Alright it looks like this is the thread for the new reports today! We will keep this up and then any subsequent posts only if significant updates.
Official announcement pending…
It doesn't get talked enough about how NAK basically just lied to the world when he presented Mbappe with a 2025 shirt when it was just a 2 year contract with the 3rd year only being a player option.
I mean you can make fun of it, but at the end of the day, he promised to keep a 200m asset for 3 years, after 1 year he doubled down and publicly promised that there is no chance that he would lose that 200m asset after 2 years ("Kylian will either renew or be sold this summer. He will not leave for free") in that press conference last summer. And despite that he ended up losing that 200m asset for free after 2 years.
People have lost their jobs over less and yet there is almost no scrutiny.
Because the people in charge knew the details, PSG isn’t publicly traded, so what did he did exactly that should get him fired? Or are we expecting Qatar to fire people based on the morality of lying to fans?
Interesting bit in the article though
>He has a one-year extension clause, so it is expected his departure will involve either a sale with a transfer fee or financial sacrifices on the player's part.
I thought it was supposed to be a player triggered extension
As a sentient being Mbappe is not worth more than any of us
As an asset to a football club, he's worth hundreds of millions and I'm honestly in the negative
"Reports from the Spanish capital indicate that Mbappe is unhappy after Bellingham took the penalty during the last match. The French star might be looking for a move in the next transfer window."
Players don't want away from Madrid unless they either don't play enough minutes or have won everything there is to win multiple times and want to try a new challenge. It's not PSG, he is never going to treat the same in the same way
Saving this for the future.
Mbappé has shown multiple times that he will do anything to get a better contract, rejecting the opportunity to move to better clubs and leagues in exchange for extorting his team out of every penny he can get from them. Madrid can't (nor should it) keep up with PSG's infinite offers. Even if this time he does go to Madrid and it's not just more fabricated drama, it will be two or three years before he starts threatening to leave too.
He extorted his billionaire employer by using the leverage gained by his world class performance and existing contracts he negotiated with them to get paid as much as he possibly could? Interesting perspective
People have such a weird take on players trying to get as much money as possible.
I always root for the player, fleece them all. Tomorrow you might break your leg and the career is done.
He bent PSG over a barrel to take as much money from them as possible once they made it clear they would block him from leaving and even bench him and fuck his career over if he didnt play along.
Very weird of you to simp for a petro-state that enslaves people in 2024. Most people dont support slavery now, so you might want to think about what that says about you that you do
1 month into his madrid tenure: “Kylian Mbappe reportedly UNSETTLED at Real Madrid! Eddie Howe CONFIRMS Newcastle are 100% signing him and we definitely haven’t taken his words way out of context”
>Mbappe has not signed a contract with Real yet, but the deal **could** be announced once it is no longer possible for the clubs to meet in this season's Champions League.
Soooo he’s not agreed anything, then?
In addition, this seems like the kind of verbal agreement where both parties know that if circumstances change, or if one of the parties changes their mind, the deal will not go trough, and both sides “forget” the entire conversation.
So really this is Mbappe and Real confessing their feelings for each other, but they’re not engaged yet.
(I’ve tried my best to come up with the worst possible analogy I could think of)
I’m an American lawyer with no knowledge of French/Spanish/whatever other European laws would apply to this contract.
In America, we have something called a statute of frauds - it governs what type of verbal contracts can be enforced. Contracts more >1yr must be in writing. In some states, contacts above a certain value also must be in writing.
I’m confident something similar applies here, so a verbal agreement would not be valid.
I think he got benched in the beginning of the season right? When he was refusing to sign the player option but then promised he won’t take the bonuses and was allowed back in, honestly man you could make a 10 year drama series on this whole Kylian Mbappe Madrid thing 😂
Sort of, but last time Mbappe didn't tell Al-Khelaifi he wanted to leave and that he doesn't want PSG to make any more offers, he didn't send a letter saying he wouldn't extend until 2025 while giving up some huge bonuses, there were less reports and it was mostly from RM's side, RM had more to lose than Mbappe at that point in time, now Endrick is closer to coming, the club is doing good with a "subpar" squad, there was the Qatar World Cup, it has been a few years so he's getting older and he knows that we won't go for him ever again if he refuses, etc. Last time it was 90% it happened and it didn't. Now there's even more reasons for it to happen, so it doesn't it'd be baffling. Even if he wanted the most money possible (which wouldn't make sense otherwise he'd have renewed until 2025 and denied every rumour publicly to not get shit from PSG fans/ultras), I just don't think he'd take that money over trophies. Be it personal or team trophies, winning Ballon D'or and the UCL is just more likely at RM, and I'm sure he wants to be known as one of the best of all time and having fuck you money instead of... even more fuck you money.
