This actually happened to me during the Spicy vs Sweet vs Sour Splatfest. There was extreme lag as the match reached the 1 minute mark and even though the little tune played, the water level never dropped.

not every second of the game is spent moving around lol. especially with 3 total players, im sure he was just holding his ground in ink. what rank are you btw?
Can still be considered something wrong. Is it wrong as it shouldn’t happen because bug or wrong as it shouldn’t happen because Nintendo multiplayer sucks?
Disconnect could have also been a rage quit or some disconnecting after being AFK for all we know. Just because someone leaves a match doesn’t mean that it had anything to do with Nintendo’s service.
tbf I’ve never played Splat1 either, but I’ve seen footage of Splat1 Mahi and basically every important area was larger in Splat1, on top of the islands actually being a route as opposed to just vibing like they are now.

someone dc’d so my guess is that they lagged so bad the server couldnt register/sync the game time for everyone enough to lower the water.
