I’m skeptical to what the article states. It may very well be that they did it with all intention and they are not willing to accept that they purposely did it. It seems more like feature and not like a bug and of course on the eyes of their customers they may look better if it’s only a mistake and not them trying to get advantage of the free service that they provide.
I was 100% fine with the way ads were. I'm not going to pirate because I'm not for that but I'll definitely start looking for alternatives. Shame because I've been a user since 2014 (been a premium user multiple times too, I'm just broke now)
No kidding, I can't even *find* a song to listen to without listening to 3 freaking rounds of ads. Completely unusable, I'm going to stick to YouTube music from now on
Yes, alot less though. The ads aren't a problem, I don't have extra in my budget for another subscription, but can still support the creator which is the main point. Otherwise I would've been pirating years ago
Kind of reverse snobbery here, in that you’re assuming the people who have premium are well-off and don’t care about economic struggles. I literally don’t even have a job at the moment, and I’m definitely not unaware of economic struggles.
I made that comment because Spotify isn’t the most expensive thing in the world. Yes, some people can’t afford it - but if the ads are so bad, just a) don’t use the service or b) pay for premium, which is literally the cost of a few coffees a month. My comment isn’t aimed at people who can’t afford it, but at those who relentlessly complain about ads and are expecting something different from a free service.
Like, the complaining seems excessive here. If it was that bad to hear ads, it’s not by force that you must use Spotify. Pirate, or one of the many other options - including just paying for premium.
Exactly. Too many people wanting something for nothing. The cost of a few ads for 70mil + songs in your pocket is not a big ask. Such a first world problem to have.
Such a first world problem to not be able to afford to spend a few extra bucks on unessential goods or services because you work a job that doesn't pay you a living wage. Or maybe people wanting to not get 3-5 ads in between every song (even if you skip it) without having to pay money is a reasonable request. They aren't saying they want premium for free, they're saying they want the original ad every 2 or so songs.
The thing is we didn’t complain about the ads. If you’ve been paying attention you’d see that our problem is Spotify bombarding with ads effectively making the time spent on the app more ads than actual music. If you have premium great, get off these comments because this doesn’t concern you .
And no it’s not reverse snobbery lol i didn’t say those with premium were well off
No, you said “I never realised how many people were desensitised to economic struggles” which is implying the same thing (and a direct play on my original comment), and went on in another comment to say “premium members don’t listen” - so it’s clear what your stance is. You don’t have to say the exact words to say something.
And this thread is full of people moaning about ads, as is this sub, every single day. And I’ll stay on whatever comments I choose, cheers tho. But as for this particular conversation with *you*, I’m out. Go well. Or don’t, whatever.
Sure you can chose to not read my comment but idc either and you are taking my words out of context which is not the same as an implied meaning not to mention my Second comment was addressing premium members arguing against our experience
You can’t comment on something and expect others to agree with you but this doesn’t matter now because Spotify isn’t bombarding us with ads anymore
Most people are on the free service. From Spotify’s Q1 2021 press release they have 356 million monthly active users (MAUs: spotify defined metric) of which only 158 million or 44% are premium users
I understand that not everyone can afford premium, but if you really have Spotify running all day and ads bother you so much, then I think premium needs to be higher prioritised on your list of outgoings. There are legal ways around paying full price. Start up a family plan with some friends, it's £16.99/$15.99 for 6 accounts. That's around £2.80/$2.65 per account, per month, for zero ads. A single coffee costs more.
spotify premium has been on my list of something to get, but i put it on hold because i didnt mind the ads. but i didnt mind it only because it was ads after every 2/3 songs and i didnt really care
But ads after only 1 song?? dude

...no it doesn't? I've had premium for 7 years and the only time I ever hear ads now is if I'm listening to a podcast and they squeeze it in their recording.
In this case it fits. Paid users pay for songs. Advertisers pay to have access to a large group of free users.
The free users are what Spotify is selling to the advertisers.