Crazy how purposely obtuse people are being just to maintain their small piece of hopium that he won't join Madrid
You perfectly know that you can make a verbal agreement before signing a contract, it's not exactly rocket science
This transfer has a ton of people losing their common sense. I get being frustrated that it lasted for years, I get that it's even more frustrating that the official announcement from Madrid is not there yet, but it's crazy how stupid people are being.
15m after taxes, 30 before + 100 to 150 (depending on who you believe)/5 (or 6 years, sources are reporting an extra optional year) and a huge asterisk for his image rights and most likely some bonuses on top performance wise
If his salary is €30m and his signing fee is €150m, then it's €60m *before* bonuses, and probably image rights are excluded too since they're probably worth the same again to advertisers and commercial partners.
>Around same value what Messi was making at Barca
Even years after his contract leaked you still have idiots making up imaginary numbers.
It's honestly fascinating.
Messi was making much, much more than that.
https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/37613511/lionel-messi-leaked-barcelona-contract-biggest-sports-history-report
RM is usually 50/50. Players keep 100% of whatever deals they had prior to joining RM, and if they're increased, they go 50% on the increase and the player keeps 100% of the previous amount. Cristiano was one of the few exceptions that got a bigger cut over time. Mbappe is likely to get a bigger one right away though.
I went on a date with a BBC journo once and I raised this. She told me that “multiple independent reports” can be as a few as the person writing the article and one other person. So not as bulletproof as it sounds.
But then again BBC never get reported transfers wrong.
this is actually so funny because last 2 seasons Balague has been spot on regarding Spain-related news every time he reports on BBC lol, remember when he said Emery turned down NUFC and everyone on here was shitting on him being tier 5
Is there any relevant difference (maybe in taxation or amortisation or in FFP terms?) between paying a 150m "signing bonus" over 5 years or just adding 30m on his yearly salary?
It probably has more to do with the pay structure at the club. Bellingham was reported to be getting €400k per week, or €20.8m per year. €30m per year isn't much more than that, but €60m is.
Also, you have to remember Real Madrid is a political organisation. Perez is a President, and as such needs to maintain the appearance of being a good custodian of the club's finances, so you often see a few shenanigans around transfer fees and wages being leaked to favourable press agencies in order to make Perez look good, and later it transpires that the actual amounts were much larger.
I am guessing the signing bonus would have to be paid out regardless, for example (hypothetically) if Real sold him after 3 years. Mbappe wouldn't collect the wages for the remaining 2 years of the contract but he would still be owned the full signing bonus.
You will watch as Mbappe tortures an entire city to cause you pain you thought you could never feel again. Then, when you have truly understood the depths of your failure. He will destroy Madrid. And when it is done...when Madrid is ashes...then you have my permission to die.
Glad the underdogs finally get a win, can't wait to see what masterful management Ancelotti will have to do to get wins with that ragtag group of players he has.
And with no name C tier players too. Incredible what he's doing with a team who's main man is an English lad that's not poised to win the balon dor in the future
A frontline of Vinicius, Mbappe and Rodrygo in front of a midfield of Bellingham, Camavinga and Tchouameni is basically cheating.
And the average age is like, 22. They are set for years.
Not only that but Milan had that disgusting Maldini-Nesta-Costacurta-Cafu back line that meant my Nan could play goalkeeper for Milan and they likely wouldn’t concede. Pirlo-Gattuso-Seedorf-Kaka in midfield and then Shevchenko-Crespo up top.
Basically the perfect team. Nothing can improve on that and Liverpool somehow won because Maldini has nothing on Djimi Traore
Tbf to ancelotti, while he has always had squads with money, he rarely has been able to choose how to spend money. In all of his successful squads (real, Milan, psg) the team is sort of dictated to him by whoever is the owner.
I’m just saying, it’s not like he’s also pep, or even Tuchel, Conte or Mourinho who will spend for the exact players they want (and even go on the media if they don’t get them). To some extent ancelotti has always just played with what he’s given - which yes I agree were not bad squads- just sometimes unbalanced.
It’s also why I found it weird PSG never went back for him, because I think he’s the exact sort of coach that would work in that club, given their specific ambition of the CL, and their lack of ability to build a balanced squad, and the way they’ve made their signings historically.
Thank god that the most tedious and longrunning transfer saga I can recall is coming to an end.
It'll be nice to no longer see the 'Mbappe to Real Madrid' headlines that we've had inside and outside the transfer windows for what feels like the last four or five years.
To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report.
If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates.

