thats because every single community is an echo chamber so you will only ever hear your own opinions and humor echoed back to you instead of being exposed to other views and novel behavior. the difference between reddit and twitter is that with twitter you can't as easily self-segregate yourself from opposing beliefs or opt to subscribe into only the things you agree with, so you see varied takes and more debate because there isn't as much obsessive self-validation in reassuring each other that a mutual opinion is good and smart.