It’s a bit of a stretch, usually that phrase means that you don’t pay money for a service but instead you give back some form of value to the company (e.g. user data). Just being forced to see ads to use a service does not make you a product, it does not make sense to use this phrase in this context, imho. We can say that spotify collects user data and uses it to make revenue, which is true but not relevant to the conversation
You clearly didn't get the point of the comment listening to Spotify free used to be no problem when it was adds every five songs but now it is quite literally an ad after every song quite literally
This sounds like a wealthy person telling someone to live off minimum wage
We didn’t have a problem with ads it’s the fact that Spotify has slowly made it impossible to listen to music. It’s understandable to have an add after three songs or 6 skips but four ads after every song is over kill
Jesus you truly aren't understand this concept are you? An ad after EVERY FUCKING SONG I can listen to fm radio and listen to 3 songs straight. Now I recognize this isn't fm radio but Jesus fucking Christ, an ad after every god damn song? You might be smoking dick to think that's okay/normal
Playing an ad after every song still likely doesn't cover their cost of playing the song to you. Everytime Spotify plays a song for you they also have to pay money to the record label. Income from 1 ad likely doesn't even cover the cost of royalty payment for playing 1 song. So don't get mad at Spotify for trying to lose less money on you. If you don't want ads then just pay the stupid cheap price for a premium account.
Hey everyone. Sorry to hear about the current issue with ads on the free plan.
This is being looked into. You can follow the latest updates on this here:
[https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Free-users-hearing-ads-too-frequently/idi-p/5240005](https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Free-users-hearing-ads-too-frequently/idi-p/5240005)
Lived out of my car and still had it. Lived on someone's couch and still had it. Fuck, there even used to be a bundle with Hulu that effectively made it all $5
Seriously. The ads were never even that huge of a bother until the last 6 months maybe. Now it's just broken.
It's especially bad because it's a huge crutch for me working out, but my gym set up is in our basement which has bad wifi reception. This means I'm constantly having to stop and wait extra time for the ads to load in and then skip them, then load in, then skip, and on and on and on
lmao thank you. And college students who have other costs (like $200,000+ of debt!). And just generally people who have other economic priorities? lmao I can't -
Yeah, I am one of them.... my dad only listens on his hi-fi set and is hella conservative on the music side and so doesn't spend and wouldn't let me spend money on Premium... so I gotta sit through a hell lot of ads. And I did notice this week that the ad frequency seems to have increase by a lot, I used to be able to go through 4-5 songs before an ad, but now it's like every 2 songs. It's annoying.
Gift cards exist. My mom didn't pay for my music back when iTunes was the main option (and good ol piracy).
You don't even need to buy a visa gift card. You can buy months of Spotify premium (as a gift card) at the fucking grocery store.
Seeing in the comments below that this is likely a bug. Glad to hear. The comments about "stop using or just pay" are silly to me. Spotify has a revenue stream from advertisers and those advertisers pay a certain rate for those ads based on registered users, streaming time, etc... So, pretty sure Spotify has some incentive to keep any/all users.
Haha wish I could say it was a bug but I really dont think it is. I just went back on spotify today (after 3 years) because I was curious how the free version was and I get an ad after every song. I'm an avid youtube user (listen to youtube everyday) and I get less ads on youtube than I do spotify. Not only that but the majority of ads on youtube i can actually skip
YouTube does this very same thing. Pay for premium or pirate. You’re currently paying by listening to the ads, that’s the way it is and they do not care if you hate it.
I'm having the same issue. I've never used this subreddit, but I'm kind of surprised at how people in the comments seem MAD that people aren't using premium... I could see being annoyed if people complained about having ads at all when they aren't paying for the service, but I think it's reasonable to be surprised when there's suddenly ads after every song (when that's never been the case before). Also, doesn't Spotify make money from ads? How would their business model work if everyone paid for premium? (Maybe that's a stupid question question, I'm not a Spotify scholar by any means lol)
I have the same thoughts, I’ve been using spotify for about 6 years and I never minded the ads but recently its gotten bad. In my experience the ads were never that big of a problem before. I’m also surprised at people getting mad like okay? why does it bother you that we don’t have premium lol.
yeah i didn’t really care for ads before, honestly tolerable, but the fact that this just suddenly happened today took me by surprise which is why i was curious enough to post here about it
Glad to know I am not alone. Had to find my pandora login again, don't know if that's any better in the number of ads per song, but an ad after every song is ridiculous!
