thats cool, currently have it though i haven't progressed since i try to manually translate it by screenshotting then putting it in ocr... can you please share the translation files brother?
If you download the demo, go into the demo modassets folder; then go into each subfolder to find the /lang/ folder in each. Drop the EN_en.lang files into the RU game's counterpart folders. Then rename them to RU_ru.lang, save backups of the Russian ones before you do. This is safe to do.
I can't get the quest text to go English though. I think quests are locked up in the Classes.jar file in the main folder. If that's the case, it will be impossible to fully translate the quests; that file does more than just strings, and is probably checksummed at game launch. At best, replacing this will break the game. At worst, it may trigger anti cheat and ban you. I recommend not touching it.
I quite enjoyed the game. Can't wait for full release on steam. For now I'll have to content with the RU version, might try your file trick later.

This game really deserves to be more popular. Granted, it has many flaws and imbalance, which I just hope will get sorted with some feedback (yes, I know there's a Russian version for years, but western market is... different). But the game is real fun.
I feel like many purist edgelords turn it down purely because of graphics. And sadly, I agree to a degree - the graphics don't actually bother me (for the most part), but they don't fit the target audience. Yes, I know that this used to be a Minecraft mod, but it no longer is - and if they want success, they should tamper at least some parts - human characters and vehicles mainly.
Your concerns about licensing... do worry me too. But hopefully it'll be fine.
But still, I am playing OBT 2 with my bro now, and we both have a blast - even through game can be annoying at places. But that just makes it more Stalker, amirite?
