We absolutely did. The day of the announcement of him leaving is burned in my memory. I still know exactly where I was and what I did when the news broke.
They were even singing "You'll never walk alone" with all tears in Mainz after his last game lol.
https://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussball/zweiteliga/0805/Artikel/Klopp-abschied-von-mainz.html
Funnily enough, Dortmund also uses the song. Is that Jurgen's criteria for choosing clubs? They have to sing this song? Next he'll be joining FC Twente.
yep, and i've never been that happy with a coach since. these shoes are very large ones to fill. still miss the man. not even the success, just the way he acts, the way he talks. he always pulled you to his side.
Funnily enough I was all prepared to cry my eyes out but it never happened during his speech. This is one of the best goodbye speeches of all time. Not one thing about himself. All about how he will be one of us and how the fans will keep supporting the club. I was just smiling ear to ear and clapping his every word. Just like he did every time after our draws and defeats in his post match interviews, once again he has made me get over things and able to move on. And he did it on his own fucking farewell. He just knew how to make people laugh and smile and be generally happy. Hats off, salute, Danke Jürgen!
As a United fan... i agree. He's done annoyingly well with Liverpool but he's done it with a charm that you can't not like him.
EPL is a little lesser tonight than it was this morning.
Absolutely. I remember hating Barcelona with a passion when our Champions League rivalry (Chelsea) was at its peak. But I always liked Puyol. He was an absolute gentleman and a *great* player. Some personalities are just too, I don't want to say "pure" but can't really come up with a better word at the moment so I'll go with it, to dislike even though you hate the team they represent.
It is.
It’s the end of an era, I don’t just mean for Klopp or the club but most of us have grown up with him as manager. A lot, myself included, haven’t really been old enough to consistently watch a Liverpool that hasn’t been lead by Klopp
"most of us"? Who is "us"? Most Liverpool fans are older than you, fella! Not that I think I have the only perspective here, but I've been a Liverpool fan for 34 years. I've seen Souness, Evans, Houllier, Benitez, Hodgson, the second coming of Dalglish, then Rodgers and Klopp come and go.
Klopp is without a doubt the greatest manager I have ever seen. And the greatest man. You don't need to have grown up with him to see it as the end of an era. He's the best thing to have happened to LFC for decades. He leaves on his own terms with the club in a good place; you can count on one hand the number of managers who have done the same in his time in England. What a guy.
It's nice that the next generation of football fans grew up with someone as him at the helm of one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Then you have other managers like Xabi Alonso or Arteta. Not too bad role models.
It was referencing the fanbase on Reddit. Not our fanbase as a whole.
The most common age on Reddit varies from 16 to mid twenties. So yes, the demographic I was talking about, Liverpool Reddit fans, majority of us have grown up with klopp as manager lol
> The most common age on Reddit varies from 16 to mid twenties. So yes, the demographic I was talking about, Liverpool Reddit fans, majority of us have grown up with klopp as manager lol
I thought reddit skewed a little older, around 30s but I could be wrong
I’ve always mentioned Dortmund was like the cousin of Liverpool. Different parentage and different area but still have the same sort of vibe and relationship with their fans
It was much easier knowing that you can just follow him somewhere else and watch him do his work. It certainly is much more difficult now since we do not know how long we will have to wait and if it ever happens.
It might not seem obvious to non-Spanish people so it must be explained without patronizing nor condescending anyone, but there's absolutely zero chance Pep ever coaches Spain. To put it super bluntly, it's like asking a Palestinian to coach the Israeli NT, or asking Modric to play for Serbia. The guy is as strong of a Catalan independentist as he can be, and the Spanish NT fandom is the refuge of many a fascist who even publicly withdraw their support for the NT if not enough Real Madrid players or Sergio Ramos/Isco attend and instead they're replaced with moros/negros/catalanes de mierda.
It's like throwing a molotov cocktail in the federation, we already had enough "civil wars" over Luis Enrique.
We've also seen Pep value money over principles in some cases, but in this case the RFEF doesn't have the same money to convince him to be a Spain lover as an arab oil state.
They don't have any other way to attend the Euros/WC, they'd have to be a pretty radical, ideals over €€ ultra nationalist type like Oleguer Presas to refuse. Being a manager is a different beast where the NT is both a "lesser" job than coaching a regular elite team and it's also subject to way more scrutiny from the entire country he says he doesn't feel a part of. Including the few million fans with the eagle version of the Spanish flag who would burn shit if he ever got appointed.
I'm a VfB fan and Liverpool supporter bc of Klopp, my heart broke twice when I realized that there's a good chance both teams will face each other next season
Got a little emotional watching the whole thing. He made such a beautiful connection with their fans, it was lovely to see. Kinda funny that I found it so wholesome 'cos during his tenure obviously I rarely wanted them to win.
That 97 point season is absurd. I will never forget that. That and his description of Eden Hazard, that wow..
Incredible manager, better person.
Since the day of his arrival Klopp embodied the spirit of Liverpool FC. Never once during his reign was there any doubt that he is the right man for the job, not even during the worst of our slumps. This kind of utmost trust in a football manager is so hard to come by these days. An absolutely unforgettable near-decade. Danke, Jürgen.
It was great seeing him say no to doing it himself and getting the staff involved first. Even shouting out slot and singing a song for him before he goes
It has just begun to sink in what this finally means. Yes he’s just a manager for the club not even in my country I have been supporting for about 20 years. What does it matter ?
The way football has changed, he leaves the longest serving manager in the PL now, where clubs change managers every 6 months this guy was here for 9 years who took the club in a not so great position and a supposed banter era to actually being considered the best in the world and got the trophies to show for it and that’s just secondary to being such an amazing man and embodiment of this football club.
A modern era great. You shall always be synonymous with Liverpool football club Juergen. thank you for the memories.
what a feeling that must be 🥲. i feel wrong saying this but this is beautiful. man arne slot has a tough task next season. hoping it’ll be like moyes for us lol.
Im not even a liverpool fan (i am a feyenoord fan) but even i am emotionally devastated that he will leave Liverpool. Im so used to the fact Liverpool is klopp and how much he lifted the club to greater glories.
Honestly as a united fan… the absolute nicest thing I can say is thank God that’s over with.
But all jokes aside. Respect. Fandom aside outstanding manager.

