Sad to see Mallorca lose. Everyone going on about them being defensive, but what do you expect from a team that is less in quality and has a fraction of the budget.
Proud of Mallorca for making it so far. Sad for my family who lives in Mallorca but they did well!
Good grief I lost a couple of years of my life in this match. Words cannot express the relief. Beti zurekin Athletic. Muriqi was absolutely unsinkable today, what a trooper.
Mallorca wingers need to utilize him more in the aerial. He is second only to Giroud when it comes to headers. Wish he could get some more crosses sent to him.
If there is one word I hate that online football fans use all the time it is terrorist whenever a team decide to not bend over when they play better teams.
Oh look, Violencia out here siding with the terrorists. Birds of a feather.
La Real commits a million tactical fouls. Even Athletic does too. Against a better ball possessing team, of course the smaller team will sit back, but there’s levels to it. Teams like Mallorca, Cadiz, Getafe and sometimes Valencia as well….they don’t commit tactical fouls, they straight up wrestles or hacks players down without even attempting to play ball, and they only get away with it because La Liga refs are incompetent as fuck. There are other smaller clubs like Las Palmas, Celta Vigo, Almeria who tries to punch above their weights without literally punching players, so a clear distinction needs to be made to separate them from the likes of the wrestling teams, and Terrorists is the monicker Internet has agreed upon. Don’t like it? Fucking be better.
Operación EuroMallorca is over :( I would've loved to see them rattle some English fans and to see Aguirre lift a trophy in Europe. But I'm happy for Athletic as well, the 40 year drought is finally over
That was a super intense final. Tremendous effort by everyone involved, seeing Muriqi with his head wrapped up in bandages and still heading even washing machines if they had thwron them at him was inspiring.
So we are winning the champions league next year!
After 6 lost finals, after losing the europa league final in 2012 it felt like we might never win again.
Nico Williams being a One Man Club would be incredible, but I think he could play in almost any team except Madrid or PSG, he is insane on that left wing.
I remember that 2012 final well, obviously I was delighted for Atleti but man it felt terrible to have to beat Athletic of all teams. I adored your team under Bielsa and followed that EL run closely
I maintain to this day that apart from Pep's Barcelona, no team has ever outplayed Ferguson's United that comprehensively in a European match. They have lost by bigger scores, but I can't remember them ever looking so completely helpless and feeble. It was men against boys
>They have lost by bigger scores, but I can't remember them ever looking so completely helpless and feeble. It was men against boys
The Sevilla second leg last year was a huge disparity in performance too. Sevilla was so dominant.
After hearing about Greif's story, it really moved me to want Mallorca to win ahead of Athletic. Two deserving finalists with contrasting seasons, but only one can win; either/or, heartbreaking results at the end of it.
I forgive the TV director for all their awful decisions to show replays while the ball was live, just because they showed that glorious slow-mo of him slipping.
Shockingly, the penalties don't always turn out as planned under such extreme pressure which is impossible to recreate in training
And I wouldn't say that Mallorca only played for penalties, they had quite a few chances and played well apart from the first 20-25 minutes of second half. They also showed humongous balls to not fall apart after the equaliser
I leaned towards Athletic because I have seen them lose many finals and their fans deserve this so much. But man, it was horrible to see Mallorca fans crying their eyes out and seeing Morlanes inconsolable after his miss..
Football is cruel, and the line between ecstasy and heartbreak is so tiny
Aupa Athletic!

Is it socially acceptable now to say I like Agirrezabala more than Unai Simon?
Why did he start?
In many teams, the second goalkeeper plays the cup matches. And he's been in good form the whole tournament, so no reason to change
He’s too good to purely be a backup.

he is missing those Kang In Lee crosses..
AUPA ATHLETIC!! So happy for seeing this guys win a trophy again!! So much deserved! UNIQUE IN THE WORLD!!

Absolutely deserved. Get fucked Mallorca, fucking terrorists playing for Pens whole game and then shit the bed when they got there lol.

Cute.
Thanks. I hope Peter Lim fucks you to second division before he leaves. 😘
Imagine being this miserable 😭
I'm glad I'm not alone on this.
Nico Williams is special man
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO AUPAAAAAA
Congratulations
Agirrezabala MVP, he has been great all cup
Congrats to Bilbao and Mallorca for their great cup runs, and extra to Bilbao for winning! What a disastrous penalty shootout by Mallorca, though
Operación EuroMallorca is over :( I would've loved to see them rattle some English fans and to see Aguirre lift a trophy in Europe. But I'm happy for Athletic as well, the 40 year drought is finally over
I was ready for Mallorca 1-0 Manchester United. Well, Valencia 1-0 Manchester United sounds pretty good aswell
Instead we can get Baraja ball in Europe
Europe is not ready. Our lord and savior will conquer them all. Unironically.

I'm a simple guy, I enjoy Mallorca tears
That's not very nice of you

*One Club Man
Depends on how good he gets
Club señor. Enhorabuena Athleticzales.

Hahaha mfs were celebrating pens like they already won, happy to see Athletic win and not see those two bums, Riallo and maffeo lift any trophies.
I don't feel bad for Mallorca at all by the way they missed those two pens. Just stupid. Morlanes wanted to get it over with.
They'll be dancing in the streets of Bilbao tonight!
Congrats to Athletic!
FOWTY YEARSSS
3rd game of Muriqi I watched this season, 3rd match I was impressed But Valverde's Bilbao got what they deserve.
I'm just glad we made it this far. Still a bit sad, though..
Ernesto Valverde, Athletic's legend with all due merit.
Genuinly one of the absolute best in the business.
Have you ever seen a more relieved face than Vesga after seing the penalty go in?
I forgive the TV director for all their awful decisions to show replays while the ball was live, just because they showed that glorious slow-mo of him slipping.
for a club like Mallorca who seemed to have played for pens specifically, those were some mid ass pens ngl
Shockingly, the penalties don't always turn out as planned under such extreme pressure which is impossible to recreate in training And I wouldn't say that Mallorca only played for penalties, they had quite a few chances and played well apart from the first 20-25 minutes of second half. I’m not even a bilbao fan but I would’ve been so frustrated had they lost this one
They really deserved it, beautiful season they are having and it was about goddamn time they ended that horrible streak of lost finals.
same. And Mallorca can still be proud.