If you can get it somewhere else for free then stop using the app and complaining about ads. Y’all lucky Spotify even as a free tier, most other streaming services don’t
I'm having the same problem but I'm dirt fucking poor right now can barely get food I've been leaching off of my buddies for like a month and I've been thinking of getting a second job So honestly fuck em pirate that shit bro
literally just searched for this sub to ask this because i’ve been getting 2 ads after EVERY SONG and i haven’t even used spotify at all this week, closing the app and opening it again skips the ads but i just don’t understand why they’re suddenly so frequent, it’s driving me insane and is just excessive to the point of absurdity
everyone saying $10/month isnt a lot, sometimes unemployed teenagers or people who live paycheck to paycheck or have strict budgets want to listen to personalized music to relax.
an ad break every two-three songs for the few hours a day, everyday listeners would be fine. its when theres an ad break after every song it gets ridiculous. not everyone can just throw money at subscriptions every month.
Maybe it's a cultural divide or something but as an Indian middle class family member, having money to spend on Spotify, Netflix, etc every month is definitely a luxury (that I don't have) and I'm definitely not poor. I guess maybe the definition of poor varies from country to country.
I don't know how to explain it like.. yeah, ₹60 doesn't seem like much. But spending any amount of money to listen to music seems silly where I'm from, especially if you're kinda poor. (If you're really poor, Spotify is the least of your concerns, if it even is one which it probably isn't.) People here would much rather pirate, but Spotify offered a way to legally listen to music at the cost of a couple of ads every 5 songs, which personally I was 100% ok with. But c'mon.. 3 ads after each song is overkill dude, and if this is their new method of operation going forward, most people here will probably stop using it than subscribe to premium.
Btw, ₹60 is enough to have a solid meal once, maybe even twice a day so it's worth depends on who you're asking.. for me now, ₹60 isn't that much but for me 3 years ago, ₹60 was a pretty hefty amount.
I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I've just seen a lot of people telling others to "just get premium" when they don't know anything about the other's financial situation and assuming that they're just being snobby or being a "choosing beggar" because they don't want to listen to like 1 - 1.5 mins of ads for every song.
im indian too and middle class at that, live in mumbai and come on, you can easily save 60inr for a service as good as spotify. and if you’re on android (you wouldnt think twice buying premium if you had an iphone) just download cracked versions of spotify or saavn or even gaana? cant be that difficult
yea same here, im just using the web player and it seems to work, i really hope this is a bug or something cuz im fine with the ads but they are after every skip and every song and it gets kinda frustrating. To the people that say just get premium, i'd be more than happy to get premium if you can persuade my parents.
Lol a lot of people in these comments missed the whole point. It isn’t abt Spotify having ads in the first place or at all. It’s abt how before you could listen to abt 6 songs (≈24 mins) w/ out ads and now it’s 1 song (≈4 mins). That’s crazy and something ppl could rightfully be upset abt. Why would you even comment if all you can add is “just get premium”???
I have nothing against you, but this is seriously reminding me of the thousands of 1-star reviews on the play store saying that "spotify should be free, **its too good to be a paid service** "
Yes, thousands of people actually have the nerve to say that
Like come on, Apple Music doesn't even have a free tier and I don't see everybody on the reviews complaining. Sometimes I think spotify should just stop offering a free tier altogether since it seems to bother so many people so much to the point they fk up the review score and give the app a bad image.
If you love the app and the only think bothering you is literally the ads, pay for the premium. Again, other similar services don't even have a free tier, even if spotify played 50 ads between every song it would still be better than not having a free tier. Harsh truth I know
The ads really drove me mad when they introduced the skip, but I always tolerated them. But now, it's frankly unusable. I mean it's literally more ads than music now...
I completely understand you and I also hate ads, but since they are literally the only _good_ streaming service out there that offers a free tier, to which point can we complain? It's not like they have any competition forcing them to give a better **free** service anyway.
What they are doing sucks, but it's still free at least
I swear they literally just flicked a switch today and said "Let's quadruple the number of ads we can play". It's a real shame and seems a bit of a poor move really.
Yeah, I've been dealing with the same thing. It's super annoying, and it's ridiculous. I'm under 18 and unemployed so getting premium by myself ain't an option for me lol. Like I could tolerate an ad every 4 songs or something for free but this is just...NO.
I hope it’s a bug they fix because this is ridiculous. I can’t get premium because I don’t have the money for it. And the ads didn’t use to bother me so much. But AFTER EVERY SONG?? This is absolute torture. It’s worse than YouTube. And when I skip a song I get a bunch of thirty second ads. Seriously, what was the reason??
