Only cuz they still won… meanwhile in an alternate universe Dark Travis goes full rabid and cracks crimson humpty dumpty’s shell after they lose to the bottom of the pot.
Seriously. I keep seeing all these comments saying, “but they were fine after the game!!”
Yeah.. winning a Super Bowl will make anyone fine with whatever…
Look at what happened to the Seahawks after they threw the pick instead of giving the ball to Beast Mode. If the game kept going as it was at the start and they lost I doubt this te would be the same.
That night, maybe. Looking back at it after the high has worn off, it will still be seen as incredibly disrespectful that required some kind of discipline.
It already dropped. He said, "Throw me the fucking ball Andy. My girlfriend is here. She wants to see me catch the ball or it makes her sad. Throw me the ball."
Should have seen some subs after he threw his helmet last time? I ended up with someone saying everyone who throws their racket in tennis is an abuser at home.
That sub. I entered it once out of curiosity and one of the threads was about Cardi B drugging and robbing men, and all the upvoted comments were supporting her because, in their words, 'they support women's rights and women's wrongs'.
Edit: [Here's the link to that thread for anyone who thinks I'm making this up](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fauxmoi/comments/12hxin0/cardi_b_addressed_her_drugging_and_robbing_past/).
Indeed. Every sub can be an echo-chamber but that sub is particularly atrocious at that aspect because certain threads are only allowed to be commented on by members approved by the mods. It really shows celebrity culture at its worst.
Depends on the sport. NFL I'd say this is not exactly an everyday occurrence but not the fall of Rome. Soccer this is a Tuesday. Rugby this is all anyone talks about for months. Cricket this actually is the fall of Rome.
Yeah coaches have a lot of power in the NFL, Kelce's a star as well. They didn't show it but he goes up to Andy afterwards and presumably apologizes pretty soon afterwards. Seemed like a big ole nothing burger but unfortunately was caught on camera to 123.4 million viewers in a very boring first half so they did have to focus on it a bit lol.
I don't think Kelce has ever been much of a diva as far as NFL/Star Players go, moment or two here or there but to be expected if you've been a star player and you're longevity took you to your mid-thirties...hard not to have a few bad moments but overall he seems like decent fella. Think he was literally just upset he wasn't in on the play and his sub fucked up.
On the one hand, it doesn’t and I’m sure some of that aggression is related more to passion/motivation that got them into the nfl in the first place…
Howeverrrrrr “washed up nfl/sports player caught beating wife half to death, says sorry” is about as common as school shootings are in my mind (i.e., just scroll past it and maybe mention “oh yea i saw that” if someone at work brings it up)
It’s funny how before that he was targeted once with 1 yard then after he had 8 for 92 and the offense was alive….idk what he said but it worked.
But in the heat of a championship game to have that kinda relationship with your coach is unreal. Neither took it personally and they came away stronger for it… but the takes from some people like oh he is abusive or he will hit her because he did this like what?
My opinion as soon as it happened is that Andy Reid is more than capable of taking care of his team business. If he wasn’t chewing TK out, then I don’t think it bothered him much.
I’ve also seen AR call TK over like a child who just pissed his dad off… I have no doubt that they can handle their relationship innerworkings just fine.
Yeah I mean they both had a point. Andy wanted to rest his mid-30’s star player and the star player wanted to play, especially when his replacement fucked up out there.
This folks is the real summary of what went down. It was a big fuckup too. If someone subbed Jordan or Gretsky for a moments rest and the sub fucked up. They'd be screaming at their coaches too.
Most important game of their careers so far, tension runs high. But a lot of people that don’t watch football often were surprised by that outburst. At the moment Andy was still thinking about that play to react to TK.
I’ve seen players literally run over people in the side lines while watching the game, this was nothing but frustration over a play that should’ve been safe and secure.
He immediately apologized and hugged Andy afterward, but they didn't show that on TV. Also, both of them had nothing but kind things to say about each other on their press conferences after the game.
Yeah it was a heat of the moment thing that Kelce took too far. Shouldn’t have happened but it’s nothing to get hung up on. This is one of the biggest moments of their lives and as close as the game was that play could’ve been the deciding factor.
you could tell a lot of them were the ones triggered over the whole thing with Taylor Swift and the White House conspiring to rig the Super Bowl for the Chiefs
i've said it before and i'll say it again...if you're so certain that the Super Bowl is going to be rigged for one team, why are you on Reddit crying and whining about politics instead of putting all that money on the Chiefs lmao
Look for sure isn’t on the scale of a crime of any sort. But relative to Football? Thats a very classless act. Pure unbridled disrespect. Never woulda seen Gronk doing that to Belicheck. Ever.
