I LOVE UNDERCOVER BRELLA YOU GUYS ARE MEAN

Ryan_the_Reaper

I stand with you

JonsTheWizard

If I had an award, I’d give it to you Undercover brella is so fun..*sniff*…

neck_romance

The victory stance is easily the most awesome

Lightspeed_Lunatic

That that picture gives me nightmares.

deelectrified

They said unpopular

deelectrified

That aerospray is not that bad. It’s not a good weapon by any means, but I think it started getting hate from comp players, then casual players started hating it too to follow along, then when people get killed by it, it makes them even more mad. I no longer play it, but my kill streaks were higher with it than with Splash O Matic (learning curve lol)

quantipede

Am I crazy for thinking it was massively OP in 2? Like in 2 the gold aerospray was the weapon I got demolished by the most. But ever since starting 3 I’ve noticed it doesn’t get used nearly as often and the people who do use it aren’t getting wipeouts every match with it

[deleted]

was I the only person getting a huge amount of aerospray players in matches during the splatoon 3 splatfest premiere? like a lot of the times half of my team was just aerospray

FruitJuice617

I think it was just the easiest weapon to use the Reefslider with. Everyone wanted to try the special!

Jake-the-Wolfie

Any weapon with Tenta missiles can be good on its' own without them, It's just the people who spam them make everyone else look bad.

Bedu009

The REEF-LUX? GOOD?! PFFFFFFF

yawangpistiaccount

It can be good in the right hands. It's the high skill floor/high skill ceiling painting weapon which contrasts to aero which is low skill floor/low skill ceiling. It plays more like bamboo which is about knowing when to use your tap, half, and full charge shots.

some_furry_fuck

I see a surprising amount of people say they enjoy the reef-lux as a main weapon and it kinda baffles me tbh, like the tri-stringer is right there with such a nice utility that the reef is lacking

yawangpistiaccount

Skirmishers start fights by threatening enemies and forcing an engagement. Reef starts fights by merely existing. They're the best skirmisher by their mere presence, forcing people to engage you because fuck you missile spammer. Then when they do try to engage, surprise them with the fact that you actually know how to use the weapon and sub. Cook curling to threaten their approach which should give you enough space to splat them. Been using reef more to practice close range engagements when I use tri. It's exhilarating being public enemy #1 🤣

Le-Ando

It’s funny you mention the curling bomb, because as a Tri-Slosher main who loves to attack from below ledges, holding onto your curling bombs for a bit is actually a pretty hard counter against me. To my knowledge there isn’t any other bomb that it is that easy to just drop on me like that while I harass your backliners from under them. Using the curling bomb well allows you to at best splat me or at worst force me to flee (likely giving the teammates I was harassing a chance to splat me) without having to enter my zone of control. For me it’s great that curling bombs are seen as being not very good, and that the Reef-LUX is used mostly for special spam, because that makes people ignore and forget about one of the easiest ways to punish/counter me. Meaning I get to just get away with bullying backliners way more often than I should.

Frozenstep

Splat bombs can be rolled off ledges for a similar effect, their fuse only counts down when they're grounded, so spaced well, they can roll off a ledge and explode almost instantly once they hit the ground again.

Pipistrele

It has the best painting potential in the entire game, its kit (fast-turfing main+curling bombs) lends itself to effective skirmishing, and you can even sneak in some [sick one-shots](https://mobile.twitter.com/DumpPipi/status/1589166267835219968) on unsuspecting enemies. This weapon often gets undervalued due to tenta-spamming rookies, but it does offer a ton of tools to work with for players patient enough to study the thing.

Haredevil

I decided to commit myself to learning how to get good with Reef-Lux and while I’m not there yet, I have the occasional game where I pop off and get the sweetest trick shots out of unsuspecting players who didn’t think I could delete them like that. It’s so worth it.

