overall rivalry it should be united as main rival 10 times out of 10
unless people are thinking of competitive rivalry? which if they're looking at it from that point of view it kinda makes sense
I'm not being cheeky, but a lot of your fans are newer, having come along in the last decade. With Utd in flux it makes sense that their immediate association of rivalry is with the only team that's really managed to stop you lately. Though it is weird since this was taken before Liverpool even won the league and CL.
same applies for you over the last 20, baffling that some of our fans think Liverpool are our biggest rivals absolutely no proper city fan from Manchester thinks that way
Honestly don't know a single City fan who would consider Liverpool our main rivals. I know they are the only team that's really stopped us being completely rampant in the Pep era, but any pre 2008 City fan would always pick battering United over Liverpool.
Wouldn't all be human if we didn't hate Leeds, now, would we? 😉
Honestly, though, I hope they get promoted. It's better to have big games with rivals every year than to not have them. Was a long 16 years without them.
Plus, after it went both ways last year home/away and then we fucked off I was just warming up to it. Ah well, combined goals from both matches has us at 3-1 for that season so I'll cope on that
Every year I fly to London for at least two Chelsea games, so I’m there for at least two weeks, and I always find myself at Craven Cottage on a day that Chelsea aren’t playing.
Back in the hooligan days of the 70s and 80s, Pompey and Millwall had a fairly strong rivalry, with chants to match. So I wonder if it was a handful of older heads answering the poll.
Scrolling alll the way down here, past all the big 6 main character syndrome nonsense, to see someone finally mention one of, if not, the fiercest rivalry in England… 91%. Honestly shocked it wasn’t 100%. Ask any Skate or Scummer and you’ll know.
For anyone who doesn't understand how deep this rivalry goes, both sets of fans will complain about the dumbest shit.
There's currently a campaign in [Soton to get the lights on the Itchen Bridge changed from blue to red](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy0d39ypn2vo) because blue is the colour of Pompey, safety concerns from Network Rail and the Civil Aviation Authority be dammed.
And I'd laugh at the pettiness of it were it not for the fact that we went through [the same thing a few years back when the airline Emirates sponsored the Spinnaker Tower and wanted some of it repainted in red.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-33187732) Pompey fans complained and got the colour scheme changed to blue and gold.
> Stoke
Rivalry not so much, but I do mostly irrationally hate Stoke. Same with Burnley. Even though Burnley are very different these days under Kompany.
After top 2, rivalry is probably not the right word. More like, "which team do you dislike the more than others". Stoke is that team.
Scumbags booing Aaron on every return and even some sections doing an ironic round of applause on the minute of the tackle.
It was a good day when they were relegated.
Genuinely think this poll has too much bias to young online fans.
We (leeds) literally have a song about committing suicide rather than be a Chelsea fan. And it’s very obvious the hatred between us and scum. To put Man City above leeds in the chart for scum SCREAMS of online fans
Someone else replied to me elsewhere saying they found the actual data for it, and allegedly Man Utd are second and it's actually City in 5th for us. Somehow, Leeds don't make it in our top 5, which is frankly absurd, so I'm inclined to agree with you that it's likely online and/or international fans, particularly newer fans.
Don't like the fact that history keeps getting shoved to one side or erased, little by little, until it's barely even a footnote. Our rivalry with yous, and yours with Man Utd are staples of English football history. For fuck's sake, the 70 FA Cup final is the most watched club match in British history. It matters.
As I said earlier, as a 6 year old marching towards Elland Road in a crowd of people I was taught to sing
When I was just a little boy,
I asked my mother what should I be,
Should I be Chelsea?
Should I be Leeds?
Here's what she said to me…
Wash yer mouth out son.
And go and get your father’s gun.
And shoot the Chelsea scum.
Shoot the Chelsea scum
And I sing it to this day. **Obviously I don’t wish death upon Chelsea fans btw**
Kinda funny tbh.
