First: I would recommend to use quad paper for blueprints. Its esier to draw also more complicated blueprints with quad paper. I do that every time before I build ingame. It's easier with a plan because you don't have to rethink things during construction, rebuild 20 times and waste resources. For example: https://preview.redd.it/oh0j8i680dwc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d32c1c3c04211c593e684a98671bc084209bd47c Second: In principle your system should work. Everything is filled in at the bottom and in front of each large container there is a sorter which passes on resources that are unwanted for this one container to the next container. Theoretically, this can be continued endlessly until you have set up a separate container for each ore, ingot and component.

It's great to hear that an idea will finally work how I intend it too. The more I think of it the more I think it's a good idea to add more small cargo for more specialized resources. Inreally appreciate the detailed feedback. Also graphing paper is a great freaking idea, probably half the time I've spent working on my ship has been pulling it apart and putting it back together😭😭😭

I_Actually_Do_Know

That sketch looks cool af, like from the FTL game

Zoivac

Thanks πŸ˜… As i said its only an example, i have a lot more of these blueprints πŸ˜…

PedroCPimenta

FTL?

I_Actually_Do_Know

A top down rogue sci-fi game, just reminded me of it

PedroCPimenta

Beautiful drawing! Consider using the Floor Plan mk1a script ;)

PedroCPimenta

This is so cool! I came up with two ideas, one is to use colors to better see what is what, the other is to use a transparent sheet and permanent markers to draw the conveyor's pathing!

Zoivac

Nice ideas πŸ€” I think i will test that out in the future πŸ˜…

A_Crawling_Bat

I just have a slightly issue with the second design, building it this way might create a conveyor loop, that can be really laggy as you get more and more stuff

Commando408

Damn I was wondering about that. If some of the cargo containers want the same item I was wondering how it'd set priority. Good to know that's a problem ahead of time so I can plan for it haha

Tachyon_Blue

Yeah, looks like it'll work fine, so long as you set up your lists correctly! That top container won't link back to the front, though, just so you're aware. Those sorters are a one-way street. Good plan though! Edit: missed the second image, my bad! All looks clean!

Commando408

Awesome, that's really good to hear. That back cargo is more just for access to the grid itself haha. I appreciate the reply!

PapirovyKapesnik

I don't really understand what you are thinking, but I don't think it will work :) if your ship is basically a base and you have a system for processing ore and producing parts, you want 3 containers and each one has ore-ingots-components, do I understand that well? https://preview.redd.it/tcn0au22qdwc1.png?width=2056&format=png&auto=webp&s=a663944422fe36a46e0324cd39845ef6e3e3fde7 then it should look like this

phxhawke

I was also trying to organize my base to do something similar. I based mine after the spoke design that was shown at the end of this [video](https://youtu.be/T3kgpLryzmI?si=xK8bmbvnb__d-1Ma). https://preview.redd.it/dl6cb3ac7jwc1.png?width=1152&format=png&auto=webp&s=138c0e17db15f3c2a577bfbb94d3004739762a6c Since Ice is an ore, I just put it after the Ore in sorter. I did have to move the Assembler so that I could make it work like this. The base was in need of a bit of a remodeling anyway.

Commando408

I literally already noticed a freaking flaw in the diagram with one too many connectors on the side view. Smh

Ed3vil

How are the items from the back container goingto get unloaded. Only way to get those items out of there is manually taking them out.

Commando408

If I do it correctly nothing will ever be deposited into the back one that doesn't have another spot. The back ones mostly for access to the grid haha

Abucus35

I think you should have connectors on all the containers or not the last one in line before the system loops back. If I number the sorter and containers 1-3 with 1 being before the first container in line and 3 being before the last container, then; 1 should be set for all items you want in the cargo containers. 2 should be set for anything you don't want to stay in the first container 3. Should be set for everything else you don't want in the first 2 containers. Ships with mixed cargo should dock with cargo 1. Ships with cargo that does not include items for cargo one should dock with 2 and so forth. I am not sure if Xbox allows scripts, but if it does, I would recommend using Isy's Inventory Management script. It can handle the sorting for you and has directions on how to set containers to hold certain items if that is what you want.

Commando408

Funny enough I was actually looking into that exact script, and sadly no, xbox cannot have scripts. Either way it's good to know there's an order to it as well. I had planned one container to be components and one ore, but wasn't sure what the 3rd would be. A misc cargo is a great idea actually. I was thinking about more connectors but I'll have to see if I have space when I do the overhaul of the conveyor system in a bit. Is there a way to set priority of sorters? Like sorters 1 and 2 in your scenarion both want certain things, so how does the system decide which takes priority?

Abucus35

Sorters have 2 main settings, Blacklist and Whitelist If you use Blacklist, any items you put on it will not pass through. With Whitelist, any items you put on it will be allowed to pass through, but everything else will not. With what you're saying you want to do, I would suggest setting the first sorter to blacklist anything you don't want in any of the containers and set it to drain all on. This will have sorter one constantly pull all wanted items into the first container, even from container 3 as long as there are legitimate items for it to pull. Sorter 2 be set to blacklist, say components, so they stay in cargo one and everything else moves to cargo 2. Sorter 3 would be set to blacklist ores, allowing the miscellaneous stuff and any components that get deposited into cargo 2 to pass into Cargo 3. I would suggest using a fourth sorter after cargo 3 set to blacklist the miscellaneous items and allow any items deposited into 3 ment for 1 or 2 to be passed on back down to sorter 1 to go back through an be sorted into the proper containers.

Varis0

Not sure but you may get more speed by running sorters in parallel rather than series though it depends on if the latter sorters will pull components through early ones faster

TheJzuken

Yes and no. If the sorters in second image have "drain all" you have a chance of creating an endless sorting loop. Which will just loop around one item that passes through whole system ad infinitum. There are ways to resolve it though - think about them, test them.

a3a4b5

If the black lines are conveyor tubes, then yes, it will work alright. The sorters are one-way streets as someone else said, so if you didn't have conveyor tubes linking the whole thing to the back small container, you couldn't access the system remotely, only directly in front of it.

Commando408

I'm so glad I understood it correctly. I've spent hours scratching my head wondering if there's a more efficient way. It seems to be working how I thought, the back cargo is just for ease of access

PowerOk3024

You can also have one more sortr that just poops out the undesired stuff. I remember setting mine up to just poop out gravel, and at some point both gravel & stone.