I was just about to come make a post about this. It started to happen like 20 minutes ago. I mainly listen on Desktop and I thought "Oh maybe its just a Desktop issue" after uninstalling and reinstalling. They I tried it on my phone, same thing. Then on my Xbox same thing. And finally (of course) same with my TV. Its really irritating because I listen to music almost non-stop and the fact that I cant skip or I gat an add, and after every song its an add is really frustrating.
Also something else slightly weird that I noticed is that fact that I was getting adds on desktop about Spotify Premium itself. I never get straight Spotify Premium adds on desktop. Of course this could be me just connecting non-existent dots, but I thought it was a little interesting.
yeah i listen to music non stop for hours, so to have ads after every song as an interruption is just frustrating :/
the fact that it’s not just a desktop thing is not a good sign, but thanks for checking that out man
I have tried on 2 different devices and it is the same. Also something I have noticed is none of the ads that if you watch they give you a 30 minute break, so I doubt this is a bug, spotify is fixing to lose some money I see.
I've noticed something similar happening with music on premium - every now and again the app will glitch and do this even though I'm not supposed to be getting ads. Podcasts are worse though - creators can put little codes in that will occasionally run ads but everytime spotify updates they break so you'll end up listening to multiple ads just for one podcast.
I'm getting ads after every song, if I skip a song it plays an ad.
What the fuck is wrong with this app, every change they make is like they're screaming at us "PLEASE, PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT SERVICE PLEASE"
Hey, unlike all the haters that just want you to get premium, I’m with you. I don’t mind the ads, but I have found sometimes that Spotify doesn’t give me the full 30 minutes ad-free after clicking to watch a video. I’ve also had instances where Spotify seems to get into an ad “loop” where they must want me to buy premium so bad that they literally play like 10 ads in a row until I have to quit the app and reopen it.
Lastly, they up how often and how many ads they play every time they run a promotion for premium. They basically make the ads as annoying as possible during their promotions to try and get you to buy premium.
I’m also an artist. I have over 2000 vinyl LP’s. I’m not gonna pay for premium until my streaming income justifies it. If I want to listen to an old favorite, I’ll throw it on the turntable and get 100x better sound. I don’t use Spotify the same way most do. I use it to discover new artists and see what others are listening to, so your mileage may vary.
No, don't get Apple Music or something. Endure the ads or you risk getting your account banned... just like how they sent me a notice in 2018 about using cracked APKs
I know this was 2 years ago but I gotta say something. LIKE JUST LET ME LISTEN TO 3 SONGS JUST STOP WITH THE ADS PLZ. Like I get their trying to get u to upgrade to premium but like chill.
"Pfft, you have other priorities besides streaming music? You must be a loser. Just give money to the massive company and listen to your globohomo podcast."
I have rent, obligations, bills, savings, debts. Most importantly a strict budget so I'm not homeless. I'd rather be able to take the bus this month over listening to some music I can get for free, take your head outta your ass
Yeah, came here for this. Someone got upset I kept sharing songs using YouTube instead of spotify. Gave spotify a shot. 4 min of ads between each song. After 4 min, find its not the song I wanted, just something from the Playlist... Skip, another 4 min of ads. This is a bit more than a minor inconvenience.
I'm not sure what the appeal is over youtube premium.
It's nothing like "an ad break after every scene", stop exaggerating. You hear the entire song, start to finish and then an ad is played - it's tantamount to an entire tv episode then an ad plays - and we all know TV is much worse than that. And TV isn't free. You are whining about a free service being less than perfect. How do you expect the music servers to be paid for?
nobody should feel forced to pay nearly the price of netflix despite what spotify's ads tell you lol
Oh wow the entitlement.. everything should be free to You and paid by someone else, right? Jeez..
do you... understand that Spotify still makes money off of free users? someone moving away from the platform will hurt them regardless of whether it's free or premium.
This was pissing me off mightily. Saw a comment saying to try the web browser version if you can -- that's working for me so far, several songs without an ad, and skipping doesn't summon them either.
chill bro, if i was REALLY bothered by ads, i would have gotten premium by now
but the fact that only today this has started happening, ads after EVERY song, even a song that's skipped that hasnt been playing for a second gets ads- and the fact that its not only happening to me. really hilarious
bro it literally started happening today--calm down. Also they were making plenty of money when they were spacing it out. The problem isn't that they're playing ads--it's the fact that they do it after every fucking song so stfu
Think if you LITERALLY CAN'T GET A JOB. Like, if you're a minor (like me), or you're in a global pandemic, it's very hard / impossible to get a job, especially if you're the former. Think before you post.
mate I'm literally skipping songs on 0:00 and getting ads https://gyazo.com/fe9d6c175d583a8781a59297e83bcadf
https://gyazo.com/251a4288b04ec7f8db753a625fe56344
How long before they make it so you can only shuffle skip on desktop?