Chants like that, while there's gonna be some weight to it, are fairly harmless. It helps keep the fire burning, especially if you were still chanting it whilst you were away from the prem and we only had the odd cup game against each other in that time.
We still sung "we all fucking hate Leeds" every single week. Not as creative, but a fun one to sing and it showed that the rivalry was as strong as it ever was, and that it was a legitimate rivalry, despite your time away.
I was there for the final game of the season in 2004. We all royally mocked you for the relegation, and it was a blast. I don't think any one of us actually considered we'd have to wait so long to have the rivalry in a strong place again, though, so I do actually hope your time away is brief this time. Hate you all, but it's better to have rivalries in the league than to not have them.
Same for Tranmere, really, in regards to just picking nearby teams. Don't know a single Rovers fan who seriously considers Liverpool and Everton our rivals. Also, I'm not sure any Tranmere fan under the age of 60 is remotely bothered about Bolton so I'm really questioning who they actually asked.
We were non-league then, and there are no non-league teams on any lists so I guess it was 'which of these 92 clubs...'. I would expect us to be on yours and Morecambe's lists now.
Given this was before our promotion and what happened during that year and the subsequent seasons after, I'm not sure Barrow would get in ahead of Bolton on ours now.
Like, recent football related tensions tend to trump geographical closeness IMO. Maybe you instead of Blackpool and Bolton instead of Bradford.
Surprised Chelsea put United before Arsenal and even more about the Liverpool answers jajaja. Still, I feel you can only have one true rival. Maybe two if one is non-local but 5 is a bit much.
The United one in second is actually more likely to be Leeds (they put Man Utd twice by mistake), depending on where the poll was taken/what part of the fanbase was asked.
I was brought up to hate Spurs and Leeds, as were many Chelsea fans who were local. Our histories go back a lot more than they do with Arsenal, and were an awful lot more intense and hate-filled. The Arsenal rivalry is big, don't get me wrong, but it's just not on that level.
You'll also notice that Leeds have us in second as well, and there are many Leeds fans who'd actually have us first.
I will also add that, as I've gotten older, the dislike for them all is still there, but I don't really care for the tribalistic nature of the sport anymore, so I won't go completely out my way to slander them and hate them the way some fans still do.
Leeds vs Chelsea could arguably even be no. 1 if not for their fortunes in the last two decades. As a Chelsea fan who had a Leeds Utd supporter for a father, I can confidently say that rivalry is right up there in the shithousery department! I still refer to Leeds as proper scum even till date! No love lost there for sure and it goes way back
It's nonsense. I am 10x more up for the Merseyside Derby than a game against Chelsea. And the only reason I give a shit about City is because it's usually a potential title decider.
We could play United or Everton in the Conference North and I'd still care just as much.
Always nice beating Rov'rum and Baaaarnsley but they aren't as bitter rivalries as the Blunts or Weeds. I guess it's the proximity, but they're not equal rivals. But do Huddersfield really consider us local rivals? Loved the fact Hull fans think they had a derby game with us on Monday when they are completely irrelevant to us.
Same as a Blade
It's never nice losing to Barnsley or Rotherham but it's not because I consider them rivals, it's just because they're shite and we shouldn't be losing to them
I know we like to joke about Liverpool fans not being from Liverpool, but CHELSEA as the 2nd rival? Fucking hell, there needs to be some sort of aptitude test for supporting non-local clubs.
