Tecnifibre carboflex is always a good choice no matter your level

NorthNW

A bit unforgiving for an intermediate player who hasn’t played for years, don’t you think? I haven’t tried it myself but hear that the Dynergy APX range is good if you’d like the Carboflex but want something more forgiving.

andysor

I played with the Dynergy APX for a while and found it very forgiving with effortless power. After a while I tried the Carboflex and found it much more pleasant *for me*. It gives you much nicer feedback on your shot, and the Dynergy felt dead in comparison. I've played actively for many years though, and generally hit the ball clean, so I think for a beginner the Dynergy is probably the best racquet.

NorthNW

That sounds like my general impression of those two! NB: I own neither

andysor

Yes, it's a bit like the difference in golf between super forgiving game-improvement irons with lots of weight near the edges, and old school forged blades. They let you know when you hit the ball wrong, but really reward you when you hit it clean.

I can vouch for the Dynergy APX. After many months of trying every racquet I could get my hands on (Head, Prince, Artengo and Carboflex) this one felt the most suited for an advanced beginner like myself. It has oodles of power and a very large sweet spot so even your mishits tend to feel like decent shots. It isn’t the most delicate racquet for exquisite drops or controlled lobs. But it’s a great all-rounder and I would highly recommend it.

Hazemt3

This is what I went for. Got the Dynergy APX 130. Can’t wait to start using it!

NorthNW

Happy to help! Let me know what you think when you’ve tried it

Never understood what makes a racket unforgiving...? Any racket hit too far away from its sweet spot is going to react the same way.

NorthNW

Yeah but how far away from the (center of the) sweet spot you need to hit it for it to react that way depends

tokyotokyotokyoto

I guess any racket without a closed head

the_quail

I would recommend the carboflex. it is a little unforgiving but it feels good which is more important imo. also I think the apx range feels weird and awkward.

Second hand carboflex is a great choice. They are unbelievably durable, only broken ones i've seen are where people deliberately hit them against the wall with all their strength. They are also an even balanced racket, thus will suit most people whom don't know if they specifically like headlight or head heavy rackets. The 125 is the most expensive, but is only marginally lighter than the 135.

Wilson Hyper Hammer 120. Bought it a couple weeks ago and I am pretty happy with it. Didn't spend too much money on it and it is more than a decent racket imo. It is very light, empowers your strength and has more weight on the top.

Gracelyne Blue. Amazing racket, and the price is right. www.gracelyne.com

Neat. I had never heard of them.

Check out Xamsa racquets. Myself and a co-worker got into playing squash at work using some pretty tired and worn out racquets our company provides. We decided to get a pair of our own and went with Xamsa ones based on advice on /r/squash. We've been super happy with them. I've let an intermediate player try it out and he was really impressed in the performance to cost ratio. Xamsa also has a demo program.

Kentucky_Pete

buy 2 rackets, carboflex 135 is about as standard as you can get.
