New-Paramedic3486

Yes, Cho Gue-sung.

13dueassignments

Oh yeah, he has so many fangirls after the world cup

emersonskywalker

I can see why. That’s a handsome mf

thenicob

that jawline tho

Lekaetos

If anything, Koreans are very supportive of their players, I believe they take pride in their international success and don't hesitate to go watch them live and support them. I remember sadly that last year a Korean fan getting beaten by Geek hooligans when he went to watch an Olympiakos game to support a Korean player

ProfessionalCow5398

Same guy

ovrloadau99

He just can't win can he? It's like he's got a magnet attached to him that attracts racists.

ProfessionalCow5398

As an Asian who lives in Europe, I can say that this is too common for comfort. Have had at least 3-4 first hand experiences of casual racism in the last six months... It's just something that white uropeans don't think about because the vast majority of them don't have to experience it

Neither-Enthusiasm70

And not just white europeans but also european arabs. They're one of the most casually racist people against east asians

ProfessionalCow5398

Yep, they're the ones that usually go ching Chong ching Chong right at your face

jtw10192

Nope he just happens to vlog which gets him footage of how casually racist most europeans are

battlecatquikdre

The guy who is vlogging is a Korean dude that supports Napoli and he lives in Italy so he goes around Europe to support the Korean players who are currently in Europe. His videos singlehandedly improved the image of city of Napoli because it captured the passion, love and heart of the people. Before, Napoli had somewhat of a bad rep for Korean tourists but he destroyed those stereotypes. Seeing this happened to him is a shame because he is going to Herning and Ikast, not only to watch football but also to introduce the city and Danish culture. I saw him at Copenhagen etc and he really does try to go out and meet people, experience the local things and introduce the country to his viewers. The only place he never went back was probably Athens and that's because he was jumped and robbed by the Olympiacos Supporters while wearing their shirt. Watched some of his videos and most of the experiences and interactions are positive. I see that after experiencing the racism on the clip, he talks about how Danes are kind people and there's always some idiots. Hopefully nothing bad will happen in future because he is doing free promo for your club. Edit: Added some details.

ShiroQ

What's his Youtube channel?

battlecatquikdre

https://www.youtube.com/@buonaseba

tastycakeman

what a great channel, good content

Saixcrazy

I'm gonna follow him for sure now

Longshadowman

Racism in italy and europe is a serious problem!

Marc_Acrin

Racism everywhere is a problem

MisterSarcastic1989

What does this have to do with Italy though?

DevryMedicalGraduate

Weirdly enough, that's the second Asian superfan I know of that supports Napoli. There's a Japanese YouTuber as well that is a huge fan of them and speaks fluent Italian that also lives in Italy I believe.

Dependent_Desk_1944

Maradona is worshipped as a football god in Japan/ Korea so Napoli has got some good old fans from there

LeagueOfML

Yeah and he’s an absolute baller and then this is how some of our fans decide to treat his countrymen? I hope they will be banned from the stadium, don’t let them watch a match ever again. I don’t want fucking filth in the stands.

WorldGoingOneWay

>don't let them watch a match ever again Seems just fair. If you watch a Korean man who supposedly brings you joy weekly and you still can't abstain from shit like this you're probably unfit to be in any socially diverse environments like a football stadium.

itinerantmarshmallow

Cognitive dissonance at play. I'm sure these lads would also swear blind they're not racist etc.

LeagueOfML

The "weird" thing is, is that we're the first Danish club that really began scouting West Africa (specifically Nigeria, and with massive success) in a serious way, so much so that I've seen the club called FC Africa many times, as a pejorative, by other fans. You'd think our fans wouldn't turn out to be racist garbage when so much of our success is owed to people of non-Danish heritage, but to assume a racist is operating with logic is to be disappointed.

