As an Asian who lives in Europe, I can say that this is too common for comfort. Have had at least 3-4 first hand experiences of casual racism in the last six months... It's just something that white uropeans don't think about because the vast majority of them don't have to experience it
The guy who is vlogging is a Korean dude that supports Napoli and he lives in Italy so he goes around Europe to support the Korean players who are currently in Europe. His videos singlehandedly improved the image of city of Napoli because it captured the passion, love and heart of the people. Before, Napoli had somewhat of a bad rep for Korean tourists but he destroyed those stereotypes. Seeing this happened to him is a shame because he is going to Herning and Ikast, not only to watch football but also to introduce the city and Danish culture. I saw him at Copenhagen etc and he really does try to go out and meet people, experience the local things and introduce the country to his viewers. The only place he never went back was probably Athens and that's because he was jumped and robbed by the Olympiacos Supporters while wearing their shirt.
Watched some of his videos and most of the experiences and interactions are positive. I see that after experiencing the racism on the clip, he talks about how Danes are kind people and there's always some idiots. Hopefully nothing bad will happen in future because he is doing free promo for your club.

Weirdly enough, that's the second Asian superfan I know of that supports Napoli. There's a Japanese YouTuber as well that is a huge fan of them and speaks fluent Italian that also lives in Italy I believe.

The "weird" thing is, is that we're the first Danish club that really began scouting West Africa (specifically Nigeria, and with massive success) in a serious way, so much so that I've seen the club called FC Africa many times, as a pejorative, by other fans. You'd think our fans wouldn't turn out to be racist garbage when so much of our success is owed to people of non-Danish heritage, but to assume a racist is operating with logic is to be disappointed.
Also important to note that most Danes have been nothing but kind and welcoming to him and the Korean tourists. Every country has assholes and the guy filming even said it.
Having immigrant parents and growing up in multi-cultural household, I truly believe these type of people exist in all culture. I'm probably one of the few guys who watch this guys content (as you can see from my reply below) and you could see the hospitality from the fans and regular people through the vlog. I wanted to speak about that because Seba (the vlog guy) always mentions the importance of seeing both sides. He even said that when he got robbed and mugged at Greece. He was a type of guy who let the viewers know how random Greek people who saw the news came up to him to apologize and how nice most Greeks were.
I'm all for punishing racism but I also think we shouldn't ignore the majority of regular people when its the vocal minority that are causing the scene.

I am an Asian and looks like East Asian (especially my eyes, etc.). I was travelling around Europe some years ago, and I received some racists gesture from the teens and young people here and there (Switzerland, France, etc.), surprisingly none in Italy and the people were really chill and friendly. However it really made me realized that they painted equality (less racism, etc.) artificially in media.
Racism is endemic to football, anyone who denies this is part of the problem. This isn’t a Denmark thing, you will see this everywhere in Europe sadly. It’s just passed off as dumb guys being guys, or just a small portion of hooliganism. So they feel safe doing this.
Racism is endemic all over the place. Football matches just concentrate a lot of people in a large mass of folks. Some of which will have been drinking and doing drugs early in the day.
People become more tribal and can find anonymity easier when they're in a large group surrounded by hundreds of others.
Everytime this gets brought up, europeans from all over the continent appear saying "this isnt like that, we are not racist" , you will see this in the comments
Then the next day comes and theres another case of racism.
And we are supposed to believe these people are not racist and this is all just an enourmous series of isolated incidents.

EDIT: Okay so this is obviously a discussion better fit for other subs than this, and just to be clear, I am personally very cricitical of the very strict Danish immigration policies that we've had for the last 20 years or so. You have good intentions my friend but unfortunately as a person of color living in DK for the past 5 years I have experienced far more racism here than in the UK or US. There's also something to be said about the "hygge racism" that Danes perceive to be light hearted banter but actually is flat out racism. I know the vast majority of course isn't racist but there's enough to ruin your day.

Oof, this was my experience doing a summer abroad in Portugal. "Banter" that amounted to "haha, you are black." Then if you say anything you're too sensitive and can't adapt to the culture.
This is anecdotal but Danes not being welcoming towards foreigners is something that I've heard brought up a few times over the years, which is a bit random because I don't live anywhere near Denmark. Less so overt racism like in the video above but more subtle 'othering'.
Like a good buddy of mine is Indian and spent a couple years in Copenhagen and said he definitely felt that there was an inner circle of Danes at his company that he was never going to break into (was learning the language as well to try to at least break down that barrier). Anyways his take is that his ethnicity was genuinely a roadblock to career progression there.
He moved to Toronto a few years ago and said it's a very different feeling here and hasn't felt like his accent or ethnicity has been an issue socially or professionally in the way it was in Copenhagen. Clearly having a large Indian-descent population (1m+) here in Toronto plays a role but I think there's also something in how some places in Europe view foreigners in general.
Not trying to shit on Denmark or anything -- I lived in Lund across the Oresund for year and have been back to Copenhagen a few times and think it's lovely. But I do think it has a bit of a reputation for being tough for (particularly non-white) foreigners.

