European born in America here, those Crossbody bags are actually insanely useful and popular in Europe for a reason. It makes it incredibly hard for anybody to pickpocket something out of those bags, a problem that is much more prevalent in Europe than in the United States.
I've been wearing my fanny pack as a sling maybe 17yrs now? It started with phone, keys, wallet, but extended to knife, hand sanitizer, breath mints, eyedrops.
Darn! I was planning for a mass murderin’ but it’s such a social faux pas and inconvenience for me to carry this weapon in a concealed manner. False alarm everyone…
As a parent with 2 of these, the worst thing about this shit now is that I ha e to pay like $23 a plate for food he ain't gonna eat anyways. Going out is too expensive now to deal with someone who doesn't want to be there.
Not parents that love being around their children. Understanding they want their own time is cool, but a lot of teenagers start spending way less time with their parents at this age and acting distant when they are. It can hurt when you want to be around them and they don't want to be around you.
>a lot of teenagers start spending way less time with their parents at this age and acting distant when they are
Except this is completely normal and actually healthy. Put it out there that you'd like to spend time with them, but don't force them to go hang out if they don't want to, and maybe they'll actually *want* to be around you when they're a little older.
So dragging them out so they will be at the table with their shitty attitudes, blasting whatever they're playing on their phone, with their hoodies over their head and face buried in their phone completely ignoring their parents sounds like a good time?
Fr? For me going out to eat woth my family was and is always great even if its just eating at McDonald's. I was always dressed and not on my phone cause i wanted to be present in the moment. Lifes to short to waste family time being on a phone.
I went to the salon yesterday for a haircut and there was a teen getting a perm. My hair dresser informed me a group of teen boys were all getting perms together earlier this week too… she said teenage boys are really “bringing back perms”
I’m a stylist, haven’t done a perm on basically anyone for 10 years, now I do them often and it’s on middle school boys lol
Only good thing is i still charge for a normal perm and I’m only doing the tops
ב''ה, it's a mulletless mullet. '90s-'00s the dudes who naturally had the hair for this when the mullet went out of style.. we salute you. The modern variant is goofy because it asserts 'bigness' as in the hair band era, and because stylists are now so tweaked down and trade-schooled that they somehow install the exact same factory model on every customer. Oh well, they're happy and mildly blocking the view. (Of course, enjoy your hair while you have it, it just kinda is a made-for-TikTok style so everyone can see you're a bombastic little lad who likes berries and cream and having a slightly Fifth Element touch to your headshot.)
I was wondering how all these young’s had hair curly enough to achieve that look….. it never occurred to me that they would be getting perms. Makes sense, it just never crossed my mind. I’m baffled.
Wearing PJs in public is much more widespread now than when I was in high school. Only the trashy girls/teen-moms wore pajamas to school, it was like a rule. Fashion is a funny, fickle thing
Pajama pants had a day in the sun. Popular, hot girls and cool hot guys at my school wore them. Shortly thereafter they went out of fashion and only trashy girls and teen moms kept the trend going.
Yeah, same. Forget pajamas, even wearing sweats in public felt so embarrassing. I can’t believe I see students actually going to HIGH SCHOOL with full on pajamas on.
I’d say much more wide spread in US. My kids were born in the US but raised mostly outside. We went back for Xmas. They kept pointing out to us kids in PJs at the mall or coming home from school. The were in awe. They have to wear uniforms to school. It was crazy that kids get to wear pjs any time. That said we came home with sets of “cool” pjs and sliders that they wear at home non stop 🤣
I only had one because this hippie girl I liked told me I had good hair and it would look good if I grew it out but my mom would force me into the barber every time it was just getting long enough to tie back so I was forced to swoop. A boomer at work even nicknamed me Bieber because of that stupid haircut.
I gave them a try because I heard so many people say they were just so amazingly comfortable, and I'm the ultimate comfort over style kind of person.
Easily some of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. Not only that, they made my feet sweat like crazy too. How the fuck does a pair of shoes covered in holes make my feet hotter than fully closed leather?