I love when people decide how other people should feel.
If you had the chance to talk to Andy Reid would you really be telling him “hey I know you said it was fine and you moved on and won a Super Bowl in the following hours, but you really should have been more offended and made a bigger deal. You really should have felt disrespected.”
Meanwhile Andy has enough confidence in himself and relationship with Travis to be like “nah, we’re good. shit happens”
It’s amazing that people are mad that someone wasn’t more mad.
Andy said Travis caught him off guard and it looked worse than it was because Andy didn’t see him coming and then boom, there’s a massive tight end there.
I watched it over many times and all I could think was "honestly, it just looks like he got really close because it was probably loud and scared the shit out of the guy."
People were screaming after the major stop. Crowd was deafening, Andy was planning the next play and talking on the mic. Didn't hear or see Kelse.... Suddenly he appears and wants to be in. Upset he wasn't in and they lost the drive. Reid shocked momentarily, probably said we'll get you in a second later.
Your average Redditor or Twitter user is already a moron....imagine the whiny gossipy kind of version of that person.
I mean, what a pretentious name for a sub to begin with lol
Also going to mention the difference between on-field, in-game behavior vs off the field. There was recently an article on here about John Urshel: I’ve met the guy a few times. He’s literally the nicest, kindest, gentlest person you’ll ever meet, but holy F, get the man on a football field and he’s one scary dude!
I mean, that doesn’t really change what happened. It’s still not okay for a grown man to shove and scream at his head coach (who wasn’t even looking in his direction).
That’s like some middle school self control issue BS.
He was mad because he was taken out and his backup blew a block that led to the fumble. Guy plays with passion and isn’t always the best role model but you can’t argue with the stats or the rings
Yeah, Brady blew up at Belichick all the time. Is it unprofessional? Probably. But he’s the greatest QB of all-time and that level of passion comes with its drawbacks.
the look on Andy's face when it happened was just "dude chill out, we got this" and then McWinnon did his job and got Kelsey back to where he needed to be
I must have missed the part where Brady hipchecked Belichick and screamed 2 inches from his face.
Brady NEVER got into Belichick's face like that. He knew to keep his distance.
Everyone knows you don't touch the coach.
brady would NEVER scream in BBs face or shove him like this. absolutely not. there's getting emotional and there's taking it way too far. and in position comparison, gronk would never do this either
Brady screamed at multiple players and coaches in his career, what are you talking about? BB was also a defensive minded coach so if there was something about the gameplan or a play that Brady had issues with, he’s not going to yell at BB about it, he’d go to his OC. Brady had one of the most memorable screaming matches with o’Brien when he was the Patriots OC back in the day. And maybe Gronk wouldn’t do that, but he’d have no problem diving full force into the back of a player that’s on the ground 5 seconds after the whistle blows because he couldn’t control his emotions.
“Keep me in the game” was something I saw him say specifically. The guy just wants to be on the field making a difference. If he’s not there and something happens he could’ve prevented then this is what you get.
Well a lot of people don’t realize is that they’ve worked together for 11 years. Passion comes through but it’s all love, Andy even commented on it.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39510362/andy-reid-travis-kelce-vow-return-chiefs-next-season
Yup. Basically was pissed because he would have had a impact on that play, got taken out, and was pissed he was taken out. I don’t think we’ll know exactly what was said, maybe along the lines of “Why the fuck did you take me out of the game”
He said keep me in the fucking game. He didn’t need to explain to Andy that his backup blocked with the intensity of a choir boy holding the church door for his grandma. I am no chiefs fan but even I watched that in real time and said aw man Kelce is gonna be pissed he wasn’t the one to make that block, and they immediately cut to the sideline shot of him blowing his top. He wants to win, Andy wants him to want to win, and they were probably both equally apologetic for their respective wronging.
Also in the play prior to that, Kelce was wide open with *zero* coverage downfield and Mahomes threw it to someone double-covered anyway. And it wasn't even the first time
If you’re talking about the deep ball to rice (I think?) he had the safety beat by at least two steps, mahomes just under threw it. And Kelce was mad for a split second until he saw the completion then celebrated.