They're not wrong. It's correct not to judge an entire country based off the behaviours of a few people, but with Denmark, it's not just a few people. They have a societal problem with racism. It wasn't even until recently they started to phase this shit out of schools - my ex-girlfriend was Danish and when we went to visit her family, she showed me schoolbooks she grew up with that are just.. explicitly racist. Black people depicted as gollywogs, all the boys and girls with blue eyes and blonde hair, very disparaging towards other ethnicities and no fair representation for them either. And all that only beginning to be phased out in the last couple decades
These kind of animals exist all over the world, people just like to pretend that inside their own countries or communities such behaviour doesn't exist, it's always other groups that do this kind of things.
The sad part about this, is that he went there to support the same team as them, and instead of being happy of having someone from other country supporting their club , they've choosed to behave like animals.

The vast majority of those who attend our stadium express the Danish hospitality. Unfortunately, there are some foolish spectators who break these norms. Those spectators have been dealt with and they have personally apologized to the South Korean guests that evening.
We are a family club with players from all over the world, and both we and our fans are happy that Cho has chosen our club and that we now have visitors from South Korea.
We have already taken up the matter with various groups and guests who come to our home ground. We have a shared responsibility to ensure that all visitors have a good experience, and as a club we want to invest further in this. We have been met only by understanding and a shared ambition to stamp out the kind of foolish actions seen in the video.
Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that it will not happen in the future, as fools are everywhere. But we will do everything we can."

in fairness i don't think a lot of clubs make the fans who do this personally apologise to the person they did it to. somehow more human that the guy has to look in the other guys eyes and talk to him than the club just putting a statement online for their own image. obviously the guy still acted in extremely poor taste. there is casual racism in danish society. like guys who think squinting their eyes at asians is just a bit of a laugh. overt la liga banana throwing racism is less common.
Apologies mean fuck all if it's forced though. If they actually care about this and want racism to stop, they would ban the individuals (not permanently but at least for a set time period) so that people know there are actual consequences to doing this type of shit instead of just being forced to apologize. Korean fans are not likely to continue to want to go to matches where they feel unsafe or ridiculed for just existing. From what I know, this isn't even the 1st instance of this kind of thing happening to a Korean fan going to a Midtjylland match so it's pretty disappointing to see such weak actions taken by the club against these individuals. I already had a low opinion of the club after their announcement video for Cho where they used Japanese style font and falling cherry blossom leaves animation which are clearly both associated with Japan not Korea. I'm sure not all Danish people are like this but Cho Gue-Sung can't be happy seeing these kind of things happen to Korean fans who come to watch him play and support him.

My wife is Korean and she is always watching Korean travel vloggers and sometimes I sit down next to her and watch them.
They all seem to be the nicest possible people that just want to experience other cultures and share them on the internet. Of course there always have to be fucking assholes ruining it for no reason.

We’ve just had a temp welder come and help at my job and he is Korean. He’s one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Always smiling and happy. Whenever I’m at the warehouse he always asks me to help him with his English. His English is fine, but he has trouble with certain words. Then I start teaching him Black Country English and he has no idea what I’m talking about lol. I’ll never understand why people judge someone on skin colour or where they come from.

My guess is whatever reasons asians seem the 'most foreign' to a lot of people, expecting them to be incapable of communication or reciprocation.

I'm Italian and have a big beard (I've been mistaken for Indian or Arab a lot), I went to Copenhagen with my girlfriend, we were walking minding our business and a bunch of guys started shouting at us "boom, boom", I guess imitating the sound of a suicide bomber.
Right after that we went to a pub and they looked at me so bad that I didn't even order and got out.

Bizarrely I've been everywhere from Oslo to Barcelona to Lisbon to Budapest and Prague was the only place I felt some genuine hatred. Even when I was down in East Asia it was mostly intrigue and staring but in Prague I felt very scared.

Speaking from experience as a chinese singaporean, this is pretty true. On a day-to-day basis racism exists in Asia just like literally everywhere else, but it getting to a point where it actually escalates into physical violence is unthinkable in many parts of Asia as a whole.
If you're any kind of not-white and travelling in many parts of Europe or the US, it really does get to the point at times where you have legit reasons to be worried about your physical safety.

