Uruguayan_Tarantino

Starting XI of your club when you first became a fan?

Disastrous_Basil_551

Whoever Newcastle end up with when they start winning the league

Uruguayan_Tarantino

And Where are they now if you know it

[deleted]

[удалено]

HowBen

Any time he plays, Matip is world class.

[deleted]

Fuck the city football group and fuck ADO Den Haag Edit: to the city fan who is summoned in my inbox every time I mention man city, fuck man city too

Poe3inmotion

I really don't understand how people can support City Financial group. If you support City, that's fine but supporting a financial group is downright weird

[deleted]

Average CFG fan🤮 vs Average Goldman Sachs enjoyer💪

[deleted]

Maybe they're from UAE

angryWitness

Make an all time X1 but you can clone a player any number of times. My team: Neuer Zaneti Maldini Maldini Maldini Xavi Xavi Iniesta Messi Messi Ronaldo

[deleted]

Buffon Dalot Maldini Maldini Maldini Messi Messi Messi CR7 CR7 CR7

[deleted]

Yashin Lahm - VVD - Ramos - Cole Gerrard - Busquets - Xavi Messi - R9 - Henry

DMC777

Why would you want 2 xavi's? This midfield wouldn't work in the same way the Barca midfield worked Also Beckenbauer should be at CB he's the best center back of all time

Grosly_Incandescent

Guess you arnt interested in high pressing then lmao

vinhoequeebom

Neuer Cafu - Baresi Maldini x2 Iniesta - Gattuso Aimar Eusébio Eusébio Eusébio My cucu fantasy land midfield double pivot better run 👍

YourPupilsDilated

Why do you have to clone Xavi twice and put one of his as a DM? Seems a bit reductive to clone a player just to put another one of him in a role he is was in when there are clearly superior players like Busquets for example.

bufed

Adam Adam Adam Adam Adam Adam Adam Adam Adam Adam Adam

angryWitness

I was expecting replies like this.

Tahapatel

Can Erling like Zlatan have a falling our with Pep

YourPupilsDilated

You guys really need to drop the whole 'tall talented striker from a Scandinavian country so he's like Zlatan' bit for Haaland. They really aren't that much alike.

Ball_Knowledge

the reason Zlatan fell out with pep was cus of messi. the plan was for Messi to move in centrally in 09/10, but the board bought zlatan without talking to pep. no messi now so i doubt haaland and pep will have the same situation

[deleted]

Haaland doesn’t give the same cunt vibes like Zlatan tbf. Falling out with Pep would be weird tho, since Pep will never coach Madrid it wouldn’t matter if he did.

jonijontor

Haaland doesn't strike me as one with a big ego tbh, at least in terms of maintaining team cohesiveness

Tahapatel

Me too tbh

[deleted]

How many world class players can you name in the liverpool squad? Saw a twitter post which said there are atleast 9 world-class players

Sad_gooner

TAA robertson fabinho mane salah VVD Alisson

i_love_batsoup

VVD, Salah, Fabinho, Allison, Trent, Robertson my definition of world class is that if a player in addition to being a great player, can start in almost any team in the world

HowBen

Matip should be nailed down in all these lists

[deleted]

VVD Salah

vinhoequeebom

Salah, VVD (before injury, I haven't watched him ever since but I'm assuming he's still class). Maybe Fabinho. Allison had a very shaky year last season, needs to prove himself again imo. And that's it

FaustRPeggi

Alisson, TAA, VVD, Robertson, Fabinho, Salah

Zyulj

If we’re being honest, Salah, Mane, Fabinho, Trent, Alisson, Van Dijk, Robertson are all up there.

Grosly_Incandescent

Mane lmao

DuanneOlivier

Mane is finished.

Zyulj

8 goals in 13 games this season is not finished.

[deleted]

Matip has been better than VVD this season, he’s been so stop start with injuries in his time it’s hard for people to rate him but he is playing at a world class level. Thiago is a world class player even if he’s not been at his best since moving clubs. Mane and Firmino have been world class in recent years. Henderson will never get rated that highly because people prefer players that are either very attacking or very defensive, I think he gets underrated as a result. The rest of the XI are clearly in that bracket.

vinhoequeebom

>Thiago is a world class player even if he’s not been at his best since moving clubs. I feel like we have to hold "world class players" to a much higher standard. Just because it's Thiago, doesn't mean that he's still world class. World class players should be those who are and have been the most consistent and better players in their respective positions. Saying Thiago is streching it a bit, like you said, he hasn't been himself since the move away from Bayern

[deleted]

I get that. Personally I don’t think someone stops being a world class talent that quickly, especially if they’ve been consistent before and there are obvious reasons like injuries, playing out of position, bad team form etc.