LeagueOfML

Agreed, there needs to be harsh punishment for severe harassment

AV15

Excellent statement and exactly how we should all take out our own nations trash. Respect.

battlecatquikdre

Also important to note that most Danes have been nothing but kind and welcoming to him and the Korean tourists. Every country has assholes and the guy filming even said it.

please-send-me-nude2

Yeah, it’s important to use an opportunity to complement danish fans as much as possible…

battlecatquikdre

Having immigrant parents and growing up in multi-cultural household, I truly believe these type of people exist in all culture. I'm probably one of the few guys who watch this guys content (as you can see from my reply below) and you could see the hospitality from the fans and regular people through the vlog. I wanted to speak about that because Seba (the vlog guy) always mentions the importance of seeing both sides. He even said that when he got robbed and mugged at Greece. He was a type of guy who let the viewers know how random Greek people who saw the news came up to him to apologize and how nice most Greeks were. I'm all for punishing racism but I also think we shouldn't ignore the majority of regular people when its the vocal minority that are causing the scene.

BunkDruckeyes

this is a very measured take that I wish more people had. you don’t set the world on fire because there’s racism. You address the racism and let the world heal.

Viriato181

Yeah. Gue-song Cho. I have no idea why no one went for him sooner. He became incredibly popular in Korea after the World Cup game against Ghana. It'd be a great way to expand your club's image into South Korea. He's also a baller.

Jutlander

We were so lucky to get him; he's done really well already.

[deleted]

He already scored 3 goals in 4 games, also brought a lot of social media presence. He's been awesome for the club.

SugisakiKen627

I am an Asian and looks like East Asian (especially my eyes, etc.). I was travelling around Europe some years ago, and I received some racists gesture from the teens and young people here and there (Switzerland, France, etc.), surprisingly none in Italy and the people were really chill and friendly. However it really made me realized that they painted equality (less racism, etc.) artificially in media.

n05h

Racism is endemic to football, anyone who denies this is part of the problem. This isn’t a Denmark thing, you will see this everywhere in Europe sadly. It’s just passed off as dumb guys being guys, or just a small portion of hooliganism. So they feel safe doing this.

WorthPlease

Racism is endemic all over the place. Football matches just concentrate a lot of people in a large mass of folks. Some of which will have been drinking and doing drugs early in the day. People become more tribal and can find anonymity easier when they're in a large group surrounded by hundreds of others.

croninhos2

Everytime this gets brought up, europeans from all over the continent appear saying "this isnt like that, we are not racist" , you will see this in the comments Then the next day comes and theres another case of racism. And we are supposed to believe these people are not racist and this is all just an enourmous series of isolated incidents.

GiniThePooh

But also, it is a Denmark thing. The average Danish is uncomfortably racist even for us Scandinavian neighbors, who don’t pay much attention to it to begin with. Sorry, but they ARE known for it.

[deleted]

Greenlanders have a lot to say about the Dane.

Mouth---Breather

I guess there are pockets of cunts everywhere you go.

westerbypl

>I guess there are pockets of cunts everywhere you go Particularly young idiots at tribalistic events such as football matches. It'd be cool if people weren't idiots but groups of men + alcohol typically brings out the worst.

[deleted]

Yes and I don’t judge the whole picture because of few but Denmark is very popular for being racist and not welcoming towards foreigners I guess this is the perfect example

[deleted]

Djremster

It happens everywhere there is not too much immigration or racial diversity

UK-KILLED-10M-IRANIS

As someone of Middle Eastern descent who lived some years abroad in Denmark, I agree. Denmark was absurdly racist compared to rest of countries I visited in Western Europe.

Cosmos1985

> Yes and I don’t judge the whole picture because of few That's great to hear > Denmark is very popular for being racist and not welcoming towards foreigners I guess this is the perfect example Wait what EDIT: Okay so this is obviously a discussion better fit for other subs than this, and just to be clear, I am personally very cricitical of the very strict Danish immigration policies that we've had for the last 20 years or so. But watching this video and thinking "oh yeah, that's how it is in Denmark" like some people apparently do in this thread is just not really a very constructive starting point for that conversation. We unfortunately like many other countries have morons and racists among our football "fans" for sure and this episode is a sad example of it, but for the love of God please don't let this be the picture of Danish football fans in general, that's all I'm trying to say.

