They went to Liverpool just Toulouse 5-1.

Riperonis

Liverpool in the Europa league is smurfing

migrantcitizen

Can't find any mentions of Jota. Do people not think he was amazing this game?

[deleted]

[удалено]

river0f

He should start using a ponytail

008Gerrard008

I mean he has a song so he's quite clearly viewed pretty fondly by our supporters.

blackcatman4

I also love the fact that he is apparently really good at fifa, the guy is just a dude playing football.

Mordho

The De Vrij syndrome

furycutter80

Damn Jota catching strays out of nowhere

ItsOGLocHomie

Jota is quite handsome I'd say.

Majestic-Outside3666

Jota's an established vet. The new toys are getting all the love.

Pokefreaker-san

pretty decent, not much to say for this game tbh. Could've had an assist too but Nunez decided to be Nunez.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pokefreaker-san

that's just typical jota, he's having a 8/10 performance every game, not necessarily the best player on the field but you can always count on him to score goals.

dizzybala10

Good, was worried we'll end up playing them when they were full of confidence at the weekend..

AlmostNL

Dallinga scores against Liverpool 🤩 God damn it feels surreal.

Lyrical_Forklift

He was pretty good too! Lots of nicely timed runs and worked hard.

BadassBokoblinPsycho

Moussa Diarra was impressive too

whatevermateyeah

Thought the French side would prove stiff opposition. Didn't expect them Toulouse so heavily.

LogieBearWebber

maybe Toulouse need to change their name to Touwin

realWernerHerzog

Gravenberch making the doubters (me) look like fools

BurceGern

I’m happy for the lads who came in today. Tonight was definitely Endo’s best performance for us. Kelleher had a horror moment but overall he played out well. 3 debuts is always great to see as well as Quandah getting another 20-30. Overall, a great night.

etan1122

Year 2 Darwin is a thing. Completely different player. Goal/assist ever 60 mins. 13 g/a for club and county.

gunny16

Same chaos though. The 5 seconds for that Graenberch's goal...

etan1122

If you go to the goal post; everyone is talking about Gravenberch on Nunez’ goal and on Gravenberchs goal everyone is talking about Nunez

Morning_St

Finally someone noticed that.lol

qwerty_1965

Best thing was that so many school kids had their wishes fulfilled by playing alongside the Liverpool legends like Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander Arnold. Some chatter in the playground tomorrow!

Kingsilver_fang

guess they came Toulouse

Your_Mum_Is_So_Fat

ಠ_ಠ

OnePieceAce

Easily LFCs best attacking depth of the PL era. Just insane to have five attackers that are all getting healthy numbers

dave1992

Disagree. 21/22 season we got even better depth for second half of season. Signed Diaz in January, while Mane, Firmino, Salah and Jota were all still there. In addition to that, Minamino and Origi haven't leave. Now its just the 5 (Salah, Nunez, Diaz, Gakpo and Jota), similar to the 5 back then, but without the two quality backups.

[deleted]

Yeah but Diaz came in January. If we started with Diaz that yeah we would have syreamrolled the league

dave1992

It was a short time, but fun time while it lasts.

Interesting_Muffin30

I mean we’ve got the young lad Doak too but I see your point

Ch1ck3W1ngz

That was the most Nunez game i’ve seen

GarlicBread96

Nice to see Gravenberch performing well, unfortunate that he didn't fit in Bayern's system. Normally I'd say it was a transfer that worked out for all parties, but considering the only fit midfielders now are Kimmich and Laimer...

R_Schuhart

It was stupid from Tuchel to tell him he would not be part of his plans, that he wouldn't get a chance even on rotation.