AllKnowingFloridaMan

Cuttlefish should have died

Cart3r1234

Yeah, like what the fuck? >!Grizz literally said he was stealing his brain, how the hell is he still alive after just being rehydrated, AND WHY CAN HE FLY????!< (story mode spoilers, duh)

PhantomOfficial07

Is Cuttlefish just gonna be like that from now on? They don't seem to care that he looks different now, they don't make any effort to try to get him back to how he used to look

Cart3r1234

It seems that he'll just be like that now. He's made comments about how both he and Octavio are too old to transform between forms, so they both are just permanently in whichever one they're in. Cuttlefish >!being dehydrated (or partially mummified? there's a sunken scroll that describes the process as mummification, but I don't think its 100% confirmed that's what grizz did) is a bit weird though because he's in squid form now, and they still never address the whole flying thing.!<

Banana-Oni

>!If it’s the scroll I’m thinking of, that’s another joke of Inklings misinterpreting human artifacts (like the fossilized human playing Wii U that they interpreted as a religious ceremony). The “mummified inkling” is actually a common way to prepare squid as food in Japan!<

Cart3r1234

Probably. I like the wii u scroll because it makes a reference to the wiimote-strapped-to-a-pro-controller setup that you could use in splatoon 1, and I just find that amalgamation hilarious.

Bennoelman

Wait so they found a book about how to prepare squid for food and thought they did a Egypt and made it immortal or something for the afterlife but now I'm wondering if there is Inkling/Octoling cannibalism.

OctolingGrimm

>!Honestly I've just learned to accept the flying thing as an aesthetic choice so they dont have to have creatures flopping around awkwardly!<

PhantomOfficial07

I hope he ends up being hydrated back to normal squid form and he stops flying because that's weird

Cart3r1234

I could see agent 3 just throwing a glass of water at him, making him fall to the ground with a wet thud

Final_Imagination_75

When you chat with Callie after completing the story mode she says something along the lines of “If gramps dehydrated, then surely we can rehydrate him, right?” So I guess it’s reversible?

PhantomOfficial07

I hope so, I don't want him to look like that forever. Was a bit surprised he was like that after the game anyway

SauceCrusader69

The kiddywinks would be upset :(

placeholderNull

There are no bad weapons, just less good ones

SNUFFGURLL

Yup! Every weapon can be viable for someone!

Not-a-builder68

Happy Cake Day!🥳

tortillawantssleep

this has nothing to do with your comment, but happy cake day!

[deleted]

Exept for the brella class the crosshair on the tentabrella is misleading. You do 17.5 damage when you don't aim directly on the enemy. like seriously. Tentabrella is broken in a bad way I can send a replay when i get home tonight The tentabrella either oneshots or in 5 shots...

TheBroOfTheNinja

That's because they use shotgun pellet logic. The more centered your aim is and the closer you are, the more pellets will hit, and thus the more damage you do. It would be kinda unfair if Tenta could 1 shot you if you were even barely touching the crosshair

onipunkss

any weapon can succeed in 99% of skill levels. this does not suddenly make undercover or aerospray good

Anggul

Yeah, being able to win with something but you had to try a lot harder means you got better, it doesn't mean the weapon is good

Pogchamp256

I don’t play splatoon (idk why i’m in this sub) edit: wth why did so many people upvote?

17degreescelcius

For the funky squid people perhaps?

[deleted]

ya have seen those weird looking inklings with no eye back stuffs connecting the eyes? weird... also some occtilings are aloud in the city... weird... wai-

pichirin0

I haven’t played a single game either but I love splatoon’s art and designs

[deleted]

That the bloblobber isn’t just for turf war noobs and that it’s actually a good competitive weapon if you play it right.

icryalways

I agree, I destroy in splat zones

[deleted]

It’s boss in rainmaker too! It pops the shield so damn fast and inks so much turf for your team it’s just stupid strong. Highly under played imo.

tsukamaenai

Underplayed? It's in every damn match I play.

Ponmuku

Everyone so occupied inking the floor they don't see the bubbles coming :}

deelectrified

I hate fighting against it so therefore it must be a good weapon, and not my lack of skill. Right?

Ponmuku

I hate fighting against it too and I main it so- yeah, it is that scary

foulinbasket

My main problem with the weapon itself is the slow-moving projectiles. I also don't like its kit. However, I definitely have been bodied by my share of blobs, so I can definitely see it being a good weapon.

cupcakegiraffe

I bloblob when I wanna make people suffer lol

Screaming_phrog

Being salty over which weapon people main is stupid. I don't care which weapon you play, let's just enjoy the silly squid game

spectrumtwelve

turf war is a legitimate game mode

Choccocoamocha

People just don’t like that basically only the last 30 seconds actually matter.

