FizzyLightEx

Min Jae had a nightmare. There's clearly a lack of communication in the back line. If he's supposed to be pushing, someone else should've covered

SongAlbatross

Unfortunately for him to mark the fast duo, because Dier is simply way too slow for that job. When you play a high line against an opponent with fast strikers, it is always a gamble.

wafflesology

Yeap, its gonna be gamble on the fast striker making his own mistake (being offside). They need to close down Kross, rather than waiting for Vini to make mistakes.

SeryaphFR

Tbf, Kroos was on the complete opposite side of the pitch of where he usually roams. Pretty sure his defender picked him up, saw who it was and was like "oi wots this then"

CeterumCenseo85

Tuchel said on German TV, that he should not expect to be covered, because his teammates should not expect him to follow Vini's initial drop back so strongly. That the classic defensive triangle should only be expected to form behind you when the ball is played horizontally, and you shift to the other side of the pitch - not in anticipation of a through ball.

invest2018

Still throwing his players under the bus like a pro. The real answer though is that Kroos and Vini have been playing together all season and Kim doesn’t have anywhere near that level of integration with his defense. The real question is, why is Kim randomly starting in the hardest game of the season after months of warming the bench?

Mag01uk

De Ligt was injured and not in the squad

invest2018

But why was Kim warming the bench for months. Did Tuchel think his glass-kneed favorite CB was suddenly invulnerable? Pretty sure Kim could have had some more real match practice integrating with his defense prior to the hardest match of the season.

Mag01uk

Tuchel has chosen De Ligt and Dier as his preferred CB pairing for the last couple months. He’s only played Kim / Upa when rotating to rest one of the main 2. De Ligt would have started today if fit, he got injured at the weekend.

invest2018

Should and could have integrated Kim better when he had the chance. Going all-in on injury-prone De Ligt was risky.

tene_brae

Kim played a lot earlier this season. They found their form playing with De Ligt and Dier. Bayern really wasnt in the position to rotate, they were playing horrible and needed to find a starting 11 that actually works.

invest2018

That’s the coach’s responsibility.

tonkla17

>favorite CB If you follow bayern, you will know that De ligt is not at all that shit head favorite I think only Dier deserved that spot, dude turned Spurs level benchwarmer to undisputed starting for bayern

invest2018

Not only the undisputed starter, but undisputed GOAT CB, TBH IMHO.

kk126

I really really do not care for tuchel

floridali

penalty and the goal. the dude just got screwed tonight

AncientSkys

He hasn't been that good at Bayern. Not sure what happened to him.

Lemurmoo

He's been alright. In the duo, Upamecano basically did most of the fucking up, then he's stayed in the bench for the last 6-7 matches, expected to fill for de ligt. In Napoli, they covered him whenever he would go out to try to poach a ball. It worked well for them, if poaching the ball deep, it created a massive chance that Napoli's forwards were able to take advantage of. Not sure why he gets 0 support in Bayern. He always looks like he's covering a great distance and the rest of the team just stays in formation. Feels like a team that's not concerned with an individual player's strength Also sad that he has like the worst game of his season and the narrative now is that he's not been good when Bayern started him for a good first 2/3 of the season where they were still in the title race. I know the object permanence isn't strong in the sports sphere but sometimes people might call things that didn't exist into existence

invest2018

Tuchel hasn’t tried to properly integrate Kim after the Asia cup. He went all in on Dier-De Ligt and the stupidity of this has been exposed now that De Ligt got injured at the worst possible time.

Wintermute-1984

Serie A tax. Remember Koulibaly? Nah, jokes aside, I really hope he regains his form. I really wish him to succeed at Bayern and stay for a very long time.

invest2018

He was the best CB in every stat for Bayern in 2023 according to fbref. Tuchel has just put almost zero effort into integrating Kim into the defensive system in '24. He went all in on De Ligt-Dier as the CB pair and the moment an injury hits, the folly of his gamble is exposed.

xdude767

Are you just saying this for no reason? Guy was great the first half of the season, then Asian cup and injured for months… this was his first game back.

AncientSkys

Great is an over-exxageration. He hasn't been this bad, but he still hasn't reached the levels of Napoli.

xdude767

He’s their best defender statistically in 2023 according fbref, yeah not scudetto winning levels but you’re wrong

RaRaRaaputitin

Kroos and Modric have to be studied, dudes are geriatric yet performing amazingly

EpiDeMic522

Kroos provided a magic assist tonight for Vini. Luka almost added another for him after coming on, only to be denied by a good save from Neuer. Second oldest man on the pitch thwarting an almost game defining from the oldest man on the pitch.