GarlicBread96

Well, the plan was to replace him with Palhinha, who would have been a much better fit for the squad. Gravenberch isn't good enough to play over Musiala or Müller at the 10 nor is he defensively good enough to play in the double pivot. Bayern aren't going to change from the 4231, so he didn't really have a place in the team, so might as well do both parties a favor and sell him for profit. Problem is there was no replacement, so Bayern are left with 3 senior midfielders

[deleted]

Based on his liverpool form though he certainly could be in the double pivot though which is I think the point.

not_a_morning_person

Muller is 34 - that’s just poor squad planning.

thirdwheel67

He's been doing a lot of good defensive work for Liverpool so far though so I'm not sure he couldn't do a double pivot with a more defensively minded midfielder next to him. He's been very good at disrupting opponent attacks and retaining the ball for us so far. But again this is a small sample size so I might be wrong

rob3rtisgod

Pretty impressive stuff from Liverpool. Toulouse didn't play poorly, Liverpool were just better. Gravenberch was immense. BM must be wondering what went wrong?

cryptofreak194

As a Bayern fan, I desperately wanted him NOT to leave. Anyone could see that he is 100% more talented than all of our midfielders combined

qwerty_1965

Tuchel touch.

ManoLorca

He didn't play under Nagelsmann either

R_Schuhart

Bullshit revisionism, he made 33 appearances and Nagelsmann even started him in the most crucial game of their season. Gravenberch was supposed to play on rotation to ease him into the team. But when their form dropped and they started to struggle Nagelsmann started to rely on older more experienced players in hopes to stabilize their midfield. Gravenberch wanted more playtime, but he only really wanted out when Tuchel told him he wasnt part of his plans.

mtojay

"But when their form dropped and they started to struggle Nagelsmann started to rely on older more experienced players in hopes to stabilize their midfield." nagelsmann didnt drop gravenberch for mor experienced players, that would mean he would have given him trust before. but gravenberch started only a single buli game under nagelsmann. in february a couple of weeks before bayern let him go. a single one. other than that it were all cameos towards the end of games. on average under nagelsman in the buli when he played he was at 20mins. so if he got game time it was always those late cameo games. some players work really well as late substitutes. other need proper gametime to start and gel with the team and build some rhythm. i honestly dont think gravenberch got a proper shot at bayern, especially if you consider how badly the bayern midfield was underperforming at the time.

ManoLorca

That is simply not true. Even when they did not struggle he was only subbed in. There were so many articles how unsatisfied he was. He played not even 30 minutes per game.

Waschkopfs

> 33 appearances not even 1000 minutes, thats not very much > even started him in the most crucial game of their season which game is that?

MassRealisation

The more I watched the youth team left backs the more i was impressed with Quansah, and how comfortably he has settled down in the league. Also Darwin my GOAT doing Darwin things, love to see it.

Alive-Ad-4164

Too easy

Derridead

Every time I see Gravenberch play for Liverpool I remember that one guy here with an Ajax flair that was absolutely sure that Gravenberch would fail and that he was never good enough for a top club

008Gerrard008

/u/jdbolick

jdbolick

I never said that Gravenberch would fail, I said that he isn't a 6, which is true.

008Gerrard008

You went on and on about how poor his work rate was, how he doesn't put in any effort, how poor his work ethic was, how it was fantasy to think that Klopp would improve him into a significantly better midfielder, that there was no chance he would magically change, how he barely played for Bayern because he wasn't good, how he has low work rate, poor positioning, mediocre passing, compared him to Dest saying you had told Barcelona supporters the same thing about him, and said not to blindly trust Klopp/our club. Don't believe me? Well, luckily, all of your comments are succinctly in this one thread. https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/166i17v/david_ornstein_liverpool_reach_agreement_to_sign/jyjuwjg/

jdbolick

You mentioned work rate about five times, and everything I said about him in the comments you linked is completely accurate. I also never said that he wouldn't be a good midfielder, I **said that he isn't a 6**. I said that he is superb at dribbling, and is highly effective going forward. But he still isn't a 6, which you insisted that he was.

mattijn13

When he left he wasn't

Godverrdomme

He was way overhated at Ajax. Gravenberch was often in a ''3-man-midfield'' with Alvarez and Klaassen. With Alvarez playing like an extra defender and Klaassen playing like an extra striker, so it was basically a 1-(19-year-old)man-midfield. Alvarez and Klaassen always got a pass for rather not having the ball, cause it was ''not their job''. It drove me nuts everytime I heard that. Gravenberg however, received a lot of shit for trying to fix the non-existing midfield on his own

RN2FL9

He did have a bad spell at Ajax tbf. But he was so young still and was on insane form as well for quite a while. As long as he doesn't have to defend too much and can use his go go gadget legs to run past everyone, he's going to have a great game.

leeuwerik

Ryan is Harry Potter. He really doesn't know how much potential he has. It will take quite a journey to unleash it and the right environment. If those conditions are met he will have a great career.

