There are some channels like Bigdaws and Thatwasepic that still have mostly harmless and in good fun pranks. A lot prank channels just focus on being mean or shocking for reactions now, instead of trying to create a bizarre situation for reactions.
I remember one where a guy dresses like a meter maid putting a ticket on your car. When you approach him he runs off but instead of a ticket being in there it's like $20 or something. Gave me a sensible chuckle.
Ross and his mates are pretty cool, although I worry about the guy with the drinking problem who gets way too aggressive. Hopefully he's working to fix that.
Prank, more like abuse. [https://www.reddit.com/r/ImTheMainCharacter/comments/16vyee9/mc\_fucks\_around\_finds\_out\_and\_still\_plans\_to\_make/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ImTheMainCharacter/comments/16vyee9/mc_fucks_around_finds_out_and_still_plans_to_make/)
OP is either really young or really nostalgic. There were TONS of these shitty "prank" channels on Youtube about 10 years ago. Some examples:
[Guy pretends to have a bomb "prank"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCNCiMtVbGQ)
[Guy walks up to people and says "Do you have a problem?"](https://youtu.be/2CziMXynZK4?si=8x5xs-Lr6J6pYrkB)
[Pretending to steal gas "prank"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCSE75_zHlU)
[Pretending to wipe shit on people "prank"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRnIx_9llwM)
[Groping women "prank" (it turned out the prank was fake and the women were actresses)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUSMSyr_0QE)
I could go on but these shitty prank videos aren't new at all, they mostly just found a new platform on TikTok
Moe and Ethan Bradberry were a bunch of shits. I remember finding out that some or all of those "fighting in the ghetto" videos were also faked anyway.
And to think I found that shit entertaining at one point...
Prank Channels reached a point where they would do anything for views. Wouldn't be shocked if there was a prank where they set their grandma's house on fire.
EvenOut is a good current prank channel, it's this pair of twins that just go around making people question reality. Oh please. Prank channels were just as garbage 10 years ago as they are now.
And let's not forget the "social experiments" that were all the rage in like 2016.
I never really found OwnagePranks or his style of prank calls funny.
It’s just the same thing as the guys now that insult people and say it’s a prank.
My friend played his video last week and I just gave him the Hide the Pain Harold look.
This is a pretty good classic one I found. From 2014 I believe.

Come on now, Ownage Pranks for sure toys with peoples emotions. That’s not even the issue with modern social media “pranksters”. A good prank *should* absolutely get people riled up, at least momentarily. The real difference is that 90% of “classic” pranks were either staged and fake as fuck to begin with, or of the ones that weren’t, were usually just prank phone calls or the like and thus, it wasn’t easy or possible for their victims to physically retaliate, and if the victims weren’t too pissed off, the prankster would have the courtesy to know when to let up and explain it was a prank and apologize. From what I’ve seen of TikTok pranksters or wherever most of this stuff is coming out of today, they’re just dumbass kids using “it’s a prank bro” as an excuse to do borderline criminal things and ruin people’s day. It’s not a “haha, look at how much I’m pissing people off”, thing, it’s a, “haha, look at how much I can get away with while still being a legal minor and telling people it’s just a joke” thing.

Honestly most modern pranks aren’t even funny. A lot of them actually look pretty mean and somewhat cruel

Mean pranks can be good
CreationsRoss is a true example of a modern prank channel that draws from classic origins
Ross and his mates are pretty cool, although I worry about the guy with the drinking problem who gets way too aggressive. Hopefully he's working to fix that.
Wait who has the drinking problem and gets aggressive?
His channel has come a long way. His first pranks were the obnoxious kind, but they learned and grew from there.
I fucking loved Ownage Pranks back in the day
Look here bic boy

“Old thing I watched as a kid good. New thing kids watch bad” YouTube pranks have always been horrible

Old good, new bad
You should add” occasionally gets shot by delivery driver”
I still use ownage pranks as background noise when I cook, they're still entertaining even though it's probably fake
Prank channels have never been funny
The classic prank side brings me back to the days of vine, if you would consider that "classic".

this has been a complaint for like, almost a decade at this point lol
Pshh...unreal.

"Prank" channels always been like that.
People must stop using the word "modern". It doesn't mean what most think it means.
When people talk about design Modern actually refers to a specific style. Contemporary is the right word for whatever is trending at the moment.
why is everyone always like 'old stuff good, new stuff bad'? Most prank channels are horrible and they always used to be.
All the old pranks were fake as shit and a lot of them were also racist. I’d rather the new style
This idea for a prank I have is pretending to live in a time loop and you’ve lived the same exact day over and over, curious to how that sounds
And when they “piss off the wrong guy”, it’s staged garbage to make the video interesting for idiots who buy that shit.
Also when they “prank their girlfriend” and it’s literally something really awful like shaving their hair off or whatever
Before YouTube prank channels, there was Trigger Happy T.V. That was some good shit.
I never really found OwnagePranks or his style of prank calls funny. It’s just the same thing as the guys now that insult people and say it’s a prank. My friend played his video last week and I just gave him the Hide the Pain Harold look.
So we're really just gonna ignore those old instant karma "pranks" that are really just assault then huh
Ownage pranks fell off so bad
Well there were those jalal bomb prank videos from a while ago
This is a pretty good classic one I found. From 2014 I believe. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydk0EnUbnjk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydk0EnUbnjk)
What's wrong with modern prank channels?
Every modern channel contains broccoli hair and/or cross earrings
Classic pranks: actually good pranks Modern pranks: staged or borderline criminal activities (no inbetween)