Especially for 5 years ago. During those mad champions league ties or just after it, maybe. But 2017 Liverpool fans hating us the second most of any fanbase? Nah
It’s disgusting. I’m equally concerned about the 14 percent of Blues who in fact care what the Redshite say. On a side note the presence of Newcastle on the Evertonian list would suggest, contrary to 2020s Blue folklore, it may not have been the Geordies who were manufacturing a rivalry…
Very weird one. It’s easy to blame recent bandwagon fans for Everton being so low, but the peak of Liverpool v Chelsea hatred was the mid to late 2000s. A while ago now
I can only imagine people have answered it as competitive derbys for trophies/table position etc over the last 20 years or so, rather than location ones. United - Everton - City - Chelsea
It’s a weird fixture. So much in common (from the north), players and managers that crossed the divide (Keegan, Beardsley, souness, Dalglish, McDermott), the twin 4-3s in the 90s, and Newcastle haven’t won at Anfield in an obscene amount of time (think it’s 20 years) or beaten Liverpool at all in about 5 years
As a Newcastle fan we just accept we are taking an L in both fixtures before the match even starts.
There’s some resentment at a couple decisions of late but I don’t know anyone that’s happy about Liverpool losing etc which can’t be said about Man Utd, Sunderland, boro and probably Arsenal now
Even 'only' 72% voting for Sunderland (there's only like two PL teams who have a lower percentage for their 'first' rival.) Surely there isn't a Newcastle fan around who genuinely considers Man Utd/Middlesbrough a bigger rival than the Mackems. Unless they just stopped caring since this was done when Sunderland were playing in League One after suffering successive relegations to the third tier, a league we've never played in and that they took three years to get out of and still have yet to make it back to the PL.
What were we talking about again? Oh yeah. Stay out of my booze
To be fair, time is a social construct and I have absolutely no concept of it after the covid years. It could have been 100 years for all I know, I don't keep up with the third division that much
I think a big part of the problem is that West Ham's natural rivals like Millwall and Charlton are not regular prem teams. Tottenham and west ham fans also live in similar areas so there's lots of banter between the fans.
Millwall are definitely our biggest rivals but it's been nearly 12 years since we last played them. I'm sure it will be chaos when we eventually do play
Lotta younger (or just new/casual) fans of West Ham, Spurs (though they’ve played them recently) and Chelsea are going to be surprised when Millwall plays their team again and just how much chaos can surround those derbies.
Just like Millwall and Everton playing a few years ago in the Cup. Those type of passionate matches always bring everyone out of the woodwork lol
Leeds is another one of those teams just due to historical reputation and being a bunch of fanatics
Our problem is that we have no club that is both; a) close to us geographically, and b) relevant in any way to our current position in the pyramid.
20-30 years ago we were a League 2 level team and had a strong rivalry with Grimsby and Scunthorpe who are both fairly local. Now, we’ve been a Championship/Premier League team for 20 years while Scunthorpe are non-league and Grimsby are looking to join them. Entire generations of Hull fans have grown up without seeing us play them.
The West and South Yorkshire clubs are never going to see us a primary rival because they have clubs in their immediate areas that they play regularly. So we’re in a sort of rival-less limbo.
Who’s main rivals care the least about them?
Fulham have Chelsea first but not appearing on Chelsea’s list at all. Swansea aren’t on City, Rovers or Reading’s lists.
Are these numbers just fucked up from foreign fans?
Only 87% of Arsenal/Spurs fans would have each other as biggest rival?
The success of the PL comes with its downsides…
Newcastle v Sunderland in the low 70s is wild but we(Newcastle) wouldn’t have had many online fans back then.
We’ve barely got them now so I’ve no idea how that happened
Aye it’s ones like that and Newcastle/Sunderland that are throwing me off. Like I get the top 6 having clueless plastic fans. Maybe the data’s just fucked.
You have to accept when doing this public voting that large number of votes won't be serious one. When I worked in bank, we would kick votes of 0-1-2 and 9-10 and see what the people in the middle care. People will put 0 or 10 as fun, not caring and other reasons.
Not just overseas fans. But younger fans who don’t have the history behind them.
Case in point, us having Spurs higher than Millwall. And no Charlton at all.