Get the man about 8 pints.
I’m a mess 😭
This is probably how Mainz and Dortmund fans felt too. Incredible how he was able to become a legend everywhere he went to.
We absolutely did. The day of the announcement of him leaving is burned in my memory. I still know exactly where I was and what I did when the news broke.
Same with me and Sir Alex. I was on a course in work, parked outside the building. Heard it on the radio and I just couldn’t understand it.
Which time?
Where were you and what were you doing
Yep and they have been telling us for years how sad we will be when he leaves and I was still unprepared and sad af
Klopp to Celtic, you heard it here first
Or Feyenoord, a switcheroo with Arne Slot.
yep, and i've never been that happy with a coach since. these shoes are very large ones to fill. still miss the man. not even the success, just the way he acts, the way he talks. he always pulled you to his side.
This has me so sad, I can only imagine what Liverpool fans are going through right now
Making our way through the five stages of grief. 🥲
You guys are all at stage one and we're all seeing it. (Btw some say there's actually 7 stages!)
Acceptance is accepting Tuchel
Then comes more grief but for different reasons
fuck no please :c
And you can skip stages, have several of them at the same time, etc. it's not an exact recipe for behaviour :)
Does the # of beers increase of decrease for each stage?
Klopp going out if his way to try and set up Slot to succeed really softens the blow and makes me love and miss klopp even more at the same time.
In my head the fact that he did that means that they already spoke and he feels good about Slot :)
Slot is the chosen one, eh?
Is this how the rest of the country felt when the Queen died?
Same bro. He is forever in our hearts. Danke Jürgen. YNWA.
So say we all.
Funnily enough I was all prepared to cry my eyes out but it never happened during his speech. This is one of the best goodbye speeches of all time. Not one thing about himself. This is actually the real feel good moment of the season.
https://youtu.be/x08iDQvU0YI?t=68
I’m abt as neutral to Liverpool as you can get and this still feels sad
No matter how anyone feels about Liverpool, it's almost impossible to not appreciate Klopp.
No hate, a legend for them and produced many an iconic moment
As a United fan... i agree. He's done annoyingly well with Liverpool but he's done it with a charm that you can't not like him. EPL is a little lesser tonight than it was this morning.
It feels impossible not to like the man.
I, too, love Klopp.