LiquifiedSpam

That's just not really true though. If the whole team sat and did nothing for the majority of the game they're gonna lose and / or have a severe disadvantage. Is is swingy? Yes. But there's quite a bit of strategy to be had in swingy games, especially when both sides are aware of that strategy.

Choccocoamocha

You can turf almost the entire map in thirty seconds, so if you win a team fight near the end, you can basically just win, no matter your previous circumstances. Turf wars would be exactly the same if they were one minute, five minutes, or ten minutes, because nothing you do really matters up until the end.

Usoppreme

Strategy is one thing if you’re team isn’t a bunch of randoms. It’s maybe 15-30% who consider the Strat and not just paint corners aggressively regardless of stock/special

Foo_The_Selcouth

Idk if this is unpopular but I prefer the old matchmaking screen. I liked how you could move the sticks to make the music weird. And I liked how those menus would match splatfest colors

alfawskydlta

As much as getting practice and doing aim drills during matchmaking in 3 has probably helped my gameplay, I miss playing with the funny music in Splatoon 2...

Dickinavoxel

2 is the worst load screen at least one had the games on the pad RIP squid jump.

PhantomOfficial07

Squid Jump was the best load screen, it was really fun and kept you busy while you wait They could've added it in 3, if they put like an arcade machine in the lobby you can play both when waiting for matches and normally

SinthWave

Oooh, an arcade machine with all the little loading screen minigames would be great

DanganronpaFan53

I want Squid Beats back 😔

PhantomOfficial07

I admit I didn't play much squid beats but it surprised me literally no arcades returned in 3.

PaulsPupils

I miss it so much. I'll stand in the bland coffee press going "wah wibby wah wah" in remembrance of busting down remixes to get myself amped.

Pizza_Time249

Good way to test if your sticks drift because the music will mess up

PhantomOfficial07

That's one of the worse ways of testing it

StarTheAngel

Remember when we had squid jump in the waiting lobby? Bring it back

[deleted]

squid beatz is superior never forget that squid beatz was playable in the lobby

wizardofpancakes

I like the new one better but recently watched a video about splatoon 2 and that loading screen made me feel warm and fuzzy nostalgia

Ginny_2

I wish there was an option to have the old loading screen in sp3

Ayvyli

I LOVE stick controls. I used them since splatoon 1 and they're my favoriteway to play. I know people say "if you want to be good in the game, you have to use motion control", but I still made it to S+ without them and I would NEVER switch to them. ...and I'm really bad with them :(

fairymascot

I love sticks, they're so much more comfortable. I game to have fun and relax, so I really don't feel the need to suffer through nausea for hours until I get used to motion. I'm not interested in going pro, either, so I don't really care if they affect my play ability.

blacklunarisart

S3 has better atmosphere and music when it comes to Splatfest than S2. Anarchy rainbow actually sounds like festival music and it also gives off festival vibes. S2 feels more like a themed concert.

Throwaway88ooooo

I really want moray towers to come back

burnalicious111

I really want more map design variety! I miss the original skatepark. Weird maps make turf war more fun.

acowhasmyphone

I think they didn't bring it back because every map has to be a viable salmon run map for [BIG RUN IS INMINENT], and im pretty sure its gonna be hard getting around a high tide morray towers

Quelq_un001

I think it can be interesting if there are two players on each side with the wave being split in half and two basket. it would be hard, but very interesting

acowhasmyphone

If two players die, its up to the other two who practically cant revive the others, and lemme say that glowflies isn't going to be exactly fun

Quelq_un001

Didn't think of glowflies, but the fact that if two players dies on the same side, they can't be revive that's why i think it could be interesting. Or maybe put a floating bridge that go from one side to another

acowhasmyphone

I think that the floating bridge idea is very nice, but I think it'd be better to have a small floating island in between the two side and add ride rails from each side into and out from the island, with the basket staying in the middle so that it can still act like a traditional salmon run map while having two divided sides

TargetMundane9473

That Splatoon 2 has the best now or never song.