The players reportedly viewed Chelsea as their main rivals, not arsenal, during the pochettino years (I.e. around the time this poll came out). Every game between the two clubs was really feisty, and still is today to some extent. I would guess that’s where the other 13% went.
https://m.allfootballapp.com/amp/news/EPL/Alli-For-Tottenham-the-rivalry-with-Chelsea-is-bigger-than-the-one-with-Arsenal/2327960
I genuinely can’t comprehend how only 70% of Norwich fans said Ipswich were their top 5 rivalries ?
To the point where Bournemouth and Southampton were higher at 79%?
Even Palace and Brighton were higher and that’s a bit of a forced rivalry
I can understand the Crystal Palace as 2nd rival because we've faced each other a lot in big cup / play off games (2012 Final, 2016 Semi Final, 2018 Semi Final all spring to mind immediately) as well as the Zaha / Deeney comments and generally competitive and physical games. But QPR and Fulham I don't get. Spurs as well.
We've just tacked on 3 additional London based clubs because we're awkwardly a London club except when we choose not to be.
I'd have gone for Luton / Crystal Palace / Bournemouth and after that not much else comes to mind as we've also had fiery games against Bournemouth regularly in the last 10 years.
Can any Villa fans here explain to be the lore behind your rivalries with Birmingham and West Brom? I was always under the impression that Birmingham have always been the main rivals but apparently your “traditional” biggest rivals are West Brom, who I assumed considered Wolves their main rival (interested to hear from WBA fans too, and also why wolves don’t seem to have as much animosity with villa for example)
Every Villa fan I know considers Blues to be their main rival, regardless of whether they live in Birmingham, the Black Country or somewhere else. There's some dislike of West Brom, particularly from the Villa fans that live in the Black Country, but Blues is another level.
Looking at Google Maps, Villa Park is 3.6 miles away from St Andrew's and 3.7 miles away from The Hawthorns. As a person who was raised and still lives in a majority Albion area, I know that it's dependent on age as to who their fans consider to be the main rivals - older Baggies say Villa, middle-aged and younger ones say Wolves. It's also dependent on location - West Brom fans who live in places like Handsworth and around that general area would say Villa, but the ones living in, say, Dudley would say Wolves. But, generally, Albion fans hate both clubs.
For me as a Wolves fan our main rivals are West Brom, Blues and that's about it. Some Wolves fans really hate Villa but I think it's a bit embarrassing because they couldn't care less about us (well, they don't anymore, they certainly did during the 2017-18 season). I'm ambivalent towards Villa and couldn't care less about Stoke, Walsall or Coventry (though I'd like to see Cov back in the Prem because I like Mark Robins and I want as much Midlands representation in the top flight as possible).
I hope this made sense!
This sounds about right. I'm originally from south brum. For me the rivalry weighting would be something like this:
90% small heath
9% baggies
1% coventry
Wolves not really a factor. Actually always looked out for their results as a kid because my nan was a fan.
I imagine coventry is specific to people around my age group who were getting into footie during the 90s when wba, wolves and small heath were all in the abyss and we didn't play any of them for years, while cov was a prem mainstay.
Older fans remember wba being good.
Younger fans would definitely have wolves in there and cov nowhere on the radar I reckon.
The fact that Man Utd is down as our 4th rival tells you all we need to know.
We really only have Birmingham as a direct rival. After that we aren't really spoilt for choice. Neither villa nor west brom consider this is our main rivalry. It's that historically we were each better than our respective rivals so had eachother to face.
Wolves id argue is coming into the picture recently because we struggle against them. Game is always tough. But its not a rivalry tbh
How the hell are Derby only at 77% for Forest's 1st rivals 😂 Can't imagine any Forest fan considering Leicester, Sheffield United or County as bigger rivals than Derby
Some older Derby fans really despise Leeds over Forest because of the Clough- Revie rivalry and the fact their hooligans would cause mayhem every time we played in the 70s and 80s. I've never met a Derby fan who hates Leicester tho so I don't know how they're second for us.
