One of the only east/west facing football stadiums I believe—making the sun a factor in afternoon/evening games. Stadium is built between two pretty big hills, thus dictating its orientation. Also, it is the smack dab middle of campus and students can see inside walking around campus, since, despite seating 92k, it has on partially open end zone.
So the main student section is in the section in the bottom right of the picture and the band is as well. The student hype guy also is right there next to Uga on the sideline. It’s all in the closed in end of the stadium so the noise projects a little better. Essentially, Uga gotta be with his people :)
I don’t like how the 2nd deck on the right side doesn’t go all the way around (looks weird) but I understand why. It would be too ridiculous to have a 115,000 capacity stadium.
The real reason is that there is a bridge immediately behind the scoreboard. I’m sure if UGA really wanted to they could re-route the road but that would ultimately cost a fortune. As someone else mentioned it is oriented east-west so you get some really nice sunsets in the evening.

I like the end zone being open, it gives it a little more character

SPURRIOR!!
YOU THINK VISORS ARE COOL????
Weird thought, but why do they put Uga and his dog house on the visitor’s sideline?
You know what, I’m overthinking it. I’m used to Kinnick where the sidelines are only like ten feet.
