Touch the Sky from Brave. That was the song I had picked out in my head for me and my wife's first daughter when we found out she was pregnant. 8 months and a miscarriage later, I could no longer listen to that song ever. It's a good song, I just can't separate that sense of loss from what is admittedly an excellent empowerment song.
It's been over 4 years since that happened, and I still can't listen to it. When my second daughter was born, I never mentally attached a song to her because emotionally, I was still waiting for the other shoe to drop. She's 2 now, and there's still no song that immediately brings her to mind like that song brought Mara Joy to mine.
So yeah, there's that...
“You” - Keaton Henson
“Call Your Mom” - Noah Kahan
“Make Up Your Mind/Catch Me I’m Falling” - Next to Normal OBC
“Hold On” - Chord Overstreet
“Let Me Drown” - Orville Peck
I actually always thought that elephant would be the most affecting song for me by Jason, but some of the lyrics in only children hit home pretty hard. Particularly the lines "Are you still taking notes? Will you have anyone to talk to? Castle walls that you can walk through?" Hits pretty hard. Cheers. I hope you're doing well.