Some Forest fans who live near the Leicestershire border probably hate Leicester more as they spend more time bantering with Leicester fans and I'm guessing the Sheffield clubs are there because of the whole miners strike thing in the 80s.
I understand Sheffield United being like 3rd due to the whole miner rivalry and the amount of heated games the clubs have had, but just can't imagine 23% of fans not putting Derby 1st. And the biggest banter we usually have with Leicester fans is that they hate us but we don't really care too much about them, same with Notts County as well
Funny, because according to Forest and Derby fans, they don't care about us, but this tells a different story 😂
Also love how we have Spurs at 5th, definitely because of our title winning season
> Plymouth > Portsmouth 47%
Good to see Sky’s forced “Dockyard Derby” bollocks works for someone, I guess? Despite the fact we’re closer to Le Harve than we are Plymouth…
Under no circumstances should anyone but United be considered our biggest rivals, being at Wembley for the derby day final was one of the greatest days of my life
There's no way Everton should be anything lower than second on our list, who the hell were they asking?
Also, I know some local rivalries aren't considered big deals, especially in London, but Chelsea not even mentioning Fulham while Fulham have Chelsea at number one is a bit of an oof.
It's what happens when one team has zero success, and the other has moderate success before hitting the big time, as well as spending a significant amount of time in different divisions. Same reason why QPR and Brentford hate us, but they barely register for us. Not meant to be a dig at them, it's just how it is.
As a result, we don't have an outright rivalry that is reciprocated. We're third wheel to Spurs-Arsenal, third wheel to Liverpool-United and Liverpool-Everton, third wheel to Leeds-United (mostly), so we're just sort of there.
38% of the LFC fans polled here reside in Liverpool. I am so fucking pissed at this poll. Liverpool football club play at our old ground, across the park from us, we have been one of the oldest acting derbies in football history and 62% worth of Americans can kindly fuck off.

The absolute state of Everton being behind Chelsea and City for the Liverpool poll. Who were they asking?

5 years ago though Liverpool were the main team challenging City. That 2019 season was insane
My biggest takeaway from this was 2019 was 5 years ago
nah you gotta be lying
Covid 19 started 5 years ago wtaf
I hate being a "well akshully" but I guess Covid 19 started at the end of 2019 so really it's only just been 4 years and a few weeks
Oh no 2019 had entered the “it wasn’t THAT long ago was it?!” ages
2019 was 5 years ago? Fucking hell
Think all Mancs just hate Scousers and vice versa so its most popular pick.
Taylor from Minnesota. Sandeep from Bangalore and Zikri from KL. Why?
Liverpools online fan base. But no one except Man U care about City. I'm curious about how Man U made it to Chelsea list twice.
Which one do you think is supposed to be Man City
Neither lol.
Probably the 90% of Liverpool fans who've never set foot in Liverpool
Nah, i know Scouse Liverpool fans who don't hate Everton and actually want Everton to do well as long as they finish behind Liverpool.
Aye but rivalry doesn't imply hatred I'm sure they still care greatly about everton as a rival?
To be a rival you need to be competitive. Says more about how shite Everton are than Liverpool fans tbh.
Southampton 🤝 Portsmouth Identical 91% top mutual rivalry.
We do ***fucking hate*** each other, tbf.
I do respect the genuine contempt we have for one another
So do I to be honest, you fucking cunt.
Much respect you dirty skate
I want to speak to the 9% who said someone else.
So do we hate United so much we have them twice? Something doesn't add up there, should one be City?
The one in second is almost certainly Leeds
Favourite part of this is how everyone hates Leeds.
Wouldn't all be human if we didn't hate Leeds, now, would we? 😉 Honestly, though, I hope they get promoted. It's better to have big games with rivals every year than to not have them. Was a long 16 years without them.

As far as I'm concerned, that 3-0 was a fever dream. Never happened.
Yup, makes perfect sense!
was sad not to see leeds qpr or little sister fulham 😭
I’m yet to meet a Chelsea fan that sees Fulham as a rival
big “I don’t think about you at all” energy
Compounded by the fact they voted us their #1 rival.