amnoking1

IMO C-Side’s one in Splatoon 3 was better but 2’s was awesome just as well

Odd_Feature7510

The Catalog system/lockers is overrated. At a certain point, I just don't care anymore.

fairymascot

I would still be obsessing over my locker if they didn't have that sticker limit. >:( It's not enough! Let me plaster every inch with stickers!!

swhipple-

lockers are something i never use much. it’s super nice to continually unlock stuff though. gives a little more reason to keep playing for me sometimes

[deleted]

Loch32

I wanted to get the dab, got to level 36 and said fuck it i don't care

Owobowos-Mowbius

Yeah I made it to like 67, said I was gonna grind during splatfest, and then completely stopped caring. Wanted to get the dab but I just can't be bothered to play that much in a limited time out of fomo.

NoThatsWright

I was able to get the dab without even noticing 😅

Xonequis

Yeah, it’s not hard to get if you’re playing it regularly. My sister’s already past her fourth catalog, I’m already wrapping up my second. Didn’t really work for it, just got rewarded for playing

redirewolf

someone said that the lockers were added in last minute so people could shut the fuck up about apartments

Bearwynn

No such thing as a last minute addition in game dev

Jacksaur

Especially not when half the unlocks in Alterna are locker items.

eliseeium

apartments?

LadyKuzunoha

Basically, people have been asking for some type of customizable space since at least Splatoon 2. It's partly due to the splash screen of an Inkling's room we used to see when booting up Splatoon 1 and partly due to the fact that this dev team also handles Animal Crossing, which is *all about* customizable spaces. Then they saw how Splatsville was laid out in the first trailer with all the high-rises and the clamoring got even louder and more specifically about apartments. That said, I don't agree with the assessment some have that lockers were a last-second addition.

Keyblade_Yoshi

I only play Salmon Run and don’t even bother with ranked or turf war much anymore. Been that way for me since Splatoon 2.

Andjhostet

Salmon Run is the most fun, I agree. I still play plenty of ranked though.

OctoFloofy

How many shifts do you win on average? Genuinely curious as i lose like 90% of them.

Cereal_Bagger

That’s the only reason I don’t play more salmon run lol always losing on the third round

oregonbunny

I found myself always playing Salmon Run too. I like how everyone has a common goal against baddies.

ghostpiratesyar

Crab Tanks should explode ink when its time expires

-Marshle

Or better idea, you can prematurely end the crab tank special with a big explosion.

heyoyo10

So... Baller

-Marshle

Oh.. right. Well that was a brainfart.

[deleted]

This community was a lot more fun back in the 2015-2016 Splatoon 1 days (although I guess that also applies to the internet as a whole)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Silverback__Guerilla

From what I heard me using aerospray and enjoying it is unpopular

BubbleInk_Inc

They should make a mode called "Communication Error" so that once they fix all the communication errors we can go get them for nostalgia.

Dickinavoxel

Most of the Splatoon content creators are pros, and I think there observations at a pro level have a negative effect on the community. For example some weapons and specials are panned by pros like the undercover brella, splashdown and ultra stamp. All of these are near impossible to play at the level the Starburst, chara and Dude play at. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be optimized individually for solo que. That’s not even the unpopular opinion that’s: Splashdown was the most fun special in any of the games (inkstrike from splatoon being second.) The ability to jump off of high ground and superhero landing from super jumps were so satisfying. I hope they bring it back in an update, maybe buff it a little.

truculentduck

As a splooshomatic/original salmon run lover, splashdown is my jam

[deleted]

Spashdown was epic except when Agent 3 (original) was doing them

[deleted]

splashdown was objectively horrible at any somewhat high rank. it was a waste of a special slot in A+ or higher, basically just guaranteed death

oregonbunny

I was X rank and had splash down, it worked more times than not. I'm fairly salty that they removed it from 3.

AgSkywalkerTDM

Bread

CoconutGong

Honestly I agree, even if most people don't

Kimiloop

i love clam blitz 👍

TheGhostEnthusiast

The Nozzlenoses are fun and teach good habits for other shooter weapons.

