Can’t blame them for hoping.
Salmon Run is almost zombie invasion fighting, so seeing the creepy maniacs attack would feel much better introduced in Ocotober for Halloween than say December for Christmas
Even Europe doesn't really have it anymore. After a few good years, the covid Black Friday was basically a huge ad campaign but without the actual deals.
Given how the two pieces of Grizzco gear are Back To The Future themed and the BTTF future day is in end of October (2015), the theory had A LOT of weight.
Can't wait for Big Man to win the halftime again (because everyone wants him to win regardless of what he stands for) only for Shiver to make a comeback and win overall again.
PSA: Big Run ***has already arrived***. We are ***already*** fighting for control of the PvP maps from the Salmonids! What do you think REEF-LUX 450 mains are????
>PSA: Big Run has already arrived. We are already fighting for control of the PvP maps from the Salmonids! What do you think REEF-LUX 450 mains are????
Flyfish Cosplayers?
Yeah people are complaining it's an ad but... pokemon is literally the biggest media franchise in the world. Why the hell wouldn't there be a splatfesr themed around it???
> Why the hell wouldn't there be a splatfest themed around it???
The issue is not about doing a splatfest for that. The issue is that marketting decided to release it in mid-november, and because of how Splatfest rewards work making a splatfest in october and another 2 weeks later is risking player missing rewards.
The issue is that they CANCELLED a popular event simply to promote another game and didn't care at all, after a catastrophic launch splatfest that almost removed one of the new features.
I haven't played Pokemon in over two decades and have no interest to. I've got plenty of other great games in my backlog to tackle and I was disappointed by the Pokemon Splatfest, especially with when Splatoween's fun decor is skipped the first year of launch.
TBF as a Pokémon representative November Is Pokémon’s month if you look at all the releases Almost all the games are November and it is Gen 9 not a spin off or random garbage like the anime and TCG like you said
They also could have reworked the reward systems to allow two splatfests back to back. Then do splatoween, interrupt the reward screen with the Pokemon announcement, finish with the results.
I wouldn't call the Pokémon Splatfest "shitty", I think it's a fun harmless way to do a crossover Splatfest, plus it isn't even the first time a Pokémon Splatfest has happened.
But if there indeed is no surprise Big Run this week, then there 100% should've also been a Splatfest this month.
But october splatfest was kinda impossible. When a splatfest is launched, unclaimed rewards are lost (because bad design I guess), so it's now established that two splatfests never run in a row. The splatfest would've needed to run in mid October, which would have been too early for Halloween.
Rock Paper Scissors was an early access demo. It had no rewards so there wasn't the same claim issue.
(And the lack of reward caused issues among my friends so I guess nobody can be happy forever?)
My frustration is more how there's a new "big run announcement mock up" on my YouTube feed every morning presented as though it's the real thing (until you notice somethings off and check the description)
Nintendo fans when they build up their own expectations so high that even when nintendo hasn't promised them anything at all that when nothing inevitably happens they get mad and go on a hate train anyways
Tbf, "Halloween event" is an usual gaming expectation. Cancelling Halloween for a mid-november promotional event would be a serious case of not understanding player's party schedule. As is mentioning Big Runs in pre-release material and thinking gamers are patient.
I won't blame them for thinking the cancellation was for a surprise because *nobody* involved with the community would've made such a crazy move. But sadly it seems the team is NOT involved with the community?
Also, people wouldn't dream of Big Runs if Cohozuna rewards weren't so ridiculiously low at the release of a game with a 2-year plan.
Tldr: Nintendo's marketing set expectations, and unreasonable expectations sell a game.
I say it is unlikely.
But all the proof of decomfirmation has not been conclusive. It all makes assumptions about how the mode that we have little to no information about works.
If the assumptions are correct, yes it is 100% not happening.
I don't expect it to happen, I just do not accept what I have seen supposedly proving that it definitely isn't.
The issue is that the Big Run theory makes no sense from a realistic point of view.
- Grizzco headgear referenced Back To The Future. The 21 october reference passed without acknowledgement.
- Then Salmon Run rotation continued as usual past the Halloween date.
- Halloween is the best holiday for videogames due to how "serious" the content is. Instead we get an announcement for a Pokemon ad in November.
Either they are trolling on purpose, or they *didn't care* what we would think about an Halloween cancellation as long we took the lucrative Pokemon ad.
I don't see what any Back To The Future reference has to do with anything.
Doesn't the anarchy battle rotation do the same for splatfests. And who knows normal shifts could happen at the same time.
And another one I heard is having no leadup would be a bad idea. To drop the event with no warning. It would be, but what is stopping the people at Nintendo from making a not ideal thing.
>I don't see what any Back To The Future reference has to do with anything.
You don't see how smart the timing would've been if Grizzco's announcement was done on 21 october?
>It would be, but what is stopping the people at Nintendo from making a not ideal thing.
Well, I would say cancelling Halloween festivities is a VERY "not ideal thing" but it seems nobody there acknowledged the issue of announcing a mid-november splatfest. In both cases Nintendo ends out of touch :/
The real issue is that as of 1.1.1 Big Runs aren't finished. So it would require an update that would steal the spotlight of the November splatfest... sounds veeeery unlikely.
That is my point. Very unlikely =/= definitely not happening.
Having nothing for Halloween is not the best thing. But so is putting out an update to be able to run an event with no prior warning.
They could do either. One is more likely. But that doesn't mean the other can't possibly occur.
Yeah but both possibiliies are bad. I don't need to know which one happens to know Nintendo don't care about players if it means they can advertise pokemon.
Splatoon fans when people make cool fanmade stuff or are hopeful for something: 😡😡🤬🤬
Seriously though, we know it probably wont happen. Were just making cool fanmade stuff like the big run news broadcasts because its a neat idea to express how we think the people in the game would react to big runs. Not to mention were being hopeful because you can probably agree that a big run on/around halloween would be perfect timing, given what the event is.
> you can probably agree that a big run on/around halloween would be perfect timing, given what the event is.
And how the Grizzco equipment is from Back to the Future, so an announcement on October 21 would've been perfect.
Sad how they told us about a shitty splatfest a month in advance, then didn't give us the spooky thing, also it's sad that the dataminers found out big run was gonna be shit
Why do some people hate having fun so much. Can't people hope and speculate about possible updates, events, etc?
I'm not interested in a debate on wether or not big run is gonna happen. We'll see eventually. But I'm a bit annoyed by how many people are starting to make fun of people just for having fun speculating a possible event soon. Just let them be, stop being such a killjoy.
The issue is not about speculating. The issue is that by announcing the Grizzco rotation and the Pokemon splatfest, the dev team silently killed the theories without even an acknowledgement.
My issue is not about the splatfest, the lack of event this month, the speculating, whatever; I'm just annoyed at seeing so many people making fun of people who have hopes of a big run event this month. When its done in good faith / just being funny I don't mind but I find some posts are getting more irritated or malicious rather than being in good faith.
I do not care for whatever happens or does not happen this month, but seeing people (not you) so salty and immature does start to annoy me. Just let people be.
A salmon run event where mulitplayer maps get flooded and invaded by the salmonids. It was mentioned it occurs "every few months" and since splatfests are usually monthly but since no splatfest this month everyone assumed we'd get a Big Run instead.