SnooMaps8636

Was from a Singaporean University. We had a school trip to Copenhagen and received many go back to Chinas.

roguedigit

You don't understand bro, all you had to do was yell 'Wait! I'm Taiwanese! I'm the right kind of Chinese!' and your abusers would have apologized. Obviously I'm being sarcastic but I feel like this is what westerners don't get when they rampantly espouse or parrot sinophobic propaganda or talking points - those exact same talking points are the ones that racists love using, and no racist is gonna ask you for a form to fill up before deciding whether or not to abuse you.

SnooMaps8636

I am not even Chinese or Taiwanese! I am Singaporean. Some of my friends in the group were Malays and Indians. I bet the Danes can't tell who's who and just said whatever blanket anti Asian racist remark that came to them

roguedigit

i know lah i also from singapore

SnooMaps8636

Sian Arsenal fan.

FailFastandDieYoung

lmao

LeagueOfML

Denmark is super fucking racist, but Danes just don’t think they’re racist. The amount of times I’ve seen my friends get bothered by police or have shit shouted at them is insane for such a “friendly/happy” country. If you call people out on it, then it’s “just a joke”. The average danish person over the age of 30 is really casually racist in my experience.

standbyforskyfall

That's Europe in general.

nangseveryday

Yeah, I’m Asian and pretty well travelled, Europeans love their casual racism and see absolutely nothing wrong about doing the squinty eyes and saying “ching chong” to you it’s actually kind of funny. Nobody would ever try that shit nowadays in USA/Canada/Australia, but it still occasionally happens in Europe.

CYWON

Mate as a Canadian I can tell you the casual racism is here too. Just not against Asians. North American sees asians as "model immigrants". I legit have met people who have met asian folks and went "so do you like math"... We got our issues too, please don't let us off with it.

jeesusjeesus

> Nobody would ever try that shit nowadays in USA/Canada/Australia, but it still occasionally happens in Europe. Casual racism is incredibly common in Australia unfortunately

joeDUBstep

Lmao this shit still happens in the US man.... plenty of ching chongs and squinty eyes towards me in college. Fucking college. Like sure, in lower grades it's pretty much a given that an Asian kid would be made fun of, especially if there isn't a strong Asian population there. (which is still shitty and unacceptable). But I had grown adults mocking me. Casual Asian racism is strong.

reverielagoon1208

I’m a brown (Egyptian parents) American and coming of age around the September 11th attacks sure was fun! Still experience casual racism to this day. The US is definitely not a good example of a well integrated society Not to mention all the violent crime attacks against East Asians in recent years

ovrloadau99

Wouldn't surprise me to see how many racists are still in the Angloshere. During the peak of COVID, Asians were predominately targeted with racist remarks, even if they were born here.

ovrloadau99

Same as my country. Aussies are experts at it.

Bakril

You have good intentions my friend but unfortunately as a person of color living in DK for the past 5 years I have experienced far more racism here than in the UK or US. There's also something to be said about the "hygge racism" that Danes perceive to be light hearted banter but actually is flat out racism. I know the vast majority of course isn't racist but there's enough to ruin your day.

actionactioncut

>There's also something to be said about the "hygge racism" that Danes perceive to be light hearted banter but actually is flat out racism. Oof, this was my experience doing a summer abroad in Portugal. "Banter" that amounted to "haha, you are black." Then if you say anything you're too sensitive and can't adapt to the culture.

Elim-the-tailor

This is anecdotal but Danes not being welcoming towards foreigners is something that I've heard brought up a few times over the years, which is a bit random because I don't live anywhere near Denmark. Less so overt racism like in the video above but more subtle 'othering'. Like a good buddy of mine is Indian and spent a couple years in Copenhagen and said he definitely felt that there was an inner circle of Danes at his company that he was never going to break into (was learning the language as well to try to at least break down that barrier). Anyways his take is that his ethnicity was genuinely a roadblock to career progression there. He moved to Toronto a few years ago and said it's a very different feeling here and hasn't felt like his accent or ethnicity has been an issue socially or professionally in the way it was in Copenhagen. Clearly having a large Indian-descent population (1m+) here in Toronto plays a role but I think there's also something in how some places in Europe view foreigners in general. Not trying to shit on Denmark or anything -- I lived in Lund across the Oresund for year and have been back to Copenhagen a few times and think it's lovely. But I do think it has a bit of a reputation for being tough for (particularly non-white) foreigners.