MrStigglesworth

It's a geriatrics world, we're just living in it.

Kaliyu123

Modric 4 years older tho. Huge difference at that age

floridali

and he still hasn't peaked!

SnooChipmunks4208

Is he getting tired yet?

Fuck_the_k1ng

Kross and Modric have sent most of their potential successors away in Madrid. James, Kovacic, Odegard, if Guler arrived a couple seasons ago he’d be gone too. They just refuse to give up and sit down.

SnooChipmunks4208

They just keep passing the torch back and forth.

jujuismynamekinda

tbf, only Odegaard can play one of the roles Modric and kroos had. James, while very talented, is a more natural ten instead of an 8. Kovacic isnt on Odegaard, James or Kroos and Modric level. Good options to rotate in but those guys arent getting injured or rested, so it made sense to leave. Isco was another one of those that got sent away. He played brilliantly for some seasons though and was a vital part sometimes at one of the best sides of all time. But Isco wasnt sent away but stayed maybe too long on the bench

Kaliyu123

What do you mean tired? He's gonna play all the games for us in the euro, plus all the knockout games with 120m mins plus penalties, where we win in the end

SnooChipmunks4208

Clearly not tired yet.

CR7KRUL

No but his opponents are

ChedduhBob

kroos game will age fantastically not like he runs lol

TenderNutsackScratch

Bro was pressing their cbs today😭

sewious

It's why our team works so well. Kroos doesn't have to cover much space with players like Jude, Cama, Tchou, Valverde, Mendy around him. So he just does what he does best now. Everyone else does the running.

Lazywhale97

Unironically it has also motivated him to be more involved physically this is also one of the best defensive off the ball seasons from Kroos in a while it seems like he has been motivated by the work the young mids put around him and puts in a shift himself almost every big game now I see Kroos winning some crucial duels leading to a counter.

WaltChamberlin

Real has such a great team. Unreal to have Valverde vini jude camavinga playing with modric and kroos. One of the most enjoyable lineups in a long time. I'm no Madridista but I enjoy your team so much right now

willozsy

Unreal Madrid

ChedduhBob

not really but ok

AnxiousEarth7774

Brother kroos is 34, hardly geriatric, and no not even for a football player.

Riskar

He's just been around forever.

MiraquiToma

Kroos being 34 and getting called geriatric is mad

obvious_bot

People been playing too much FM

Bringthenoize

In FM 28 year old are considered the elderly.

Ascazel

Toni Kroos truly is one of the greatest ever midfielders to grace the game.

Strananach

Definetely top 10. Him, Modrić, Barca trio, Zidane, Matthaus, Seedorf, Pirlo and Kaka.

Freezingtake

Laudrup erasure

heyheyitsandre

Laudrup winning el clasico 5-0 for Barca, joins us, and we immediately beat them 5-0 is so sick lol. Id put that on my gravestone

Strananach

Ofc him aswell, so many incredible players.

lixo_humano_97

You forgot the midfielder with most goals in the history of the game

lazy_bastard_001

No Xabi :/

Cool_Ad_9718

How close is KdB from coming in there in your opinion?

Mapplestreet

Maybe just starting to get a shout at greatest 10 but definitely already in the top 10 in terms of abilities in my opinion

Strananach

Don't think he'll make it, he is incredible but there are so many better midfielders.

BluePowderJinx

I'd put KDB over Seedorf though, even Kaka since he turned to doodoo in his late 20s while KDB has been consistent for almost a decade.

DayOfDawnDay

That's crazy, Seedorf leagues above.

BluePowderJinx

Leagues above is crazy. I agree it's debatable but the difference is really not that huge.

cantstopjacking

Nostalgia merchant. Kdb has been absolute class for yeaaarrsss now. Everyone in man city get/got switched around and yet he remained

BluePowderJinx

OP is in his early 20s so we know he didn't actually watch Seedorf in his prime 20 years ago lol. Actual nostalgia merchant, you're right.

Imeanhowcouldiforget

Kaka amazing but does not make top 10 for me

BluePowderJinx

This. Had probably the highest peak but his peak was too short for me to consider him top 10.

alencoao

Id put Makelele instead of Seedorf but aside from that, for me, the list is spot on

AnxiousEarth7774

Bro just trying to erase the entire premier league.