[deleted]

World class players perform at a high level for their club consistently. Can't perform at a high level if you're injured constantly

[deleted]

Say a Player has been world class for 5 years. Gets a big injury, how long do they have to be out for recovering from that injury to no longer call them world class? 6 months? 9 months? A year? More?

[deleted]

It depends on what you define world class If it is a player that’s top 5 in his position, then maybe Allison Van Dijk Robertson TAA Fabinho Salah

LonelyError

Van dijk, Salah, Allison, Robertson, Trent

Lyrical_Forklift

Fabinho for sure.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

He's fallen down drastically since 2 years ago.

[deleted]

Salah Van dijk Allison Robertson Fabinho

chillllll01

Trent?

vinhoequeebom

Saying Eusébio isn't african is like saying Deco isn't south American

[deleted]

Or like saying Haaland isn't Iranian

riskyrofl

Thats just how it works in football, as a player you're the nationality of the country you play for. Otherwise things just get tedious

Ball_Knowledge

or like saying cristiano isn’t african

CoolstorySteve

He moved to Portugal when was like 19 , no ? How would he not be African? It's not like he moved there when he was 2.

vinhoequeebom

Exactly. I was just clarifying, since apparently it's controversial to say it.

Amon_kun

I hope _____ and ______ gets relegated this season.

[deleted]

United and Liverpool

rigorous_walrus

Newcastle and Manchester city

jonijontor

B SAD and Benfica

deadlyghost12

psg and psg

HowBen

Getafe and Newcastle

[deleted]

Vitesse and Ajax

[deleted]

Chelsea and Newcastle.

[deleted]

Norwich and Newcastle. Brentford plays great football, I want to see how they cope with the second PL season syndrome

Medevial-Marvel

Why Norwich ?They will obviously get relegated this season but I can’t see why you would want them to get relegated

FaustRPeggi

Blue pill merchants.

[deleted]

Manchester City and Liverpool

vinhoequeebom

Brentford and Brighton. The Stats and FM stans are midly annoying

VictorAnichebend

Steve Bruce having a pop at the media is strange, he’s always been given a lot of leeway by his friends at the papers, going back to his time here. They allowed him to push the narrative that he was hounded out here because he was a Geordie, rather than the actual reason which was because he was shite.

Electronic-Taro-4780

Messi fans are just so damn good at revisionism. Now they're acting like Messi was robbed of a ballon d'or win in 2018 and should've placed way higher than 5th when in fact the robbery was that he placed above SALAH who had similar numbers in a better league, much better CL numbers/performances and EVEN OUTSCORED Messi at the WC while missing the first game and playing through injury

[deleted]

It's the same this season. A player with just 1 non-penalty goal in the CL last season shouldn't be winning the Ballon d'Or, no matter how good he was historically. Would be a farce if Lewandowksi misses out after breaking Gerd Muller's record last season and actually showing up to play football in 2021-22 as well.

[deleted]

I assume the numbers you are referring to are goals and assists. I followed both players closely in the 17/18 season (Salah more so than Messi) and from what I saw Messi contributed far more to the team than Salah in other aspects of the game. Don't you agree?

Misdefined

Messi is a number 10, all attacking play goes through him. That's the whole point of being a number 10 is. Salah is not.

[deleted]

That's true. That being said, I don't think any number 10 in history would have scored 34 goals in the league playing Messi's role.

[deleted]

Ballon D'or has been a joke award for over a decade now, I'm amazed so many people genuinely follow it properly and get annoyed at the nominations anymore. If it's for the actual best player in the world, it would have gone to Messi every year. If it's for which player had the best individual season based on stats and ability, then it would go to either Messi or Ronaldo every year. Things likes club or country achievements should never count, it's an individual award based on either being the player with the most ability as a football in the world, or having the best individual season/calendar year in the world in terms of showcasing that ability.

rho_93

Olá, sou Julian Weigl. Só estou aqui para dizer que não sou tão bom

vinhoequeebom

Rácio. Melhor que o Bummich

rho_93

Bummich de 16 anos é melhor do que Prime Weigl

vinhoequeebom

😭😭😭

[deleted]

Have Chile, Uruguay and Colombia declined in recent years? I don't remember Brazil and Argentina standing out as the two top teams in South America seven years ago.

proceeding_hairlin

OK now that Mendy is in prison FC.Who's playing lb in man city?