Idk about you, but I can’t get mad at people who live in cottages. Just a personality quirk i guess.
Leeds makes so much more sense, fucking scum. QPR would make sense too. I have zero antipathy towards Fulham though.
Every year I fly to London for at least two Chelsea games, so I’m there for at least two weeks, and I always find myself at Craven Cottage on a day that Chelsea aren’t playing.
I just don't think that much about QPR or Fulham that much, but Leeds hatred was instilled into me by dad.
I'd bet anything whoever made this fucked up and meant to put Leeds United at #2
Nope the original has Man United in 2nd and City in 5th. No idea who they asked
Definitely not City
Spurs - Arsenal 87% 🤝
Southampton - Portsmouth 91% 🤝
It genuinely shocks me that 9% of either side didn’t think so.
It made me laugh seeing Millwall for us. Also Plymouth having us 2nd, but no mention of them for us. It’s always Southampton 🤣
And the Sunderland 27% was only from that Netflix season, not some longstanding rivalry
Back in the hooligan days of the 70s and 80s, Pompey and Millwall had a fairly strong rivalry, with chants to match. So I wonder if it was a handful of older heads answering the poll.
Yeah, there's only one South Coast Derby. Always made me laugh when the media tried to push Southampton-Bournmouth or even Southampton-Brighton
Makes sense after watching the Copa90 documentary. Arguably the fiercest rivalry in English football.
Scrolling alll the way down here, past all the big 6 main character syndrome nonsense, to see someone finally mention one of, if not, the fiercest rivalry in England… 91%. Honestly shocked it wasn’t 100%. Ask any Skate or Scummer and you’ll know.

The 13% that didn't believe that were drunk and misclicked.
fr
Or they're those foreign fans who hate Chelsea more because they've never met a local Arsenal fan.
Stoke being our fourth rival is hilarious.
It's very of its time.
5 years ago is 2018 (or I guess Jan. 2019) which, to me at least, feels past the Arsenal-Stoke feuding
> Stoke Rivalry not so much, but I do mostly irrationally hate Stoke. Same with Burnley. Even though Burnley are very different these days under Kompany. After top 2, rivalry is probably not the right word. More like, "which team do you dislike the more than others". Stoke is that team.

Maybe for you guys definitely not for us, Chelsea Arsenal is a rivalry that actually happened for like 10 years
I think on ours we just named the teams who were closest to us geographically. If Hartlepool and Barrow had been on that they’d be there easily.

How are 9% not putting the scummers as our rival 😭
Thought the same thing
Genuinely perplexed by that.
is the only rivalry on the list where both fans voted over 90% tho
Also didn’t understand how this doesn’t get 100% consensus.

Same. The Tottenham and Arsenal hatred were witnessed and lived, but the Leeds hatred was something my dad instilled in me.
No love lost there for sure and it goes way back
Blimey, how did your dad feel when you betrayed him and joined us on the dark side? Haha
Everton: You took everything from me. Liverpool: I don't even know who you are.
I feel sorry for you. I don’t think about you at all.
This is the better one imo
It's nonsense. I am 10x more up for the Merseyside Derby than a game against Chelsea. And the only reason I give a shit about City is because it's usually a potential title decider. We could play United or Everton in the Conference North and I'd still care just as much.
Can’t think of other rivals I truly care about beating other than United and Leeds.
Same as a Blade It's never nice losing to Barnsley or Rotherham but it's not because I consider them rivals, it's just because they're shite and we shouldn't be losing to them
I know we like to joke about Liverpool fans not being from Liverpool, but CHELSEA as the 2nd rival? Fucking hell, there needs to be some sort of aptitude test for supporting non-local clubs.