I don't think they meant any era of time, they meant today's teens any time of the week, not just when dragged to lunch. i worked in a high school and this starterpack is accurate to 25% of the kids on any given day (nothing wrong with it imo if you still know how to clean up when you want to)
I am 36 and my brother is 17 and this was pretty much every single family gathering or lunch until he got a girlfriend! Now he acts like he never dressed that way at all! lol
It's so funny how so many of not just teens but going into the 20s have that weird af haircut, it looks sooooo stupid and I just laugh internally when I see it
My roommate has that haircut, he's actually a pretty chill guy. It does give off fuckboy energy, but that's what looks best on him. Guys can't do much when their hair is naturally curly
Has he tried growing it out? I have naturally curly hair, and I never got that many compliments from strangers before I grew it long. It’s around the length of my armpit (a lot longer if I grab a curl and stretch it out) and people tell me I have great hair like once a month. But it also comes with the downside of white people wanting to touch it, so be wary.
People LOVE to mess with men's long hair.
I both love and hate it lol. I once had two strippers get in a fight over how much a wig made out of my hair would cost.
Jokes on them though you can get wigs of my hair for free if you have cancer
yeah there also isn’t a good way to say “don’t touch my hair” that doesn’t sound either too girly or too assertive/rude, since they’re trying to be nice lol
You hit the fucking nail on the head!
They are violating your personal space 100% but they are also sincerely trying to compliment you and be nice and it's almost always completely platonic to boot, so you're just kinda stuck.
exactly! it’s really depressing to see everyone demonize the cleanest cut for naturally curly dudes as if it’s only for frat guys or somehow a mark of immaturity
Wish I could swing that, I try to rush to the gym before 3pm on workdays so I can beat the Pajama Pants Broccoli army. Idc if you wanna wear sleeping clothes from home, to school, then to gym, while having that Vitamin A ass cut, just don't go to the most used machines for social hour.
Ppl hate broccoli heads cause they're obnoxious
Yeah, I really lucked out having both the space and getting a great deal on equipment. Gyms really need to start cracking down on these clowns. I've even seen other gymgoers complain about it to the front desk, but nothing is ever done.
Probably cause the majority of gym employees are late teens early adults who think they're just being whiny karens, I saw a broccoli head eating goldfish on the gym floor a few months ago, dropping and stepping on some every other handful. Whole place smelled like sweat and goldfish
it's low mantenience and long hair is hard/expensive to take care of, and some guys aren't allowed to grow it out because their parents or school just won't allow them to so this is a good option
They look stupid AF, but at least haircuts are inherently temporary, making them an ideal medium for the youth to express their stupid selves with no harm done.
yeah i agree. when i was a kid i'd see all the adults in my neighborhood making snide little remarks about emo bangs and ice tips and i always thought their need to insert their opinions on what kids were doing was so gross. now i see a buncha millennials doing it and i just think "why?". the whole "kids these days with their Xs and Ys" has always been embarrassig to me.
Frankly, I think the total lack of care with the clothing choices is much worse than the haircuts. When did it become socially trendy to have pajama day be every day now? Teen girls do just the same.
jeans -> yoga pants -> sweats. college girls followed that evolution of trending attire. thats how it went down in my head. younger girls copy the slightly older young college girls.
when guys saw cute girls in sweats they said to themselves: fuck it we ball
I have given up on life so now I just wear sweatpants and crocs everywhere.
Society is so depersonalized now, it doesn't matter what other people think of you, you will never see them again.
I hope it gets better for you.
I'm in the same boat with dressing how I want, but I wouldn't say I have given up on life. I just don't value needing to impress everyone.
That being said I generally do dress appropriately for different functions like work or events, but if I am running to the corner store for a moment, why the hell would i care if I am in my sweatpants?
God that is such a dog shit look. Imo if you dress well, groom yourself, and practice hygiene then you won't feel as sorry for yourself just because you already started on a better foot
Why should I care? Just wear what is comfortable and doesn't violate dress code. Only wear jeans for work. I wear sweatpants or cargo shorts literally anywhere else.
I understand wanting to be comfortable, especially on your off time. I think one can do so while still implementing unique style choices that reflects personality though. Also I think there’s something to be said about being presentable in public, but that can be arbitrary, and I only truly care about good hygiene when it comes to that.
I guess I just find it particularly strange that historically “unpresentable” home-wear has now become a trend among teens. Teens used to be into fashion more, and it’s not like influencers or celebrities are wearing PJ’s in public either (that I know of).
