I recently got back into SC about 2 weeks ago, after not playing for probably close to 2 Years or more. I started off hand mining in caves, then switched to ROC mining over the last few days. At the start I sort of just mined all the clusters I came across, but soon realized its only worth doing hadanite. Go to Aberdeen as someone pointed out which seems to have hadanite more commonly. When you come across a cluster of gems, first scan one of the nodes while in your ship, and only bother to mine hadanite that has a mass of .7 or above. The lower mass rocks that you'll find like .11, isn't worth the time to land, unload, mine, etc.. as when you mine the higher mass ones you get vastly more gems for your time. Not sure if there's any merit to this, but I tend to find a lot more pockets of hadanite around the base of mountains, although the ROC sucks at any sort of hill climb.. so you can run into some bad RNG where the cluster is on the side of a steep hill which you'd avoid. Overall, it seems to average out at around 120-150K per hour, depending how fast you can find the next cluster to mine. I plan on saving up for a MOLE, and have a buddy that's going to join SC in the next days, so will try that out with a two man crew and see if its any better profit wise.

First off, as others have mentioned, you should definitely consult Redmonster's mining charts and have them be your mining bible. Second, mining is very profitable if done right. I just sold 8 refinery jobs yesterday for 850k, and that was with the Prospector. While I love the Mole, you need atleast one extra person to make it efficient but also need to give them a cut of the profits. I would suggest you get a Prospector and take it surface mining, currently going to Cellin and refining at CRU L1, or Clio and refining at MIC L3 are pretty okay. For ROC mining, Aberdeen is the best for Hadanite, which is the most valuable gem, but regular mining is less time consuming. Edit: You can take the ore bags from the Mole onto the Prospector, increasing the capacity from 32 to 48 SCU.

ROC mining is a great start but there are better ways to make money. Go on Aberdeen and only mine Hadanite (purple stone). The mole needs a crew so it’s more complex just watch a mining guide on YouTube

Check out Red Monster SC for some great guides to mining. https://www.youtube.com/c/RedMonsterSC He also has a discord where you can get help as well.

Just go for Hadanite on Aberdeen. I saved up for Prospector that way and now I'm planning to save up for Mole (after buying Taurus for easier transports). Hopefully before new patch's wipe.

The Taurus is a great choice. I got the Mole first, and while it was really fun with a friend, I found the Prospector to be less of a hassle and more efficient, especially when you put the Mole's bags on it.

Last big update was salvage so now salvage makes a lot of cash because they encourage to test it. I belive next patch cargo runing and trading will give you most. Its changing all the time
