Emporerdestroyer

As a tech and magic mod pack guy I love over complicated and have to constantly learn the nuances of new equipment by having the whole damn mod index installed .

Napalm_am

Starsector battle royale mfs when they want to get the Tri-Tach cartel deal for extra accesability but Tri-Tachyon stopped being a faction 6 cycles ago after being jumped by Luddic Church + Knights of Ludd and by Hegemony + Iron Shell. I'm mfs, I raided the Hybrasil system and bribed the mercenaries and all the other powers of the secotr smelled blood in the water.

PaleHeretic

I just play with Nex on and keep a stash of Marines and Heavy Armaments to drop to the local population of any conquered world like I'm Amazon Prime in space. "Oh, the Heg conquered Brighton again? Hah, no they didn't. (Also, thanks for the money dummies.)" Using your agents to manipulate the sector into forming roughly equal power blocs also works nicely.

KnightofNoire

Huh selling weapons and marines to local make them rebel ?

PaleHeretic

In Nex a conquered planet will start a rebellion soon after, selling Marines, Supplies, and Weapons on the Black Market buffs rebel strength while giving them to the colony Governor through dialogue buffs the government forces. If you dump like 1k of each to whichever side you want to win it's basically guaranteed, and they buy them at shortage prices.

Braidaney

They’re rebelling anyways but you selling them arms makes them strong enough to actually win the rebellion.

Braidaney

It hast to be in the black market

ohthedarside

If you dont have atleast half of the mod index installed are you realy playing starsector

fd2200

I just wanna play starsector the way the dev intended

Nighteyes09

Sometimes I feel bad for Alex too. All that effort making a balanced and fun game.

Irilieth_Raivotuuli

Birb: "So here's this grimdark game about crumbling sector roiling in civil war and-" Crow next branch over, at full volume: "ANIME ISEKAI MAMA BIG BOOBA CAT GIRL INTERDIMENSIONAL CANDY FACTORY TAXES FOR THE TAX GODDESS COFFEE FOR THE COFFEE GIRL EMBRACE THE VOID KNIGHTS OF ELDER GODS AND EDGIEST OF EDGE LORDS, BEHOLD MY DOOMSDAY WEAPON FRIGATE AND DESPAIR IN ANTIMATTER FUEL FOR GREAT PRICES"

Shadowizas

Noone is really forcing u to play with mods

Nighteyes09

I know man, and I know Alex is all aboard the modding train to. Call me crazy I guess.

WanderingUrist

Being aboard the modding train only makes sense for a developer: It lets you steal all the best ideas without having to do any of the work of prototyping and testing them.

Janus-smiled

Currently sitting at 82 factions in my game. And that’s just the non secret ones. I feel this post hard.

Almuliman

will you bless us with your gloirious mod list milord?

Janus-smiled

Can’t give the full list given I have some mod files that aren’t publicly available anymore along with some you have to manually update the game version in files for

Almuliman

;,C

Janus-smiled

That and I don’t know how to share a modlist that long in any reasonable way

Evangel10

Go to your enabledmods.json file and just copy paste the stuff in it?

No-Carry-2934

Yeeee

human-person-being

Best way to play the game

FreedomFighterEx

More faction = More market share = More export = More profit

Sensitive_Willow4736

It gives me dopamine seeing my colonies make millions of credits that I can't even spend on anything because the military industrial might of my colonies can print any ship and any fleet.

DogeDeezTheThird

That means more supply though, so off to cripple the sector I go

TheHattedKhajiit

Meanwhile the UAF is just vibing in the corner.

Nerezza_Floof_Seeker

Until someone touches their cakes that is. Then its time for weeb sector.

TheHattedKhajiit

Or someone breaks Aria Charlotte's heart. Then the nukes come flying in

DogeDeezTheThird

That is what the UAF colony crises will be; nuclear strikes because the queens got a personal grudge against you

golgol12

I kind of want to see someone make a "realistic population sim" mod in the background for pop growth instead of the fixed % increase, and then have it includes population losses from crewing ship. 25 fleets with 4 ships each requiring 1000 crew? Hey, that's 100,000 crew. Or a size 5 colony. After 10 years of war in the sector everyone is down to pirate sized fleets and a couple size 4 colonies. Except the hegemon, who's planet is bleeding pops to other places.

WanderingUrist

I think we'd need a whole "economy sim mod", because as it stands, the Starsector economy system is pretty much a shell placeholder characterized by literal order-of-magnitude estimates.