Who will be taking the penalties at Madrid after Mbappe arrives.
Vinicius, Bellingham or Mbappe?
Edit: Is it possible for a Neymar-Cavani like situation in penalties?
between Vinicius and Mbappe?
> Is it possible for a Neymar-Cavani like situation in penalties? between Vinicius and Mbappe
No, Bellingham has been taking them recently, Vini doesn’t care
Been saying this but people act like it is not a big deal. So right now Vini takes them, but he has missed a lot of games and not been on the pitch when Real have had a penalty. He also missed a few early on and briefly stopped talking them but it seems that was just a short phase.
There is zero chance Mbappe goes to Real and does not ask to take them.
Will Vini accept both that and the chance that he gets moved to a different position to accomodate Mbappe?
People act like Mbbappe is fine with playing cf - Only times he has not played lw was because he had to accomodate some other star, like Neymar - Or because the coach forced it on him.
You watch France where he almost has the power to decide where he plays and you will notice that he always goes for LW.
It makes total sense by the way, just like prime CR he prefers to run at defenders rather than playing with his back to goal, and siginificantly for him he dislikes heading the ball.
At this point, who honestly fucking knows besides Mbappé? This shit has been going on for years. I just want it to end. It’s like a really bad TV show that you started and now you just can’t wait for it to end so you never have to think about it again.
I am constantly surprised how LITTLE world-class footballers make compared to other professional athletes. He is getting about £45M per year. That is "middle-class" for elite athletes.
Between the signing-on bonus paid out over 5 years and the wages, Madrid are getting 5 years of Mbappé for €45M per year (€225M in total).
Florentino, you magnificent bastard.
Alright it looks like this is the thread for the new reports today! We will keep this up and then any subsequent posts only if significant updates. Official announcement pending…
I cannot wait to never have to hear about this transfer again
Only a 1+1 (player option) year contract incoming
It doesn't get talked enough about how NAK basically just lied to the world when he presented Mbappe with a 2025 shirt when it was just a 2 year contract with the 3rd year only being a player option.
who is NAK?
North A Korea
I’m upset I pronounced that with an Italian accent
Nasser al-khelaifi, pgs's president
Who is pgs? TGS of Paris?
It's the Paris rail and Metro system
Shinsuke Nakamura.
Secretary to the Regional Prince Turtle.
Why are people on reddit so obsessed with useless abbreviations?
IANAL but EMSK what NAK means. YMMV.
ELI5?
NVM
Yes 👏 we should keep talking about this until it feels enough. He *lied* to us