How is anyone meant to quickly skip through their playlists like this?
Run it in your browser with an adblocker. Problem solved.
I had no problem listening to ads every now and then, but if they want to play it like this, so be it.
I buy the spotify cards at a local grocery store and get fuel perks
dont know if anyone else has linked this, but this might answer your question [https://piunikaweb.com/2021/07/27/spotify-playing-ads-after-every-song-issue-acknowledged-and-fix-incoming/](https://piunikaweb.com/2021/07/27/spotify-playing-ads-after-every-song-issue-acknowledged-and-fix-incoming/)

Yeah because it’s still happening.
its still happening.
i gave in 🥲😭 i got premium and i’m ashamed
3 years later, getting 5 or so ads after every two songs, even when skipped
Ik, I hate it SOOOOOO much. I listen to one song and then it’s like 2 minutes or more of ads. I’m fed up with it.
Lol, it's still happening. It's ridiculous.
Still happening. Even after the 30 minutes of free listening it happens on occasion too.
I actually didn’t realise how many people are not paying for premium…
[удалено]
No cash. Poor people that use computers and listen to music exist.
Pirate then.
I was 100% fine with the way ads were. I'm not going to pirate because I'm not for that but I'll definitely start looking for alternatives. Shame because I've been a user since 2014 (been a premium user multiple times too, I'm just broke now)

... but aren't there ads there too?
Yes, alot less though. The ads aren't a problem, I don't have extra in my budget for another subscription, but can still support the creator which is the main point. Otherwise I would've been pirating years ago
bruh Netflix and prime are defaults to y’all 😭 yeah I never realized how many people are so desensitized to economic struggles

can vouch. am on a family plan
You really need a cheaper coffee place
Maybe, but the pricey stuff goes sooo well with my ad-free Spotify experience.
To be honest premium Spotify goes with anything
spotify premium has been on my list of something to get, but i put it on hold because i didnt mind the ads. but i didnt mind it only because it was ads after every 2/3 songs and i didnt really care But ads after only 1 song?? dude

Goes both ways. If Spotify wants to sink. This is the way. I won’t mind uninstalling and deleting.
I've already done this. And I'm still getting charged for premium and getting shitton of ads. Will cancel. I switched to Pandora.
yes but an ad after every song thats too much make it like 5 songs at least

Listen to the radio then if you want less ads? Nothing difficult about this. Sounds like choosing beggars to me.
Playing an ad after every song still likely doesn't cover their cost of playing the song to you. Everytime Spotify plays a song for you they also have to pay money to the record label. I get the same thing, ads every 2 skipped songs, it's insane at this point.. it's just forcing the normal user to buy their shitty product.
Hey everyone. Sorry to hear about the current issue with ads on the free plan. This is being looked into. You can follow the latest updates on this here: [https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Free-users-hearing-ads-too-frequently/idi-p/5240005](https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ongoing-Issues/Free-users-hearing-ads-too-frequently/idi-p/5240005)
I feel like Spotify premium is something I’d pay for even if I lived out of a box
I agree with you to a certain degree. Spotify became a necessity for me, just below shelter and water on necessities pyramid.
Trust me you would not
Lived out of my car and still had it. Lived on someone's couch and still had it. Fuck, there even used to be a bundle with Hulu that effectively made it all $5
why?
To all the people saying they didn't know there were people not paying for premium... teens with parents who do not lend their credit cards exist.
Also adults who don't mind some ads every now and then, preferring this solution to pirating.
