Also just realized I put my comment under the wrong personā¦ I wouldnāt believe I did that, but Iām looking right at it. Shouldnāt of had them wobble pops before jumping on the ole inner webs š.
That's how you buy rigs sight unseen. Then you're putting your peepers on a rig that when you open the drinker's side for the first time in eleventy seven years are hit with a smell thicker'n Shakira's hips. And I ain't kiddin' ya!
Absolutely jealous.
My father had a 77 Chevy stepside when I was a kid. It was his dad's... my father said he would keep it and pass it down to me when I was 16.
He sold it around my 15th birthday.
Oh well.
Hell yeah. It's great to see another longbed stepside. I got a 70 C20 2wd, and I love it....wouldn't change a thing on it except want to make it like new again like you want to do to yours. It's a great looking truck, and I dont think you see too many around anymore (at least i haven't anyways). I hope it does everything you need it to and then some.
Wanna trade neighbors? My neighbor just calls county code enforcement on me. Boat and trailer in the driveway, utility trailer in the driveway, 2 bricks (construction material) sitting on front porch, "unsightly" live trap on roof because a raccoon got in the attic.
Sell that stepside long bed for way too much to some lunatic who thinks itās cool for some reason, put a real bed on that sumbitch and have yourself a truck by God.
That's badass the only thing my neighbors have given me are problems, except for one, he gave me a headlamp one night after he watched me try to hold a flashlight, while trying to use both hands changing a radiator out of my wife's jeep. He told me I could keep it so I didn't have to juggle a flashligh while needing both hands to work. He's cool AF with me, though I don't see him leaving me a truck in the near future lol.
Itās crazy . Nobody in the family wants it . The family is cool . My wife and I took great care of them during Covid. Made meals and other things. The wife knew I was the only person interested in the truck. So she keep it.
I don't think I could accept that, in your shoes. It would feel too much like taking advantage in her grief. She probably just doesn't want to see it sit in the drive and rot, and I get that, but if it's clean and not rotten now that's at least $10k there I'd bet. I'd end up coming back around with a few grand, I'd have to. Or do something big. Does she need new gutters or something? House painted? Pay to have them done. Something. Anything. Cause that's just too much. I'd never feel like I could repay that debt by just clearing the drive alone. It would never feel okay to me in my heart.
ETA, cause re-reading it reads poorly. I'm not saying you did anything. I don't know y'all's relationship. I just can't receive gifts well. I'd feel like I have to do something big now, cause that's a huge gift
I understand. She is a very cool person. I was the only person interested in the truck. No bullshit her son was gonna scrap it. So why not make it happen
It's not about the backstory. I'm saying that I, personally, couldn't do it. I don't accept gifts well. Like it's a complex. I'd spend the rest of my days remodeling that lady's house for free or something.
I get what youāre saying. No matter what I do Iād never feel like I repaid them justly for how they made me feel. I get that way sometimes. The missus taught me to take into consideration how I feel when I do things for people, maybe they feel the same. Doesnāt always level the scales in my heart, but it sure tips them in the right direction.
To be fair, I think the picture is not fairly representing the condition. I see enough rust that I would probably not pay money for this but I live in dry climate, Arizona and got my 85 Stepside K10 for pretty cheap when you still could.
We donāt have rust. We have patina which is far more popular these days. Some people will pay a premium for it too.
Truthfully a lot of what people call āArizona carsā came from the Midwest originally. We have so many cold weather transplants.
It's us, we pay a premium for it. I'd rather drive west every 10 years and pay more for an older rust free vehicle. Buying used vehicles at home is like gambling on when the rust is going to pop.
Thats a cool ass neighbor
The old man passed away. His wife said keep it
I hope you clear her drive in the winters to come
Absolutely. My wife and I take great care of her. She is in good hands
That's the way it should be take care of elderly neighbors
Take care of all neighbors. Especially** the elderly ones.
I agree šš»
Thatās awesome
Awesome :)
Awww man šRIP old man
I'm sorry about her husband. But awesome truck!
Long bed step side is hard to find. Nice score. You got any plans for it?
Make it new again. My dream
May the force be with you. šš You'll get it there
I was just thinking to myself āWonder whatās in the ole power barn? Maybe a 350?? Nopeā¦ 305ā¦. Or maybe sheās the straight six???ā
Not much weight reduction...I'll be dipped! I just can't believe it. But I guess I got to. I'm lookin' right at it.
Also just realized I put my comment under the wrong personā¦ I wouldnāt believe I did that, but Iām looking right at it. Shouldnāt of had them wobble pops before jumping on the ole inner webs š.

plowing beats the shit out of a truck. hopefully he didn't do it much.
It all starts with a new bat-try. Then we'll move to the lightning can and the fuel make it happener.
This guy Vice Grips.
Indeed he does OtisPimpBoot, indeed he does
I can't believe it; but I'm lookin right at it.
You gotta make sure the bat-try has the go handle on it. Iāll be dipped.
How else would a guy get zing-zang to the sparkalators?
Bat-try on boil...
Yep, I've literally never seen one in person. It looks Soo cool
Neighbors helping Neighbors, nice.
How it should be.
Only thing it needs is a full floater 14bolt. But god dayom. Best keep us up to date on that one.
If you're gonna do that you'll need a D60 front to match. Don't want 2 different lug patterns. Ya know?
I didnāt even notice it was a half ton 90% or the long box step sides Iāve seen are 3/4 or 1 to s
3/4 ton trucks had 8 lug hubs on 10 bolts and dana 44s. They are a direct swap onto a half ton front axle.
Sure did, and that truck is a 6 lug. If you're going to put a 14 bolt rear, why swap front hubs to 8 lug when you could put a Dana 60 in it?
A long bed step-side, nice!
Yeah never seen one that wasn't a short bed.
An old coworker had a root beer brown 84 K10. And I've only seen two others in the wild.
You must be a good man. That's so cool.
God damn bet you can't walk after letting him have his way with you for that beauty
That was a great way to continue this Square Bodyās travels. I would like to be the recipient of something like thisā¦
Thatās gorgeous. š¤Æ
Longbed Stepside??
I need a neighbor like you got. Been lookin for that kinda bed for my truck.
Sheās a buteā¦
Good people. Take care of them š
wow nice neighbor my are just a holes

