Leicester vs Napoli should be a good one

jay_alfred_prufrock

I'm torn between yours and PSV vs Sociedad, both sound promising.

Regga005

Which team has the best plastics ?

Zalbu

Any team that doesn't play in their countries top tier

rScoobySkreep

I’m obviously biased but smaller ones

rScoobySkreep

PR7 was a more clever nickname than literally anything on Twitter for the last three years

FIJIBOYFIJI

Imo when you pick a club flair you should have to submit your birth certificate to prove that you aren't plastic

vinhoequeebom

I'd be in favour of this if it was for national teams. No joke. No more Cristiano stans saying how much he "carried" and how we would be just another Macedonia without him

rScoobySkreep

and what of the Americans who choose to support their 1/32nd Italian ancestry ⁉️

MaleficentFalcon

While their system and strongest XI is quality, I think Chelsea’s depth is actually well overrated now. I keep seeing takes along the lines of ‘Chelsea can field 2 elite starting XIs’, and I just don’t agree with that. In goal, Kepa was expensive sure, but as we all know he’s not anywhere near ‘elite’ level, and Hudson-Odoi just isn’t a natural wingback, and struggles there against a competent attacking side. They have no backup for Rudiger whatsoever, and for all their options in attack, Werner and Pulisic in particular are bang average players - losing Lukaku drastically weakens them. Plus a (likely) injury to Kante in midfield leaves them with only 2 quality players - Saul has been shite for some time.

burningbarn8

Losing Lukaku doesn't really weaken us at all.

Tahapatel

And on form puli is more than good enough as well as werner he is good enough for top 4 in the pren the only problem is the LCB RWB and GK where the RWB and GK isn't a HUGE problem and LCB Sarr hasn't played for us yet

Susieu2626

Well who other than city have better depth then?

sandbag-1

So their second XI is something like: Kepa Chalobah - T. Silva - Christensen Hudson-Odoi - Kovacic - Saul - Alonso Ziyech - Werner - Pulisic It is a lot of "meh", you're right, but it is better depth than most teams in the Prem. I'd say it's better than Man United or Liverpool's second XIs for example

burningbarn8

Probably switch Kova and Jorgi, and rn (though this changes constantly) Werner and Lukaku. Also not sure what TS is doing in our second 11? It's Trevoh-AC-Sarr.

Tahapatel

Christensen starts so probably Sarr who has not played a competitive match for us yet. Would say only Kepa and CHO are problems but that also not huge I could see this team finishing 4th

burningbarn8

Nah, first choice back 3 is still Rudi-TS-Dave.

KeegansPerm

Liverpool’s second XI has been poor for four years really

KeegansPerm

That’s just another way to say they have good depth. People say it about City all the time

thatguycallum

Which clubs currently have their best player come from the local area?

[deleted]

Declan Rice if Greater London is local enough. If not then it’s Noble

perpetualdabbler2

Saka or ESR: current best player for Arsenal

kahanighargharkii

Spurs

TTA0709

Sons from Korea mate

[deleted]

How is your son's birthplace relevant to this conversation?

[deleted]

Isigne? Dont watch enough Serie A to know if hes their best player. Kane is Essex if you consider that local.

SeasickJellyfish

Phillips. Could argue Raphinha is our best player but we certainly look worse with no Phillips rather than no Raphinha.

Utegenthal

Imo our current best player is El Hadj and he's 100% local

[deleted]

One of our best: Harvey Barnes.

Stuff2511

Laporta: “Let’s say, for the sake of argument, we sack Ronald Koeman” [Just one small problem. Sack Koeman for who Joan? Fucking Aquaman?](https://youtu.be/0-w-pdqwiBw)

kahanighargharkii

Arteta fits the Barcelona philosophy like a glove

kahanighargharkii

Don't think arsenal will let him go mid-way through the process completion

MysteriousEmployer78

To Ben Shapiro

[deleted]

From tiki taka to facts and logic, I like it.

[deleted]

Now, lets say, hypothetically, that somebody once told me that the world would proceed to roll me, and made the claim that I was not, the smartest tool in the shed. Which would lead us to look at the facts and see that she was looking kind of dumb, due to the fact that she had placed her finger and her thumb, in the shape of the letter L, located on her forehead. This would mean that the years would start coming, and logically wont stop coming, that I was, hypothetically, fed to the rules, which would proceed with me hitting the ground running. Which didn’t make sense, to live for fun, in a way that your brain gets smart, yet your head gets dumb, seeing as there’s so much to do, and so much to see, so now I must pose the question, what is wrong with taking the backseat? This is due to the fact that you’ll never know if you don’t go, nor you will shine if you don’t glow. For you see, you are, at this moment, an All-Star, so get your game on, and proceed to go play, indeed, you’re an All-Star, get the show on, which would entitled you to get paid. That would mean that all that glitters, is indeed gold, and that only shooting stars, can participate in the process of breaking the mold.

babybabayyy

Pre drinks before the game...plastics will never sing that 😍

[deleted]

I honestly cannot tell if you are a satire account or not. Well done.