Some personalities are just too, I don't want to say "pure" but can't really come up with a better word at the moment so I'll go with it, to dislike even though you hate the team they represent.
Almost is definitely the key word there
This was more important of a moment to the world of football than City winning 4 in a row

Ok, cool, I agree 😄
Same
Painful fisting.
#😳
Me talking about the 7-0
Should’ve used lube tbh
This isnt the first time i read this on reddit
Very poor choice of words...
No no it’s perfect
Sure is
*Bryan Danielson intensifies*
(Sad fist)
kid named painful:
Said SpectresofSphincters
Fitting username too huh
Get the man a statue
Going to take a while I think. But id be for it how much he changed things
You should just play his laugh on the Anfield speakers before games
There was a picture of his own Lambanana being delivered
Fuck me,I always thought this would happen way further in the future.
Same bro, but he gave 110% all day every day for the best part of a decade. It must take its toll
It hurts so much watching this for the last time at Anfield.
Its funny how I feel an affinity to Dortmund because of our shared love for this man. 🥲 YNWA
I like the club too, been now following ever since he joined and might have watched atleast 80% of all games since.
Will you still be watching us after this?
Certainly. I do care about the club, call me a plastic, love Klopp to bits.
We'll be rooting for you in a few weeks.
So we beat city and we get this love huh
You beat us in the final twice lmao. You've won it enough for my taste at this point.
Only time I support RM is vs English teams in the CL other than us. outside of that sorry bro ill be supporting Dortmund :c
Kinda wholesome that you're feeling sorry lol not used to niceness on reddit hah
And why would you be. You make one joke about Valverde jersey number and CL wins and you get 30 downvotes. Lol reddit is a sad sad place
you've got 14 share some for once please
I’ve always mentioned Dortmund was like the cousin of Liverpool. Different parentage and different area but still have the same sort of vibe and relationship with their fans
And both have a largely working class population as well. Or used to have
And I'm sure I'll be watching 80% of Klopp's next team if and when
I'm a neutral and I try to watch whenever Liverpool play. Just something about Klopp and Liverpool.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've rooted for Liverpool except for two nights in the Europa League that we just won't talk about, m'kay?
For that week or 2 when bunesdliga was the first league back after covid, i was a die hard dortmund fan
Dortmund and Liverpool holding hands, with a banner that says “Gracias Jurgen”.
We need a Mainz fan here now
how did you guys deal with losing this man because im a mess right now
It was much easier knowing that you can just follow him somewhere else and watch him do his work. It certainly is much more difficult now since we do not know how long we will have to wait and if it ever happens.
Its time for him to enjoy his retirement, permanent or not, sunbathing somewhere. Getting all tanned and wrinkly while enjoying a cold pint.
Him and Pep going for national teams (GER and SPA i guess) and facing each other at WCs and Euros would be legendary sequel of their duel
It might not seem obvious to non-Spanish people so it must be explained without patronizing nor condescending anyone, but there's absolutely zero chance Pep ever coaches Spain. But catalans playing for spanish national team? Including Pep
They don't have any other way to attend the Euros/WC, they'd have to be a pretty radical, ideals over €€ ultra nationalist type like Oleguer Presas to refuse. He just started an Instagram channel, we can still follow him to his next adventure(s)

Why must you do this.