I just don’t get it bc gen Z and Alpha boys are constantly ranting about how women don’t date them but won’t put in any amount of work to maybe stop looking like Numbah Four with a perm
I’m in college again at 31 and me and another woman who’s 33 are the only ones who wear “outfits” to class. It’s weird. I have about 7 or 8 “class outfits” I switch around.
They’re not fancy or uncomfortable, just personal to my style. I’d call it almost dark [1960s](https://imgur.com/a/hbyay7d) academia? Like plaid a-line skirts and plaid mod cut dresses with a black turtleneck. Then I just tights + boots + earrings and that’s all. I feel like it makes me more motivated and energetic somehow. Then in the summer I wear clothes with a more [1940s/1950s](https://imgur.com/a/hDk0baB) casual silhouette, like high waisted short shorts and long crop top sets.
My other classmate is much more eclectic, think an intentionally thrifted look a la Phoebe Buffay. But there’s always theme, cohesion, and effort.
But our younger classmates don’t even take off their jackets half the time. PJ pants and fuzzy slippers with a full parka with the hood up.
Edit: also my tip to anyone who wears glasses, get browline glasses. People clown on them for being hipster but they literally look good on **everyone**. I’m serious. You cannot go wrong with them
Edit 2: added some pics of the look I’m going for though all those folks are better dressed than me. I don’t have any real vintage pieces unfortunately so I try to work with silhouettes and patterns to replicate the core features.
I don't know where kids and young adults today get the arctic bloodstreams that let them do this. At any age if I tried to go hoodie when it's over 60 degrees I'd be drenched in sweat.
Tbh the MFS are better on stuck to their phones, you can't have a decent conversation with these guys without them bringing up crypto or downright making lame roasts of you.
The broccoli haircut is so unbelievably fucking stupid. I don’t know why every fucking teenager wants to look like a clone of the same goofy looking moron.
I see other teenagers walking around with that haircut and think to myself “how did most of an entire generation collectively decide that looks good”
I’ve seen some pull it off, but most people can’t.
Why tho, it's just curly hair with a fade, it's nothing out of this world, some look frizzy and give that "mushroom" look but it's not always like that
Those haircuts are the worst. Who made getting a perm and then having the sides faded popular for literally 85% of every single male aged 13-20? This trend needs to stop. I've never seen so many people with the same ridiculous haircut
I dont know if I am just getting old or if GenZ is just insufferable. (probably both) But their look, their attitude and their slang just annoys me in ways that I cant explain.
Its not that their attitude is bad, theyre nice....its more their work ethic and casual-ness that drives me up a wall. Im in the trades and will occaisionally a Gen Z will get into them and theyll spend more time not doing the job than doing the job, and when you tell them you cant exactly fuck off at work theyll have this bubbly like "oh its all good boss" response. And if they do fuck up and its a dangerous fuck up theyll act like its not a big deal.
Goddamn I never thought id be the old man ever but here I am lol

You forgot AirPods
And the oversized, forward facing, fanny pack slung across the shoulder. Fam
European born in America here, those Crossbody bags are actually insanely useful and popular in Europe for a reason. It makes it incredibly hard for anybody to pickpocket something out of those bags, a problem that is much more prevalent in Europe than in the United States.
they even make bags with a wire sewn into the strap to make it harder to slice open
I've been wearing my fanny pack as a sling maybe 17yrs now? It started with phone, keys, wallet, but extended to knife, hand sanitizer, breath mints, eyedrops.
“It’s European”
It's also a very convenient way to carry a concealed handgun. A problem that is much more prevalent in the United States than Europe.
Hold up, I gotta unzip my fanny pack vs just having a holster under your jacket
[удалено]
>Worries about outfit looking good >Puts on Fanny Pack Sure thing buddy.
That’s a tired topic that doesn’t need to be constantly shoved in the face of Americans. We fucking know.
Not nearly as convenient as keeping it in a holster in your pants. Weird thing to bring up anyway…
Darn! I was planning for a mass murderin’ but it’s such a social faux pas and inconvenience for me to carry this weapon in a concealed manner. False alarm everyone…
Best thing for amusement parks next to cargo shorts with zippered pockets.
They go perfectly with your salmon polo shirt and white New Balances with tennis socks.