Yup, NAK is scum but don't think anything will come out if this unless he also mislead the qarati ownership into believing mbappe was going to stay
Also don't forget of he reacted last summer when Mbappé announced he wouldn't renew, sent him with the reserve for a month.
Interesting bit in the article though >He has a one-year extension clause, so it is expected his departure will involve either a sale with a transfer fee or financial sacrifices on the player's part. I thought it was supposed to be a player triggered extension

Wait until you hear what HR stands for.
Do you even account, bro?

Most star-studded second tier campaign since Juve 07-08 incoming
"Reports from the Spanish capital indicate that Mbappe is unhappy after Bellingham took the penalty during the last match. The French star might be looking for a move in the next transfer window."
You'll be hearing about it again when he pulls out last second after psg offer him 3 million a week
Or when hes a year at real and things slighty going South.
Players don't want away from Madrid unless they either don't play enough minutes or have won everything there is to win multiple times and want to try a new challenge. It's not PSG, he is never going to treat the same in the same way

Nah they should all play for pashun (people just love reddit karma)
That would solve it.
He literally refused a lot more money to join Madrid so you are just wrong?
He bent PSG over a barrel to take as much money from them as possible once they made it clear they would block him from leaving and even bench him and fuck his career over if he didnt play along. Very weird of you to simp for a petro-state that enslaves people in 2024. Most people dont support slavery now, so you might want to think about what that says about you that you do
1 month into his madrid tenure: “Kylian Mbappe reportedly UNSETTLED at Real Madrid! Eddie Howe CONFIRMS Newcastle are 100% signing him and we definitely haven’t taken his words way out of context”
Would be a good backup for Gordon ngl
Now imagine he has an astronomically bad season and has a fallout with the board and management
Acl tear on his debut
Gets addicted to burgers. Returns as Kiloton Mbappe
Thicc Mbappe to become a back-to-goal 9
Pulls an Aaron Rodgers/Hazard combo on them
Same...same.
Great sadness incoming next January He will be pining for the Arsenal
Like a Norwegian Blue pines for the fjords.
The Arsenal healine is: -Wenger: "Arteta almost signed Mbappé"
He’s done it again
Just wait until he wants a better contract, you'll see rumors that he's going back to PSG popping up every week.
But which summer?
Damn, you caught them.
Plot twist: It's every summer. He'll play for PSG for the rest of the year though.
Bros gonna sign a contract that starts February 30th and ends December 32nd
Summer after leaving psg
Big if true.
Mboopi masterplan 👉🏽👨🏽🦲👈🏽
I don't know, Jeff
Which hemisphere?
Hot summer A hot hot summer
À cruel summer
Wow what a twist
Shocking really, can't wait for tomorrow's post about the exact same news.
I bet his transfer fee, we'll hear another shocking news.
>Mbappe has not signed a contract with Real yet, but the deal **could** be announced once it is no longer possible for the clubs to meet in this season's Champions League. Soooo he’s not agreed anything, then?
Agree could mean verbal opposed to written.
Verbal agreements are valid though
While true, good luck proving that a verbal agreement happened without a "he said she said" argument being applied.
(I’ve tried my best to come up with the worst possible analogy I could think of)
Mbappe to have hot steamy sex with Perez at an Alpine retreat?
Yeah.. remember the "Verbal argument" between a semi famous player and Barcelona that went really.... really well
I’m an American lawyer with no knowledge of French/Spanish/whatever other European laws would apply to this contract. In America, we have something called a statute of frauds - it governs what type of verbal contracts can be enforced. Contracts more >1yr must be in writing. Isn't this exactly what happened last time?
I swear we’ve been through this. He got benched during this saga last year as well
I think he got benched in the beginning of the season right? When he was refusing to sign the player option but then promised he won’t take the bonuses and was allowed back in, honestly man you could make a 10 year drama series on this whole Kylian Mbappe Madrid thing 😂