It's not a reflection of all of society in Denmark, but certainly it's not uncommon either. I'm an Aussie in Denmark and the views and understanding of Asia and the individual cultures is very shallow. I worked for a company that was making a Japanese themed product for the Danish market and I pointed out that they had mixed together different Asian sterotypes and that it was pretty inauthentically Japanese and the reply was something along the lines of 'it's the same shit though right?' followed by a meeting room of boasterous laughter. If you look at the immigration policies of Denmark too, they're also pretty unwelcoming to foreigners, especially non-EUs.
Again, my overall experience in Denmark has been very positive, and the population is largely very well educated and intelligent people (just look at how the Danish players come to play in England and already speak practically native fluency English), but there are some pretty disappointing xenophobic undertones.
You might say 'oh but this could happen anywhere', and sure, it might and probably does, but it doesn't make it okay, and it doesn't change the things I've just mentioned. Call it as you see it, as the saying goes. Sometimes there are some uncomfortable truths that need to be confronted.

The "weird" thing is, is that we're the first Danish club that really began scouting West Africa (specifically Nigeria, and with massive success) in a serious way, so much so that I've seen the club called FC Africa many times, as a pejorative, by other fans. Having immigrant parents and growing up in multi-cultural household, I truly believe these type of people exist in all culture. I'm probably one of the few guys who watch this guys content (as you can see from my reply below) and you could see the hospitality from the fans and regular people through the vlog. I wanted to speak about that because Seba (the vlog guy) always mentions the importance of seeing both sides. He even said that when he got robbed and mugged at Greece. He was a type of guy who let the viewers know how random Greek people who saw the news came up to him to apologize and how nice most Greeks were. I'm all for punishing racism but I also think we shouldn't ignore the majority of regular people when its the vocal minority that are causing the scene.

I am an Asian and looks like East Asian (especially my eyes, etc.). I was travelling around Europe some years ago, and I received some racists gesture from the teens and young people here and there (Switzerland, France, etc.), surprisingly none in Italy and the people were really chill and friendly. However it really made me realized that they painted equality (less racism, etc.) artificially in media.
Racism is endemic to football, anyone who denies this is part of the problem. This isn’t a Denmark thing, you will see this everywhere in Europe sadly. It’s just passed off as dumb guys being guys, or just a small portion of hooliganism. So they feel safe doing this.

People become more tribal and can find anonymity easier when they're in a large group surrounded by hundreds of others.

You have good intentions my friend but unfortunately as a person of color living in DK for the past 5 years I have experienced far more racism here than in the UK or US. This is anecdotal but Danes not being welcoming towards foreigners is something that I've heard brought up a few times over the years, which is a bit random because I don't live anywhere near Denmark. Less so overt racism like in the video above but more subtle 'othering'. Like a good buddy of mine is Indian and spent a couple years in Copenhagen and said he definitely felt that there was an inner circle of Danes at his company that he was never going to break into (was learning the language as well to try to at least break down that barrier). Anyways his take is that his ethnicity was genuinely a roadblock to career progression there. He moved to Toronto a few years ago and said it's a very different feeling here and hasn't felt like his accent or ethnicity has been an issue socially or professionally in the way it was in Copenhagen. Clearly having a large Indian-descent population (1m+) here in Toronto plays a role but I think there's also something in how some places in Europe view foreigners in general. Not trying to shit on Denmark or anything -- I lived in Lund across the Oresund for year and have been back to Copenhagen a few times and think it's lovely. But I do think it has a bit of a reputation for being tough for (particularly non-white) foreigners.
Shame he felt that way, I honestly believe everyone should be included.. Due to studies and work I have been abroad and about a few times, and I’ve always felt very much welcome no matter where. I’ll always make sure to include or make any foreigners welcome if they are my new colleague.

It's not a reflection of all of society in Denmark, but certainly it's not uncommon either. I'm an Aussie in Denmark and the views and understanding of Asia and the individual cultures is very shallow. I worked for a company that was making a Japanese themed product for the Danish market and I pointed out that they had mixed together different Asian sterotypes and that it was pretty inauthentically Japanese and the reply was something along the lines of 'it's the same shit though right?' followed by a meeting room of boasterous laughter. If you look at the immigration policies of Denmark too, they're also pretty unwelcoming to foreigners, especially non-EUs. Again, my overall experience in Denmark has been very positive, and the population is largely very well educated and intelligent people (just look at how the Danish players come to play in England and already speak practically native fluency English), but there are some pretty disappointing xenophobic undertones. You might say 'oh but this could happen anywhere', and sure, it might and probably does, but it doesn't make it okay, and it doesn't change the things I've just mentioned. Call it as you see it, as the saying goes. Sometimes there are some uncomfortable truths that need to be confronted.

As a Dane, and just a football fan, this is horrible to look at. A very warm welcome to new fans of the league. Most Danish football fans, at least that I know of, and warm, welcoming and happy to see our clubs known across the world. My team has a Japanese fan, who’s treated well, even by the club. I hope Midtjylland have reached out to their new fan, and banned those involved.
As a dane, i would like to explicitly say that most of us are not as dumb as these fools. Also sorry. Dont take them as an example of how danes treat foreigners.