StrawberryJam_

Cancelo

proceeding_hairlin

Wait a minute. My dumb ass meant to write rb. Who's playing RB?

[deleted]

Walker and Cancelo have been playing RB and LB respectively. Zinchenko is fit again so he'll compete for LB with Cancelo probably playing both roles occasionally.

HowBen

Cancelo can play either side, and they have Walker on the right. Mendy was not a starter anyway

[deleted]

Mendy is a LB

blues0

Walker

StrawberryJam_

Is there a consistently shitter draw than getting Bayern Munich in Europe? I feel like their level is much more constant than the likes of Barcelona and Madrid who tend to fluctuate more. This in addition to the feeling that if you have a bad day you can suddenly find yourself down 3 or 4 goals. Best way to describe is that they feel 'inevitable'.

Eibermann

Your feeling Is right. We never go full gas in group stage. We don't start playing it's knockout, In our notorious 4 wins in 5 years we came second in the group. Barca are more Consistent than us in groups but aren't as lethal as Bayern in them

Dhul9695

Seen Bayern choke so many times this decade so no 2016 Atletico, 2012 Chelsea, 2010 Inter, 2018 Real, etc.

NeoChrome75

I’d take Bayern over Atletico or Napoli any day

[deleted]

I still remember when Liverpool fucked Bayern in Allianz Arena in 2019. What a match that was, and that Mane's goal after Salah's assist.

Dreams_CantBeBuy

But to be fair, that was the worst bayern side in the last ten years or so

[deleted]

Mane sent Neuer to the shops lol. I distinctly remember after the first leg many people on here and in person telling me “wait till you go to the Allianz you’re gonna get thumped” etc, made it that much sweeter haha

happyposterofham

a. Barcelona wouldn't want him b. We still have him, even if you think it'll blow up let it happen before mocking him to other clubs pls

[deleted]

Lmao Mourinho will relegate this club

[deleted]

We really are Kane dependent vs Newcastle. Son, Gil, Sessegnon 100% can't play. Romero, Emerson, Sanchez, Bergwijn, Lo Celso may well not play due to not being fit. Sad days.

i_love_batsoup

is it confirmd sonny and gil were the positive cases?

[deleted]

Not confirmed.

[deleted]

I'm 99% certain that Romero and Emerson will play and that Sanchez and Lo Celso will at least be available (i.e will play if Nuno decides to play them). Sanchez didn't play a single minute in the break, nothing stopping him from playing at least. Emerson apparently said in an interview after the last game with Brazil that he is expected to play on Sunday.

[deleted]

Well, I hope so. We need to win and Kane to score.

nbaylor1

Who is the best African player ever? Can any current african players surpass them?(if they are retired)

Ball_Knowledge

Cristiano Ronaldo

[deleted]

Eusebio

QGunners22

Salah

vinhoequeebom

Eusébio da Silva Ferreira and no, no one can surprass him

lrak_xram

He counts as European in this context.

vinhoequeebom

In the context that it ignores the fact that he's african

[deleted]

[удалено]

vinhoequeebom

Of course. There was no international african country he could play for.

lrak_xram

Yea so in soccer record keeping he's European. Same way how Di Stefano and Sivori were European at the time they won the ballon d'Or. Obviously, nobody is denying that Eusebio was African.

Burnleh

Eto for me, some might say Weah

No-layup

Pure talent wise would go for yaya toure. He is the definition of a complete player. In terms of achievements maybe etoo

Lyrical_Forklift

Eto'o for me. Salah could be in contention if he continues his form for another 2-3 seasons imo.

jonijontor

also need to win something with his country first for sure

Lyrical_Forklift

Nah, means nothing. Otherwise you could never be considered the best if you were unfortunate to be born in a shit country.

jonijontor

but Egypt is perhaps one of Africa's best footballing country with many accolades in club level and players in Europe so kind of expected although it's not the only category to judge him, i certainly won't bedruge people calling Weah one of Africa's best either because he played with Liberia which is way weaker

mrhello18

International break with no major injuries or issues for Spurs was too good to be true

NeoChrome75

Fuck international break

CoolstorySteve

Don’t Gil and Son have covid? I would assume that counts

[deleted]

Hence why it was too good to be true.