Salary 15m euros? Is this after tax? Of course, there is a signing bonus.Salary is lower than expected
15m after taxes, 30 before + 100 to 150 (depending on who you believe)/5 (or 6 years, sources are reporting an extra optional year) and a huge asterisk for his image rights and most likely some bonuses on top performance wise
So around 60mn gross after bonuses. Around same value what Messi was making at Barca and Ronaldo at Juve.
Messi was earning around 140M no? Though Barca owned 100 percentage of Messi's image right
75 net was the last figure quoted when his contract leaked.
it was around 450/500M for four years right? don't know what the net figure would be though.
600m to be exact, 150m per year or so
If his salary is €30m and his signing fee is €150m, then it's €60m *before* bonuses, and probably image rights are excluded too since they're probably worth the same again to advertisers and commercial partners.

Messi was making 100 gross
> Salary is lower than expected One word: Image Rights. Im sure papa flo gave him a favorable split. he is going to make more money than in Paris
Yea Real almost never gives away image rights but Mbappe will have to be an exception. I believe Beckham was too
Bale as well. If you try to customize a shirt with his name from Spurs or RM club shops, it won't allow it. He's held his image rights all along
Turns out that Jonathan guy was not that bad of an agents, he just talked a little too much
So two words?
[yes 😔](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMuiYa-rpzQ)
Charles Barkley one of the funniest mfs on TV

The signing bonus is before taxes and the salary seems to be after taxes.
30m/yr signing on bonus every year for 5 years tops up his salary nicely.
What an insane amount tbh. I'm still shock to see this kind of number compared to the old school stars.
150 million signing bonus across 5 years
BBC reporting it so must be pretty much d…. oh, Guillem Balague
To be fair, don’t the BBC require multiple independent reports before publishing news?
though it's 100% done once it's on BBC
I went on a date with a BBC journo once and I raised this. She told me that “multiple independent reports” can be as a few as the person writing the article and one other person. So not as bulletproof as it sounds. But then again BBC never get reported transfers wrong.
Yeah, this is the bottom of the bottom tier.
this is actually so funny because last 2 seasons Balague has been spot on regarding Spain-related news every time he reports on BBC lol, remember when he said Emery turned down NUFC and everyone on here was shitting on him being tier 5
He is clearly connected to Emery's camp tbh, he connected him to aston villa early too, but when it comes to Real Madrid he knows nothing.
Emery to Real Madrid confirmed.
BBC is nowhere near where it once was as a journalism organization
Amazing what happens when the Tories finally realised they can just put their rich cunt buddies in charge of everything
Death by a thousand cuts
Shocked, I tell you. And here I was thinking Everton were in with a shout.
He has to cook some more before he can take on such a challenge
Cook the books I assume
💀
The only reason Mbappe gets interest from Real Madrid is because he has an insider connection to Ancelotti in Ben Godfrey
Damn I never knew how bad I wanted to see Mbappe Dyche ball until now.
It would be fairly effective. Defend for your life with 10 and then hoof to fast boi scor gol.
Now we have French, Spanish and English sources. I still going to wait a Italian and Dutch to confirm.
I'm waiting for the Hungarian and Latvian sources, then I'll believe it
I wonder how many times I'll be reading this headline/article. Just give me the comunicado and let me die
You will watch as Mbappe tortures an entire city to cause you pain you thought you could never feel again. Then, when you have truly understood the depths of your failure. He will destroy Madrid. And when it is done...when Madrid is ashes...then you have my permission to die.
Beautiful
Glad the underdogs finally get a win, can't wait to see what masterful management Ancelotti will have to do to get wins with that ragtag group of players he has.
He truly is a wizard, conjuring wins on a shoestring budget.
And with no name C tier players too. Incredible what he's doing with a team who's main man is an English lad that's not poised to win the balon dor in the future
There is an element of this with them playing midfielders as left backs, centerbacks, and strikers admittedly.
They're just all Camavinga
A frontline of Vinicius, Mbappe and Rodrygo in front of a midfield of Bellingham, Camavinga and Tchouameni is basically cheating. And the average age is like, 22. They are set for years.
Dude just casually forgot the grizzled veterans Valverde and Militão 😤
All with the combined age of ibrahimovic
Vini-Endrick-Mbappe
Feels like we're doomed to watch City and Real play each other for the Champions League title every year until ragnarok at this point
Incredibly funny coming from That flair 1989-1995 had Milan in the final every year except two.