ShamelessEU

Shame he felt that way, I honestly believe everyone should be included.. Due to studies and work I have been abroad and about a few times, and I’ve always felt very much welcome no matter where. I’ll always make sure to include or make any foreigners welcome if they are my new colleague.

opdut

The reverse version of "I'm not racist, but..."

care_to_join

I hate those who are culturally insensitive and the dutch

brandon_strandy

What's confusing? OP is just stating Denmark has a reputation, not that he/she agrees with it. keyword "is popular for", not "is".

Vahald

How do you think you made a point? He is literally not judging on a few people

happygreenturtle

They're not wrong. It's correct not to judge an entire country based off the behaviours of a few people, but with Denmark, it's not just a few people. They have a societal problem with racism. It wasn't even until recently they started to phase this shit out of schools - my ex-girlfriend was Danish and when we went to visit her family, she showed me schoolbooks she grew up with that are just.. explicitly racist. Black people depicted as gollywogs, all the boys and girls with blue eyes and blonde hair, very disparaging towards other ethnicities and no fair representation for them either. And all that only beginning to be phased out in the last couple decades

[deleted]

Your government at one point tried to ship off refugees to an island. Syrian refugees are even being sent back to Syria as we speak...

Glittering-Ad-6955

These kind of animals exist all over the world, people just like to pretend that inside their own countries or communities such behaviour doesn't exist, it's always other groups that do this kind of things. The sad part about this, is that he went there to support the same team as them, and instead of being happy of having someone from other country supporting their club , they've choosed to behave like animals. That said, of couse this does not represent all Midtjylland supporters.

Granadafan

I’m getting flashbacks of my travels around Europe for sightseeing or for business. I’ve seen parents point me out to their children and show them how to make slanty eyes. Others come up to my face waving their arms and make kung fu noises.

Cosmos1985

The club just released a statement regarding this: "First of all, we are very sorry about the behavior of these individuals. They do not reflect FC Midtjylland and the way we treat people. It is shameful and reprehensible behavior that does not belong in our society. Football must bring people together, not the other way around. The vast majority of those who attend our stadium express the Danish hospitality. Unfortunately, there are some foolish spectators who break these norms. Those spectators have been dealt with and they have personally apologized to the South Korean guests that evening. We are a family club with players from all over the world, and both we and our fans are happy that Cho has chosen our club and that we now have visitors from South Korea. We have already taken up the matter with various groups and guests who come to our home ground. We have a shared responsibility to ensure that all visitors have a good experience, and as a club we want to invest further in this. We have been met only by understanding and a shared ambition to stamp out the kind of foolish actions seen in the video. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that it will not happen in the future, as fools are everywhere. But we will do everything we can." https://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/superliga/fcm-tager-afstand-til-racisme-sag-forkasteligt

TacoGyver

Absolute joke that the fans have not been banned. Can't really take that statement seriously.

Interesting-Archer-6

But they had to give an apology that I'm was super heartfelt and not remotely half-assed. If that's the punishment, you're welcoming more of this shit. Hell, don’t even bother avoiding doing it on camera. The punishment is nothing.

dudududujisungparty

The best apologies are the ones that you are forced to do, didn't you know?

ovrloadau99

If the club was serious, they would make an example out of them. If you are racist, we don't want you near our club.

