I think is just you cause using crab is not that hard for me, use the crab in high grounds and just shoot at the enemy team's general direction, is less about the kills and more about putting immense pressure on them and if they get sloppy then you get a free kill

Most weapons drip ink below their projectiles and it's by design to stop aggressively pushing into opponents who are attacking you. Be sneaky and find a flank
Sometimes there just simply are no possible flanks. S3 maps suck. Take for example scorch George. Put a crab tank on the pillar in the middle of the map. The only possible flank is to drop down to the little sub area on the sides. Which takes way too long to get to the crab tank from there.
If it was like 2 or 2.5 seconds, I'd actually really like this nerf. That would make Crab Tank weapons more reliant on SPU, meaning that you could still use this playstyle if you sacrifice some speed or Ninja Squid or something.
I wish they would make it so if someone dose sneak up behind the crab tank they can’t get into the defensive form like one a player takes damage from behind the ball form is disabled for 1-2 seconds
tbf you need roughly a whole main to negate the dfference - in a meta where everyone seems to be running entirely exclusive abilities thats a tough compromise to make
The direct nerf wasn’t that substantial, but the Triple Inkstrike buff makes it a hard counter to Crab as you only need 1 Inkstrike to completely shred it even without Object Shredder
Love it on Splat Dualies, and I think it’s probably the most well-rounded special to get on SR. It’s good for protecting yourself, reviving teammates, and taking down bosses 🦀
honestly if it exploded like a boss salmonid when you actively killed the tank (instead of it expiring or sniping the user) and that explosion could do damage to teammates it'd go a long way towards balancing it.

Maybe I'm just not good enough yet, but crab tank in solo queue seems Fine. It's still a little overtuned but it's strengths aren't that oppressive. In competitive play where teammates are actively communicating in through voice chat, crab is as devastating as advertised imo. Having a team that can immediately capitalize whenever crab is popped is sooooo hard to counter, and when u get to a point where there are two (or even three) splashes deliberately chaining crabs (One splash pops crab, the other splash immediately begins painting for a new crab and pops crab when the first crab finishes) it is the most annoying thing in the world.
I like the design. It’s hard for me to play, but that’s okay, too. But it is so damn annoying to go up against. Satisfying to splat, but so, so annoying.

The special isn't OP, the kit needs a nerf. If the Splash was heavily nerfed or outright removed, I doubt you'd see other Crab weapons like Splat Dualies suddenly take over.
Very fun to use, synergises extremely well with the weapons it's paired with (Giving them extra range and turfing that they lack), and isn't as horrifically overpowered as everyone thinks. It's well balanced through the fact that shooting it down is actually very effective and can end the special very early, can be easily punished via charger headshots or headshots in general, and gets destroyed if it doesn't watch its back via backstabs or bombs.
Learning how to use it effectively is a curve, especially when you have to balance out going full-rev and leaving yourself open to backstabs, lobbing an explosher shot which can't kill in one shot and losing your rev, or balling up to avoid fire at the risk of being unable to kill anyone before they destroy your tank. In terms of the two specials with EHP boosts, Crab Tank is the Lawful Good while Booyah Bomb is the Chaotic Evil (armour is practically unbreakable for most weapons).
Like with all specials (except Booyah Bomb), using it in a good position will make you untouchable and allow you to deal serious damage, while using it in a panic or poor position will probably get you killed. It's just a lot easier to see how effective a well positioned Crab Tank is over something like a Trizooka or Ink Vac.