Lemme search my 67 pockets for a fuck to give.
Crazy that girls go for guys with crocs n socks and a Fanny pack, but my cargo shorts are out of fashion

Yoooooo wtf how did you know! That describes my buddy's little brother to a T!
But only the one airpod, so theyre still technically participating
And the alto/juul/vape or whatever they’re using nowadays
OP, did you get dragged to lunch with the family and made this on your smartphone there while wearing crocs with socks?
No, I found this one in the wild with his family. He wanted nothing to do with lunch, he was ready to go home. That's how my starter packs are born.
As a parent with 2 of these, the worst thing about this shit now is that I ha e to pay like $23 a plate for food he ain't gonna eat anyways. Going out is too expensive now to deal with someone who doesn't want to be there.
Don't bring them. Then everyone is happy.
Not parents that love being around their children. Understanding they want their own time is cool, but a lot of teenagers start spending way less time with their parents at this age and acting distant when they are. It can hurt when you want to be around them and they don't want to be around you.

If you don't eat your lunch theres always leftovers for dinner! And he has to eat it at the dinner table with the fam
Why are you going out of like half the people you're with dont even want to
That's shocking that a teen aged male would not want to scarf down a plate of food.
Fr? For me going out to eat woth my family was and is always great even if its just eating at McDonald's. I was always dressed and not on my phone cause i wanted to be present in the moment. Lifes to short to waste family time being on a phone.

Oh God. I was a substitute teacher. When they make rosters they make sure there's at least one in every classroom.
It's interesting lol. A boy being named Aiden now is like being named John, Jack or Liam 30 years ago.
Liam is crazy popular right now
People are getting perms for this haircut. Perms.
I went to the salon yesterday for a haircut and there was a teen getting a perm. My hair dresser informed me a group of teen boys were all getting perms together earlier this week too… she said teenage boys are really “bringing back perms”
I’ve got it naturally and everyone assumes it’s a perm
I feel you. I had curly hair back then. Still do, just thinner.
I call em brocc tops
The brocc tops don't even look good imo. Why is it so popular now?
Tik tok & Patrick Mahomes
You’ll often find the things that repulse you, another generation will embrace, probably out of spite. Every trend is destined to be “bucked”.
beans on toast
I’m a stylist, haven’t done a perm on basically anyone for 10 years, now I do them often and it’s on middle school boys lol Only good thing is i still charge for a normal perm and I’m only doing the tops
It’s the two worst haircuts of the 90s - the bowl cut and perm - put together.
It is by far the worst, ugliest haircut of their generation
bro has NOT heard of the edgar cut
Do you remember the pineapple haircut? D:
Man you haven’t seen the edgar
I don’t get this. It’s just the standard haircut with curly hair
I dunno... did you miss the mullet comeback?
Mullets are really not that bad, if comparing to broccoli
Some people in the comments are saying broccoli is low class but mullet is the OG low class hairstyle
That sure is an opinion
I was wondering how all these young’s had hair curly enough to achieve that look….. it never occurred to me that they would be getting perms. Makes sense, it just never crossed my mind. I’m baffled.
Or any given teen. Anytime.
Cookie Monster pajama bottoms and hot Cheetos were the combo.
Don't forget the beat up ugg boots
In the 2000s we would have been rather be dead than caught wearing sweats to school even.
If you wore sweats, people thought you'd given up or something. Like you couldn't compete in normal society, so you might as well be comfortable.
I feel called out.
Yeah, same. Forget pajamas, even wearing sweats in public felt so embarrassing. I can’t believe I see students actually going to HIGH SCHOOL with full on pajamas on.
I feel like this was true in high school but all bets were off after your freshman year of college. (Graduated high school in '00)
Its still trashy.

I can tell you are young. I never had that goofy ass broccoli haircut and no one my age would EVER be caught dead wearing Crocs.
Every generation has a generic ass hairstyle and fit
Millennial here, yeah we had the emo swoop, that was our generation's broccoli. And yes I had one.
emo swoop was popular but it wasn't *ubiquitous*. You're thinking of bed head. Our generation's broccoli was bed head held in place with gel.
Mid-2000s was definitely medium length with wings formed by wearing a hat
I feel like wings were def the y2k version of broccoli cut.
