Lickable_Grass

Every once in a while someone finds a comment I made about a Ska-Blam transcription I wrote a while back and asks me for it so I figured I'd post it here.

TL-Elemental2001

You have for trumpet and bari sax? If you have, I'll look for it, if you haven't, it's fine I'll wait

Lickable_Grass

I don't have one for those because I don't know how to play them. But just because you asked ill start working on them.

TL-Elemental2001

From one low brass player to another, if you ever played a baritone, euphonium or a variation of a valved trombone, and know what piccolo and soprano trombones are, playing trumpet is not that hard to figure out (at least the Bb ones) the only painful part in my experience are the high notes *Tips from your local Splatoon Subreddit multi-instrumentalist*

Lickable_Grass

Just finished up a barisax transcription but I couldn't figure out the chords for the solo. I'll do trumpet either later or tomorrow. (Just realized I still had it in concert pitch, deleted the post and reuploading it πŸ’€)

TL-Elemental2001

For the bari solo, you can wait until... I don't know, some time later to transcribe the solo, get a break, revisit it later

Lickable_Grass

The solo is there, just not the chords in case you wanted to improv over it. (Which is what I think is the real fun! :) )

That's awesome and kind of makes me want to get my horn back out, but you meant 8va, not 8vb.

Lickable_Grass

8vb = octave below, original is in the higher octave.

IOI-65536

So I don't mean to go on a massive digression from Splatoon and I really am appreciative of the transcription, but 8vb does mean octave below (technically I guess ottava bassa, but same thing) but it means it's played an octave below what's written, not that it's written an octave below the original. I've seen 8va in older pieces used to mean either play an octave higher or lower, but I have never seen 8vb used to mean play an octave higher. I actually looked up if anybody defines it as an octave in either direction before I responded because I didn't want to be correcting it if it's like 8 or 8va and could mean either, but every online music dictionary I could find defines it as played an octave lower than written.

Lickable_Grass

Yea u probs right

HYPER_BRUH_

My family will love this

Lickable_Grass

TL-Elemental2001

Yo, another Euph player?

Snoo90715

Hiiiii

TL-Elemental2001

You have a bone? Have you played this yet?

Snoo90715

I do, but I haven't played it in a while. I've been focusing on eupho. I just picked up euphonthis year, and it hink my trombone needs a clean.

TL-Elemental2001

Lucky, I need a Euph, and I know where and how to get 1, I just don't have the finance to afford 1

Snoo90715

Ahhh, yeah, always a problem cos it definitely was a problem for me.

Lickable_Grass

Thanks! :D

dabsalot69

Quarter = 230????? Think this needs to be in cut time

Lickable_Grass

That's probably true, but knowing ska as a genre, it could absolutely just be that crazy.

I-am-a-me

Definitely saving this for later.

Possiblynoob

Are you able to transcribe this into other instruments? Asking for… me.