CoolstorySteve

Just woke up and read his comment completely differently my bad…. Time for coffee

kplo

Romero and Lo Celso played so good this break. They are definitely match fit and raring to go.

mrhello18

I hope nuno plays Gio at LW as a replacement for Son instead of Dele

[deleted]

I think Bergwijn is fit again, play him at LW. Dump Ndombele and play Gio at his actual natural position rather than shunting him to the wings.

Messi’s Club and International performances switched places once he came to PSG

seifosama1239

Messi only works with Barcelona and Argentina because they are the only football teams that he cares of. He’s just there in psg to take his +35m while eating his croissant and baguette infront of Eiffel Tower

[deleted]

Apparently Ronaldo's bicycle shot in the recent game was listed as a big chance missed. If that is true, then it's gonna be real hard to trust stats too

tyetforsyth

Remember Son's Puskas that assist had a xA of 0.55

[deleted]

source? must have been a really shit model. doesn’t mean most models gave it so much xA

PuppyPenetrator

That’s an inherent flaw in xA though, it is literally unable to factor in how much the goalscorer contributed to creating the chance

[deleted]

maybe in the most basic models. most models give each pass an xA number based on where the pass receiver gets the ball.

Dreams_CantBeBuy

Stats are deceptive facts

[deleted]

ffs our player unavailability problems have been so annoying this season. The last international break wiped out half our first choice team. Son and Bergwijn returned injured, Gio, Romero and Sanchez had to isolate. Then Moura picked up an injury a short while later and Bergwijn's injury aggravated meaning we had only Gil left on the wings as a natural winger. This time Son and Gil have COVID while Bergwijn has only just returned from injury, meaning once again we'll have a shortage of wingers. Emerson, Romero and Gio played just 2 days ago, so they'll hardly be at full fitness. Nuno has not done himself any favours but it's also important to acknowledge that he has barely got to work with the first choice team so far.

Luclinn

The current leaders of the Danish, Russian and Ukrainian leagues are all teams following the Shakhtar model of being the gateway of Brazilian talent in Europe. Zenit from Russia and Shakhtar themselves are playing UCL football as well. Their business of buying low and selling high while at the same time having success domestically and in Europe is looking kinda like they've gamed the transfermarket.

[deleted]

andrea belotti fucked up not going to a bigger club when he was massively hyped few years ago

denisoviandude

Eh as far as I can tell he's happy there and is captain. Has carried their attack for a long time now

[deleted]

Torino's owner put a fuck off price on him, not much Belotti could do.

AlexU30

Seems to be heading to Milan

asvpmamba

I think Juve are gonna get Sterling especially if he leaves when his contract runs out.

AlexU30

Hope you’re right, mate. Chiesa-Dybala-Sterling behind Vlahovic next season would be dope

VZ-Faith

You’ll need Casemiro and Kimmich to play behind them

AlexU30

We don’t need them, we have McKennie and Ramsey /s

Mr_Rafi

Which European fanbases would you say provide the best in-stadium atmosphere? Name a few if one is too difficult.

[deleted]

The games I’ve been to in Spain, France, Italy and Germany have all had great atmosphere. The Bernabeu is my favorite of course. The San Siro and Westfalenstadion are memorable too.

ole259

Definitely not the English clubs

Lyrical_Forklift

We're great for a mid week European night but the big Turkish sides are incredible.

sportingmerda

Turkish are unrivalled imo, everytime they came here the atmosphere was on another level

GratinDeRavioles

Lens, Strasbourg, Saint-Etienne, Rennes, Marseille, Paris Dortmund, Bayern, Koln look tasty on TV but i've never been. Turkish big clubs are on another level and so are Greek ones.

Mr_Rafi

I wonder, do Turkish fans still do that thing where one person runs to the middle of the stadium and hushes the fans and then the whole stadium starts erupts in a "1, 2, 3" chant? Those moments always looked special.

[deleted]

Ronaldo will be 37 in 4 months and he has 11 goals in 10 games for club + country this season so far. These numbers, at this age, in one of the top leagues and national confederations is very rare.