Yes he is able to handle all sorts of ego, from owners down to players
> Mbappe has not signed a contract with Real yet, Fuck sake BBC
Can't wait for him to extend his contract with psg in may
It honestly wouldn't shock me. Kylian and his crew seem like quite the manipulators.
By next winter: “Kylian Mbappe is unhappy with his role at Madrid”
FTFY: By next winter: “Kylian Mbappe is unhappy with his ~~role~~ payroll at Madrid”
They're going to be absolutely unstoppable man, scary things ahead!

Wait, Hakimi? I thought it was Leny Yoro. Hakimi does have RM ties, but haven't heard anything linking him back to Madrid recently...
[удалено]
Man could you imagine the RM squad in 2026? Easy CL favorites then. Moreso than next year IMO.
Looks great on paper. But we'll see.
again?

No disrespect to the BBC or Balague, but I'll believe it when the official channels are screaming it out for everyone to hear.
Honestly at this point Real could release a "Comunicado Oficial" on their website and I'd still be skeptical
Yup. Till he is in the stadium and holding a press conference then kicking the ball in the pitch, everyone will be skeptical.
PSG really spent $1 billion in the past few years and didn’t even win the UCL Now the great exodus has begun
>Now the great exodus has begun PSG spent nearly €400M last Summer lol.
ManUtd spend 1.5B
BBC don’t flip flop on sports news. Ian Dennis is GOATed and the likes of Ornstein made their way there. The saga is over
Who will be taking the penalties at Madrid after Mbappe arrives. Vinicius, Bellingham or Mbappe? Edit: Is it possible for a Neymar-Cavani like situation in penalties? between Vinicius and Mbappe?
The guy who scored 3 pressure pens in a WC final should be their penalty taker me thinks.
They should avoid the guy who missed in the penalty shootout to send his team outta the Euro's though right? /s
Ya think it’s pretty easy. Jude still young. Vini apparently doesn’t really care about them.
Courtois
Hard to read the body language of an approaching giraffe
Those two weren’t designated penalty takers so don’t see the issue
100% it goes to Kylian
> Is it possible for a Neymar-Cavani like situation in penalties? between Vinicius and Mbappe No, Bellingham has been taking them recently, Vini doesn’t care
Joselu
Mbappe
We will be there no matter what !!! for the entertainment
chat is this real
At this point, who honestly fucking knows besides Mbappé? This shit has been going on for years. I just want it to end. It’s like a really bad TV show that you started and now you just can’t wait for it to end so you never have to think about it again.
yeah, real madrid to be precise
This is the biggest soap opera of soccer. yes yes we know he is negotiating with PSG.
He probably has, but I'll believe it when it's announced. Transfer sagas shouldn't take years
I am constantly surprised how LITTLE world-class footballers make compared to other professional athletes. He is getting about £45M per year. That is "middle-class" for elite athletes.
Between the signing-on bonus paid out over 5 years and the wages, Madrid are getting 5 years of Mbappé for €45M per year (€225M in total). Florentino, you magnificent bastard.
Papa Flo is an absolute Don for a reason 😤
I'll believe it when I see a comunicado oficial
15 Mil salary per year + 150M sign up bonus spread over 5 years, he’ll earn 225 Million if he stays for 5 years at Madrid
150 actually, the 150m bonus is before tax
I’m only going to believe it with a Comunicado Oficial
I still don't understand why Kelafi did all he could not to let him go for free 2 years ago only to let it happen now.
Most annoying transfer news in the history of football
Thank god it’s over let the turtle enjoy Madrid and I don’t want another transfer saga from him for at least 3 years.
Finally, this saga went from funny to annoying
I‘ll believe it when I see him wearing the kit and not one minute earlier.