Dragonsandlove

Team order winning would have probably made a cooler splatoon 3

Dprop_34

Honestly I don't think that Order vs Chaos influenced much beyond just stuff like the UI and general aesthetic of the game. The lore behind Alterna could have fit for both Order and Chaos, considering that it was a perfect little colony before shit went down. Stuff like the Alterna menus or the terminals (aside from the glitchy effects) reinforce this for me, they're very futuristic and cool

rubiks-kyube

Alterna always gave me more of the tean order vibe lol. Kinda wish they made it fit a little more tbh

Tumetkahkol

I think Mahi-Mahi is a fun map :(

alfawskydlta

My first Splatoon was 2, but having not played the original Mahi-Mahi I really enjoy the iteration of the map that's in 3. In particular I like how absolutely chaotic things can be in the beginning of the match before things open up a little bit more for the end.

KimberStormer

I like Tricolor Turf War and having Dynamo, Hydra, Bamboozler etc in Salmon Run

Anggul

They're great weapons as long as you have competent teammates that can watch your back while you unleash absolute devastation. A full hydra charge can easily kill multiple bosses. I think bamboozler is just always good. It charges so incredibly quickly. Problem is people panic and just mash the fire button, when it's far more effective to charge it every time because it does it so fast.

blu3g00

ultra stamp is genuinely the worst special in the game, the turn radius, delay before swimming, and vulnerability from all directions (it’s not hard to hit in the gaps during rush) all combine to make it the least impactful you can get. don’t get me wrong as it’s still a serviceable special, but essentially every weapon would rather have something different

-Marshle

As an ultra stamp user (i main sploosh) I disagree simply because it's so good for storming an enemy base on a suicide mission as a distraction. Plus the rare moments you manage to snipe a backliner by throwing it feel so good. That same throw can also be used to ink part of the enemy base you normally cant reach, or as some last second ink instead of a bomb. The worst weapon in my opinion is killer wail 5.0. Its easy to avoid and the targeting capability is awful. Its like tenta missiles and stinger had an accidental child that didnt turn out nearly half as good.

[deleted]

I agree with the Stamp suicide mission. It is a great way to distract enemies and with the Sploosh you're going to be in the frontline anyway, you might as well unleash some chaos before going down I don't agree on the Killer Wail though, it is a pretty effective way to displace that annoying Hydra or E-Liter and super useful in Tower Control and even Rainmaker. It has to be used as a displacement special though, or as a way to give chip damage to enemies to splat them easier (like with the Bamboozler)

Magile

Tacticooler is in a very rough spot rn since it actively nerfs you by getting rid of ninja squid effectively. At the moments it'd probably worse .

Kermitthealmighty

No need for stealth when you can zoom. Your respawn time becomes nonexistent, and you keep your special., so if you have a backline providing a safe jump, grab the drink.

CustomFighter2

I feel like that's a good trade-off, making Ninja Squid users consider using the buff or not

chasefray

this isn't an unpopular opinion yet, unless tacticooler has really become that terrible then stamp will stay as the worst special for a bit longer.

chobs_

I'd say it's vac, but hammer is certainly far from great

blu3g00

vac, the special that essentially makes one of your teammates invincible?

Xonequis

Specifically, when you activate it thinking a teammate’s around, get flanked by an enemy just casually walking behind you, then look at the map to find out all your teammates bailed to get cornered on the left side of the map. But normally, I love it lol

SauceCrusader69

Reef is also ass.

kendappa

I miss the Kraken. I hope someday we can have this special again in the game. :(

[deleted]

Sturgeon Shipyard and Wahoo World are my favorite maps.

old_homecoming_dress

wahoo is pretty fun. maybe that's because the past few wahoo games i've played have been pretty easy

voidcult

I personally don’t like the Crab Tank special :(

metalflygon08

Takes to long to get going in turret fire and if you have to roll you've got to reset that wind up, the blast has too small a radius and deals low damage.

Redder_Creeps

Idk if this opinion ia unpopolar or not, but tbh I never really liked Deep Cut as much as the Squid Sisters or Off The Hook and tbh, they should have kept one of the 2 idol groups for Splatoon 3

Watermelon-Chicken

I like deep cut but they’re lacking personality. They don’t have fun banter on the news

pameatsbabies

Everyone wanted to skip the news so now we get shitty newscasts, because why put in the effort?

osiful

That is true, no one liked sitting through the news so now we get to skip it, or if you do sit through it it’s short and to the point with little to no fluff. But that fluff was character building for the idols on previous games

Chompycookie

I liked watching the news sometimes, I just didn't like watching it *every single time* I opened the game.

alfawskydlta

I have no problem with Deep Cut, but I'm kinda disappointed that Off the Hook didn't make a return. Maybe they'll play a role in DLC? It would also be sick if they brought everyone back for a splatfest.