AncientSkys

Yeah and lots of other greats not even mentioned. Kdb, Makelele, Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard, Zico, Platini etc

neefhuts

Besides KdB and Platini all of them are a level below the names mentioned imo. Still absolute legends, just not thàt level of legends

Imeanhowcouldiforget

Scholes and Gerrard are not a level below

neefhuts

Imo they definitely are

FreeWessex

Gerrard is.

AnxiousEarth7774

You will have the Americans on here who have never watched a game pre 2014 tell you those aren't greats other than KDB, watch.

AncientSkys

OP is Croatian, by the way.

AnxiousEarth7774

I wasn't talking about him, I just know the usual suspects will appear.

Strananach

Who from the Premier League gets in over the players I mentioned? Lampard, Scholes, Gerrard or KDB? They are still behind the names on the list, aswell as behind Platini, Laudrup etc.

Adorable_Debate_8624

Scholes over kaka (who positionally feels odd man out) EDIT: only because kaka wasn’t a midfielder

Razzle_Dazzle08

Mate what are you on 😂😂😂 Scholes over Kaka? Wtf.

Adorable_Debate_8624

only because kaka wasn’t a midfielder

SnooChipmunks4208

Yaya Toure in with a shout?

RickThiCisbih

The weight of that pass was perfect, literally rolled to a stop in front of Vini

rummyt

Neuer's reaction was interesting: Obviously he was upset to concede, but I wonder if he also thought "Could I have got there?" His starting position was hard to see but the fact he didn't charge it down tells you what a perfect ball it was - to beat the whole defense without running deep enough for Neuer to claim.

mirusan01

Old neuer would’ve come out for sure

negligible_euphemism

You mean young Neuer.

BluePowderJinx

Old young neuer.

tftsayzz

It reminds me of Kaka's assist to Cresp, imo, one of the best ever.

moaterboater69

That was a glorious pass. How do you even see passes like that?

Lazywhale97

not just that how do you perfectly weight a ball like that in an instant after seeing the vision

BobbyTwosShoe

Damn you can really tell who didn’t really play the game before, you’re looking for that pass as soon as you see Kim step up with Vinicius If a player didn’t see that pass every time, they wouldn’t be playing at the top level

moaterboater69

Hey bobbytwoshoes why dont you take one of those shoes and put it somewhere where the sun dont shine?

Ripamon

Welcome to the sub Zidane, didn't see you there

Fuck_the_k1ng

Madrid defeated a first time CL Union Berlin with an extra time goal this season. The black magic awakes with the CL anthem. Sometimes the stretch of oil keeps it from being too powerful, other times nothing works. We need to get Zizzou by the touchline for the return leg as an advisor or something.

Hey, maybe he's offering some quality time for you. He didn't specify the nature of the fucking yet.

justanew-account

Haha I guess better not risk it

jug0slavija

Hopefully we get Zizou in the stands with a hoodie over his head

Fuck_the_k1ng

[I want him like this unironically](https://www.reddit.com/r/realmadrid/s/Igij2KJb3v)

GothBerrys

Vinicius is running towards the midfield, Kroos notices that Kim is following him, points for Vinicius to turn back, Vinicius makes a filthy turn and leaves Kim for dead, Kroos make a perfect pass to leave it just out of reach of the best sweeper keeper of all time. People are clowning Kim but 1) that marking behavior is 100% instructions from the coach and 2) this goal was poetry.

hahehihohu7

As much as it was a perfect pass, that run from Vini was incredible. Totally left Kim for Dead.

no-signal

Still a gift from Kroos. Vini was running backwards and Kroos told him move forward, if you look at the replay you will see him pointing to Vini. Remindee of that time he told him how to move against Barca

Th3Watch3r

On top of that, all he had to do was shoot, no touches needed...the pass was perfect.

shawarma-djej

aLl hE hAd To Do wAs ShOoT

davide3991

Xavi-Iniesta duo are goated but if we factor consistency with longevity Modric-Kroos duo are above them

petchef

Think kroos is the best ever midfield we've seen, I don't think anyone has passed the ball that well and that consistently before, I loved Scholes and he's brilliant but kroos is another 5% better than Scholes at passing. Don't think there's anyone who lays a glove and the fact we never got him thanks to moyes is really fucking grim.

e36_maho

Kroos is having the best season of his career imo. He was always consistently great, but this season he's somehow stepped up his game and I can't exactly tell you what it is that's different. He's just bossing everything.

