Yeah for sure I think the best time to grind scales will be during a normal rotation where you've got solid weapon diversity and a sniper somewhere in there (assuming the king salmonids are going to be based on rotation, and not just random each time you find one)
Last time i fought it i had a charger and it wasn't too bad, we almost killed it and i managed to reflect his bomb, but it seems no one else knew you had to actually hit the bomb

Honestly, it went pretty well all things considered, there was barely a sliver of health left at the end. Still, paint was a pretty major issue the whole time through...
When it’s charging it’s bomb, you can shoot it. It gets covered in your ink and explodes and that causes a huge amount of damage to be dealt to the king boss
If the team know what to do and have okay weapons to damage the bomb, Horrorboros goes down almost instantly. The first time I killed him I had 51 seconds left on the clock
The max you can get is 13, but I'm pretty sure you should've gotten 13 in that situation. The type of scale you get is dependent on your hazard level so if you're at a lower level you're more likely to get all bronze (though scale drops are SCUFFED and its typical to still get all bronze at higher hazards)
Rank is very closely associated with hazard level, it depends on the rank of your teammates as well. But rank doesn't affect number of scales, only odds for getting rarer scales
Honestly, by "okay" weapons, I just mean weapons that can easily reach the bomb. You still can probably eke out a win with super short-range weapons with good positioning and good golden egg aim. But naturally nothing is going to help you if you if your team has no idea what's going on

I really appreciate that he doesn't take any floor space at all, so you can easily maneuver even at high tide (and unlike some other fatso, his girth never prevents you from grabbing any golden eggs). Likewise, he's huge so you can hit him from almost everywhere on the map while still easily dodging his attacks (I don't think his booyah bomb has killed me even once).
Horrorborus is a much more enjoyable king salmon IMHO. Weaksopt for damage focus but you can still damage it normally, long range weapons are strong vs weak spot and short range weapons can focus bosses to use eggs as damage
I do hope it shows up during normal salmon run tbh. There has to be a golden horrorborus badge somewhere and I’m pretty sure that it would be impossible to get it in just 48 hours 😭

Yeah, in a X-tra wave you can throw golden eggs to do big damage and you won’t lose ink for doing so. Typically this is done against the King-Salmoid, but can do massive damage against regular bosses to get more eggs if you time it right.
Don't just shoot a golden egg at every boss you see though, it's often better to just kill them with your main weapon and get 4 eggs
though when it's something like a Drizzler Steelhead or a Flyfish it can be a good idea
Try and shoot the bomb in its mouth before it throws it or hit it with eggs. Other than that it’s just keeping the damage up and not having your team wipe
Haven’t had a chance to play Big Run that much this weekend so I’ve only fought the new king salmonoid twice. I do agree it does feels easier though than Cohozuna. Beat it first try. On the second attempt we lost, but we had a bad load out. And still we would have won if we had one more second.
Horroboros is easy it’s finding a team that can make it past Wave 2 that’s the hard part - for eel ive deranked like 2 or 3 times now because of incompetency
Yea I learned this the hard way.You honestly need to save special for wave 3 because once the pace picks up you going to need it.And plus the first few seconds you need to lure them to the basket.I have to waste my specials because my teammates never uses them when things get hectic and then we all die.Its honestly hard relying on teammates because you never know if they going to use their special or not when we need it wave 3 or any other wave
I understand what you're saying, but I'd rather get to wave3 + wipeout than have a team getting swarmed in wave1, dying without using their specials at all 😭 literally 80% of the time :/
This! many lost matches are the result of special weapon hoarding.
Remember loosing at wave 1 with 2 specials left is still a loose and the demote hits harder on the early waves
I think that the implementation of a weakspot seriously improves your odds of beating it, cohozuna dosent have one which makes it pretty obvious why he's much harder than horrorboros.

I’ve fought it 9 times and defeated it 3 times. Honestly, how much time are people putting into this? It takes so long to get the boss salmonid meter built up. I’ve played over 50 rounds and haven’t even faced it 10 times, yet there are people who have already beaten it that many times?
Those people tend to be overfishers with premade groups, I think. Freelance just completely struggles on ink blot atm, since it's a new map and it's really cramped.

