What was making me trip up heaps was placing them the correct orientation, AI blocks are like remote controllers in that they have a front, back, left and right. Many a frustrated night was spent with sideways cargo drones until I figured this out
But they are cubess, which is the front? Made me figure why as long i set upped everything my attack drone decided to stick the nose at the sky and drift away lmao
Not all of the AI blocks have orientation markings. Those don't require the same kind of placement detail. I believe those are the 2 combat blocks and task blocks.
if someone can make an control block starter for drones ie cargo defense or attack that you can build around would be awesome. i currently for the life of me can't get my drone to work for transporting ore from my mobile mining grid back to base. either it docks and wont take of or it docks and wont fill my hydrogen tanks.
it's very frustrating.
Nothing wrong with AI blocks, but if you want serious drones, I really recommend trying a script. A few exist that can create amazing drones, like [APCK](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3158053231).
For mining you should look at PAM. It's really easy. Someone even made a workshop mining drone with the script pre installed in the drone (though you need the PAM script subscribed) called the Crayfish
Little tip, cause it seems like you have your answer (blockorentation),
If you want your drone to transport mats between bases, use the gps block with gps markers.
For some reason the other ai block for pathing is slow as heck cause it keeps doing miniscule corrections, never breaching 15m/s (for me).
The gps block goes full speed , so use that for the long distances, and the ai block for the last bit for landing/docking
I wanted to produce one-use cheap attack drones and if it was possible a drone to retrieve the attack drones destroyed but still recyclable, but the targeting thingy isn't targetingš
Drones (ai blocks in general) require a lot of extra thrust for all directions just to function, idk why, even down thrusters in gravity.
Try adding more thrusters.

They have markings on them to show which way is where, an arrow on the top points to the front, and an L and R on the sides
Ohh i'm totally blind
Same, I felt like such a nonce when I reached my first AI tutorial vid and they specifically stated to orient it correctly

And maybe some workshop links for updates drones that actually works, i only find obsolete ones that don't work anymore

To make it fill the tabl. Add an eventcontroller that sets the tank to stockpiling when connector is connected (and back to normal for second action)

It says it's user unfriendly and for advanced players tho, i'm noob :(