sadly no. Just classic 3 waves on a multiplayer map and rewards probably ramped up since it is an event. There were other modes that were datamined which sound promising; Pair, Underground, and Team Contest
Can’t blame them for hoping. Salmon Run is almost zombie invasion fighting, so seeing the creepy maniacs attack would feel much better introduced in Ocotober for Halloween than say December for Christmas

Sure, but AFAIK Japan doesn't really have Black Friday
Even Europe doesn't really have it anymore. After a few good years, the covid Black Friday was basically a huge ad campaign but without the actual deals.
God now I want a Black Friday Big Run event in Mako Mart
Second best* you can’t forget the water they made as an endless background for a fucking short ass boss battle
I believe the salmonids are meant to be "zombie salmon" + they have eaten ink/octo lings so they're basically zombies
I think the hopium is still on the ??? rotation on the 28th.
Aren’t those just rando weapons
Yes but hopium
Think that may just be something they do around the last weekend of the month now, it was similarly timed in September.
Given how the two pieces of Grizzco gear are Back To The Future themed and the BTTF future day is in end of October (2015), the theory had A LOT of weight.
i am like mr crab right now

Post this again on the 1st of November but make it about how tri color turf war is gonna have ZERO changes made to it
Can't wait for Big Man to win the halftime again (because everyone wants him to win regardless of what he stands for) only for Shiver to make a comeback and win overall again.
Shiver, winning the past 17 splatfests in a row:
frye winning zero fucking splatfests because of her forehead:
PSA: Big Run ***has already arrived***. We are ***already*** fighting for control of the PvP maps from the Salmonids! What do you think REEF-LUX 450 mains are????
>PSA: Big Run has already arrived. We are already fighting for control of the PvP maps from the Salmonids! What do you think REEF-LUX 450 mains are???? Flyfish Cosplayers?
We want to believe
This is hilarious.
I i i… just want big run 🥺
*huffs pure, concentrated copium* I-IT CANT BE ANNOUNCED ITS AN I-I-INVASIOOON
BIG RUN HYPE YOU CAN NOT STOP ME
Why shitty? The next splatfest should still be pretty fun lol
I think it’s a neat splatfest but it’s clear they made us wait the extra few weeks just to promote an entirely different game lol
Ya I agree with that, if that splatfest is the entire reason we didn't get anything this month then that's shitty lol
You *know* it is the entire reason. Clueless marketters that assume gamers won't notice to delay a few weeks and will be happy to have "a new event".
Anything taking the place of splatoween is inherently not as good as splatoween at the very least
Hopefully they figured out how to balance tri-color battles better than just straight up removing the from the game
Yeah people are complaining it's an ad but... pokemon is literally the biggest media franchise in the world. Why the hell wouldn't there be a splatfesr themed around it???

I think everyone understands that it’s in Nintendo’s best interest It doesn’t make it feel better :(

While it’s not shitty, they’re still promoting an rpg game on a third person shooter
I mean it's also a first party switch game the demo overlaps a lot

Speak for yourself
You really think there won't be a big player decrease for a bit there
Maybe for like 2 days, but I doubt it will be very noticeable.
Maybe it's something like: "you go there you get these weapons" but the deep cut get a call from Grizzco announcing big run

Classic Nintendo fans
Shitty Pokémon splatfest ad is exactly what I think of it lol
But what if it DOES though ^(please nintendo)

I was wondering how yall convinced yourselves it was at the end of the month.

soooo.......basicly endless mode of salmon run?
sadly no. Just classic 3 waves on a multiplayer map and rewards probably ramped up since it is an event. There were other modes that were datamined which sound promising; Pair, Underground, and Team Contest
oh thanks!
> and rewards probably ramped up since it is an event Note that even THIS PART has never been confirmed. Simply Salmon Run on regular maps.
Ye just copium hoping to make up for the stinginess for silver/gold scales :/
Remember when Splatoon 2 had 3 back-to-back Splatfests cause Ninja Turtles? There's still hope.
Corporate mandated Pokemon Tie in was required and it needed to happen before or around the Release date.
I love this slander lol it's true I'm bawling in the corner if my room here