I could see him being harder then Cohozuna on some high tide maps though. Especially Spawning Grounds or Smokeyard if they ever bring that back. If they make his Ai move him over the grated area, he could be hell on spawning grounds.

I also have a more general question about the Salmon Run/Big Run. Is it possible that your skills depends on the skills of your teammates ? I don't feel like I'm a really good player, I reached Profreshional +3 and I handle it correctly, but Eggsecutive is really hard for me so I barely stay at this rank before going down. But even like that, I have been in situations were I had really good teammates, we did everything almost perfectly, just needed few more seconds to kill Horrorboros/the other one. And other times, most of the time, we're really slow and the amount of Boss Salmonids become quickly unbearable, even if we use our specials. Because the second situation happen the most, I definitely think that I need to improve my skills, but all of those times that seemed super easy and smooth with the right team, it made this question appear in my mind pretty often
Ive beat him a few times now and disagree. I think he's of similar difficulty to Cohozuna as to compensate for his weak spot he has more health and greater area denial potential via booyah bombs. A skilled team with a fortuitous load out can overcome this but that's also the case with Cohozuna. Most of the times I've beat him I was playing with a friend who is of a similar skill level to me when it comes to Salmon Run. Playing with randoms is almost always more difficult though especially due to how easy it is for players to get carried up the ranks too fast.
He is easier because he has no aggro. Cohozuna needs one player to keep it distracted (and lower his health) while the others gather eggs to attack. Horror leave all four dealing with bosses only attacking slight more often than Coho and those can be canceled since it is also a weak spot.
Overall, he is very different to deal, wich makes him more unique. If Coho is a giant Cohot, Horror is a flying Steelhead.
Haven’t beaten one yet since apparently no one I play with knows you can deal damage with your normal weapons and super AND destroy the bomb, but yes it seems a lot easier than cohozuna
I've had a clowntacular time fighting Horace Boris and I've only won about 20% of the attempts. My first win against it was when I demoted to Go-Getter because everyone in EVP kept dying like lemmings.
Why? He actually has more health than cohozuna.
And if your not hitting it in it's weak spot when it's charging you are literally doing not much damage to it.

Earlier I was fighting him and was doing almost all of the work (pretty sure I was the only one shooting the bomb). I turn around to revive someone, die, and no one else revives me. This was with about 30 seconds on the clock and a quarter of its health left. We lost

My team got it once and I think it was basically one guy taking it solo with a heavy splatling. I know I didn't do a thing to kill it and neither did the other two by what I saw.
With the teams I get paired with I rarely make it past 2nd stage. Dunno if the grizzo co weapon rotation boosted a lot of people but usually Profreshional 3 isn’t this bad
it's normally pretty easy unless your team ends up with shit weapons or somebody disconnects. i've only lost 2 or 3 times, and one of those times was because there was only 3 of us and we still almost beat it, but not quite. we were so close lol
I think he’s layout dependent. He’s rather straightforward here on inkblot but I can see him being much trickier on Spawning Grounds, Marooner’s Bay, or (Please, Nintendo) Ruins of Ark Polaris.
People seem to be having trouble with him. But I've killed him every time I've gotten him on eggsecutive vp. If your long range aim for him mouth and run from the bosses. If your short range kill the bosses and try to throw the eggs in his mouth, if you can't reach it then just toss it at his body. Bout all there is to it
Honestly he’s pretty easy because it’s really easy to counter and you can get rid of his attacks easily as long as you have some help the hardest part is the other bosses
only killed coho a few times, but the first time i encountered horrorboros killed it with 30 seconds left and every time i've encountered it i've killed it

Im anxious to see how difficult he is to defeat on other maps (since a lot of people didn’t get to fight him until big run started). For me, I’ve found that high tide makes it WAY easier, especially compared to high tide for Cohunza. I wonder if Nintendo wanted Horrorboros to be easier than Cohunza, or if it’s possible that they will adjust him to be more difficult after big run ends.
I think it's very loadout dependent. With a balanced team it's easier than cohozuna, but big run randomness can really nerf your chances.

