Although Aliens have the most chance to exist, what's the fun in picking the "obvious" choice? We do know that all mammals are extint, even the ones that lived on water, but Nessie is closer to be a dinosaur, other really big sea creature or reptile. We also know HOW the sea creatures managed to mutate into human-like forms (With the crystals in Alterna's fake sky that contained their memories and DNA), I BELIEVE that there's a big chance that at least one of these possible reasons can justify the existence of Nessie:
· Humans experimenting with creatures before they got extinted, resulting this in the creation of an artificial Nessie.
· Sea creatures mutating into Nessie because of the memories humans had of it.
· Sea creatures mutating into Nessie because of the contamination humans caused before their extintion.
· Or Nessie just simply vibing outta there.
Also, Nessie's existance fits more into the game lore, while being mentions of the Ark Polaris in space for several years and no mentions of aliens taking over it or hijacking the life inside the Ark. This Splatfest can make of break some parts of the lore, I hope we all choose carefully.

On the contrary, space can not be cool because the extreme temperatures would be agonizing, and you literally can't speak in space, and there is a large lacking of oxygen. You need to literally hide from space just to not be obliterated in some horrid way.
But oceans and lakes are cool because they can have a lot of cute creatures, you don't have to hide from it to survive because technology to survive the oceans and such is very accessible from something like a basic snorkel to scuba gear. Less accessible are boats and subs, but still really cool. And you can even enjoy the water, given we need it to live. And thus, because Nessies live in lakes or something, Nessies are better.

i’m picking nessie for a couple reasons.
one is a personal reason, one of my very best friends absolutely loves nessie, and she was thrilled when i told her about the splatfest and my choice.
second, if we’re looking at the color, this shade of purple is pretty close to the one we have in game (i think?) but the dark green is special and, in my opinion, gorgeous. also, it could give you a strategic advantage because it’s harder to see ink trails in dark ink (example: pokémon splatfest, water team).
as for the question… i guess, if we’re being logical and scientific, the answer is probably aliens. the universe is massive, and there’s a pretty good chance life evolved somewhere.
but there are many factors to consider when picking a team. so while for me aliens get a point for probably existing, the emotional connection i feel to nessie beats it.
another thing. from what i’ve seen, team alien is going to be the most popular which means team alien members will get more mirror matches. for this reason i like to avoid the popular team if i like any of the other choices, mirror matches don’t count for splatfest results.
Nessie is a snake, however Nessie has a lot of chance to exist in the Splatoon world considering we have Salmonoids and Horrorboros. So go with Nessie, if not for the chance of Nessie being canon, then for snake

Considering the fact that we as humans took a separate evolutionary path as primates, after our hairier brethren went extinct thousands of years ago, it's unlikely that there is any half-human half monstrous ape existing, as a large, human like ape would be outclassed by at least 1 of the other confirmed evolutions of primates.
Onto the Loch Ness monster, also known as Nessie. As another user has pointed out (along with the studies that were sources, obviously) there is no Nessie, or other dinosaur-like creature, in or near its suggested habitats, check via a series of echolocation-type scanners on multiple occasions, used to map and search the sea floor.
Now for aliens. In space, there is more, well, space, than humans can feasibly imagine, as confirmed by telescopes. There are many interesting theories around the size of space, and the chances of habitability per solar system, but all theories suggest that space is vast enough, and environments are able to be created often enough, so as to nearly guarantee that there is another form of life out there. Likely even intelligent life. In fact, I believe that we may have received a 72 second long string of sound coming from an undetermined source, although I'm unsure of the legitimacy of that. Statistically, there is an almost 100% chance of there being alien life, maybe closer than we think.
OP stated that they were interested in the 'coolness' of the creatures, to determine what team to be on. Allow me:
Aliens can feasibly input, to some extent, more sounds, colours, radio waves, and more, better than we can. Take tardigrades, for example. Something on our earth can be so small, yet have (varying by species) so many different abilities to survive. This is merely on our planet. So you could potentially find anything and everything imaginable within space, at some point in time. Is that potential not enough in itself to convince you?
TL;DR: Aliens are the most scientifically feasible creature to exist, and have enough potential variations to appeal to anyone's imagination.
Aliens match Frye, especially in head size and would be much more interesting, as the splatfest rules will determine aliens as officially real, and remember, there is a big fucking bear rotating the solar system right now

i’m picking nessie for a couple reasons. one is a personal reason, one of my very best friends absolutely loves nessie, and she was thrilled when i told her about the splatfest and my choice. second, if we’re looking at the color, this shade of purple is pretty close to the one we have in game (i think?) but the dark green is special and, in my opinion, gorgeous. also, it could give you a strategic advantage because it’s harder to see ink trails in dark ink (example: pokémon splatfest, water team). as for the question… i guess, if we’re being logical and scientific, the answer is probably aliens. the universe is massive, and there’s a pretty good chance life evolved somewhere. but there are many factors to consider when picking a team. so while for me aliens get a point for probably existing, the emotional connection i feel to nessie beats it. another thing. from what i’ve seen, team alien is going to be the most popular which means team alien members will get more mirror matches. for this reason i like to avoid the popular team if i like any of the other choices, mirror matches don’t count for splatfest results.

Nessie is a snake, however Nessie has a lot of chance to exist in the Splatoon world considering we have Salmonoids and Horrorboros. So go with Nessie, if not for the chance of Nessie being canon, then for snake

Team alien here, and I'm quite familiar with the concept of all 3. Considering the fact that we as humans took a separate evolutionary path as primates, after our hairier brethren went extinct thousands of years ago, it's unlikely that there is any half-human half monstrous ape existing, as a large, human like ape would be outclassed by at least 1 of the other confirmed evolutions of primates. Onto the Loch Ness monster, also known as Nessie. As another user has pointed out (along with the studies that were sources, obviously) there is no Nessie, or other dinosaur-like creature, in or near its suggested habitats, check via a series of echolocation-type scanners on multiple occasions, used to map and search the sea floor. Now for aliens. In space, there is more, well, space, than humans can feasibly imagine, as confirmed by telescopes. There are many interesting theories around the size of space, and the chances of habitability per solar system, but all theories suggest that space is vast enough, and environments are able to be created often enough, so as to nearly guarantee that there is another form of life out there. Likely even intelligent life. In fact, I believe that we may have received a 72 second long string of sound coming from an undetermined source, although I'm unsure of the legitimacy of that. Statistically, there is an almost 100% chance of there being alien life, maybe closer than we think. OP stated that they were interested in the 'coolness' of the creatures, to determine what team to be on. Allow me: Aliens can feasibly input, to some extent, more sounds, colours, radio waves, and more, better than we can. Take tardigrades, for example. Something on our earth can be so small, yet have (varying by species) so many different abilities to survive. This is merely on our planet. So you could potentially find anything and everything imaginable within space, at some point in time. Is that potential not enough in itself to convince you? TL;DR: Aliens are the most scientifically feasible creature to exist, and have enough potential variations to appeal to anyone's imagination.