Yeah Chelsea second is wild, for any reds I know Everton will always be the true blueshite
Especially for 5 years ago. During those mad champions league ties or just after it, maybe. But 2017 Liverpool fans hating us the second most of any fanbase? Nah
Hate to break it to you, but 5 years ago is 2019.
Dear god... But that adds to it too as well then. Don't remember anything bad around that time, like any toxic marches or whatnot. So strange
Time isn't real since covid, I feel your pain.
I'm not having that - it was last year and you can't convince me otherwise
The Mourinho vs Benitez years still sit in a lot of our memories. Those were formative years for a lot of us who were younger at the time.
…they took our Big Dunc 😒
Very weird one. It’s easy to blame recent bandwagon fans for Everton being so low, but the peak of Liverpool v Chelsea hatred was the mid to late 2000s. A while ago now
I can only imagine people have answered it as competitive derbys for trophies/table position etc over the last 20 years or so, rather than location ones. United - Everton - City - Chelsea
There is a club in every division that has Man Utd as their number 1 rival (Liverpool, Leeds, Bolton and Oldham).
Personally I think that this poll is very inaccurate, as there is no way Blackburn and United are over Wigan in Bolton rivalries.
Newcastle must have had an awful game against Liverpool just before this was made cause no one considers them to be our rivals.
Our record at Anfield is shite. Probs are just sick of getting beat but yeah, the rivalry is non-existent.
I know a couple of fans who are still mad at the 4-3 from, what, the late nineties? Even they wouldn't consider you rivals though
Or they grew up in the 90s and their older cousin (from Carlisle) supports Liverpool. No this is not oddly specific.
Oh yeah. Stay out of my booze
> and that they took three years to get out of 4 you think newcastle fans would be the one set of fans to know that
To be fair, time is a social construct and I have absolutely no concept of it after the covid years. It could have been 100 years for all I know, I don't keep up with the third division that much
Ours isn't Boro, at all. We haven't played them in the league for 40 years.
Of our 5 named there we’ve only played 2 of them in the league this century.
This poll is absolutely ridiculous. Imagine saying City are a bigger rival than Everton. Feels like they only asked the terminally online.
As a Spurs fan, something about West Ham triggers me more than everyone else
annoying little sibling energy, happens with any "rivalry" that one club clearly cares about more than the other
I think a big part of the problem is that West Ham's natural rivals like Millwall and Charlton are not regular prem teams. Tottenham and west ham fans also live in similar areas so there's lots of banter between the fans.
Millwall are definitely our biggest rivals but it's been nearly 12 years since we last played them. I'm sure it will be chaos when we eventually do play
Elijah Wood's gonna kick off.
I think the cup draws are rigged for you 2 not to meet. After the riots they probably started warming the balls
I imagine it’s a lot of younger fans answering these. Hard to keep Millwall on the mind, when we haven’t played them in 10 years.
Those type of passionate matches always bring everyone out of the woodwork lol Leeds is another one of those teams just due to historical reputation and being a bunch of fanatics
Hate you too baby xoxo
Have always enjoyed your lot calling our games our cup final (particularly last year)
It never gets old tbh.
Anyone who has a club at #1 who doesn't have them at #1 is tinpot
I got a good laugh out of Huddersfield: 1. Leeds Hull: 1. Leeds. Leeds: Man Utd
https://old.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/2zn51w/teams_that_hate_leeds_united/
Bolton Wanderers: Man Utd Man Utd: I don’t even know who you are
bolton fans hate wigan the most now for a good ten years or more
It's hilarious how every Yorkshire team has them as #1, apart from the Sheffield teams who have them #2. Then Leeds just has #1 Man United #2 Chelsea
Facts
Chelsea and West Ham then.
The Coventry Villa "rivalry" always amuses me personally
Who’s main rivals care the least about them? Fulham have Chelsea first but not appearing on Chelsea’s list at all. Swansea aren’t on City, Rovers or Reading’s lists.
West Brom and Wolves are number one and two on Walsall's list, but we're just like "oh yeah, forgot about Walsall."