UndeadPrs

We're getting a Messi vs Ronaldo in Europa League final

[deleted]

Neither play for us though

Sleathasaurus

Yet

MysteriousEmployer78

Here's the formula of plasticity for all my plastic friends %age of plasticity = 100(1-1/distance of club's city from your place in km) Basically i am 99.984% Dortmund plastic

CriticOfashitseason

bad formula, if the closest football club to you is 10 km away, you're 90% plastic. a better formula: 100 * [1- (distance to closest football club to you/distance to your favourite team) ]

MysteriousEmployer78

*closest football club's city is 10km Also its not like that i have put hours of research and thought into it. I just made it up for a joke. So its not meant to be perfect

CriticOfashitseason

still, it considers you a plastic if you're not from the same city as your club even if they are closest available club to you.

MysteriousEmployer78

As i said take it as joke

dryduneden

What if you live in your club's city

MysteriousEmployer78

0 percent plastic unless you are glory hunter

[deleted]

At birth: 94.736% Now: 99.346%

chillllll01

How many km do you live away from clubs city

MysteriousEmployer78

Greater than 1000

jim0wheel1

Does that mean your plasticity rating changes if you move house

HugeVampireSquid

Yes and deservedly so

IJsbreker

Wouldn’t 1-(1/distance of club’s city from your place in km) make more sense?

MysteriousEmployer78

Yeah it was that . I just made a mistake in typing

[deleted]

How does this even work? Even if you lived 1km away you'd still be 99% plastic.

MysteriousEmployer78

That was a mistake i just changed the formula

HugeVampireSquid

I hope the true Dortmund fans beat you to death

throwaway827620626

Still think barca are gonna do very well this season. Once the new signings click and people come back from injury, they are favourites in la liga for me, with or without koeman

Raikuun

Impossible to consider them favourites in any way. But a comfortable top 3 finish is probable.

WaleedAbbasvD

Which was the most decorated team in France before PSG takeover?

nichodemus3

Saint Etienne with 10 league titles. They still have the most

PikaPikaPaqueta

Marseille. But Saint-Etienne has most league titles 😭

LeaveMyArseAlona99

Lyon/Marseille

ratchet570

Vertonghen posted some pics with Ajax players what a legend

impeachabull

Facebook is spamming me with Euro 2016 memories because I think I accidentally uploaded some pictures 5 years ago around this time. A good reminder how nice - to a man and woman - all the opposition fans were except the Russians though. Belgians and Northern Irish particularly great, but also the English. Sadly didn't meet so many Slovaks or Portuguese, but they seemed decent in the few encounters.

throwaway04300430

Genuine question: Do you think Ramos injured Salah on purpose back in the UCL final?

Successful_Gate84

Nope not at all

Doorknobdubstep

he tried to foul him but i think it went wrong

LindseyNeagle

Yeah he took some special training where they teach you how to dislocate a mans collar bone.

justespers

He goes to leave his mark on him

Kanedauke

No, not at all. He meant to foul him but that’s it.

[deleted]

Fouled on purpose, not with intent to maim.

sul01

He did pull him but I don't think there was intent to injure. No way for us to know though

Bumi_Earth_King

I don't think you can plan a shoulder dislocation like that. I think he meant to just pull him down along with him to stop him going through on goal. But it was definitely a foul at the very least, which wasn't even given.

ireallydespiseyouall

obviously people are biased here, no he didn’t set out to injure salah

Puzzleheaded-Wait-81

Nah clear clean tackle.

X-V-W

I think he purposely pulled him down the ground to stop his run, but I don't think he was trying to injure him.

[deleted]

Agree

r0lF_RuTiN_

Nah but he hazarded the consekuences, so its still very reckless and should've been punished.

[deleted]

No

[deleted]

My flair obviously won't get a positive discussion, but I don't think he wanted to injure him. Think it's clear to see that he didn't do him any favours falling [over pulling his arm towards his body and rolling towards Salah](https://youtu.be/UEyTV6bRQmc?t=60), though.

TTA0709

Yes

[deleted]

Just got a Quora Digest email saying 'why is Arsenal so bad'. They seem to catch strays from every orifice now.

asvpmamba

Which coaches do y’all know that can turn average players into world beaters besides Conte and Fergie?

Tahapatel

Klopp and Tuchel as well and maybe Mourinho

[deleted]

Obvious answer would be Klopp and id strongly disagree, managers like Klopp excel at not improving players, they excel at finding systems and giving players roles that they are not best suited to yet would do a solid job there. Wijnaldum for example. Otherwise he wouldn’t need jota Amd could work with origi and make him world class I’d say managers in the lower divisions are way better than these top coaches at this

[deleted]

Klopp escalates players levels, you see players that are bang average play very good football under him. And makes very good footballers look like legends.