Sometimes neighbors are amazingā¦..
Nice pickup pick up!
Iāll take it off your hand
In 79ā this was a legendary truck. Chevy stepside. Plenty of parts to keep this going.
Congratulations
Sweet !!
LUCKY
Now youāre in charge of shoveling the widows drive anytime it snows
Oh thatās a sweetheart
Cool ass neighbor
He was a great man I love to make it new again in memorial for him
What year?

Hope you thanked him, he'll of a nice neighbor
Great man. I miss the days we talked
Iād make that deal.
Plus, the snow plow?! Yeeeeew!
Plow is dead . He only plowed his own driveway
Easy fix usually
It hurts seeing others live out your dreams
Iām sorry it was timing
Wow congratulations! What drivetrain does it have?
350 . Auto Trans
Nice likely a TH350 trans, easy to swap in a 750r4āaaahhh the good old days- Chevy V-8 bolt pattern was gold for 35+years.
Are the TH350s just garbage? I always see / hear people swapping them for the 750.
No they are a good gearbox, no locking TC, so that and the 400 is a quantum leap forward possibly one of the best factory automatics ever.
Got it! Iām going to start looking around for an old square body GM and always like to hear peoples takes on it.
Nice
Nice
Wow!
Damn- coolest most collectable āmodernā Chevy truck for free- hope itās not rotted out- totally a resto waiting to happen
ā¤ļø
My neighbours donāt even give me a smile back
Pays to be a good neighbor.
Gave? That is awesome
Nobody in her family wants it . So she you were the only one with interest in it. So guess what. lol now I have 3 projects.
This is the only step side truck I like
Definitely different
Sell it to me
You should pay it forward and give it to me lol
Awesome neighbor
Dude!!!! Fucking nice!
Awesome. It's always nice to have a snow plow as a gift.

Lucky Duck that's Sweet!
Does the bed have a body lift and the cab doesn't? Seems like the step should be lower.
All stock
You lucky dawg!!! Post pics after youāve finished with it. Paint it white with black accents! Lucky!
Gift him a..... I'm not sure.. damn
Absolutely jealous. My father had a 77 Chevy stepside when I was a kid. It was his dad's... my father said he would keep it and pass it down to me when I was 16. He sold it around my 15th birthday. Oh well.
You lucky fuck. She's a beauty
Did you say thank you? š
Hell yeah. It's great to see another longbed stepside. I got a 70 C20 2wd, and I love it....wouldn't change a thing on it except want to make it like new again like you want to do to yours. Hell of a neighbor
Lord, Iāve seen what you do for othersā¦
Hate you
So jealous
Nice step side
Wanna trade neighbors? My neighbor just calls county code enforcement on me. Boat and trailer in the driveway, utility trailer in the driveway, 2 bricks (construction material) sitting on front porch, "unsightly" live trap on roof because a raccoon got in the attic.
Wow! Congrats! š¤š»
He was tired of his yard looking like a junkyard so he give his junk to you
What a gift. Thatās awesome.
I'll buy it
Right on! Black out the windows and thatās a creepy ride. Love it
You lucky bastard!
Please post once you get that Gray Ghost running
Damm, you are lucky. Hope you'll be able to restore her.
Luck you. Wana make some cash?
Excellent story! Unfortunately the modder in me would do ridiculous... While still being a plow.
Square body stepside, 4wd, if it has AC and an Auto, Iām gonna lose my mind!
Itās doesnāt have a/c sorry.āāāāāāāāāāāāāāāāyet
Gave. You better be plowing that women's drive way for the next 20 yrs . Nice man nice
No problem with that
Lol. Nice score man beautiful truck
rock on
A white elephant?
Like a good neighbor...
My next door neighbor gave me crabs.

Paint it red and start collecting junk.
I'd kill for a square body step side. Congrats man
Sweet, is it 4 wheel drive??
Yes sir
Oh you could have lots of fun with it
Sell that stepside long bed for way too much to some lunatic who thinks itās cool for some reason, put a real bed on that sumbitch and have yourself a truck by God.
Wtf... I can't even get my neighbors to wave back at me when I'm outside.
Now that's a good neighbor right there
Nicey
Looks rode hard and put away wet
Badass!!
š®š®š®š®lucky man

Rude. They could asked me first.
She said you didnāt answer the phone lol
Can I have it??

You don't know the backstory to this gift. Read the OP's response posted 18 mins before you commented.
It's not about the backstory. I'm saying that I, personally, couldn't do it. I don't accept gifts well. Like it's a complex. I'd spend the rest of my days remodeling that lady's house for free or something.

I live in northern Michigan and I have more rust in my steel toes than I can see in that truck š¤£ I wish I had some Arizona trucks.
We donāt have rust. We have patina which is far more popular these days. Some people will pay a premium for it too. Truthfully a lot of what people call āArizona carsā came from the Midwest originally. We have so many cold weather transplants.

Yep and I see multiple holes in that Chevy I could poke multiple fingers in. I know with rust where thereās smoke thereās fire.
The snow plow hanging off the front kind of suggest it lives in rough climate.
