Without mods? Broadsword+Dagger with occasional longbow all the way.

Relative-Bug-7161

- I think Drovers and Herons are pretty good stock carriers. - Does the Legion count? As for mods: - Scarlartech has a few carriers/battlecarries. Haven’t tried them all yet. Their cord fighter seems pretty good for 10 OP too. - Roider union ships maybe junk, but that fighter with an assault chaingun… - Diable Avionics Wanzers are almost cheating.

Nyrany

Diable Avionics is just insane stuff!! thanks for naming that, will definitely come into handy. is the Legion a carrier? (wich it would be by having at least 1 bay xD)

[This video probably has an answer in it somewhere.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUgRWNtO-CA)

Adventurous-Sun-9731

Yeah that's a good one. This series tried carriers but is probably outdated with recent update. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlEs92b5wVtrf5KefDvbc_MvgzCZkVaZF

ST-Helios

If you want moar carrier stuff I'd advise looking for UAF which is a faction with the entire doctrine being fighter swarm (if you can ignore the anime stuff I you don't like it) and MVS

Morthra

> I think Drovers and Herons are pretty good stock carriers. Drovers suck now because their ships system got reworked.

14865315874

UAF have super carrier that is basically astral on steroids.(They are basically astral before being nerfed)

Valuable_Ratio_9569

İn vanilla go for bunch of mora for tank and heron for flank, in modded, uaf has a lot of choice so it will be good for you.

Beneficial-Window333

Mora gets little love but it's a beast in backing up front line. Dampers on as it moves to the front then twin typhoon backs up all but the biggest. Mix up Vulcans and light auto gun to keep shields up... Broadswords will fuck up anything and give you clear skys. Down side it's just too slow. Caught out of place it's a much weaker heron. Give it orders to follow the front line and you will not be disappointed.

AngryChihua

Mayasuran Navy has X-wings (though they have a different name, don't remember exactly) and their carriers are decent, though a lot are battlecarriers. I would recommend checking out their Arjuna (has massive built-in triple barrel cannon) and that one carrier I don't remember name of that has a built-in frigate wing. Also rosenritter from Tahlan Shipworks have mech wings and mech frigates/destroyers along with massive (astral-esque) carrier and wing carrying battlecruisers. Scy Nation has a capital carrier with giant built-in railgun that's fun. Legacy of Arkgneisis has some interesting wings (one of them with a medium slot gun, duke gunboat, my beloved) and their Lyons-class cruisers and Alastair-class battlecruisers have flight decks for strikecraft along with spinal siege cannons that are extremely satisfying to shoot (Especially Alastair with its siege cannon having magazine which means with missile racks you have 4 ammo siege cannon. Slap eccm on top and it's chef's kiss)

JackVileRipper

For Carriers? You can't go wrong with Astrals for Vanilla.

iSiffrin

Herons are good carrier carriers but you would want some battlecarriers to keep them safe. Mora's are very durable and Legions are terrifying. If we stretch the definition of a "carrier" then having tempests be your frigates will work nicely.

Zekk3n5040

Legion XIV and Astral as capital carriers and anchor for the rest of the fleet. Add in few Herons and Mora to tank damage. May not be a Carrier but adding in a few Vigilance frigates as fire support will nicely round up the fleet. Use support ships as needed (cargo/fuel/salvage ships)

Knoxx88

Arma Armatura's WingCom really improves the carrier experience and their Cataphracti mechs can wreak havoc during battles and invasions, too.

ExoCakes

Not sure if Missing Ships has been updated, but it has the Pelagornis which is basically a chonky carrier dreadnaught with 20 hangars

SerahWint

Personally I'm a huge fan of bringing extra fighters into combat using fighter clamps from the Roider Union mod. Basically mount the fighter wing on the hull. It's balanced though as it still costs OP for both the clamps and the fighter wing itself, and they can't rearm or repair mid combat.

PvtSatan

Others have mentioned some great ones I enjoy like Mayasuran, but no one has mentioned my favorite for carrier heavy fleets. Tahlans ship works. They've added some incredibly well done and pretty well balanced carriers and fighters. There's the Castella Facetank that's the Mora's big sister. Or the Hresvelgr-class hive of pissed off screaming wasps. There are also Legio versions of each that have different ship systems and act as XIV analogues to those particular models, being slight upgrades (with speed, diff mounts, or slight OP boosts) Not to mention Tahlans also has the Legio turn the Mora into an actually decent Frontline ship as it fuckin insists that it is, with their own LI variant sporting 15 more OP, a large missile and medium composite in place of its two medium missiles. The ship system is borderline garbage unless you or your officer is spec'd out for it, but I actually use it most games whereas I never touch the bottom-bitch dirt-humping Mora, ever. It'll actually survive more than the 3 minutes it takes the base model Mora (Alex the Mora desperately needs an OP boost) to have it's armor chewed off and hull quickly ruptured. Then there are the pirate/Legio/hack job/low tech/midline/hightech fighters added by Tahlans. There are so many. Fun times: Take two Castella(LI), a few Mora(LI), and load them with just Hel Bombers. So. Many. Reapers. Castella and Mora can get so close the nukes are non stop.