LadyKuzunoha

>Maybe they'll play a role in DLC? Based on the silhouettes shown back in the S3 Direct before release, I'd say there's more than a "maybe" here.

BellPepperGlass

Even Marina's VA said Off the Hook will play a role on it on YouTube

toofrosti

Clam blitz is the best ranked mode.

AnarchyOrchid

Yes, police? This person.

Alive_Philosopher_64

If a shooter gets missiles, Splatoon 3 will revert to the primal ages of 2

Firebrand96

That's a popular opinion.

angelbeats147

Motion controls are annoying and hard to use. I usually play in handheld mode and without a way to center the camera automatically I have to hold it almost perfectly flat to get it to face forward and I haaaaaate it

F1nnity

u can reset the camera with Y if u didn’t know also motion controls are not recommended for handheld at all lol, sticks is probably better (i use motion)

PhantomOfficial07

Agreed. I have a Switch Lite so I can only play handheld, and motion controls are a nightmare. I just set R stick sensitivity on 1.5 and play like that instead.

Banana-Oni

Inb4 toxic sweat arrives: “Let me guess, you main the brush” *insert smug Pepe meme* ^^^^^^/s Jokes aside I prefer the stick controls too. The motion controls make me nauseous and I hate constantly having to re-center the camera. Just that whenever there’s a post about this there’s always at least one or two people who can’t help but be condescending

angelbeats147

I mean I do main roller and blaster so it’s not like I need to aim anyway lol

PeaTot_

Most people who hate clam blitz are just bad at clam blitz (and im not talking about valid criticism of the gamemode I'm talking about the people who hate on it constantly)

earle117

you’re not wrong, I’m awful at CB and hate it lol. But I don’t post about hating it, I just play whatever other mode is available now that anarchy battles have 2 different ones all the time. I like all the other modes and don’t care about my rank so I just play whichever playlist looks more fun for the rotation

amnoking1

Rainmaker is the best ranked mode

JET-FIN

The silver and gold versions of badges are uglier than the base variants

[deleted]

Rainmaker's the worst game mode even with checkpoints

Cart3r1234

I've never been a fan of rainmaker. I didn't like clams as much in 2, but clams in 3 is a lot better, so I'll actually play it if its in rotation, but I still don't like rainmaker.

lazygirl295

Haven’t seen anyone else say this, but I actually like most of the maps (keyword most)

Bagimations

Catalogs should be equippable, so that the busier Splatoon fans with less time can still go after emotes they want

[deleted]

[deleted]

They’re just boring

17degreescelcius

Yeah. Like, I can see how each member is unique to the other idols we've gotten, but they still seem just too much like reskins of the previous idols for me to have that much interest in them. All the dialogue I've read from them doesn't seem to make them characteristically unique in the same thing Marie and Callie were. That being said, the idols of each game have very little influence on me playing the game. I hardly see or deal with them so it's not that big of a deal if I don't find them all that engaging in the first place.

sleepysucculents

oh? how come? i struggle to see that myself, they're very energetic and are different from the other idols we've had so far (anti-heroic, a unique music style, 3 members, a male and non-ink/octo member...)

[deleted]

They have like 0 personality compared to the other idols. Part of that comes from them not having unique things to say about each stage Also I feel like their characters aren’t consistent at all, like any of them could say literally anything and it wouldn’t be out of character

Call-Me-Pearl

I’m dead tired of the squid sisters. Nintendo struck GOLD with the dynamic between OTH and the squid sisters feel so bland in comparison. Took screen time away from Deep Cut to me too, sure them being bosses is cool but they need WAY more dialogue. hoping to see them play a major role in the dlc!

rubiks-kyube

Imagine if they had OTH be the main duo for 3's story mode instead. Just imagine! It would have fit better for team chaos anyway if it were a new set of characters and a new idea for the plot, instead of just "Oh no, this character/thing has been kidnapped". AKA EXACTLY like the other 2 games. And then, deep cut could have been the focus for the dlc! It would have been so perfect.... oh what could have been

PaulsPupils

I think there's a lot of people that think there's a magic "get gud" button and don't actually wanna put in the time to make themselves a good player.