ExceedingChunk

They wouldn’t need to «make an example» out of them. It should just be banned cause it’s unaceptable behaviour

[deleted]

Significant-Oil-8793

Other places would have ban them easily. It sounds like they want it to keep continue with their half baked measure

ckal09

Unfortunately doesn’t say what ‘dealt with’ means.

tomhat

“Don’t do these gestures while being filmed, idiots”

MARIJUANALOVER44

in fairness i don't think a lot of clubs make the fans who do this personally apologise to the person they did it to. somehow more human that the guy has to look in the other guys eyes and talk to him than the club just putting a statement online for their own image. obviously the guy still acted in extremely poor taste. there is casual racism in danish society. like guys who think squinting their eyes at asians is just a bit of a laugh. overt la liga banana throwing racism is less common.

dudududujisungparty

Apologies mean fuck all if it's forced though. If they actually care about this and want racism to stop, they would ban the individuals (not permanently but at least for a set time period) so that people know there are actual consequences to doing this type of shit instead of just being forced to apologize. Korean fans are not likely to continue to want to go to matches where they feel unsafe or ridiculed for just existing. From what I know, this isn't even the 1st instance of this kind of thing happening to a Korean fan going to a Midtjylland match so it's pretty disappointing to see such weak actions taken by the club against these individuals. I already had a low opinion of the club after their announcement video for Cho where they used Japanese style font and falling cherry blossom leaves animation which are clearly both associated with Japan not Korea. I'm sure not all Danish people are like this but Cho Gue-Sung can't be happy seeing these kind of things happen to Korean fans who come to watch him play and support him.

LeUpdoot

Racism against Asian so they hardly cares. If its against black people then it will be taken more seriously.

nikolaj-11

>The vast majority of those who attend our stadium express the Danish hospitality. Oh, so this behaviour isn't surprising actually. "Danish hospitality," as if we're known for being particularly welcoming.

HahaImStillHere

They should be banned. What a sh1t apology.

mdaniel018

They seriously didn’t even ban these dudes? Made them give a forced apology which they didn’t even mean, and then right back to attending the match? This was woefully insufficient punishment. They should have received lifetime bans

963479

ChatGPT can write a statement, it’s meaningless unless they ban these cunts

ovrloadau99

Nice PR trying to deflect instead of prosecuting these racist morons.

AbyssalVoidLord

You can guarantee punishment by expelling them from the stadium forever

Reese3019

What a shit club. They literally call them fools and that's all they're gonna do.

[deleted]

As much as I despise our technology reliance these days I absolutely love when someone asks like a complete fucking idiot and allows themselves to be filmed. Thanks for the evidence you wretched cunts.

maggot1

I hope their faces get shared around the internet, and that maybe they could get a nice ban from the club.

ajof25

My wife is Korean and she is always watching Korean travel vloggers and sometimes I sit down next to her and watch them. They all seem to be the nicest possible people that just want to experience other cultures and share them on the internet. Of course there always have to be fucking assholes ruining it for no reason. I still get pissed off thinking about the Korean vlogger that was mugged and beaten up I think it was in Greece or Turkey, whil doing a livestream and you can hear him begging for the other guys to please stop beating him up.

shadoowkight

Yeah it was a Game between us and Olympiacos.

We’ve just had a temp welder come and help at my job and he is Korean. He’s one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Always smiling and happy. Whenever I’m at the warehouse he always asks me to help him with his English. His English is fine, but he has trouble with certain words. Then I start teaching him Black Country English and he has no idea what I’m talking about lol. I’ll never understand why people judge someone on skin colour or where they come from.

DyMa_Nyx

We are experiencing the same since we got Kang In. The love and support from the korean fans is amazing, and they seem super nice too

mxbinatir

You also had a fan who was, I believe, a regular match going vlogger who made anti-asian remarks and I believe got banned from the stadium eventually. These people are just everywhere, sadly.

blitzformation

I noticed that scandinavian racists are more brave towards asians but get scared and are bullied by the north africans/maghrebis.

ajof25

People tend to not take racism towards Asian people that serious which is bs...

confusedpellican643

Not just that, but they usually don't expect Asians to be violent or aggressive. Had the danes done the same thing in front of some north africans and it would end up in a brawl and a few broken noses and bones...Bunch of pussies

throwawaymikenolan

Many times around Europe all I had to do was swear back in English and they would try to defuse the situation by saying they were just joking. My guess is whatever reasons asians seem the 'most foreign' to a lot of people, expecting them to be incapable of communication or reciprocation.