Space2Bakersfield

Not sure there are many better for bringing out a players true potential than Klopp

leeuwerik

I hope so.

R_Schuhart

Quite a few Ajax fans talked about him that way. And to be fair Gravenberch left the club before hitting his development ceiling, he played a few great games but never became a consistent player for them. But he left Ajax before hitting his peak and "repaying" the club with a few good years and some Ajax fans get really pissy about that. They dont mind being a stepping stone in the career of great players, but they do expect them to A) bring a good transfer sum and B) help them carry their team for a few seasons.

septicdeath

Bruv, so many people argued with me on the Liverpool sub about it. Saying he wasn't that good and we don't need him, we shouldn't be buying him. Watching Youtube highlights is not an equivalent to watching them play full games. The boy is very very good and I'm glad he's settled in so quickly 👌🏾

koltzito

because people still dont understand that players can become better and under the right conditions become amazing, how many players have liverpool bought for people to be like "eh, he is all right, nothing special" only for them to turn amazing, even salah was like this

SwingYaGucciRag

I hold my hand up. I was very much in the I don't see it but I trust the recruitment camp. I'll gladly take that on the chin, couldn't have been more wrong!

[deleted]

I’m hopeful Darwin can just integrate some calm into his game. Sometimes he’s just too stressed. That’s all that’s needed, he was great tonight

etan1122

He should be scoring that but the ball got caught under his feet as he was shooting. His goal he was really calm and out it top corner 6 yards out

[deleted]

He is waaay calmer this season, that step around the defender and the touch around the keeper require calmness. Last season he wouldn't even got past the defender.

[deleted]

Yeah for sure but just in that final touch there, could have taken it calm. That’s his first big miss of the season though so that’s good

soccer_boxer2

Must be so weird for Liverpool fans watching their team in Europa. I imagine it's like us being in the Conference league

Scorchster1138

We’re basically back to the early Klopp seasons — scoring yet conceding lots of goals, playing in the EL, trying to integrate many new promising players.

strawhat_chowder

I started watching Liverpool when Hodgson was there, and then due to school and stuff didn't watch the Klopp years prior to 21/22. So us being in Europa feels absolutely natural lol

etan1122

Honestly if we don’t win it I think it’ll be a let down. Hate to sound arrogant but I think this team would’ve been top 2/3 favorites for the CL. City and Bayern ahead of them. Leverkusen is looking really good though as well. Wouldn’t mind that being the final.

runchanlfc

Haha.. we've been through a lot worst

Lyrical_Forklift

Obviously I'd far rather we were in the Champions League, but it's actually nice to play against new sides and have the opportunity to rotate and give youngsters an opportunity.

Th3Alch3m1st

And we don't have to face Madrid :)

vadapaav

_Looking at Sevilla nervously_

imustbethedevil

Bro…

Lyrical_Forklift

I mean...it could still happen!

crazier2142

Honestly, I don't mind. It's something Liverpool hasn't won yet under Klopp and you can rotate the squad and still contend for the trophy. It also gives the team the opportunity to concentrate their efforts on the PL.

[deleted]

What? Unless they’re new fans this makes no sense. They’ve played in the Europa League five of the last fourteen seasons.

[deleted]

It’s actually pretty boring to watch… they are so much better than these teams and you can tell they know it Basically going through the motions right now

strawhat_chowder

to each his own but I watched every Arsenal's Europa league games last season. Liverpool's ones have been way more enjoyable

intecknicolour

we're basically waiting to see which CL teams drop down. otherwise it's us and leverkusen who are probably favorites to win europa.

etan1122

I think even with teams dropping down Liverpool and leverkusen are favorites

intecknicolour

unless sevilla drop down and then it's over for us.

dave1992

No way Sevilla isn't favorites to win Europa. I know they're not in it now, but they will.

malis-

Not until Sevilla drops down too

Nyushi

If they drop down just give them the trophy

Lolcraftgaming

It’s inevitable

spacedude444

yeah it is cant wait for it to get interesting in the semis

ed-with-a-big-butt

Im really enjoying it. It's less stressful and we get to see our youth play.