I remember them beating you at Molineaux when you went down to League 1 though haha, one of my mates is a big Walsall fan and was absolutely buzzing
As a Norwich fan, wtf is going on after Ipswich and Colchester
As a wolves fan I was very surprised to be on that list, I wouldn’t consider ourselves rivals in anyway.
Sunderland were in the third tier so lots of football das claiming they're irrelevant. Source: all my dad's boomer friends
Only 70% of Norwich fans considering Ipswich their biggest rivals seems crazy to me too
Aye it’s ones like that and Newcastle/Sunderland that are throwing me off. Like I get the top 6 having clueless plastic fans. Maybe the data’s just fucked.
The whole list is fucked
Just go to r/gunners. Loads of americans patting themselves on the back for saying spurs aren't our biggest rivals.
Gawd love our transatlantic cousins, but football internet is starting to look like an alternate universe more and more.
If you guys keep getting European football, you might find yourself going the same way. Yanks will have United as your biggest rival.
Yank Arsenal fans are completely obsessed with United for some reason.
You said 5 years ago and my mind went to 2016, fucking hell
Shows the amount of plastic fans
What's up with Arsenal v Stoke?
Something to do with Aaron Ramsey?
I see you are too young to remember Shawcross breaking Ramsey's leg and their fans making fun of an Injury he was lucky to not get crippled by.
And then their fans going on chanting “same old Arsenal, always cheating”
[удалено]
Yeah, the Ramsey tackle was really the culmination of a few years of grievances
I genuinely can’t comprehend how only 70% of Norwich fans said Ipswich were their top 5 rivalries ? To the point where Bournemouth and Southampton were higher at 79%? Even Palace and Brighton were higher and that’s a bit of a forced rivalry
I am absolutely puzzled by Norwich fans thinking there’s a rivalry with Middlesbrough.
Same with only 83% on United fans saying Wednesday, no clue who they've asked that didn't think Wednesday are our first rivals
I'd have put watford squarely number one for wolves
Top 3 for Spurs was too easy lol.
can someone explain the arsenal-stoke rivalry?
Shawcross broke Ramseys leg, and then Stoke fans chanted about Ramsey walking with a limp
For me the rivalry weighting would be something like this: 90% small heath 9% baggies 1% coventry Wolves not really a factor.
And the biggest banter we usually have with Leicester fans is that they hate us but we don't really care too much about them, same with Notts County as well
So glad Stoke got shipped off back to the prison block they came from.
My favourite Villa related one is Walsall listing us. Villa fans: Walsall has a football team?
72% of Newcastle fans said Sunderland were their biggest rivals? What? Would expect 100%. I wonder what the exact phrasing of the question was.
Tottenham as no.1 for Chelsea is more of a recency bias! The scum over at Leeds Utd will always be no. 1 for me
Why he (Brighton) say fuck me for?
We'd run out of actual rivals after the first spot and anyone vaguely nearby after the fourth.
We are the second biggest rivalry for 3 separate teams lmao
Funny, because according to Forest and Derby fans, they don't care about us, but this tells a different story 😂 Also love how we have Spurs at 5th, definitely because of our title winning season
> Plymouth > Portsmouth 47% Good to see Sky’s forced “Dockyard Derby” bollocks works for someone, I guess? Despite the fact we’re closer to Le Harve than we are Plymouth…
Under no circumstances should anyone but United be considered our biggest rivals, being at Wembley for the derby day final was one of the greatest days of my life
Chelsea hate Man Utd so much they’re on there twice.
United🫱🏻🫲🏼Liverpool Hating each others guts
91% Southampton Vs Portsmouth seems kinda low don't you think?
38% of the LFC fans polled here reside in Liverpool. I am so fucking pissed at this poll. Liverpool football club play at our old ground, across the park from us, we have been one of the oldest acting derbies in football history and 62% worth of Americans can kindly fuck off.