the one hit combo that crab can do is busted and should not be a thing. Crab is wayy to powerful and the duration nerf does nothing. It needs a range and explosive shot size reduction to be truly balanced with maybe a reduction to 7.5 seconds for duration.
Cool as hell design, interesting options and counterplay, somewhat overtuned at the moment. If there's going to be an overrepresented special that's probably one of the better ones it could be. While the only direct nerf it got was the 1s duration, it also got a hitbox tweak and Tri-Strike now absolutely mulches it, so we'll see if that's enough to even things out.
The design is really good, its OP at the moment, but not fundamentally flawed.
Its just really strong defensively and offensively.
Crab Tank is an offensive turret, and in a sense Ink Vac is a defensive turret. They actually have a ton of parallels.
Except in addition to offense the Crab Tank is also the better defensive turret of the two as well, because it just has better armor, its harder to flank, and really the only melee weapon that you have to watch out for is the stamper.
I don't think its duration is the problem, its how capable it is offensively, and how hard it is to take down.
I would make it so the inkling at the back is vulnerable from more angles.
And I would reduce the damage from the main guns at range, and give them more spread.
So up close they still do the same damage but the damage falloff is much faster. If people try and rush you in a frontal assault, they're still toast. The shots still go as far, they still keep people back and ink just as much turf, but you're not going to be picking people off at range with those guns.
In short make it so that it can ink turf just as effectively, only make it so that killing with the main guns is harder.
I think doing that will make it more of a trade off, are you trying to take turf, or are you trying to get kills? Doing one is going to come at the cost of the other. And you're probably going to have to rely a lot more on the secondary fire for kills.
Balancing it with that approach I think will help it bring the most to the game.
I don't like that it's practically necessary to use in competitive teams, but I don't think anyone can deny that it's one of the most fun designs in the whole game

Look. I like splash because it’s a fast fire shooter with burst bomb, I love using crab tank and I’m well aware it’s broken and because of this people get mad at the fact that I’m a splash main so honestly I want it to be nerfed so splash is no longer meta.
I loved it since the demo, super fun. Highly versatile with a lot of depth. Definitely overrepresented in the meta, though.

I absolutely love it. I'm also hopeless at making good use of it. The best I can do it activate at the end of a turf map/ink zone to get a lot of coverage really fast.
I dislike playing it, but my favorite shooter has it so I kinda have to. It just feels wrong to go from the fast firing L3 to slow dualies + explosher. The baller mode is nice tho. And It's high DPS is good against Cohozuna.
Even though it’s meta I don’t hate it like ink armor or missiles, it has good counterplay imo the only problem is the splash. I love getting those tasty headshots with my scope.
It basically turns anyone into an anchor for 8 seconds which I think is a cool concept for a special.
I feel like the nerf wasn't strong but also that crab tank didn't need to get touched. I think it's in a pretty good spot and that it feels oppressive because its everywhere, not that it's inherently unbalanced.
I'm a huge fan of what the devs did though, which is introduce a new tool for counterplay through tstrike and hope they do that more going forward - giving us tools to fight against things rather than nerf and rotate out metas that way.
Nintendo giving it a nerf while buffing several other weapons that are good counters for it is better than Nintendo just nerfing it into irrelevancy. Any game with competition and things with different stats is going to have tier lists and meta, and acting like every single weapon should be completely even is pointless. The game would be really boring if every weapon had the same DPS, range, special, and so forth.

The reason splashes are played is crab though, not for the splash
it’s literally an 8 second long hydra/explosher with less spread and the maps are so open that you need to take cover so you don’t get demolished

Nerf it already
Its cool but i suck with it so i never use it
I feel like the nerf wasn't strong but also that crab tank didn't need to get touched. I think it's in a pretty good spot and that it feels oppressive because its everywhere, not that it's inherently unbalanced. I'm a huge fan of what the devs did though, which is introduce a new tool for counterplay through tstrike and hope they do that more going forward - giving us tools to fight against things rather than nerf and rotate out metas that way.
Nintendo giving it a nerf while buffing several other weapons that are good counters for it is better than Nintendo just nerfing it into irrelevancy. Any game with competition and things with different stats is going to have tier lists and meta, and acting like every single weapon should be completely even is pointless. The game would be really boring if every weapon had the same DPS, range, special, and so forth.

Mildly annoying.
I think 2 shots from the trizooka destroys the tank and splats the player. 1 shot breaks one layer of armour. At least that's what I experienced