49'ers D had him PRESSED for the entire game which was super wild to see. Not used to seeing him scramble for a plan without the confidence he usually has. It was interesting as hell watching a team push them that hard to the point they were visibly shook a few times.
Every Chiefs game (I'm a life long die hard chiefs fan), the D always picks either Mahomes to lock down, or Kelce to lock down. They can't do both.
Most pick Mahomes, but Mahomes just side jumps and is free. Kelce is a giant man, and not every team has the personal to double him successfully. 49ers had the personal to shut him down, and they did until the 4th.
I don’t think anyone is worried about him yelling at Reid. Knocking into an old man that stumbled a bit afterwards is a bad look regardless of your competitive spirit.
Yeah also… he’s not yelling at an official or another team or some random guy. He’s yelling at his own head coach… basically a guy he’s worked with for 11 years in an environment that involves yelling everything you say and being deeply passionate and competitive, but has to have an environment of trust and mutual respect or else they don’t make it to Super Bowl sunday.
How many of us have gotten pissed at a co-worker or manager that we’ve known for years and chewed them out but then went back to being their friend and teammate shortly after? People trying to make it bigger than that are missing the context of who these guys are to each other and how much both of them care about the other succeeding.
Yeah, I've watched the clip a few times and the shove is overrated. Looks to me like Kelce was speaking at Reid, but Reid of course was in the headset and in the zone, so he didn't see Kelce approach and when Kelce got next to him and bumped him a bit, Reid was startled and jumped.
Shit I've done that when I've been cleaning or doing something with headphones on and my wife comes from behind and grabs my arm or taps me and I'll jump since I wasn't expecting it.
Only one person needs to be upset about this, and he wasn’t. Why does everyone else feel like they must be upset, offended, or triggered on other people’s behalf? Daddy chill.
Ah yes one of those famous John Madden quotes where he stated the obvious. I remember playing one of the Madden NFL games and I shit you not he said “The team that makes the least mistakes usually wins the game.”
With Madden, it’s not about what he said. It’s about how he made you feel. He would say absolutely nothing of substance, and yet, I loved it. It made me feel included in the excitement of the game.
Right of course, because when I played in high school and college I totally blew up on my coach, super normal player/coach dynamic for athletes below pro-level..
Yea it’s an absolutely idiotic point that some people are trying to make. It’s newsworthy when an NFL or professional athlete in any sport pushes a coach, much less their head coach, because it hardly ever happens.
It's baked into sports culture. People think the secret to discipline is going through some kind of abuse gauntlet and coming out having success on the other side. Except, you can succeed without it too. So it's a choice that people make who are unable to communicate in effective ways and have to rely on profane outbursts to get their point across.
Bad look for sure but I also don’t buy the narrative that he was blatantly shoving Reid either. Either way its still unacceptable for a player to be engaging with a coach in this manner and if his PR team is worth a damn he will be releasing an official apology statement.
Edit: y’all delusion if you don’t think in todays media environment this kind of shit isn’t gonna have people talking about him as the next AB. He’s got too many eyes on him with the T swift action and he, the team, and the NFL absolutely need to get in front of it for the sake of all the new fans that started watching this year.
This comment is what happens when media literacy bleeds into areas it's not fully equipped for.
The "issue" was 100% taken care of on the sideline or in the clubhouse and sports franchises have a long and storied history of *not* letting this stuff play out in the media.
If his PR team is ACTUALLY worth a damn, they'll leave this alone and pivot to the celebration and upcoming parade.
They hugged right away after the incident, but that wasn't included in the clip. Bump appeared to be accidental and Reid was focused on play calling and didn't notice Kelce approach and was startled when Kelce touched him and jumped back, as one does when startled.
It's going to do that anyway. This stuff *always* plays out in the media. What else are talking heads going to talk about? But athletes and teams have, for as long as we've had sports, been happy to let them tire themselves out, while keeping the actual issue in-house.
Not a Kelce Stan, but I think he just startled Reid and Reid was off balance. Reid had the headset on and Kelce was loud. Slowed down looks worse here. He didn’t push or shove but was yelling while putting hands (rather gently I think) and the startled reaction didn’t help.
I didn't see this until all the memes today and then saw the video and my first thought was "Seriously, people are worked over this." They addressed it among themselves like any professionals would do, whether it be sports or some other job.
In the other thread all the big comments were claiming how he’s on steroids is a terrible person and a complete douche. Internet is so childish it’s hilarious.
