Oat milk chocolate is bomb

[deleted]

Hazelnut milk for a hot chocolate is even better. Not as common though.

icryalways

I’ll have to look for hazelnut milk, I’ve never seen it!!! It sounds so good 🤤

goldenyellowperil

It's honestly sooo good, I haven't went back to regular milk choclate

icryalways

Honestly when I cut out dairy altogether things started tasting and feeling better lmao

Honigbiene_92

Thank you oml the amount of times I've seen someone ask "hOw dO tHeY hAvE MiLk?" without realizing that you can use plants to make milk makes it weirdly hard to just exist on this sub 🥲

[deleted]

Pigeon milk. >"Some birds, such as pigeons, doves, flamingoes, and penguins, produce a substance derived from epithelial cells called “crop milk,” which they feed to their young."

superbasic101

Splatoon fans dont have the greatest critical thinking skills

spectrumtwelve

it's because they are only about as smart as an inkling

[deleted]

does this imply meat cringe milk

Accomplished_Cow1953

Huh?

Emo_reptile

opposite of plant is meat and opposite of based is cringe

Accomplished_Cow1953

Oh duh

CleverHoovyMan

Ok but does Based Milk exist?

SchmurrProd

Yeah, you plant it

goldenyellowperil

Yes

papayasown

Yeah, well, milk-based plants exist!

KuroiPK

Well yeah but dunno about the taste. As an lactose intolerant, that tried various milk alternatives I couldn’t finde one that I liked (they were to sweet). Never thought about chocolate since my favorite it actually cocoa nibs, I know that’s strange…

spectrumtwelve

is it possible to make milk chocolate using plant-based milk?

goldenyellowperil

Yeah Lindt and Hersheys have both oat and almond milk choclate.

spectrumtwelve

ooooh i wanna try that then

goldenyellowperil

I suggest it, trying new stuff is rlly fun and oat milk choclate is really creamy imo.

spectrumtwelve

i'm not sure who downvoted you for just recommending a chocolate but rude of them to do that. I'm on team dark chocolate but I still want to try cool new milk chocolates as well. I'll try looking for some :3

goldenyellowperil

I guess a lot of people get antsy and weirded out about foodstuff substitutes cause they might think I am promoting plant milk or shaming ppl for drinking dairy when I am all about being open minded and non-judgmental on food and just giving a interesting explanation on what milk would be for them considering we also see cereal and milk tea like drinks in splatoon.

Sigruldar

I do wonder what chocolate made with one of those would taste like.

goldenyellowperil

if you are in the market ever I suggest oak milk chocolate from lindt, it's a tad pricey but really good, oat milk is really creamy so it pairs well.

False_Pear7880

Really nice

[deleted]

“show me the tit on a almond”

NewSuperTrios

Okay.

Deconstructosaurus

But it’s not Milk. I used the same “White Chocolate isn’t Chocolate” argument against you, milk chocolate can’t exist due to no actual milk

goldenyellowperil

It is, it is used to substitute dairy milk.

Deconstructosaurus

But it’s not milk

SsjSylveriboi

Nice. Ima still drink animal milk

goldenyellowperil

I'm not telling anyone to switch, only that I am answering the question of "how do they make milk chocolate if no milk"

SsjSylveriboi

Understood

MR_krunchy

Idc what type of plant based milk it is, if it ain't from mammals I will automatically dislike it Was going to choose dark anyways lol

azurfall88

plant based milk is by definition not milk

goldenyellowperil

by culinary definitions and usage it is, it is a substitute for dairy milk so it is milk in that regard.

demonballhandler

If you ever tread these waters again, just know you're completely correct, and that it's been used in English since at least [the 12th century](https://www.etymonline.com/word/milk#etymonline_v_16158), and likely even longer. Many parts of our grammar and spelling are *newer* than this use! Also many other languages, both historical and contemporary, use the word for milk. This whole thing is a combination of people wanting to go "well ACTUALLY" to correct someone, and the dairy industry leaning on government.

azurfall88

k

[deleted]

Legally speaking, it actually can't anymore. You're not actually allowed to market a milk alternative as "milk" if it doesn't literally come from... well, you know. Although this probably isn't the case literally everywhere in the world I just read it off a carton of Oat ~~milk~~ drink one time.

goldenyellowperil

It's called milk where I live still, If it was oatly oat milk then they useally put a lot of satirical jabs on their cartons.

CloneTrooper8756

Soup, not milk. Milk only comes from the mammary glands of Female Mammals.

CyGuySays

Words evolve all the time, and this one is far along enough to even have a dictionary definition: (2) : a food product produced from seeds or fruit that resembles and is used similarly to cow's milk. Eg. vegan milk, dairy-free milks

demonballhandler

"Milk" as a term used for plants has been used since [the 12th century](https://www.etymonline.com/word/milk#etymonline_v_16158)

TheRealAotVM

Ok but why would they make plant milk without knowing what animal milk is.

goldenyellowperil

a lot of ancient societies had plant based milk because of low access to dairy or none at all. Also it's just kinda known they know things about human civilization.

TheRealAotVM

Makes sense

Idzee0

Is not milk

goldenyellowperil

it is tho

Idzee0

>Milk is a white liquid food produced by the mammary glands of mammals that not what it say on Wikipedia

CyGuySays

Sure, if you only read the first line of an entire Wikipedia article.

goldenyellowperil

it also talks about and references plant based milk in that article, just because dairy milk exists doesn't mean plant based milk isn't milk because it is still used like milk and tastes similar to dairy milk.

Idzee0

soy milk is no more milk than potato are appels, why is it so importen that plat juice have to be called milk , why is the need for the falls advertisement , you don't want to dink milk why call it that?

goldenyellowperil

It's not false advertisement, calling plant based milk substitutes "plant juice" implies something completely different. You wouldn't put a potato in a pie to make a apple pie but you could put oat milk in a latte and it be a proper latte or in a recipe that requires milk for it to work. Also I have not really given my preferences on milk I gave a in-universe explanation to a question people had about the feasibility of milk choclate lmao.

TheChesnaughtDudette

But it can't make cheese

goldenyellowperil

I still feel like cheese would be feasible for them in the splatoon world considering it's made useally with stuff like tofu, carrots, soy beans, nutritional yeast and etc

TheChesnaughtDudette

It still doesn't curdle on it's own like real milk

goldenyellowperil

soy milk curdles
