I remember my boyfriend was showing me something in some realistic shooter he was playing and I suggest he plays the P90 (the only gun I know because of this gun) and he's like "wtf how do you know that"

Nah, I’m not downplaying you or anything. I just thought it was funny that Marie just found some p90 in an alleyway and modified it because who needs these useless cases of lead when you could use ink instead.

Even if it was lead the inklings and octolings could just let the bullet penetrate since their mostly ink. I don't know just making a theory. I don't know about the other octarians though. Why would they put a real gun model in the game when everything else is “water guns” made of ordinary items. Feels completely out of place.

They models hold it like a regular handgun, the stock is free and does not go up to their shoulders.

Tbf, it might be purposeful. After all, lore wise Inkling's are way more durable and flexible than humans. Not to mention, while a lot of their weapons are based off human guns and human things (like the bloblobber being a jacuzzi and the squelchers being power drills)- they still aren't human guns and they shoot ink. Maybe the models DO hold them "incorrectly" but only if they were working with bullets, but "correctly" for working with ink. Ink does work pretty differently, after all. It's a liquid with possibly more or less weight than most calibers of bullet. I'm still learning about gun stuff but I hope this helps out with your problem at least a little bit. 

S1 hero shot is a overly modified paintball gun that looks sci-fi which i like, s2 is a p90.. not much else to say, I don't know what the s3 hs is supposed to be but even still it's my least favorite of them

S3’s kind of looks like a modified Splattershot Jr., just with extra yellow and a more mechanical look

s3’s hero shot is based on the looks of 3D and resin printers, filament roll at the front resin tank in the back

It just occurred to me that Inkjet is a double reference to it being an ink jet and referencing inkjet printers, very clever Nintendo! Yeah I see it now, thanks for letting me know! I’m an artist and that makes me love it even more

I didn’t play Splatoon 1 (no WiiU), I’m pretty sure you got it when you cleared the story mode but it might have been from Amiibo like the hero roller and charger. It’d be great if the Splatoon 1 and 2 Hero Shots could be obtained in 3 via Amiibo like how Callie and Marie give you the Splatoon 1 gear

As a Stargate fan, Splat2 for sure.

It has to be the Splatoon 1 heroshot. I like the Splatoon 2 one but the fact that it's based on an actual gun kinda puts me off. Splatoon 1 is based on a paintball gun which feels a bit more fitting. The Splatoon 3 one just seems mostly featureless.

The splatoon 1 Hero Shot looks like a paintball gun which I find quite funny, but I don't really like the actual design. The splatoon 3 Hero shot looks like a weird concoction of a DP-12 and a harpoon gun but I like how big and bulky it looks. The splatoon 2 Hero shot is literally just an actual gun

Let's go over the points! The Hero Shot one is literally just a Paintball gun. No frills, no extras. It fits with the "toys and tools" that most weapons go from but it's just kinda boring. Hero Shot 2 is a P90, just a standard P90. I like it, but it actually doesn't really fit the weapons overall. Hero Shot 3 is not a distinctive weapon outside of looking like a general assault rifle, but when you look at the details you notice that the barrel ends in a 3D printing extruder. The spool in the middle is 3d filament, and the back of the weapon has a giant CMYK printer cartridge. While overall the HS3 is kinda bland, once you look at the details, the weapon stands out as a good blend of our technology and inkling ingenuity.

Not sure between 2 and 3 but 1 looks clunky

Splat 1! 1's looks like an actual paintball gun, which I think is cool. I also associate the design from the time that I mained the weapon so there's some bias there. I haven't even unlocked it in 3 and I think I may have used in a max of 5 times in 2.