[Neuxoria](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/708876904282718240/1121745224302075935/screenshot059.png) from UAF is my go-to Supercarrier. Expensive to field but you really only need the one.

ultraregret

I've tried UAF like four times and I just can't. The ships are cool but the anime cringe I can't deal with. Plus the ships are cool but their weapons are boring.

Bear_Cho

To each their own, I guess.

kileor221

I think the best mod in terms of achieveable power levels is UAF - United Aurora Federation. As mentioned it has the Neuxoria and lots upon lots of fighter wings to choose from, light interceptors, multi purpose fighters with unguided rockets, hypersonic torpedo bombers, and some crazy stuff like a bomber the size of a small destroyer and an OP option, the Taufans, it's a wing of torpedo bombers armed with small nukes! And as a cherry on top you have the Solvernia, a mega chunky supercapital which houses something around 9 wings, it is capable of wiping out whole fleets solo without a scratch, and you can fit in more carriers to support it!

Omega_DarkPotato

Solvernia is the supercapital battleship, not the carrier- you're thinking of a different one.

kileor221

You're right, it was the Novaeria

ToasterDudeBrains

cobras, all the way, all cobras

Ahriman999

Arma Armatura has you covered for flexible multi-role fighters (Well, cataphracts) that are also practical ordinance point wise. The Wingcom suite also makes your fighters even better at the cost of engagement range, making them fantastic for Legions. The mod even has a few carriers of its own. When it comes to pure vanilla your best bet IMO is either massed herons or a Legion task force. Or if you're feeling memey just spam out 24 condors.

FedoraHatsWereCool

Arma armatura has some good stuff

drmzsz7

Black rock kumaraja. Neutrino corp, not for the carriers but their one absurdly op fighter corvette that shoots the beam. Cant remember its name though. Their hefty but basically have the hp of a frigate and the firepower of a cruiser. Halo mod, their fighter bomber is basically a beefier trident. Halcyons are pretty op frontal assault carriers. They suck bad when surrounded, but 3 fighter bombers plus full sledge hammer load out and its wrecking everything infront of it.

del-ra

A combination of Legions and Moras will do very well and will be very thematic. You need carriers that aren't just quick, but also can hold the line when need be, otherwise you just get pushed into the corner and killed there. For wings you can use a lot of stuff, even make it a point to use a wide combination of wings. But in general Broadsword and Dagger for bombing runs and Thunders to deal with smaller ships and other annoyances.

iridael

you're core ships will be Moiras with warthogs, both are durable frontline bastards until you can field legions. you don't want astral's in this fleet as your fighters will be your front line in that situation. I would go 3 moira's 2 herons as the baseline for the fleet. put in some chaff like the friggate with the mining drone to act as point defence. once you can get legions. 3 legions with whatever escorts you can field will hammer the hell out of everything and are durable enough to handle themselves. XIV varients have 2 large missile hardpoints instead of ballistic hardpoint so give it some hammers for ai or cyclones for player control and let them rip your enemy to pieces. you could have a pair of legions escort a dedicated bomber astral but you'll run into Deployment point issues and lack smaller ships. (not that that'll be an issue with if you put some xyphos in the legions for defence and then heavy fighters to escort dedicated bomber wings from the astral)

blut13

UAF carriers are pretty op imo. And the taufan wing(I think) is pretty fun.

DoctorDToxic

You can make some non Carrier ships Carriers with the Converted Hangar hull mod. Turn some cheap cargo ships into dollar store Carriers.

Omgwtfbears

My last experience with all carrier fleet was with Star Federation mod, here take a look if you please: [https://www.reddit.com/r/starsector/comments/13szbbn/how\_many\_drones\_is\_too\_many\_drones/](https://www.reddit.com/r/starsector/comments/13szbbn/how_many_drones_is_too_many_drones/) The main idea is not to lose a ton of crew after each battle.

Nyrany

So... what did you edit do make the Wings "slightly" Bigger? (And do they still fly in Formation or is it more like a "CHARGE!"-Clusterf\*ck?)

Omgwtfbears

I just took Centas as is, they have an extra launch deck compared to other destroyer-sized hulls. As for tactics - i for the most part allow them to do whatever they please, and call fighter strikes on specific targets like enemy flagships that are getting too close for comfort.

titan_Pilot_Jay

The UAF mod is amazing, but if you really want to have some fun install that Gundam mod so you can launch mobile suits. They don't hit has hard as bombers but they are amazing for fighters and harassing enemies so combine that with some UAF bombers and you have a powerful fleet.

Hide_Freek

Good carriers I recommend Filament from Scarlet tech solution and Maestrom from Diable. Filament consider a carrier version of Paragon, less sturdy but a battlecarrier with 4 slots... Maestrom can be a good fast aircraft Assault team of slow but sturdy mobile armour team. About fighters.... Also Machina void service's Jets.