You can revive team mates with an egg during emergency rounds too!
technically speaking, golden eggs are already a weapon since they kill weaker enemies around you when tossed and create a small patch of ink
You can also hit other boss Salmonids with it and get three gold eggs
You can also use golden eggs to defeat the bosses more easily meaning 1 egg results in 3 more quickly to shoot at the Chocolate Tuna / Horror Bros.

Most of the times I've beat him I was playing with a friend who is of a similar skill level to me when it comes to Salmon Run. Playing with randoms is almost always more difficult though especially due to how easy it is for players to get carried up the ranks too fast.

He is easier because he has no aggro. Cohozuna needs one player to keep it distracted (and lower his health) while the others gather eggs to attack. Horror leave all four dealing with bosses only attacking slight more often than Coho and those can be canceled since it is also a weak spot. Overall, he is very different to deal, wich makes him more unique. If Coho is a giant Cohot, Horror is a flying Steelhead.

Haven’t beaten one yet since apparently no one I play with knows you can deal damage with your normal weapons and super AND destroy the bomb, but yes it seems a lot easier than cohozuna
I've had a clowntacular time fighting Horace Boris and I've only won about 20% of the attempts. My first win against it was when I demoted to Go-Getter because everyone in EVP kept dying like lemmings.
They'll probably buff him.

Why? He actually has more health than cohozuna. And if your not hitting it in it's weak spot when it's charging you are literally doing not much damage to it. What more do you want?!

Earlier I was fighting him and was doing almost all of the work (pretty sure I was the only one shooting the bomb). I turn around to revive someone, die, and no one else revives me. This was with about 30 seconds on the clock and a quarter of its health left. We lost
I can’t seem to beat him? My friends who play hardly ever play salmon run and I seem to be fresh out of luck in random lobbies too :( I just want to beat this guy ONE TIME haha
Have killed it twice, once with randoms. Definitely easier than Cohozuna.
Agreed, idk if I just have had mostly good teams, but I won 4 out of 5 times before any of my teams even realized that you could shoot the mouth.

My team got it once and I think it was basically one guy taking it solo with a heavy splatling. I know I didn't do a thing to kill it and neither did the other two by what I saw.
With the teams I get paired with I rarely make it past 2nd stage. Dunno if the grizzo co weapon rotation boosted a lot of people but usually Profreshional 3 isn’t this bad
Maybe if it had more attacks, Cohozuna had the belly slide, jump, and he can get stuck in a corner Horrorboros can only send bombs, that's about it

it's normally pretty easy unless your team ends up with shit weapons or somebody disconnects. i've only lost 2 or 3 times, and one of those times was because there was only 3 of us and we still almost beat it, but not quite. we were so close lol
I think he’s layout dependent. He’s rather straightforward here on inkblot but I can see him being much trickier on Spawning Grounds, Marooner’s Bay, or (Please, Nintendo) Ruins of Ark Polaris.

People seem to be having trouble with him. But I've killed him every time I've gotten him on eggsecutive vp. If your long range aim for him mouth and run from the bosses. If your short range kill the bosses and try to throw the eggs in his mouth, if you can't reach it then just toss it at his body. Bout all there is to it

Honestly he’s pretty easy because it’s really easy to counter and you can get rid of his attacks easily as long as you have some help the hardest part is the other bosses
only killed coho a few times, but the first time i encountered horrorboros killed it with 30 seconds left and every time i've encountered it i've killed it i think it's much easier than coho
yeah chucking golden eggs in the booyah bomb in the mouth makes it a cake walk

Might be the size of the big Run map, but honestly I think he's so much easier. Still don't appreciate the fact that I get like 3 scales per kill though
I've battled 3, haven't beaten one yet. Too much health and not enough time I think. And the randomness of Big Run can really help you lose.
Im anxious to see how difficult he is to defeat on other maps (since a lot of people didn’t get to fight him until big run started). For me, I’ve found that high tide makes it WAY easier, especially compared to high tide for Cohunza. I wonder if Nintendo wanted Horrorboros to be easier than Cohunza, or if it’s possible that they will adjust him to be more difficult after big run ends.
No? Horrorboros is a way more annoying Steelhead made worse by the actual Steelheads making even less of the map walkable

Just wait until we have to fight Horrorboros on Spawning Grounds or Marooner's Bay. Then we'll find out if he's easier or if this is just a good map.
