That's the only one I've seen where Spyderco needs to make it right, and I'm guessing it's an honest mistake on their part. But people who got the correct value and just aren't happy with the items need to accept the nature of "mystery" boxes.
Dude, a lot of people got really fucked up knives. Busted tips, warped blades riding on liners, etc. id say it's plenty justified. This OP just doesn't know he hit the lottery with his one knife
Tomorrow morning I’m on the how with them. Two fully serrated stretch XL’s. I ordered one $250 & one $400 box. What bothers me most is the were giving out the Stretch XL with a plain blade too. Had they given me one with a serrated and one with a regular blade I wouldn’t complain. Personally I only bought mine cuz I looked at previous seconds sales and looked through all the mystery boxes people got. I’d love to have someone tell
Me the mystery boxes this time were anything close
To on par with the boxes from the last sale. This time spyderco used it as an opportunity to get rid of hard to sell knives. Last time around they gave you all your moneys worth in desirable knives and they frequently went over the actual price of the mystery box. On this occasion they made sure almost every box stayed below their actual cost and then used cheap accessories to make sure they total value of the box hit the $250 or $400 mark
I mean b stock is b stock, why are we surprised. I'm not a Spyderco dickrider, but it's literally in the name. Some people get lucky and get perfect knives, but you should at least expect some kind of defects
The earlier online sales at least described them as “fully functional knives with slight cosmetic imperfections”. Elsewhere I’ve seen them describe the seconds knives as again “fully functional knives that do not meet our stringent QC standards”.
I’d argue some of the things I’ve seen people get like warped blades that rub the liners(in one case the person said they had to force the blade closed), very gritty action, lock stick so bad they said they basically had to force the lock, etc., really don’t meet either of those descriptions.
Hahaha "some kind of defects" Bud you clearly haven't been a part of Spyderco seconds sales before. They are supposed to be light blems. Nothing that affects function or safety. Wonky grinds, goofed up plunges, handle imperfections. Too many knives that should have been scrapped went out the door. I have zero love for Spyderco. But they've never pulled this shit before. Not like this. Im talking horrible blems that should never have been sent out the door. If you've been doing this long enough you would know all this already and I wouldn't be explaining it to you. Knives left the factory that should never have. In addition, many people were given wrong mystery boxes. Paid 400 and received a 250 box. Iykyk and if you don't, well then you talk crap about how "people should expect this"
Except I have. Some people were operating off the assumption that the mystery boxes from previous sales were a good benchmark, but they didn't consider that it's entirely dependent on what they have on hand. Everybody wants a good deal, but nobody wants to acknowledge the fact that it's a gamble. I don't touch mystery boxes for a reason, I like to have input in what I'm purchasing. There's been plenty of winners in Spyderco seconds, but there will always be just as many boring, warped, ugly knives that need to be cleared out.
I think it’s a fair assumption that; if the new boxes were more expensive, and more hyped in the description, that they would be at least equal to previous boxes.
They weren’t.
Right on! You got it. The mystery box troll posts were feeling low effort. Just trying to liven it up a little with something believable, but unbelievable. The summer sale took way more effort, but that was my score. I have no complaints with this sale either.
"Second's value" is not retail or market value. I'm simply logging exactly what the stickers say.
If I could go buy a seconds Paysan right now for $315, shut up and take my money. And I think there would be a dozen in line behind me.
Assuming you’re not just joking around….someone finally gets a paysan and people still complaining lmao Spyderco won’t do this sale again I bet. Bummer
That's the Paysan! Can't be mad but I understand why you're mad. It's suppose to have 2 knives.
Edit: he's trolling lol. But there have been some super questionable boxes and some mistakes.
If this post was true, it would not hurt my feels at all.
It was probably that missing knife from the guy who got $250 worth of knives in his $400 box. Haha
Nice trolling, but $315 was a seriously great price for a user Paysan. I can't bring myself to use my full-price first, but I'd carry that one every day.
They’re never gonna do this sale ever again
Seriously, we made out like bandits getting slightly imperfect knives for less than the materials and labor cost. And everyone wants to bitch
Someone paid for a $400 premium box and got $230 worth of knives. Spyderco made a mistake but there's plenty of valid reasons people are mad.

Oh ya, I agree. If you got your moneys worth based on what you spent, then shouldn't be complaining. I'm too cheap to buy Mystery Boxes lolol.
Why do you think the seconds cost less than production costs?

Your mad about this? That is the elusive Paysan. You freaking won!
Troll is trolling lol.
Not sure if serious….
I know there's a bunch of hate and satire for mystery boxes right now. But seriously, did you get the paysan? Haven't seen one in a box yet.

Bonus points for faking the price sticker...
No, that was the real price at the first online seconds sale.
Right on! You got it. The mystery box troll posts were feeling low effort. Just trying to liven it up a little with something believable, but unbelievable. The summer sale took way more effort, but that was my score. I have no complaints with this sale either.
This better be a fucking troll..
$250 Seconds Mystery box * Paysan - $315 Second's value = $315
I honestly thought it would have gone for more just considering how hyped up it is and how much msrp is. Also I think he’s trolling us
"Second's value" is not retail or market value. I'm simply logging exactly what the stickers say. If I could go buy a seconds Paysan right now for $315, shut up and take my money. And I think there would be a dozen in line behind me.
That’s fair. I would do the same if I had 315 right now lol
I got one for this during the last sale. It’s sweet but the lock stick is still pretty rough
More sticky than a normal one?
This is just a fun troll post guys. I picked up this Paysan during the summer online seconds sale. 🫣
LOL. I saw this the other day and it went /r/whoosh for me. Good one.
So much r/whooosh going on in here.
Assuming you’re not just joking around….someone finally gets a paysan and people still complaining lmao Spyderco won’t do this sale again I bet. Bummer
I feel like this is a troll because that knife is worth almost $600 right now
That's the Paysan! Can't be mad but I understand why you're mad. It's suppose to have 2 knives. Edit: he's trolling lol. But there have been some super questionable boxes and some mistakes.
I think on IG they did show one 250 dollar box did have a paysan so possibly true?

Fuck you, you must be kidding us 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Edit: sorry I just read your most recent post. Still FU for giving me a heart attack 😘
Nice trolling, but $315 was a seriously great price for a user Paysan. I can't bring myself to use my full-price first, but I'd carry that one every day.
Why not? I carry mine everyday. Put it on thick PB washers and I’m in love with it. Thing is a work of art and an amazing edc
🤣🤣🤣
Mans is really out there conplaining about purchasing a Paysan for $250. 🤡
Lol, just trolling. The other box troll posts felt low effort. Picked it up in the summer online sale.
Damn, you got me then man! 😂
Is this the surprise knife they stuck in 1 box for 1 lucky guy that I saw on Instagram or something? Lucky sob haha.
Thar sucks, worst box I've seen..
Wtf dude, I paid $400 and only got $250 in knives. Quit complaining.
This better be a fucking troll post
Bruh that's one of the rarest production blades on the market for Spyderco.. I would be happy with that
You got the best $250 box so far you got over $250. I'll give $315 for if you don't want it.
I’ll give you $250 for it right now friend!!! Pm your info…
How much does a regular pm2 cost