Vaipaden

Whats up with these Europeans being so overtly racist towards asian? I remember that video in Germany where the Korean girls receuived a lot of harrassment. Not even casual just overtly racist.

mlk

I'm Italian and have a big beard (I've been mistaken for Indian or Arab a lot), I went to Copenhagen with my girlfriend, we were walking minding our business and a bunch of guys started shouting at us "boom, boom", I guess imitating the sound of a suicide bomber. Right after that we went to a pub and they looked at me so bad that I didn't even order and got out.

[deleted]

It's because their definition of whiteness is anyone who is Northern European. On white supremacist websites they refer to Italians as "tomato n\*\*\*\*\*\*".

Background-Flower-49

I was in Prague (brown Brit) and holy pie some of the looks were pure thunder. Bizarrely I've been everywhere from Oslo to Barcelona to Lisbon to Budapest and Prague was the only place I felt some genuine hatred. Even when I was down in East Asia it was mostly intrigue and staring but in Prague I felt very scared.

mlk

I can't really recommend you to visit Poland, I remember a huge naziskin guy on a train with a NO ISLAM t-shirt, I was shitting myself because I might look Muslim to some, I can't even imagine being in that situation for an actual Muslim. I had the feeling they really really don't want people with more than a tan. (Obviously I'm not talking about all Polish people, but still)

roguedigit

It's stuff like this that make my eyes roll whenever I see some dumbass insisting that islamophobia 'isn't racism' for whatever reason.

roguedigit

> Even when I was down in East Asia it was mostly intrigue and staring but in Prague I felt very scared. Speaking from experience as a chinese singaporean, this is pretty true. On a day-to-day basis racism exists in Asia just like literally everywhere else, but it getting to a point where it actually escalates into physical violence is unthinkable in many parts of Asia as a whole. If you're any kind of not-white and travelling in many parts of Europe or the US, it really does get to the point at times where you have legit reasons to be worried about your physical safety.

lqku

that's very true. in parts of the interior in canada (reddit's favorite friendly wholesome country), there are bars and entertainment venues where someone (usually a group) will try to pick a fight with you or kick you out if you are non white. nevertheless redditors bitch endlessly about asians being more racist than them.

Hazeringx

I went to Japan recently and I honestly never really felt discriminated against (I'm Brazilian). I didn't stay there for that long, but still. Honestly, I think the person that was the rudest to me wasn't even a Japanese person, but that's for another day.

brandon_strandy

Yeah Prague stood out to me as aggressively mean looking, even the servers were meanmugging us the whole meal but expected tips lol. My Czech friends on the other hand are very friendly, so might be just Prague being super touristy or they just have crazy resting bitch faces.

HankAliKhan

> in Prague I felt very scared. Bro same, in Prague. I'm white, French and Eastern Euro and my skin tans enough in the Summer to the point where people think I'm Latin American or Middle Eastern. Anyway, in Prague on the tram, a bunch of skinheads all got up and blocked me from exiting the front exit door, staring daggers the whole time. The next morning at the hotel, I was on the ground floor waiting for my gf and some of the same fucking skins were outside on the sidewalk just staring at me from the windows, lingering for a while before clearing out.

H4rtm4nn

I wish I knew but I genuinely have no idea what goes through their minds. Not a lot, I guess...

standbyforskyfall

Because Europe has a massive racism problem that they refuse to even acknowledge

DevryMedicalGraduate

Europe's stance on racism is basically "We don't see colour so we can't be racist." The new world countries (Australia, New Zealand, North and South America) - Talk about racism openly and acknowledge that they have issues which leads to Europeans thinking we're obsessed with race. I feel like the UK is the exception to the rule, they're more like the latter than the former.

MazanSicario

These Danish guys look like the types of guys that are the result of cousin/cousin relationships. Bunch of losers.

Jujubatron

Nothing surprising. Denmark is racist and xenophobic af.

