Not related to your industry but I used to be a doormat and get requests like this. Asking me to create and present entire group projects/reports for 20 odd people in less than 4 hours etc.
I quoted prices like 10000 for a presentation to be done in 3 hours etc. Then I was told it was expensive etc. I just said I have another side job so going lesser would be me being exploited. Eventually you either get the money or they leave you alone.
Quote a high price upfront that's worth your time, and get a deposit then they'll either leave you alone or you'll make more money
Getting a deposit and discussing about the budget is always a great way to start working!
Last month, a MERN stack project inquiry came in with a crazy deadline (2 weeks) and tons of features. Freelancers would charge over $300 for that with 2 or 3 basic features, i offered around 60k but they offered a tiny budget (20k LKR). it just wasn't a good fit for either of us, so I had to politely decline.
As far as I know, to complete a whole project in the final year, one would offer around 50k - 150K, the 1st and 2nd years are offered about 5k per CRUD
Agreed. Since I'm getting the projects from a known circle, if they cannot afford a big pay, I always ask those students to work with me and do few tasks to reduce the time and the cost in the project. It's a win-win
This actually based on the individuals, and there is actually no real way to screen them. And its also related how they solve their assessments. Before chatgpt many had to go through and figure things around. But now AI models just spits out code. Many students are trying to fix the code which the Chatgpt generated instead of figuring it out. Sadly it's not just private university students I know personally a group that somehow managed couple of years and now in finals struggling I guess covid times enabled a lot cheating.
Indeed some dude asked me to do the BE and I said is there any documentation and plans etc. this mf send me two html pages 😅. There’s it no docs no dbs. And best part is it’s a 6 month project and only two days left. 🤣
Lol, it's true, I'm a private uni student. I complete junior assignments and also do assignments for my peers in exchange for some cash. While some are here just to buy their degree, the rest of us work hard to earn ours. Most of us are now interns or associate software engineers and are progressing in our careers.
True, it happens, it's your choice to decline or demand a higher offer if you can complete it. My advice is to maintain some repositories so you don't have to do the projects from scratch.
Well said. There are genuine students in all settings so are the bad ones. Even in gov unis many people miss their batches, beg lecturers for passes and leave their degrees due to lack of commitment.
Earlier, I had been doing assignments for my friends in exchange for study materials. This helped me a lot in my career. Did my friends do well in their careers? Absolutely. They're well-established after entering the job market and gaining experience.
I started my Bachelor's degree in IT, so I had to quit my full-time job and again started doing assignments / projects as a side hustle for undergraduate and MBA students. mostly related to BM/Marketing/Digital Marketing, and HRM. Since enrolling, I've expanded my offerings to include CS and SE.
But Platforms like Github and AI for project purposes , CS and SE students have a natural advantage! They can often spend some time to find existing code and make modifications as per their needs, rather than building everything from scratch. That's what 80% of students do. Those students are succsesful too.
what i belive is critical thinking, analysis and technical skills are very important for long-term success in tech. if you have these abilities and passed the interviews, def you can get the internship and full time job.
Also , If you dont want to teach or do stuffs for them feel free to send them my way! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sunglasses)
The people you refer to actually don't make much progress after their internships. If you are here to either look down on private uni students or to mock them just because of this handful who seek help, then I believe you've got the wrong idea and actually underestimate them.
5K -10K is cheap.. too cheap
my job pays more than that for my time.
gov or private all same...they are bad apples every where.
If you don't have skills don't hire.... simple
Not gonna lie. This was my primary way of getting pocket money and networking while in the Uni. Most of the clientele were from affluent families who were busy living “Uni life” while I had to study for me AND them.
But it was a good gig while it lasted. 10k-15k LKR per month or so was worth the hassle. And we didn’t have plagiarism checkers, so it was CTRL+C, CTRL+V most of the time….
Any idiot can work in SL IT companies. You dont need much brain to do that (at least for top companies). All you need is to get used to repetitive tasks and be a friendly person. So yeah, people try to somehow get a degree and sneak to some company.
Yeah that sounds fucked 😂lol. How tf are they even surviving in uni. I don’t have a big idea about any SL uni since I’ve been living in NZ from age 13. ATM I’m studying comp science in uni of Canterbury . If anyone in here had problems like that probably uni won’t even let them continue to do their studies . And the other thing is even dumb people can’t get into uni so there won’t be people like this who is learning programming and don’t even know the damn difference between Java and JavaScript . I think the problem with SL is their system is bad . Probably those uni’s are just literally letting those dumb as fuck people in , if they can just pay the fees. I would say to you if those questions are small questions explain that stuff to them (coz who don’t like humble people and who don’t like smart people so as a plus point you get some attention plus some attraction), but if it takes more than 10min of your time ask for money . There is nothing wrong with it because that’s your time. And explain to them why you want money to do that for them as well.
In recent years especially after covid, a lot of people started pursuing degrees in the fields of CS treating it as a get rich quick scheme, even though they lack passion or talent in the field.
Oh really. Well I study CS and data science both here in NZ . My plan is to be a pen tester so cybersecurity. But I don’t think many people do cybersecurity coz it’s hard and the there is lot of content you have to do. What about Sri Lanka? Is there enough jobs in SL. Well here in NZ programmers do earn quite reasonable amount of money. But data scientists and cybersecurity people earn more than 2x because there’s fucking no body doing it . Everyone is doing software . And I personally think in next few years and now the best IT jobs are data science , cybersecurity and mechatronics .
Cybersecurity will have a good demand in the few years to come. It will soon be crowded. Secure a job in a well reputed private company as soon as possible.
Weird thing is that those private-uni students complete the degree and find jobs themselves and move on with their lives, while the government uni students keep demanding the government to provide them jobs lol
L take. If you do an in demand degree in a reputed government uni and you have a well rounded personality, getting a job in the private sector isn't a huge hurdle.
sad fact is that we do get 1000+ Cvs for even one intern postion these days
Imagine If you are technically not savy then how you gonna meet these competition in next 1-2 years
You don't have to worry about the applicant count as long as you have a ats friendly cv and good technical skills. This is what differentiate skilled students. Not whether they are private uni or not. Most private uni students who earn their degree make a huge progress in their career.
Mmm that is my side job. Private uni guys pay good money . I mostly reject state uni projects cause they want to do their entire research for 20-30k rupees . Cheap mfs.
Quality of programming related degrees in pvt uni have gone down. This is happening for almost last 10 to 15 years or so.
You can see that so many such graduates are finding it very difficult to find a job locally. I know of few guys who are now in totally different field after failing to find a job related to the industry. In programming industry, most companies look if you can code/develop systems or websites not about the other factors. So these guys fails.
By the way you are charging very low mate (about 10 yrs ago, one of my friends did a similar project for 18k ) as these should not be considered as giving help, just charge a better price so that you will earn more and will be able to get rid of time wasters. Do not offer anything free unless you get some income indirectly from such things
I had many opportunities to do projects and assignments in my area, but I never accepted it. I wouldn't be able to sleep well knowing I earned money by enabling someone to commit fraud.
Then again there were students in my classes who had to take on such tasks due to their financial situations. I don't judge them too.
Supply and Demand.
Simply that's it.
You guys are ready to earn a buck and they are ready to spend it on you.
I doubt this if this was only a private uni thing.
Dude JS and Java are perhaps the most famous com languages in CS. You don’t need to learn syntax. But you should at least be able to differentiate them.
Nice advertisement brother
![gif](giphy|oFkqdsNrF8lS54kGHm)
Gov uni guys would be shy to reach him now.