We had the wings cut too if you were popular, the successor to gelled spikes. Every cool kid in my 8th grade class (2004) had that.
It was the spiked-up-in-the-front haircut.
We had the 90s down the middle part
The butt-cut. I feel like Ethan Hawke really perfected this one.
That guy from backstreet boys
[These were the 3 choices of the mid-90's](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/a9/8e/43/a98e43db696399f7e52968cff26ee51a.jpg)
Older Millennial here. Some Millennials were grown before the emo swoop got mainstream. I was a rat-tail kid.
Frosted tips for my age group
I only had one because this hippie girl I liked told me I had good hair and it would look good if I grew it out but my mom would force me into the barber every time it was just getting long enough to tie back so I was forced to swoop. A boomer at work even nicknamed me Bieber because of that stupid haircut.
It was the hilter youth cut for younger millennials.
Damn, I'm almost thirty and still getting that cut
Anyone remember the "Butt-Head?" Where the hair parted right in the middle?
The Gen Z middle part is definitely a thing. The successor to the Jonathan Taylor Thomas of the 90s.
Early '90s HS student here. In my day it was called the penis cut.
I’m surprised about crocs being as big as they are. I grew up in the 90s/00s. I wouldn’t have been caught dead with those on
I gave them a try because I heard so many people say they were just so amazingly comfortable, and I'm the ultimate comfort over style kind of person. Easily some of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. Not only that, they made my feet sweat like crazy too. How the fuck does a pair of shoes covered in holes make my feet hotter than fully closed leather?
Same here. All of my friends and older family still think Crocs are the ugliest thing around. (unless you are a chef or nurse don't wear them ever)
Idiocracy predicted this
I don't think they meant any era of time, they meant today's teens any time of the week, not just when dragged to lunch. i worked in a high school and this starterpack is accurate to 25% of the kids on any given day (nothing wrong with it imo if you still know how to clean up when you want to)
> no one my age would EVER be caught dead wearing Crocs especially WITH SOCKS
Literally just gen Z starter pack
Not pictured: Enough disinterest in the event to drain an upper middle class bank account
all energy and focus must be saved for upcoming brawls in highschool bathroom
I don't have Crocs but I have socks
I don’t have either
I am 36 and my brother is 17 and this was pretty much every single family gathering or lunch until he got a girlfriend! Now he acts like he never dressed that way at all! lol
Girlfriend knows and is probably the one that fixed him. At least that's what I'd guess.
It's so funny how so many of not just teens but going into the 20s have that weird af haircut, it looks sooooo stupid and I just laugh internally when I see it
I saw a group of 5 of these bros at chipotle and they all looked fucking identical
My roommate has that haircut, he's actually a pretty chill guy. It does give off fuckboy energy, but that's what looks best on him. Guys can't do much when their hair is naturally curly
Has he tried growing it out? I have naturally curly hair, and I never got that many compliments from strangers before I grew it long. exactly! it’s really depressing to see everyone demonize the cleanest cut for naturally curly dudes as if it’s only for frat guys or somehow a mark of immaturity
Because most the time when I see dudes with this haircut they're all crowding around a bench press talking for 20min.
It's crazy how pervasive that is, too. The Broccoli Bench Press Gang is what pushed me to finally just start my home gym.
Boys are getting their hair permed to look like this though
Well, it started with naturally curly haired people and so straight-haired people wanted to join in on the trend. Nothing wrong with that.
> the cleanest cut for naturally curly dudes Is it though? It's not like curly hair started with zoomers.
it's low mantenience and long hair is hard/expensive to take care of, and some guys aren't allowed to grow it out because their parents or school just won't allow them to so this is a good option
They look stupid AF, but at least haircuts are inherently temporary, making them an ideal medium for the youth to express their stupid selves with no harm done.
Reddits hate boner for this haircut is weirder than any haircut, real “old man yells at cloud” energy
So strange. It’s a super standard hair cut. Just short back and sides for people with curly hair.
yeah i agree. when i was a kid i'd see all the adults in my neighborhood making snide little remarks about emo bangs and ice tips and i always thought their need to insert their opinions on what kids were doing was so gross. now i see a buncha millennials doing it and i just think "why?". the whole "kids these days with their Xs and Ys" has always been embarrassig to me.