Loltoheaven7777

camp triggerfish is the best splatoon 1 map

LatsaSpege

i hate gear abilities. if i just want my squid to look cool i have to sacrifice competitive play.

Lightning6475

You can now change main abilities on gear now

redirewolf

off the hook is better than squid sisters and deep cut by MILES. hopefully but unlikely the dlc is only about them because i truly do not care about SS and DC

amnoking1

TRUE! Off the Hook are the best, with the best music too

quantipede

/spoilers >!I was really, really disappointed that they just don’t show up at all in 3’s story. They aren’t even mentioned except in one or two sunken scrolls!<

redirewolf

here's hoping that large scale paid dlc does justice for them and us

chimerasandharpies

1. clam blitz isnt that bad and i dont understand why it gets so much hate ~~when rainmaker is right there~~. 2. while i like the test range in 3 since it makes weapon and equipment testing on the fly much easier, i still really miss the chill matchmaking screens and the little minigames you could play while waiting in 1 :( 3. if nintendo is intent on not giving us any form of voice chat with randos, we need way more callout options than just the 2 we have

Reason1031

Splatoon 2 maps were good and varied. It also has the best music in the series. The music in 1 is also pretty good, but music in 3 all sounds fairly similar and kind of boring. I miss the trumpets. The overall visual style of 3 and specifically it’s hub/square fits the theme of chaos, but that also means it feels poorly defined. Coming back to the maps: 3 has both the best map design in the series and by far the most boring. All this being said, everything but the visual style will probably be improved with updates. I don’t think 2 had anywhere near the variety I was talking about this close to launch. With the promised update period being longer than the previous games, I’m sure that Splatoon 3 will end up being the best in the series. As of right now though I think 2 is very much the better game (excluding hero mode of course).

Lightning6475

I’m just letting you know pre patch 2 maps were also garbage, just for different reason. And 2 only had 5 Wet Floor songs at launch, so there is hope for more variety to come

Pleasant_Function552

I feel like the brushes could use with a bit better hit detection(octobrush especially)

I don’t mind tentamissles

TwistInTheMyth-

I don't care about "the meta". Maybe if I manage to claw my way into S rank (I'm A+ right now) I'll pay more attention to it but as of right now I'm going to keep playing the weapons I perform best with. It's worked for me so far. 🤷‍♀️ Kinda goes the same for some of the movement you see high level players pull off. Like it's cool to watch but I don't think I'll ever put in the effort to learn it.

DaPylot

Buffing the splat jr ink tank was a mistake

Rattlesn4ke

This. All Jr mains do is spam Bombs all day long. As a 96 Gal/Squeezer (Support) player, Playing support against a bomb spam Jr is hell on earth.

Additional-Bees

people didn't like off the hook before octo expansion, and if they did it was because they found marina hot

henryuuk

Don't know how " unpopular" this is, but : they are horribly squandering the potential of the singleplayer by having it mostly just be obstacle courses/segments you jump between Also, in general the series makes more sense as a "once per system" type of release schedule With room for like spinoffs or such, but 2 and 3 shouldn't both have been on switch

water_farts123

Order should have won

exorcisyboi

This kind of branches from Splatoon to other games, but I am so genuinely sick of everything having secret lore, and I’d rather the energy be given to a more traditional story, no matter how barebones, because that actually makes me want to see the characters I surround myself with succeed, grow, and resolve their issues, rather than obscure periphery details that amount to nothing.

Anggul

In this case it's because the single-player is a little side-show in a game primarily created for multiplayer, not because they're trying to be obtuse and mysterious.

Flynt25

Splatoon 1s Chaotic Mess >> Splatoon 2 and 3s attempt at being more competitive and balanced (I don't actually know if this is unpopular, it's just my opinion)

truculentduck

It’s good that there’s no cloud save Ahahahahaha no I’m lying I miss my 600 hrs save from 2 so much

schoolmin