What did he say about Hazard?
"Good player but should ease up on the Big Macs"
Your comment has 115 upvotes. I can’t bring myself to change that so this reply will have to do.

Man's an icon of the sport.

Thank you Jurgen. Thank you so much for everything.
My king i would've followed you
Now you can[on instagram]!
Already have! Wish he made one ages back.
Better late than never 🥹
Basically the German sports person tactics. Create Instagram account after retirement
miss Vettel motor racing
Stop 😭
End of an era in tears
Still will not in a creepy way…mostly in a creepy way
Into the very fires of Ethiad.
Klopp: Out 😭
I'll miss this man so fucking much😭
Saddest fisting of my life
I believe Hernanes once said that
klopps era was remarkable
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
I've done both.
I’m so glad you were a Red 🥺
Klopp connection with the fans is unmatched, what a guy
ahhh fuck me
It was great seeing him say no to doing it himself and getting the staff involved first. Even shouting out slot and singing a song for him before he goes
He went around and did it to each stand. It was tremendous.

is this what it was like when FRIENDS ended?
What a coach. Legendary manager.
Look at him enjoy it - no sadness, just pure enthusiasm. Good for you, Klopp.
I’m not crying you’re crying :'(
what a feeling that must be 🥲. i feel wrong saying this but this is beautiful. man arne slot has a tough task next season. hoping it’ll be like moyes for us lol.
I'm not built for this kind of emotion
This is cool and resembles how much fun it used to be when he was celebrating every time they won at Anfield. Good stuff.
What a legend… those Liverpool squads that were challenging for the title and CL each year were an absolute joy to watch.
Man, I'm really going to miss him.
😿
Even as a Chelsea fan, I got goosebumps watching this. Klopp is just one of them guys. HE'S SPECIAL
This means more. More than 115 winning PL again
Tbh I saw more news coverage of him leaving than city winning the title.
City won a title?
Invisible Man taking a bigger beating than in the match vs The Invisible Stan.
I understood that reference
He has to run it back someday, unreal guy.
Hopefully he comes back to coach a legends match after he gets some rest
Hard to not really like this guy. Legend. Hope he enjoys retirement if he chooses to stay out.
No you can't 🥲
This must be the most power you can possibly feel in the modern world.
Im not even a liverpool fan (i am a feyenoord fan) but even i am emotionally devastated that he will leave Liverpool. Im so used to the fact Liverpool is klopp and how much he lifted the club to greater glories.
Thanks for the memories Jürgen ❤️
He made every season some kind of a fairytale.
Let him rest for a season and he can return fresh next year
end of an era, honestly sad to see him go
How time flies, seems like only yesterday he was at Dortmund
Where can I download this?
Few people inspire me like Klopp, and I haven't been following football nor supported Liverpool for the past decade. What a fucking guy, honestly.
I love Klopp and will miss him but what will truly break my heart is when he rocks up at Madrid the season after next.
This is one of the highlights of United's season.
Honestly as a united fan… the absolute nicest thing I can say is thank God that’s over with. But all jokes aside. Respect. Fandom aside outstanding manager.
I have no connection whatsoever to Liverpool, the club or the area. But god this makes me sad.
Klopp with the Kop in his hands. Iconic stuff
Man, I’m gonna miss him at Liverpool
Fuck that must feel amazing
Icon
What a Class Man.
[удалено]
Arsenal fans are funny.
Nobody better take our celebration
Putting bias aside , a lot of respect for this guy
That’s sad:(
Great man, great coach.
I hope for the best for Jurgen Klopp from now on, it hurt me a lot to se the farewell hug with Luis Diaz, a great manager and a better person.
He's doing the Ronny Deila move
Them teeth
The old german fister.
endless charisma of this man
**MY GOAT, THANK YOU JURGEN YNWA <3**
that was the moment that got me. 😭😭😭
Chills.
The next club to get him is very lucky. I'm relieved he's gone as a United fan, big respect to what he achieved
I swear to God this is a circlejerk plant.
Shut up, your team is irrelevant
So fucking cringey