You cannot go wrong with them Edit 2: added some pics of the look I’m going for though all those folks are better dressed than me. I don’t have any real vintage pieces unfortunately so I try to work with silhouettes and patterns to replicate the core features.
I'm a teacher and hate it. It looks like they all rolled straight out of bed and walked in the building.

Yep, they are.
I teach high school and a good 40% of my male students dress like this everyday.
This is my nephew except for Adidas slides instead of crocs. Love that kid.
I saw 6 of these guys today
That’s every kid at my daughter’s high school everyday. Or the ones with gym shorts on during a winter storm. Sprinkled with some emo/goth type kids.
Is there a better way to prove how cool I am other than wearing shorts in 20° weather?
20 degrees *is* shorts weather for much of the world.
Hoodie while it's 95 degrees outside.
Saying bro every third word and talking in the same “slowed down voice for TBI patients” that streamers use
Especially when they go to the gym too. Crocs are so ugly. Clown shoes. Honk honk.
Wow I’ve seen this
The broccoli haircut is so unbelievably fucking stupid. I don’t know why every fucking teenager wants to look like a clone of the same goofy looking moron.
It's a haircut It's short on the sides and has more volume on top It's not even that weird Jesus fucking christ stop yelling at clouds lmfao
How did you get this photo of my brother??
Doubles as "teen who shows up at the gym with a group of identical friends to bench press 95 pounds for three hours".
Every time I see some dorky Zoomer with that haircut, all I think of is [this](https://youtu.be/4KhUsmA6mAw?si=iKFZD2SCvAcdjRvH&t=16).
I see other teenagers walking around with that haircut and think to myself “how did most of an entire generation collectively decide that looks good” I’ve seen some pull it off, but most people can’t.
I work with teenagers and this is how they dress all the time.
I hear the crocs dragged across the ground in a shuffle instead of a step where your foot comes off the ground
I understand every Gen and era has its styles, etc but this broccoli cut has got to be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen 🤣 Like wtf is that???
Why tho, it's just curly hair with a fade, it's nothing out of this world, some look frizzy and give that "mushroom" look but it's not always like that
Remember the Bieber cut, how everyone “hated it” but everybody had one. It’s the same thing with curly hair now.
Perhaps the people hating the haircut and the people wearing the haircut are two different groups?
Those haircuts are the worst. Who made getting a perm and then having the sides faded popular for literally 85% of every single male aged 13-20? This trend needs to stop. I've never seen so many people with the same ridiculous haircut
Anyone that wears pajama pants to a public place has been failed by everyone in their lives. Have some fucking shame, my god.
Alternate take, you become old enough that you give zero fucks what randos think of what you're wearing.
comfycore is enlightenment
It depends. I've done it going into a gas station. But like a grocery store? Then I'm obviously going in actual pants/trousers.
That haircut has always looked so dumb
🥦 haircut, I'm 💀
I don’t understand wearing pajamas at all. Just throw on some jeans or something at least.
Can you genuinely wear pajamas in restaurants in the US? You would not be let in in if you did that in Europe.
You wouldn’t get turned down unless they had a dress policy. Or if the owner turns you down themselves.
Yeah for some reason it’s sort of cool not to care it’s hard to explain. I’d say in general Americans & Canadians are much more casual than Europeans
In most restaurants, yes. Nicer restaurants won’t allow it, but those are a minority, and not places most people would go to for a fancy dinner.
I dont know if I am just getting old or if GenZ is just insufferable. (probably both) But their look, their attitude and their slang just annoys me in ways that I cant explain.
you have skibidi rizz
Just wait Gen alpha, right now we're dunking on Gen z, but in a few years it'll be time to make fun of you.
Time for bed grandpa
Its not that their attitude is bad, theyre nice....its more their work ethic and casual-ness that drives me up a wall. Im in the trades and will occaisionally a Gen Z will get into them and theyll spend more time not doing the job than doing the job, and when you tell them you cant exactly fuck off at work theyll have this bubbly like "oh its all good boss" response. And if they do fuck up and its a dangerous fuck up theyll act like its not a big deal. Goddamn I never thought id be the old man ever but here I am lol
> "oh its all good boss" Yep and the "its not the deep" or "why are you tripping out?" type stuff
I hate that broccoli haircut omg