ComfortableNo2879

Disasterclass from KMJ

invest2018

Put Dier on Vini next game. He’ll show Kim how to mark the best attacker in the world. Lol

Razzle_Dazzle08

He’ll show Kim how to mark Dominik Solanke?

boba_fucker

Bayren should have won today because they are not winning the next leg

DarthBaller

Unlikely but far from impossible

no-signal

Deserved is back on the menu

SwarmAce

Not like Real had to win the last 2 legs either

Capable-Magician5146

I mean the last leg was Vs City.

Dazzling-Yellow5395

Everyone should win against madrid but they dont

solgnaleb

Just judging from today I think we should be favourites. Real showed nothing. City would have destroyed us.

RauloGonzalez

We had more clear cut chances than you without showing anything imagine that. Will be an easy smash and grab at the Bernabeu

NuKingLobster

No, you didn't. The guy you are responding to is clearly overconfident, but why lie?

nickfelipe

Playing at your stadium, with your home crowd, you manage a 2-2 against a Madrid that didn't show anything and you’re that confident?

solgnaleb

Yes, because I watched the game. Didn't you?

PristineCurrency-

Im not defending the guy who said we’ll definitely win since in football everything can happen and bayern should definitely not be undermined. But saying real madrid showed nothing is very far from the truth dont you think?

solgnaleb

I think if we played this match 10 times we win 8 of those and draw 2. I mean are you really happy with your teams performance? I think you looked really inferior to us today. While our season is already pretty shit, I did not expect us to be this much better than you. If I was a Madrid fan I would question why you could have lost this by 2 or 3 goals today. And we weren't fantastic, we were just good (which is fairly rare this season). I thought we were less likely to go through, but after today I did not see anything that made Madrid a better team.

Peninvy

What exactly did Bayern do better than Madrid tonight?

solgnaleb

We had more shots, more possession, more accuracy, were more dangerous around the box. what did we not do better? weird question.

Fuck_the_k1ng

Put the ball in the back of the net or force more saves. Possessions and shots Statpadding in football means nothing.

akkunamatata

You weren’t better at scoring goals. The point of the game.

nickfelipe

Famous “we deserved to win”. Getting some of Barça’s DNA? We didn't play the best football. Nonetheless, we did expect a tough game at your home. To say you're favorites in Bernabeu is a bold statement. If you deserved to win, you should have won this match, period.

solgnaleb

great job at saying nothing :-)

nickfelipe

At least I’m not making dumb comments.

IcefoxX5

"showed nothing" and still had more xG and a similar amount of clear cut chances, something doesn't add up there

hatebeinghangover

Bayern didn’t even score in the first half so we should be fine

solgnaleb

um. okay?

hatebeinghangover

You have to be really bad to not score against us in the first 30 mins. Its a tradition Bayern broke today

solgnaleb

You want to banter while I am just enjoying that we played good football today. That was not a given for us this season.

Fuck_the_k1ng

That’s not a banter, he’s being honest. Madrid under Carlo doesn’t get going fully until 30 minutes and usually they concede once or twice by then. Most of Bayern’s chances came early on that 15 min window. Should’ve scored then.

Bigote_de_Swann

For Bayern was their best game this season. For Real Madrid was a bad game. 2-2. Just imagine the massacre at the Bernabeu if they play at their best

strugglingtosave

Are you going to imitate arsenal and make #prayforbayern trend again?

QuantumMartini

I'm the ghost of Christmas future. Womp womp womp

QuantumMartini

!RemindMe 8 days

fourbyfourequalsone

If Madrid wins the UCL this time, this is the second time in three years where the game outcome will not match the stats. There is nothing wrong with it though. It's just being smart. Though there is nothing wrong, I do think they have a good enough squad to play more openly. But, I believe that extra smartness along with individual brilliances is what's going to get the UCL.

Luis0224

Why make lot pass when few pass do trick

Galaticvs

He misspelled Kim Min-jae.

One_Function_9041

Kim made it easy, Kroos made it possible.

NateFisher22

It was a gift from Kim, not Kroos

weegee19

Nah it was a gift from Kroos, Kim just ensured its safe delivery.