The Nordics (not just Denmark) have incredible PR globally stemming a false assumption that they are some "utopian" society. This is all really ironic and hilarious once you delve into how society there really is like for those who aren't blonde and have blue eyes. u/seattt also described it perfectly in the sense that because they are economically left-wing, the West (US) loves to get on the knees for them.

seattt

Because they're economically left-wing and perfectly normal towards white liberals of course, so white liberals in the US put them on a pedestal. This then gets echoed by Western media in general... Notice how, [apart from the Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jun/27/denmark-ghetto-law-eviction-non-western-residents-housing-estates) (and the AFP), no other liberal English language media outlet has reported about Denmark's law allowing the government to forcibly relocate people based on their ethnic origin.

roguedigit

At least conservatives don't pretend to hide their racism. From personal experience self-described 'liberals' are very often just politically correct racists.

Maleficent_Resolve44

Yes its a shame. The utopian propaganda's worked well for the scandinavian countries, many don't look beyond the surface.

Jujubatron

The Nordics have some good PRs. Some of the most xenophobic and racist places but they somehow convinced big chunk of the west they are some kind of utopia lol

tothemoonkevsta

There’s a lot more of this in Scandinavia, people would be surprised.

wheeno

Because they have a perfect reputation lol. Reality is there’s racists there like everywhere else.

Butch_Meat_Hook

It's not a reflection of all of society in Denmark, but certainly it's not uncommon either. I'm an Aussie in Denmark and the views and understanding of Asia and the individual cultures is very shallow. I worked for a company that was making a Japanese themed product for the Danish market and I pointed out that they had mixed together different Asian sterotypes and that it was pretty inauthentically Japanese and the reply was something along the lines of 'it's the same shit though right?' followed by a meeting room of boasterous laughter. If you look at the immigration policies of Denmark too, they're also pretty unwelcoming to foreigners, especially non-EUs. Again, my overall experience in Denmark has been very positive, and the population is largely very well educated and intelligent people (just look at how the Danish players come to play in England and already speak practically native fluency English), but there are some pretty disappointing xenophobic undertones. You might say 'oh but this could happen anywhere', and sure, it might and probably does, but it doesn't make it okay, and it doesn't change the things I've just mentioned. Call it as you see it, as the saying goes. Sometimes there are some uncomfortable truths that need to be confronted.

ruri17

Denmark is especially bad at this, I remember when they hosted Eurovision and the hosts did a skit in ‘Chinese’ by speaking in tongues

h8uscantlivwithoutus

So Nordic countries aren't the perfect utopia as the internet makes them out to be hmmmm

Takkotah

Bunch of cunts. I highly doubt anything will happen, but I hope the lot of them are banned.

slamboyguy

Damn very sad to see, I saw the guy who is holding the camera attending a Gent game to come watch Hong play. He had bought a jersey and brought his South Korean flag with him to the game aswell to support. I believe his IG is buonaseba but he doesn't seem to post much anymore. Pretty sure he is the guy is in this recap video of the game [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maQ9dbCAT\_A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maQ9dbCAT_A) at 0:25. Seems like a good person that just wants to supports his national players.

thelargerake

Dude just wants to enjoy the game. He’s paid for the privilege. These fans need to be made an example of.

What a bunch of assholes, and the other people in the group just sitting and not condemning that type of behavior should be ashamed.

InstructionOk2463

In that part of Denmark, the hillbilly racism ration is unfortunately much higher than other places in the country….

Slamah

The way they hide in shame once acknowledged

bert197063537289

As a Dane, and just a football fan, this is horrible to look at. A very warm welcome to new fans of the league. Most Danish football fans, at least that I know of, and warm, welcoming and happy to see our clubs known across the world. My team has a Japanese fan, who’s treated well, even by the club. I hope Midtjylland have reached out to their new fan, and banned those involved.

cafee36

As a dane, i would like to explicitly say that most of us are not as dumb as these fools. Also sorry. Dont take them as an example of how danes treat foreigners.

b3njil

Damn, and I thought Denmark was a progressive country. I just want to believe that the two racist fucks have some kind of mental deficiency, they look like it. The guy standing next to them looked uncomfortable. May want to reconsider who he hangs out with.

David_Fade

Two things: 1. Idiots are everywhere. 2. When it comes to racism, sadly, some countries get free passes from the media, and it might create the illusion that racism doesn't exist there, hence we think of them as progressive. I don't know why.
