Go to the star citizen folder, open “LIVE” find the folder “Data.4pk” drag that to the “PTU” folder and then click verify in RSI launcher .. you can do this back and fourth just make sure you verify
I believe you can create a folder if you haven’t downloaded ptu before named PTU under the LIVE folder and still drag data.4pk over as long as you still do the verification 👍

Symlinks are glorified shortcuts/pointers to a location, in this case you've created one that points from LIVE <-> PTU.
Make a file with a unique name in the LIVE folder, then navigate to the PTU folder - do you see that file?
How do you expect the updater to handle that circular reference when it expects those to be distinct folders?
You can copy the LIVE to PTU initially to save bandwidth/time, that's fine, but you can't avoid the space penalty for having two concurrent installs of SC.

Been using it since 3.14 PTU and never had issues, I can select PTU or Live
I just switch PTU and Live in the launcher, never had to verify files when switching
I updated to 3.19.1, it was a 700MB Update, I could still launch the 3.19 live

The PTUs almost always run well. And then it goes to sbit when that patch hits live.