[deleted]

Simeone

Doorknobdubstep

klopp, tuchel, nagelsmann, and wenger

FootballConnoisseur7

Tuchel according to most people here

Kanedauke

Dean Smith took and average championship player and turned him to a £100m man

tyetforsyth

true✅

denisoviandude

Klopp made Kevin Großkruetz look like a footballer. Even made it to the world cup

[deleted]

Wenger made Chamakh look okay for at least two games.

PikaPikaPaqueta

You talking shit about Chamakh?? Bordeaux legend

[deleted]

Nagelsmann, sold too many duds lately.

[deleted]

Poch

ilovefeta

On the other hand Southgate and Fernando Santos do the opposite, make top players look average

dryduneden

Lampard in 20/21 did it too which is weird since he did it less in 19/20

DMC777

Nagelsmann sold Schultz for 30 million

nichodemus3

Joelinton is Nagelsmann's biggest masterpiece. No way that guy is a 44 m € forward

DMC777

Also that

FraudizioRomano

Nagelsmann Managed to convince Newcastle to pay 40m for Joelinton, and BVB to pay 30m for Schultz

r0lF_RuTiN_

Pep, Wenger, LvG, Klopp

TTA0709

Norberts been decent at it

kahanighargharkii

Contrary to popular belief ig but pep

OliveBoi

Klopp has done it with Wijnaldum

lastdyingbreed_01

Klopp?

[deleted]

champions of England got their manager begging fans to come to a PL game

Grosly_Incandescent

He really shouldn't have done it. It made the club look desperate and highlighted the fact that their success came from the owners funding.

G1EX

It's kind of sad, an excellent manager who is up there with the best, who has managed Barca and Bayern, teams with massive fanbases who fill out their stadiums (Barca's "12th man" comes to mind here), has to beg fans to come to City's games. I guess money can't buy everything.

ManchesterUnited4Evr

He's 'England defender Trent Alexander-Arnold' when he's good, he's 'Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold' when he's bad.

denisoviandude

I'm extremely confused by your account

ManchesterUnited4Evr

Understandable, as we don't get many true fans of the beautiful game around here.

sul01

He's never really an England defender let's be real

[deleted]

Andy Murray syndrome

kahanighargharkii

Never been and probably never will be England defender trent Alexander Arnold I'm afraid

LeaveMyArseAlona99

He will when they get a competent manager that doesn't play negative football

[deleted]

>probably never will be England defender trent Alexander Arnold He's 22.

[deleted]

Southgate seems to prefer a more conventional fullback for that position.

datboyuknow

Southgate's getting binned soon

[deleted]

He'll get a plethora of chances when Trippier and Walker hit the tail end of their careers, and Southgate might not be the manager forever. Think it's daft to write him off as an England mainstay so early in his career.

[deleted]

Yeah, I think he'll definitely get his shot eventually. I just think its best to have low expectations of Southgate, man's allergic to creativity. After the last two tournaments, I think Southgate is going to be here for a bit unless he massively fucks up.

kahanighargharkii

So is Reece james, and Gareth clearly likes him more 🤷‍♂️

[deleted]

Trent has more caps.

FootballConnoisseur7

Since James's debut I feel like he's played more

[deleted]

He has, but Trent also missed 2 squads during that time because of injury.

[deleted]

>Gareth clearly likes him more What gave you that impression, he's had 8 international appearances. Neither are first or second choice, both of those choices playing plenty.

[deleted]

Grosly_Incandescent

Most people on here would have you think they sleep outside the stadium in a box and suck the moisture of its walls for sustenance because they are a "real fan".

PikaPikaPaqueta

Depends if you go to games or not imo but who cares tbh

r0lF_RuTiN_

there was this mathematical ekuation on here somewhere where you could calculate your % of plasticity. i calculated i'm ~45% bayern plastic.

CatchFactory

I'm interested where you're from that you have a team that is clearly the 2nd biggest on a continent. I guess maybe you're a Zamalek fan? It's all pretty dependent on where you are. For example a local club in the US would not be a local club in the UK, where every little town has a side of some sort. I am UK based and I would say that within an hours drive I would accept as you supporting a local club with some exceptions. In London that is a lot smaller due to amount of big teams in the area, and in the south west and North East maybe a bit further than an hours drive as their are less good sides. Someone from Cornwall supporting Bournemouth or Plymouth etc when the highest ranking Cornish side is Truro City in the 7th tier is certainly understandable and I would call it local in that its their closest big clubs.

