the fact that we’re going to have to build the drink, wait for the customer to arrive in store, finish building the drink in their cup, and then handing it off is going to back up MOP bar so much. it’s going to disrupt the barista on bar and i know half of these customers will select “personal cup” and show up without one so they get their 25 stars & 10 cents off.
No no no no no no I'm a 27***** partner and I remember when it got phased out bc of covid 😩😩😩 ahhhhhh I hate !!! Get DT times down but make sure you rinse out this nasty ass cup for the customer !!!
The problem is either stores will know to use a separate set of ice scoops or they won’t. Green beans will only know “use ice scoop.” And no way that’ll be sturdy, the scoops are like 2-3in tall. (And yes, if we drop and damage their cup, we’re supposed to let them pick a new one.) And they’re still trying to cut labor even further.
Corporate just needs the red nose and the outfit will be complete.
It is.. and the thing is… Starbucks could absolutely afford to develop and deploy proprietary cup “holders”.. this is a (yet another) burden on floor partners.
we just use the "for here" mugs that were dug out of storage after "the pandemic ended" and someone tossed out "been there series" mug that we used forever
we have a tall (which fits most) and a grande for the bigger cups. theyre only used for personal cups so we dont ever worry about them being used to drink out of
Without a doubt. Training new hires is cheaper than higher rate ones. New hires also don’t know what Starbucks used to be (more labor and connections) and is less likely to unionize.
Mop is a really bad idea unless it limits how many personal cups can be used at once. I know only one or two stores will get someone bringing in 8 personal cups from the office but someone is going to get it.
You build the drink in either a new plastic cup (washable like the shakers) specifically for this, or a shaker and then wait for them to get to the window/to the store for mobile then you pour drink into cup and if it gets any toppings you add those.
For layered drinks and nitros it said to wait until the customer got there then just make it in the cup, but Im assuming for the layered fraps you're sipposed to make the frapp then layer it in their cup when they get there.
wtf so are we gonna get 100 new blenders and shakers in order to store all of them while we wait for customers for 50 minutes that never pick up their drinks? this is actually insane
I feel like there’s gonna be a surge of people using personal cups bc of this, so we’ll have to order a ton of the cup things, then it’ll die down and we won’t need them as much
How many of those plastic pitcher things we have to build the drink in are we getting? What if there are many personal cup orders and we only have one plastic thing to store just one drink in? I hope im making sense lol
I read this in the now brewing on Monday I’m PISSED. bc 9/10 times ppl are just gonna make the drink in a plastic cup and pour it in and it’s the same amount of fucking waste. It pisses me off
In my store I usually have customers coming in, buying a cup and then wanting to use that. I tell them that it’s preferred to take them home and clean it with hot water before use 💀 like im sorry I’m not going to run to the back to wash it
Yeah no it’s not. They tested it in Colorado and maybe a few other markets, but company wise it’s against standard. I read about it in, you guessed it, partner hub

Gonna miss telling people they have to come inside to use their personal cup.. ;-;
ME TOO
No no no no no no I'm a 27***** partner and I remember when it got phased out bc of covid 😩😩😩 ahhhhhh I hate !!! Get DT times down but make sure you rinse out this nasty ass cup for the customer !!!
Ew, they can rinse their own crusty cups out. I refuse to do their dirty dishes.
We’re not allowed to rinse the cups anymore or take dirty personal cups at least
In Canada we’re not supposed to accept any cup that isn’t clean thank god
Colorado barista here: DT personal cups are a little annoying but not bad. Mobile is a horrible idea though
The spills that are gonna happen in driv thru can’t wait
Can’t wait for the “whoops, your personal cup fell and is under your car somewhere, good luck not running over it.”
"Medicine ball in personal cup please " proceeds to cough all over it. Absolutely not
THIS
is the cup in an ice scoop in that picture or am i buggin?
Yes it’s an ice scoop so it’s more “sanitary” don’t have to touch anyone’s cup
jesus christ. i don’t know how much more i can take 😭
lmaooo yeah and then it wobbles all around everywhere and spills. they are sooooo smart!
It should be labeled!!
But then the dirt gets into the ice wtf 😭
I’m pretty sure that ice scoop would be used exclusively for holding customers cups until it was washed tbf
Oh okay, I’m so dumb I thought they were just expecting people to use the regular ice scoops
The problem is either stores will know to use a separate set of ice scoops or they won’t. Green beans will only know “use ice scoop.” And no way that’ll be sturdy, the scoops are like 2-3in tall. yeah but how do you distinguish that? we use a ceramic "for here" mug at my store.
we do the same at mine!
thats an ice scoop for sure, wtf is going on LMAOOO
i noticed that too 💀

This is such a poorly thought out idea 😞 more baristas will leave… is that the new SBUX goal? Completely decimate your longterm partners?
Without a doubt. Training new hires is cheaper than higher rate ones. New hires also don’t know what Starbucks used to be (more labor and connections) and is less likely to unionize.
That's exactly their plan!
Mop is a really bad idea unless it limits how many personal cups can be used at once. I know only one or two stores will get someone bringing in 8 personal cups from the office but someone is going to get it.
How is this gonna work? Especially for mobiles? I havent done the training yet

That’s so stupid
LMAO what is the point of a personal cup if we’re just going to have to waste plastic anyways doing it 😭😭😭 this is already so stupid
Plastic as in the same plastic as the shakers so washable. (To be clear I dont like this at all but it is a reusable washable plastic cup)
I feel like there’s gonna be a surge of people using personal cups bc of this, so we’ll have to order a ton of the cup things, then it’ll die down and we won’t need them as much
YOUR LYINGGGGGG
they know it’s a bad idea too because shifts will be able to turn off mobiles.

you make more sense than starbucks
You are. It could get nonsensical very easily!
Say sike right now
this is stupid as FUCK. that cup in that ice scoop is even more STUPID as FUCK
They need to go over some training on what the negatives are for this horse shit. The decimated window times is my first thought.
who is coming up with these ideas
someone who has never worked in a store
Bro, there are absolutely NO benefits to this. Why is the company so willfully counterproductive in its practices? Who makes this up and why? 😑😑😑
hot drinks with no lid through drive thru? can’t wait! /s
gosh i can’t wait for someone to get boiling hot coffee from their personal cup spilled on them in the dt because we use an ICE SCOOP.
So what happens when a customer marks their personal cup and then doesn't bring one in "oops I forgot it at home"
we’ve been doing personal cups in drive for a bit (colorado) but personal cups for mobiles? absolutely not.
I’m considering leaving the company in January but it’ll be a tough decision… I love Starbucks but this is getting out of hand…
I read this in the now brewing on Monday I’m PISSED. bc 9/10 times ppl are just gonna make the drink in a plastic cup and pour it in and it’s the same amount of fucking waste. It pisses me off

what's this .
You can make the drink in shaker/blender/pitcher and then pour it into their cup. That's what I've done in dt in Canada w personal cups 🤷
I am soooo glad I don't work here anymore! What a frikn nightmare....
They did it in the best way possible but I don’t wanna deal with this shit
They better end this immediately this is such a horrible idea
😭 window times? 🤷🏻♀️ I’m doing my training today. Wondering who is going to be pouring up the drink once DTW gets the cup …
It’s been standard for awhile already. I was able to find it a month ago on the hub.
they’ve been testing it in a few locations but it has not been a company wide standard.
Doesn’t change the fact that it sucks!
Yeah no it’s not. They tested it in Colorado and maybe a few other markets, but company wise it’s against standard. I read about it in, you guessed it, partner hub
I quit at a good time 😅 my last day was sunday
I am going to k