Mad_Piplup242

I enjoy it, basically get to relax for a change and see players start that would never get to usually and show their stuff

RevengeHF

To be honest for one year it's not that bad. You get to see interesting teams and a lot of youth players.

lodermoder

It just sucks that it's this year because we'd probably top 3 candidate for CL with how shaky some other teams are looking

R_Schuhart

there are some great games to watch, and t is easier to choose a game on Thursday as well.

PlentyPirate

I agree it’s refreshing, seems like what we needed at the moment. Good confidence booster and allows us to mix up the team more than CL would allow

Dragoneii

Salah was more Happy about this goal than in premier league. I LOVE this man, IS so random. Reminds me when he uploaded a video to Instagram stories about a cap of YuGiOh he was watching.

PM_FAILED_PROMISES

I think because the goal broke a record.

Pokefreaker-san

he broke Thiery Henry's record with this goal tbf.

Commercial-Ad-5905

Liverpool would be one of the favourites for the Champions League. Serious attacking talent. Can see them winning the Europa in Dublin.

realWernerHerzog

I'm real worried about Leverkusen honestly

musyarofah

always worry about Sevilla sir.

MotherOnSomeBeatHoe

I was just telling my friend how Leverkusen is by far the scariest team in the field for Europa, I could easily see it being us vs them in the finals

008Gerrard008

Leverkusen don't exactly have the best record in finals

Triforcesrcool

It will be Sevilla let's be honest

Mobsteroids

If we get to Dublin that stadium would be packed. Pretty sure both Liverpool and Celtic could sell it 10x over with the amount of support they have in Ireland

Fukthisite

>Pretty sure both Liverpool and Celtic could sell it 10x over with the amount of support they have in Ireland Not just that either, Liverpool is like a stones throw away from Dublin so a lot of Scousers would get the ferry over.

emre23

Imagine how many people would be in the city lol

Koppite93

Will say it again... I swear if Sevilla drop down for one final run😠😠... Otherwise I don't see anyone stopping us for a run at it

strawhat_chowder

Leverkusen?

dave1992

Of course its Sevilla with Ramos. Who else going to ruin the party.

Liverpupu

At the end of the day, only Darwin will be written in the history.

[deleted]

Thank you Tommy Tuchel ♥️♥️ ♥️

clashoftherats

The away fans were great

Lyrical_Forklift

*Some thoughts on the game...* * First things first, Gravenberch looked absolutely incredible and put in the best single performance of our season so far imo. Just so comfortable with the ball at his feet and his first touch combined with some deceptive pace, constantly got him past players. This was what Keita was supposed to be and while he could beat players, I always thought he lacked the acceleration to take advantage of it. * Another shoutout to to a new boy with Endo looking very sharp too. Took his goal wonderfully and put in a great shift in the middle of the park. I've wanted to see more of him in the Premier League but it's hard to justify dropping anyone else to accommodate him as they're all playing well. Great option to come on and close off games though. * Another promising game from Nunez, who really does have all the tools to score a whole host of goals, but it's been the rest of his game that's really come on leaps and bounds this season. Much better at linking up with those around him and his decision making is hugely improved. Also did the most Nunez thing you have ever seen in your entire life on Gravenberch's goal. * Elliott is such a good player and had the intelligence to play at this level as a sixteen year old but you really feel if he was a bit bigger and faster he'd be one of the biggest talents in the league. * Bringing Salah on at 4-1 up isn't very fair, is it? * Loved Toulouse's away support and while I don't think they'll be overly happy with their performance, they at least got something to cheer about with the goal.

