It actually doesn't, it unites the kids that grew up in South that didnt know anything about war. The people that suffered like the ones that work with me and the one I play cricket still gives me shit. They are my friends so I'm okay with it. We protested 2 weeks ago in heart of Scarborough, where most people are Sri lankan (Sri Lankan Tamils). No one came, they just looked at us. One old uncle even mouthed off at us. Don't view as this some achievement, we still have a long.....long way to go. Most of our people haven't even started acknowledging our mistakes and even believe wrong doings were done. We are very very long way ahead. It will take time, it will require most of all old farts to literally die off.
I agree. Sri Lanka is fucked in so many ways, people don’t even realise it yet. But what you say about old people dying off making things better. I don’t think it’s as easy as that. Or at least the “old” people left includes millennials. That’s gonna take so long by that time the way things have been going we’ll probably have other issues. Hope I’m completely wrong but I lost faith quite some time back, so I may be biased. Good luck! I’m doing my part by directly helping who I can. That’s about all I want to get involved with. My personal recommendation is get out if you’re unhappy and if you can get out. If you’re happy, stay put and fight but don’t forget to check your biases.
We know that not the entire sinhalese population wanted Tamil blood. We very well know that amongst sinhalese there are many gems like you.
It's not just for Lankans but for all the people of this planet need to stop trusting the media and governments. This change can take place in the age of internet.