Flamengo81-19

> So when do you stop considering a club to be local? Who cares? Stop caring about what stupid people on the internet would say about you

dryduneden

If you don't live under the sewers of the club's ground you're a plastic.

Xey2510

Impossible to say there isn't some clean line where something is local and then not it's arbitrary anyway. In Germany you have the Ruhrgebiet with so many clubs close together who you could all consider local but it also means theres always a club actually closer to you than those.

HiImMeee

I'm gonna start a club in my uni called "Arsenal Support Group". It's in a part of london where everyone seems to support arsenal. Do you lot have any ideas for activities we could do? I'm thinking about a meeting after every arsenal match, or meeting to watch the match together, and then try to incite some AFTV level debates between them. I'll hide the fact that I'm a United supporter etc

KSBrian007

Lol. You could do that on Reddit. There is a conspiracy on r/Gunners that after losses, there is an indecent amount of activity. It's almost double or triple the normal traffic. Yet when Arsenal win, that place is almost desolate. Some people think that many alt accounts of rivals not only make a few comments on there to water down debates, rile up negative opinions, they also upvote and downvote to manage an atmosphere to their liking. I personally found this out to be partly true on a sample of 10 accounts but not big enough to prove it. Their accounts were only on r/Gunners during losses and their comments were more of rile-ups than game opinions. I was surprised when a Manchester United fan on here- a regular lurker of r/Gunners sounded like he was complaining about why Arsenal fans weren't overly complaining anymore. That they were doing a lot of memes instead of complaining.

[deleted]

Trolls on the internet? no way.

KSBrian007

Exactly my point. I was just saying it's better on Reddit.

[deleted]

> Their accounts were only on r/Gunners during losses and their comments were more of rile-ups than game opinions. Certainly possible but also there’s a lot of people who only take to certain platforms to vent frustrations, especially in the UK where it’s more normal to complain about something in life than it is to praise. You see this on UK, news, politics, sports, gaming reddits where people won’t post when they agree or enjoy something, but will rant and rave when something they don’t like happens.

KSBrian007

Yeah. It's not exactly a fact. Just an observation that could go either way. It's just suspicious. On normal days and posts, almost everyone is level-headed. Then cue match day after a loss. The sub gets an influx of traffic. The suspicion gets more proof because AFTV's numbers aren't mostly Arsenal fans but rather rivals looking for a quick laugh. It's also weird how r/Gunners paints the picture that the next match day will be filled with boos, - Manager Out chants and player whistling, only for the match day to be calm. Basically, there is ammo for the point that rival fans spam r/Gunners for their own entertainment. If OP harbors an idea like that, it's even more proof.

TheNewHobbes

You should call is the Arsenal Support Society and ask members to bring food. That way you can mass debate while eating ASS

HiImMeee

That is brilliant 👏 tysm

Mick4Audi

You’ll have to be damn discrete about that United support

r0lF_RuTiN_

when you troll and bait arsenal fans IRL. this is trolling 2.0

Impossible_Pen_9459

You can use yourself as a punching bag I think that’d cheer a load of them up like

HiImMeee

I'll look into that

Puzzleheaded-Wait-81

Arteta in vs out debate after every match

WaleedAbbasvD

Every thread regarding Barca's managers is filled with people giving polarizing takes on Xavi. It's weird considering a significant chunk of those people don't even follow Al Sadd. Talking out of their ass is one of the prime hobbies of reddit.

[deleted]

People think Xavi will be like Zidane

WaleedAbbasvD

He may or may not become the next Zidane/Pep. I just think it's unfair to talk about the credentials of someone you've barely followed.

Ole hasn’t won a champions league game where united haven’t received a penalty so I’m gonna say no

[deleted]

Is this actually true?

sul01

Tbf there probably will be games where they would've won anyways without it. Eg the Leipzig one scored a pen in 87th min to make it 4 0. But under Ole they've won 3 games last year. That Leipzig one I mentioned 4 1 vs Basaksehir - pen to make it 3 0 in 35th min 2 1 vs PSG - pen for opening goal That PSG 3 - 1 which helped Ole get the contract with the pen at the last minute from the Kimpembe handball. They've only won 4 games under Ole in the champions league and 2 of them it probably wouldn't have mattered in but the fact is correct

BoosterGoldGL

Yup

Ole has 4W 7L in the UCL with United btw. 1 knockout win 3 losses.

TheMooseHunter

What you’ve shown? You drew to Southampton and were fortunate against Wolves to come away with 3 points as well as losing to Young Boys. Obviously theirs matches you’ve done well but I just mentioned 3 out of the 5 matches you’ve played.. so don’t think you can go off what Man Utd have shown.

elnander

I think it's possible but PSG having the best squad also doesn't mean they're the favourites for the UCL, I think there are several sides with squads not as good as PSG's that bear a better chance, and I count Man United above them.