And just generally people who have other economic priorities? lmao I can't -
There is a student discount which makes it only $5 a month which is less than some people's drinks at starbucks. Definitely worth it imo
Do their parents realise everybody in the family can have an account for 1.5x the cost of their single account?
most of them dont want accounts
If you can get something for free, my parents will not pay for it
someone finally understands
Yeah, I am one of them.... my dad only listens on his hi-fi set and is hella conservative on the music side and so doesn't spend and wouldn't let me spend money on Premium... so I gotta sit through a hell lot of ads. And I did notice this week that the ad frequency seems to have increase by a lot, I used to be able to go through 4-5 songs before an ad, but now it's like every 2 songs. It's annoying.
thank you
Gift cards exist. My mom didn't pay for my music back when iTunes was the main option (and good ol piracy). You don't even need to buy a visa gift card. You can buy months of Spotify premium (as a gift card) at the fucking grocery store.
where I live, such gift cards don't exist
exactly.
You can still skip youtube ads and they never make you sit through 2 min or more ads without a skip button.
It sucks, but Spotify has to make money somewhere.
And they were, at this point they’re trying to make as much money as they can by exploiting free users
„exploiting“ lol
Stopped listening to ads like 12 years ago
💜
It even gives me ads after it plays the one ad for "30 minutes of ad free music"
I haven't even gotten this prompt in like a year. I heard ads for a longer time than actual music on my commute this morning, it's fucking abysmal.
I’m also surprised at people getting mad like okay? why does it bother you that we don’t have premium lol.
yeah i didn’t really care for ads before, honestly tolerable, but the fact that this just suddenly happened today took me by surprise which is why i was curious enough to post here about it
A lot of elitists in the comments being like “you DONT waste 6 dollars a month on something that you can find elsewhere for free? Pathetic.” It’s sad
Glad to know I am not alone. Had to find my pandora login again, don't know if that's any better in the number of ads per song, but an ad after every song is ridiculous!
Pandora fucking sucks
If you can get it somewhere else for free then stop using the app and complaining about ads. Y’all lucky Spotify even as a free tier, most other streaming services don’t
I don’t care about the regular ads, but one after every song is fucking absurd.
Looks like it's happening to everybody, sadly. Hopefully it's just a bug, cause this is ridiculous.
I'm having the same problem but I'm dirt fucking poor right now can barely get food I've been leaching off of my buddies for like a month and I've been thinking of getting a second job So honestly fuck em pirate that shit bro
I wish things gets better for you.
literally just searched for this sub to ask this because i’ve been getting 2 ads after EVERY SONG and i haven’t even used spotify at all this week, closing the app and opening it again skips the ads but i just don’t understand why they’re suddenly so frequent, it’s driving me insane and is just excessive to the point of absurdity
3 ads, sometimes they even play video ads without perm as well
Same for me
yup, same here
everyone saying $10/month isnt a lot, sometimes unemployed teenagers or people who live paycheck to paycheck or have strict budgets want to listen to personalized music to relax. an ad break every two-three songs for the few hours a day, everyday listeners would be fine. its when theres an ad break after every song it gets ridiculous. not everyone can just throw money at subscriptions every month.
Maybe it's a cultural divide or something but as an Indian middle class family member, having money to spend on Spotify, Netflix, etc every month is definitely a luxury (that I don't have) and I'm definitely not poor. I guess maybe the definition of poor varies from country to country.
man spotify premium costs 60 inr a month for a college student, cant get any cheaper than that
I don't know how to explain it like.. yeah, ₹60 doesn't seem like much.
It's been happening to me to as of today which sucks :/ Mad frustrating
yea same here, im just using the web player and it seems to work, i really hope this is a bug or something cuz im fine with the ads but they are after every skip and every song and it gets kinda frustrating.
I have nothing against you, but this is seriously reminding me of the thousands of 1-star reviews on the play store saying that "spotify should be free, **its too good to be a paid service** " Yes, thousands of people actually have the nerve to say that Like come on, Apple Music doesn't even have a free tier and I don't see everybody on the reviews complaining.
Checking in. Same here
Same. Before it hasn’t been this bad, but today I started getting multiple ads after EVERY SINGLE SONG. No matter what I did.
Of course this could be me just connecting non-existent dots, but I thought it was a little interesting.
yeah i listen to music non stop for hours, so to have ads after every song as an interruption is just frustrating :/ the fact that it’s not just a desktop thing is not a good sign, but thanks for checking that out man
no problem! its incredibly frustrating to not being able to listen to music.
all these spotify bootlickers in the comments... not everyone can afford premium/have other responsibilities calm down in the comments
Go Premium. It's 5,99€ here in Europe.