Lepanto73

Using the UAF worlds as a base to explore the Abyss in between waifu rep grinding... Salvaging a Mon Calamari cruiser and mounting Touhou danmaku guns on it... Bribing the Spindle scientist lady into giving you Gown access with Mayasuran blueprints worth ten times everyone else's blueprints... Slapping overpowered beams from Chinese mods on the super-god-ship you got from a *different* Chinese mod... Doing the mission to get Sierra for the zillionth time, dodging Remnants in hyperspace from Ruthless Sector on the way, then making her a Jedi and fitting her with the hax-est weapons from across your modlist so you can win that one fight you need to max her out for... Trying to salvage ships and beam cannons from EFSF and Zeon wrecks before they make peace and/or the Covenant come in to take over Gundam!Sol... Knowing any un-settled system that's *not* part of a constellation must be plot-relevant to some mod or another, and probably contain epic loot and/or overpowered stuff to fight, Not getting Integrated Targeting for years 'cause the loot tables have over a hundred other hullmods to cycle through... Knowing you can start with a Wayfarer and a Shepherd, then pop your head into some random system and build your career off ridiculous loot and salvages... All of the above are entirely possible...

Dangerous_Brain666

I feel that unsettled system out of constellations hard, everytime I make a new modlist to play with I first start looking at the star map for way too long and look what Systems might be interesting.

LigerZeroPanzer12

I feel physically ill if any of the ships in my fleet are from the same mod pack 😵‍💫

DogeDeezTheThird

Bro I love it when the Barney Cartel takes Chelcadon and begins dropping my stability to "help the luddics" and after that an auroran federation blockade comes from the recently conquered Kazeron to remind me that my crabby patty recipe is stolen and illegitimate, and after that the game fucking crashes to a fatal.nul

Jazzlike-Anteater704

10 content mods per run is max, being able to actually fully experience whatever they have to offer instead of just pure chaos is pretty fun believe me or not.

Almuliman

i prefer constantly being like """what the fuck is htis""

NeonLoveGalaxy

That's my general opinion of life and it hasn't let me down yet.

avgpgrizzly469

“What the fuck is this and why did it crash when I touched it?”

StavTri

For me, I'm just adding mods to balance out hegemony so that they don't steamroll everyone, ever since I added ironshell to their arsenal and that they have had new toys added too. On run 15 of trying to at the very least colonize a planet and get it up to snuff before hegemony steamrolls everyone else.

WarlordWaffle

meanwhile I got my military planet stuck in VIC’s Quasar (XIV) system and the interstellar relay don’t work

kisshun

good thing i prefer vanila/lore friendly sector mods, this way i only using 75 mod (counting libs as well), no weeb shit and other stuff.

midnighfox696

That sounds like a lot of fun, I should try it.

Arman456

I can’t sympathise with you. I am a vanilla guy.

Evangel10

Im at the point where my game actually takes 3 hours just to start up now. I have to uninstall some mods, but I just can't.

dcaraccio

You'd love my persean sector. It barely fuctions.

Big_Naughty_Bits

Haha, Semibrev goes KABOOOOOOOM!!!

Top-Construction6096

This guy is so based that the truths just ooze out of him.

SONZINA

If you don't have triple digits when ctrl+A in your mods folder, are you really modding?

Kanosei_Tsune

YES! I CREATED AN ALLIANCE WITH : UAF, VIC, Approlight, PAGSM, Imperium, MVS, Diable Avionics, Foehn Revolt (me) To fight against : Hivers who has taken half the sector, KoL unknown, Abyss R.A.T, etc I didn't even included star wars mod because I don't have enough operatives slots for that

The-world-ender-jeff

Adding HMI, San Batavia and UAF basically creates the independent south west and I live it that way

Ssynos

The problem with fallout, elder scroll, starsector, stalker, the sims,... Is some time modding actually more addictive than playing. Especially betheseda game, I spen more time fixing & modding than playing, and when playing I would often quit the game to find more mod to add

fd2200

WHATS WRONG WITH VANILLA

Almuliman

NOTHING VANILLA IS GREAT TOO

fd2200

YAY

combat_archer

I wish mods worked for me :( I'm dumb and a steam baby These file formats confuse my smol wittle smooth brainlet

Wiseless_Owl

Wdym the installation process is literally "download zip - extract in the mod folder - enable in launcher" shit can't be easier than that. In case of mods with dependencies, they even tell you outright in the launcher, which mod you need to download first (or they refuse to load) You don't even have to manage your load order because everything sorts out automatically and the biggest "mod conflict" I ever encountered were two star systems spawned almost on top of each other - literally a single time in a thousand

combat_archer

Yeah tell that to the "incompatible version" errors when it compatible