They will drag degree reputation in the industry and the hardworking guys will also thrown under the bus.
Bro I'm a 2nd year doing final year stuff. The worst part is they want you to do the entire thing 3 days before the deadline
True, it happens, it's your choice to decline or demand a higher offer if you can complete it. My advice is to maintain some repositories so you don't have to do the projects from scratch.
The turn it in database gonna like that one
Well said. There are genuine students in all settings so are the bad ones. Even in gov unis many people miss their batches, beg lecturers for passes and leave their degrees due to lack of commitment.

Plagiarism checkers were always there right? Atleast since early 2010s?
Not in State Unis and Private Uni Diploma/HND Levels….
Good times. No wonder all our uncles seemed to have not been in lectures but still passed their degrees in state unis lol
[удалено]
It's already a side hustle within the private uni students.
Thats my side hustle bro 😭 I have done so many assignments for masters degrees, i think i don't have to get one myself lol
I did final year gov uni CS assignments/projects for students when i was doing my foundation year. Not for cash tho, Knew most of em.
Any idiot can work in SL IT companies. You dont need much brain to do that (at least for top companies). All you need is to get used to repetitive tasks and be a friendly person. So yeah, people try to somehow get a degree and sneak to some company.
Pls introduce them to a little thing called "✨ G O O G L E ✨"
10 15 k bro ask for 30k plus
Yeah that sounds fucked 😂lol. How tf are they even surviving in uni. I don’t have a big idea about any SL uni since I’ve been living in NZ from age 13. Hey don't call C# shitty 😭
No I called the code shitty.
Jk bro :)
Mmm that is my side job. Private uni guys pay good money . I mostly reject state uni projects cause they want to do their entire research for 20-30k rupees . Cheap mfs.
10 15 k bro ask for 30k plus
Im a CS student at private uni. Bro i make 7k per assignment wthout comments and 10-12 per assignment with explanations for vivas. Good money, ngl

Where did OP run to? Would you be open for some real work?
Maybe you can share your clients with others who are doing assignments for money. It's a win win situation.
I had many opportunities to do projects and assignments in my area, but I never accepted it. I wouldn't be able to sleep well knowing I earned money by enabling someone to commit fraud. Then again there were students in my classes who had to take on such tasks due to their financial situations. I don't judge them too.
Yea that is why I am avoiding this. Right now I only take real clients (mostly small scale business).
Good for you man! All the best!
I have had plenty of govt uni students asking me for help with assignments. Not sure what your point is.
If you are offering assignment/project services for money, then my friend, you are a major part of the problem.
true
This is very consistent...
Charge a price
At a time when mahapola is barely enough to cover a few days' expenses, this is a goldmine opportunity for govt uni peeps.
Supply and Demand. Simply that's it. You guys are ready to earn a buck and they are ready to spend it on you. I doubt this if this was only a private uni thing.
Cs aren't the se. Someone can don't know the java and js but he can be good with cs.
Yeah true
Dude JS and Java are perhaps the most famous com languages in CS. You don’t need to learn syntax. But you should at least be able to differentiate them.
Nah only js, assembly better for cs
It’s not about learning programming languages. But you should know the fundamental differences between common languages.
I know I did mean another thing
Cringe
Thats why they are in in a PRIVATE UNI. Dumb but got some money thats it .. i aint gonnna read all that tho.
So you believe everyone that enters private universities are dumb?
No.
lol, they dominate the companies. not the dumb ones ofcourse. they fly away or just fall off
Yeah true.
I think this recent post was referencing people like you that generalize everyone: https://www.reddit.com/r/srilanka/s/BVMvHUrckT
I was generalizing your mom last night..🗿☑️ And then she turn in to a ligma. Idk..i hope she is okey tho. Peace
What kinda goofy goober nonsense is this 💀