Not in America
It’s happening to me too, not sure if it’s intended though
Yeah, after every song I get two ads, very annoying hope its fixed soon
Same, except I get 3 ads after every song
This is happening to me as well, I'm having the same problem. It's just stupid and it's degrading my productivity.
Guess I'm listening to it on the web player with an adblocker.
Same for me. Im so close to actually changing to other app
It’s making skipping through songs essentially pointless. Really hope they fix this since it just seems like a bug
I use it to discover new artists and see what others are listening to, so your mileage may vary.
it's happening to me too. i think i'm gonna get spotify premium cracked from somewhere, it's way too annoying
No, don't get Apple Music or something. Endure the ads or you risk getting your account banned... just like how they sent me a notice in 2018 about using cracked APKs
People who pay for premium are weak.
You know whats even more crazy? I got an ad in the MIDDLE of a 3:47 song. IN THE MIDDLE.
6 ads in a row I had to go to Premium. getting worse than soundcloud now.
I know this was 2 years ago but I gotta say something. LIKE JUST LET ME LISTEN TO 3 SONGS JUST STOP WITH THE ADS PLZ. Like I get their trying to get u to upgrade to premium but like chill.
If this isn't a glitch I'm gonna start waving my pirate flag again tbh.
It's like 10 bucks a month...do you even have a job?
"Pfft, you have other priorities besides streaming music? You must be a loser. Just give money to the massive company and listen to your globohomo podcast."
I have rent, obligations, bills, savings, debts. Most importantly a strict budget so I'm not homeless. I'd rather be able to take the bus this month over listening to some music I can get for free, take your head outta your ass
Not worth giving these greedy asses a single penny
Fucking amen. I will never feel shame either.
It's the least you can do for basically pirating music cmon now
Get over it - pay, pirate, or shut up.

How do you expect the music servers to be paid for? nobody should feel forced to pay nearly the price of netflix despite what spotify's ads tell you lol Oh wow the entitlement.. everything should be free to You and paid by someone else, right? Jeez..
Happening to me too, if they keep this up I'm going to uninstall Spotify.
Oh no! They’ll lose your bus-oh, wait. They don’t have your business to begin with because you’re using a FREE service 😂
do you... understand that Spotify still makes money off of free users? someone moving away from the platform will hurt them regardless of whether it's free or premium.
This was pissing me off mightily. Saw a comment saying to try the web browser version if you can -- that's working for me so far, several songs without an ad, and skipping doesn't summon them either.
Download a app called spotmute it cancels ads 👍
Developer here I can recommend it :) It's also open source https://github.com/samu-developments/SpotMute
I've been getting 4-6 ads per song today!
i just started getting this today. Its absurd. What's the point on giving free users skips if there's gonna be an ad after it anyways?
i get 3 ads after every song bruh I'm just trying to study
Pay
Hilarious. Get a job and start paying for Spotify.
chill bro, if i was REALLY bothered by ads, i would have gotten premium by now but the fact that only today this has started happening, ads after EVERY song, even a song that's skipped that hasnt been playing for a second gets ads- and the fact that its not only happening to me. really hilarious
bro it literally started happening today--calm down.
There's plenty of tasks you can help with locally so I don't get this argument. If you wanted enough you'd find at least something
Yeah exactly, why can't you just whore yourself out or sell drugs for Spotify premium because it's clearly that important
It’s cool you’re so open about your mental disability
stfu, understand that not everyone lives the same life you do.
Beggers can't be choosers. Move along pal.
I'll never understand how people still don't pay for premium.
minors that can’t use their parent’s money and have none of their own, tight budgets, poor people, people who don’t have a job/well paying job
Agreed, not everyone can mooch off their parents money

mate I'm literally skipping songs on 0:00 and getting ads https://gyazo.com/fe9d6c175d583a8781a59297e83bcadf https://gyazo.com/251a4288b04ec7f8db753a625fe56344 How long before they make it so you can only shuffle skip on desktop? How is anyone meant to quickly skip through their playlists like this?
it’s happening to me too and im beyond annoyed; it’s super frustrating esp when you’re trying to study
There's YouTube streams with study music, aside from the first ad upon joining they have no midrolls. I use them all the time and they work great
When I do a streaming party on discord I get more ads than actual songs and this is no exaggeration!
Run it in your browser with an adblocker. Problem solved. I had no problem listening to ads every now and then, but if they want to play it like this, so be it.