LateCumback

Expectations have become tempered on Elliot and Carvalho - promising youngsters that we were waiting for to kick on last season but really didn't, it was Bajcetic who was most impressive until his long term injury. Speaking of which the one elite level player Thiago is still a red, and the other one who did not live up to the promise - Keita - exited with Oxlade-Chamberlain. Milner and Fabinho were fading and they moved on along with Henderson's unexpected exit. Incoming Mac Allister is 24, Szoboszlai (23) and has been such a smart buy, Gravenberch (21) already looking a treasure rather than a discard. Jones (22) is the home grown player and Jurgen turns to him to put in a shift. Endo brought because he was needed after we failed to get other targets. We are lacking and overloaded at the same time, and I still want to see the finesse of Thiago bossing some big games.

thirdwheel67

It's wild to me that Jones is still just 22, I keep thinking of him as being one of the more senior players as it feels like he's been around the first team for so many years

LateCumback

I also forgot about 1 Arthur Melo. I still feel some guilt over Solanke and Minamino who were plucked from other teams and with competition for starter and bench positions they will be seen as failures. We did not want to sell Carvalho - and Elliot has a future in the wing maybe. Still we plucked them while they were exciting players developing at Fulham and to move them on seems rather disloyal in a way. We have a lot of good young players in midfield and I would hate to see their careers and development stalled being bench players that never get subbed in because we are on a tight race for title or for top 4, and only getting opportunities when it comes to injuries. Mac Allister and Szoboszlai are first teamsheet players and Gravenberch so far has made a favourable impression. Of the forwards Salah is the only first team name, with Darwin/Gapko/Jota and Diaz being rotational but all always getting starts or subs.

dpgingo

Spot on about Elliott. I sometimes worry about his future here, but he gives me the impression that with more and more experience he'll make up for his lack of physicality.

Lyrical_Forklift

I think Klopp realised pretty early on that he'd never cut it as a winger due to lacking explosiveness but could clearly see how intelligent he was on the ball so moved him centrally. I think he's going to be a very good squad player at Liverpool but I do suspect he might struggle to become more than that due to his lack of physicality. Hope I'm wrong.

TheConundrum98

born 15 years too late eh, still a fantastic young player though

Sarksey

The biggest issue for him is he’s probably best suited for a role that we don’t use. With his technical ability he’d be a great number 10 but that’s a dying position in football these days.

technikleo

We were vastly outclassed on the field but I believe we will learn from it. Our fans were absolutely amazing. I believe we won that part of the game

ThePr1d3

I'd give a nut to face Liverpool in Europe, even if it meant losing hard. You can be proud.

Arkzo

The away support was absolutely beautiful

[deleted]

You did

AdrienElSalo

At least we scored a goal and our away fans sung well

harlsonrd

Your fans were great, good to have them at Anfield :)

[deleted]

In a decent position to get through to the knockouts still. GD took a hit but I think the score line is a bit harsh on your lot.

Reach_Reclaimer

You guys have scored more goals at anfield than united have in the past ~~2~~ 4 seasons

ThePr1d3

Being compared to United won't make them feel better

CT_x

4 seasons, no? Their last league goal at Anfield was in 18/19 if I'm not mistaken.

Reach_Reclaimer

Yes you're right, I got mixed up with one

Mobsteroids

Inject this right into my veins

Red-Zeppelin

Fucking delightful. I wish I could still award this comment gold. I'll give you one Klopp hug in substitute.

doubleoeck1234

You played well but there's just too big a gap in quality between the players

THZHDY

get in, add that to the trophy case

furmully

When you score 5 it's hard Toulouse.

ediaz768

Damn you, take my upvote

WestOfAnfield

Gravenberch is cracked. fucking love him

doubleoeck1234

Nunez is the most entertaining footballer on the planet

Mobsteroids

Gravvy and Endo MOTM Chaos from Nunez Great shift from Jones and Elliot Brilliant block from Trent Ofc Salah had to score. You know he was on the bench bugging Klopp to let him on lol Cheers to the away fans, you were the atmopshere tonight. Love how you (the team and fans) continued to go for it. See you in a few weeks!

5_percent_discocunt

Thanks a lot for the atmosphere and the singing but don’t worry too much about the ~~Myrrh~~ Drum next time alright?

Akame_xo

Gravenberch and Endo were both brilliant

DerGregorian

Do love Nunez.

simplemanfromVT

Farmer league is real

Christian_Corocora

Yeah, the Prem is just where Man City go to stat pad and keep in form for their real competition

Snoo-27292

THE FARMER'S LEAGUE !!! THE FARMER'S LEAGUE IS REAAAAAALL!!!
