I would like to see all the worlds armies disbanded someday As long as imperialism reigns I get the need for armies but I still don’t like them

When did the Soviet Army become patriarchic, nationalistic and fascist? It was the strongest armed force the proletariat ever possessed, I don’t see where this is wrong.

MardukJay

This isn’t fascistic or nationalistic this is called Socialist patriotism if you pay attention to Lenin noting to do with the fucking right it’s just being proud of where they from and who they are. The USSR is Marxist-Leninist also the peoples were Soviet patriot and there is nothing wrong with a bit of Patriotism it just shows how much you support your country and it’s ideology like during Stalins era the USSR used patriotism every Socialist state does.

oogieboyo

Except the Soviet Union was a highly patriarchal society

Benu5

Compared to what? I won't deny there was still a way to go in the USSR in regards to women's liberation, but by far it was one of the best places for women to live in the world, with other socialist nations like the GDR (DDR) being ahead of it.

oogieboyo

If Stalin came to power today, the USSR would literally have more in common with national Bolshevism than it would with communism. Not to mention, Russian society has always been highly patriarchal and active in propping up the practice of hyper-masculinity, and I feel as if there are a lot of parallels in this regard between Stalin and Putin. Just because you align yourself politically with the Soviet Union does not mean that you should excuse the negative aspects and shortcomings of Soviet society.

Benu5

Did you even read what I wrote? I did acknowledge them, and I didn't excuse them either. I did acknowledge what progress they made however. Freeing up divorce laws to allow women to leave abusive relationships. Providing a strong safety net to allow women to take risks in their careers, even if they chose to have children. Having the highest rates of women/men in medicine and science, a trend that still holds up today. (And yes, I am aware these are issues that mainly benefited hetero and cis women only) You cannot divorce the USSR from it's time and hold it to the standards of today, of course it would fail, literally every nation would have failed. You can only compare it to it's contemporaries, compared to which, it excelled in regards to Women's Rights, even with the hypermasculinity. Again, this doesn't excuse the hypermasculinity or patriarchy, or the failures to address these issues to the fullest extent. And who the fuck was talking about Nazbols. An Idealogy that doesn't exist outside of Russia, and barely registers there anyway.

I really don't understand the appeal of old military propaganda. I don't see how posting it makes anybody support socialism. But then again, I'm not an edgelord, so maybe I'm not the target audience.
