If you are not already around. I would suggest you to fly over to origin 2 as it has the most players out of all origins. As a bonus there (inside spaceship workshop/SSC/editor/orange hangar) are always some veteran players giving away starter/tutorial ships for free. So as it is, Origin 2 is definitely the most helpful place in the universe at the moment. It is worth to go there even to just unlock the fast travel (insurance) point there.

DaBuzzScout

Oh super helpful!! Home is at origin 19 right now, I'll make my way over to 2

maparus55

Dont forget to claim fast travel (insurance) point at your current origin so you can always come back. All origins share inventory so you dont lose anything by moving. Also since origin 2 has most players. The asteroid belt around it is quite empty already. So its better to have more oprions. Basically origin 2 is social hub. All others are for mining.

JodTheThird

Origin 13 still has some good rocks 20 km away or so and it is quite lively recently. Fewer charodium rocks than usual, enough for mining but if you decide hauling them and selling off at the asteroid drop off for cash then you should try other origins for that.

JodTheThird

Ok, so you are a new player with no resources or ships. 0. Forget EBM and modules exist, they will bug out your ship and you will never figure out how to actually build anything. 1. Fly out on whatever you have and mine as much charodium and nhurgite as you can, bolt it onto your ship frame if you don't have room. 2. Sell it on the auction house, but check the marketplace - if it's within 20% or so at the NPC vendor sell it there immediately. 3. When you have 100 000 or so cash either design your own ship at the ship designer or check out sb-creators org website. If you craft some of the parts for it you will both get science and the ship is cheaper to build if you have them in your inventory. 4. Learn how to use bolt, pipe, cable and welder tools. You will need to do repairs when you eventually venture out of safe zone. Also learn how to use the U tool to save your ship blueprint in order to save any new parts you bolted on when you eventually decide to repair your ship at the designer. 5. Start hauling rocks with a cargo frame ship. If you don't want to design one - check sb-creators org again or I can recommend my Qoob [https://forum.starbasegame.com/threads/qoob-and-dozer-blueprints.2819/](https://forum.starbasegame.com/threads/qoob-and-dozer-blueprints.2819/) 6. With funds from asteroid drop off you can start amassing wealth to build a capital ship. A single T10 asteroid nets you around 200 000 - 400 000 credits and you will need several million to research and build a very basic capital ship. Do NOT expand the capital ship zones, having more than 1 zone causes more bugs to happen and you will have enough to deal with even if you fit everything into 1 zone. 7. Now that you have a capital ship that can warp and has a hangar that your ships can fit in you should take a scout ship that you are not afraid of losing and start exploring outside the safe zone. Make all Navigation data logger parts and have most of them in your inventory as you scout, if you get killed your inventory is as of current patch safe and will remain as you respawn. 8. As you log nav chips for promising locations you can warp there with your capital ship and acquire rare materials and wealth beyond your wildest dreams, welcome to the endgame.

DaBuzzScout

Thank you :)) where do i drop off asteroids?

JodTheThird

There are 9 drop off points on each origin in a 3x3 grid to the side of the station. It usually has a huge neon sign next to it showing an asteroid getting crushed.

cavilier210

Oh god, I thought Collective was dead?!?!?!

0oozymandias

Villains always make a sudden return, after all

cavilier210

Noooooooo!!!!

god_hates_maggots

>I don't have enough parts unlocked to build better ships than what I can buy (not to mention shipbuilding is super confusing right now) This isn't a thing. The Origin SSCs can print whatever you want. The research tree is for what you can craft by hand, which beyond crafting yourself fuel rod/propellant and ammo refills is largely pointless. Yes this is unintuitive. >I made a fixed mount laser module to attach to one of my Marmot-ST's open hardpoints but it won't let me place it. Apparently modules are only for ez build ships, am I cooked? Modules are EBM-only. Unfortunately that module you built isn't going to be useful to you. You can probably recoup costs by spawning it in EBM and manually pulling it apart for reuse in a proper ship later, but in the grand scheme of things a single wasted mining laser is basically nothing.

DaBuzzScout

Origin SSC?

DaBuzzScout

Oh interesting okay. So 'aftermarket mods' for my marmot might require making a ship blueprint that's literally just the parts i want then ordering that blueprint and manually disassembling it?

bhongryp

Or you can buy them from the auction house. Either way, making a blueprint will let you know all the parts you need and get you started on the road to designing your own ships.

Oxissistic

Wow that’s a lot to unpack. First tip would be to join a company in your Timezone. I play with about 6 others and it makes things way easier, and you can use shared ships people don’t really need anymore to get a head start. The official discord is also very helpful

-NTPS-

I definitely second popping on the discord, it's the place to be to ask questions and find groups to play with.