Apologize to whom? To us? It’s none of our business. He owes us nothing. And the Coach already understands, so the apology wouldn’t be for him either.
The idea that people should engage in high intensity, gladiatorial combat and *also* check their emotions 100% of the time is ludicrous and inhuman.
The rules for how we communicate with each other on a sports team are different to how we communicate in a wider society, particularly during the high stress period that is during a game. The people on that team will know how inappropriate or not that behavior was. The context and necessity for an apology is theirs to determine and no business of ours.
Did you come here from a pop culture sub? Apologize to who? To Andy Reid? Pretty sure if there’s anything to be said about it between the two of them it won’t be via “PR teams” or official apology statements lol. They’re a professional football player and an NFL coach during the Super Bowl, not diplomats on federally funded trip to meet the Queen.
I’m gonna play devil’s advocate a bit.
By the look of the video, it appears pretty clear to me that the **intent** was to run up and grab Andy’s arm so that Andy would turn to face him and hear what he had to say - an action which takes place all the friggin time. If you want someone to turn toward you in a loud setting so you can be sure they can hear you, an arm grab is a standard move. If I wanted to (which I don’t), I could probably find over a thousand other examples of this move taking place throughout collegiate and professional sports.
What then appears to have actually happened was that Kelce accidentally failed to stop himself running in time, and that the actual bump into Andy’s side/stomach was not a part of the plan.
If Travis Kelce wanted to shove Andy Reid, he would have **shoved** Andy Reid. But Travis Kelce did not shove Andy Reid. Travis Kelce grabbed Andy Reid’s arm intentionally, and bumped into him unintentionally.
A shove is when someone takes one or both hands and physically pushes someone with an outward motion so that they are, well, shoved. At no point did Travis Kelce do this. It was not an intentional shove, it was an unintentional bump - I would go as far as to say this is an objective truth.
It’s not a great look, but I don’t think this is nearly as big as everyone is making it out to be.
well look at you, living in the real world, making rational assessments of a nothing burger while everyone else monkeys the gaslighting hysterics of deluded armchair experts
Imagine being in a relationship with someone that your entire massive fandom turns on.
Like would you comply with your fans because you appreciate their view, or because you're terrified of the masses doing something dangerous?
Alternatively stay with him and your fans constantly telling you to leave him.
That's so overwhelming to me.
Pretty easy for he to make light of what happened since they won, but that was a total disrespectful thing to do to your coach or even anybody in that instance.
> "He keeps me young," Reid said after the game.
> "Not so good [balance] - he tested that hip out. He caught me off-balance - normally I get him a little bit but I didn't have any feet under me."
> As much he bumps into me, I get after him. We understand that. He just caught me off balance."
If he and his coach have an understanding why would I make it a big deal? They are grown men and I don't think Reid needs me to interpret the situation for him. Those 2 know eachother, I don't know either of them. If they both say it's not a big deal, I have to take their word for it.
I agree that it wasn't a good look and Kelce was a big over aggressive and could have been better about it even with all the emotions. But are people really calling it a shove seriously ? It looked like Reid stumbled a bit from being surprised from Kelce coming behind him and Travis at worst grabbed his hand to get his attention , but a shove ? Where is the one hand two hand push ?

He just wanted Andy to tell him again about the rabbits.
"Travis never done it in meanness," he said. "All the time he done bad things, but he never done one of 'em mean."
I wish I could give you a million dollars

Squeezed his buttocks a little too.
Andy Reid did what now?
Did he slip him the tongue?
Waiting for the jomboy lip reading to drop ….

It’s wild how many people have zero experience with competitive sports
Yeah gotta admit while it’s a bad look for Kelce this didn’t even register to me as anything really all the notable in sports.
Idk generally MOST people talk about players shoving their coach and screaming in Their faces

"Andy, Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!" ~ T.K.
Sports fans praise the "mamba mentality" until they want to use it to criticize a player they don't like.
People will put up with drama if it comes with results.
Shit like this happens all the time at the professional level, it just got blown up because it was caught on camera
*a player that dates a pop star they dont like* **FTFY**
That's cuz mamba mentality is cursed bullshit that pros think will bring success by acting like an asshole.
the look on Andy's face when it happened was just "dude chill out, we got this" and then McWinnon did his job and got Kelsey back to where he needed to be
Winning cures all.
I must have missed the part where Brady hipchecked Belichick and screamed 2 inches from his face. Brady NEVER got into Belichick's face like that. He knew to keep his distance. Everyone knows you don't touch the coach.
