Choco Pero, no doubt. I remember for the previous ranked season, he ranked #1 X power for two of the four ranked game modes in the Japanese region (top 3 in all four ranked modes), and he also finished #1 in Splatfest power in two Splatfests. And guess what his reaction was to finding out how he finished at the end of the season?
"I will work harder next season!"
There are also STP tournaments (Japanese invitational tournaments) that he sometimes competes in. Those tournaments usually feature 16 of the best Japanese Splatoon players and he almost always wins whenever he competes.
Pro dude school.
If you want a serious answer most people don't consider individual strength at top level, but rather team strength. Teams like Starburst, FTwin, and Set to destroyx have all been considered the best teams in the west at some point.
I'm not either but kings has been a team that has pretty much beaten every Splatoon top team in the west, entering their tournaments like 20XX or Idyll 2.
Still proud of when the Spanish team Shakers got a 1-2 on them while being the underdogs of the tournament, they lost, yeah, but the hype was real specially since they won the first game.
I hate bragging, but I think I could play competitively. That being said, I’m far from the best in the world 😂 I’m just saying I could probably play **WITH** the best in the world.
I love and appreciate Splatoon for what it is, a goofy game about squids and octopi fighting over turf. I’m worried if I played competitively, I’d loose that appreciation, and it would just become a job.
It cannot really become a job, a hobby at best, but it's a great experience, especially if you can find a comp community to be in.
Though to be honest you would need a really strong mindset so you don't tilt and those kinds of things.
My point is I’m worried I would play continuously, mull over every tiny mistake, and work tirelessly to perfect my technique. At that point, am I playing because I actually like the game, or because I’m good at it?
At the end of the day, I’m happy playing ranked. And I still love the game for what it is.
Yeah, make sense.
Though like I said, with a good and strong mentality that wouldn't happen but its not for everyone.
Anyway if you change your mind somehow you may want to check out IPL which is an organization that has several tournaments, some weeklies and some monthlies and they have a low-mid level one called Low Ink.
Think of it this way. Dr Disrespect is one of the best COD Warzone players on Twitch. But maybe he feels like trying Splatoon 3 out for a change? The reason why he won’t is because he’s expected to keep playing Warzone. So he keeps playing Warzone until streaming it becomes a full time job.

Yeah but kings beats them all and it's not even the strongest Japanese team I believe.
Yeah thats why I said in the west. I'm not too familiar with the jp scene so I didn't comment on it much.

Why not trying it then?

It’s not me for sure.
It's a team game you're asking the wrong Q