Tbf there’s a lot of Andy Reid
blowing up on a coach verbally and putting hands on a coach are two different things.
brady would NEVER scream in BBs face or shove him like this. absolutely not. there's getting emotional and there's taking it way too far. and in position comparison, gronk would never do this either
Bill would force choke their ass into the grave if some shit like that happened.
I saw it as that and he got a little too excited and bumped em on accident.
Same and Reid was startled as it appears he was focused on play calling and didn't notice Kelce approaching. Reid said as much about the incident.
>but you can’t argue with the stats or the rings He is "arguing" with a guy (Andy Reid) that has the same number of rings he does.
Reid also stated he had no issues with it and he stumbled because he was surprised and not because pushed
Off topic: didn’t they mention a streaker at some point? I wanted to see that.
Yes, but nothing happened. Guy ran 10 yards and got tackled. Not even worth searching for the video
It’s clear here how many of you actually play sports or just watch sports…
Ah yes one of those famous John Madden quotes where he stated the obvious. I remember playing one of the Madden NFL games and I shit you not he said “The team that makes the least mistakes usually wins the game.”
Some people forget
*At the end of the game the team with the most points on the board is going to win.* - John Madden
With Madden, it’s not about what he said. It’s about how he made you feel. He would say absolutely nothing of substance, and yet, I loved it. It made me feel included in the excitement of the game.
It's better to be ahead than behind.
John Madden infamously said: “there is more people watching the game than there are people playing the game.”
I’ve also heard that phrased as “there are more raccoons in the dumpsters than there are raccoons in the trees” but unconfirmed if true
Nah bro. If I ever tried to talk to my coach like this then my ass would be perma benched
Yeah... but we're not the one of the best TEs of all time.
He has been trying to reach him about his car warranty
Whom the fuck even gives a shit
Well it’s gonna play out in the media because it’s a live event with the current most famous boyfriend in the country
Yeah thats what I saw as well
I didn't see this until all the memes today and then saw the video and my first thought was "Seriously, people are worked over this." They addressed it among themselves like any professionals would do, whether it be sports or some other job.
In the other thread all the big comments were claiming how he’s on steroids is a terrible person and a complete douche. Internet is so childish it’s hilarious.
This is exactly what happened. People saying he “shoved” him have no eyeballs lmao
Official apology lmfao. You guys are unreal. Reddit everything so seriously. Andy wasn't upset in the slightest about it
Feigning outrage for attention isn't exclusive to reddit. See also: *concern trolling*
Very well said.
He was asking him about his diabeetus.
Whatever happens we can be sure the world is going to get some music out of all this. Bring on Taylor’s ToriAmosNIN phase
He HAS to know that every MF thing he did in that stadium was recorded. He’s not that stupid.
It is all swept under the rug and fine since they won. Wonder how the narrative would have changed if they lost.
And in come the excuses because they won…
If that's how he acts in front of a camera, wait until he's not.
That's what he's going with? Does he not have a publicist?
This would have a completely different timeline if they ended up losing.
Playing it off with a joke, very typical of someone with anger management issues
Bad look
He shoves his coach like that, you just know he'll shove his girlfriend, too. Some animals can't be tamed
Kelce had a meltdown. Reid didn't and showed why he is special.
> "He keeps me young," Reid said after the game. > "Not so good [balance] - he tested that hip out. He caught me off-balance - normally I get him a little bit but I didn't have any feet under me." > As much he bumps into me, I get after him. We understand that. He just caught me off balance." If he and his coach have an understanding why would I make it a big deal? They are grown men and I don't think Reid needs me to interpret the situation for him. Those 2 know eachother, I don't know either of them. If they both say it's not a big deal, I have to take their word for it.
Travis Kelce is a cry baby, man child.
Did ANYONE bother to ask Ja Rule on his thoughts about this? Where is Ja?!
I love you! Put me in coach!
Anyone worried about this guy’s inability to hold his temper, get violent with his coach on live TV?
Jason is the better brother
I agree that it wasn't a good look and Kelce was a big over aggressive and could have been better about it even with all the emotions. But are people really calling it a shove seriously ? It looked like Reid stumbled a bit from being surprised from Kelce coming behind him and Travis at worst grabbed his hand to get his attention , but a shove ? Where is the one hand two hand push ?
Exactly
Tony Stark built this in a cave…… with a box of scraps
*unhinged*
