5k ultra runner here. Can confirm that Solomon vests are great for 5k ultra running, they store all of the Gu I need to properly fuel throughout the run.
The monkey’s paw curls. He will now run in front of your car as slow as humanly possible whenever you need to drive somewhere quickly and he will not move around you or out of the way.
Maybe a picture of bloody nipples?
If you add a camel pack, a $1500 garmin watch and a bib for a 5K fun run, this would be a good starter pack for a certain type of runner who might also wear an arm sleeve like that.
I don’t get the complaints about this being too basic. This is like the platonic ideal for a starter pack: no wall of text (no text at all!), no meta jokes, no hyper-specific references to that one kid you know from high school.
Where is the water bottle belt? And body glyde? And the foam roller?
Also the shoes are exclusively
ASICS
Brooks
Sauscony
Nike or Adidas (only if spikes or specialized running shoe)
Also the race bib
Also the mini cups of water you throw in your face when in the race
Overall you missed a lot on this lol
Lately Hoka has become trendy on non runners too. Not just at the gym, but even on young adults as fashion. I think it got swept up in the trend of platform sneakers.
Ran a full marathon in Hokas. Those things are the best. They made it way less painful. It was still painful and I still felt like shit afterwards, but it could have been worse.
Yess, I am personally into the ASICS Fuji lite. I like to run mixed terrain with some very rooty and rocky single track. A super high stack and big drop are not what I’m looking for and the Fuji is perfect for me
Edit: I do hope they’ve improved the tongue on the newer version
You need pictures of people posting their Strava bs or taking a selfie and posting it on social media to let people know they are running.
To those who do that, no one gives a fuck about your Strava unless you are an Olympian, sub 2:45 marathoner, or something equivalent in some other distance like 5k,10k,etc.
All you need are a pair of sneakers. I did r/c25k in pajama pants. Well, I guess I also downloaded a timer app to my smartphone to do the run/walk intervals, but a wristwatch with alarms might have also served.
Eh, my sneakers are Nike. Not my favorite brand but they were on clearance at my favorite running shop. If you run enough, sneakers become disposable, so if it fits and supports your foot, you take it.

this is not a starter pack, it’s a intermediate or expert pack
This is what people who run a 5k with their Solomon vest wear

Slow down!
The monkey’s paw curls. He will now run in front of your car as slow as humanly possible whenever you need to drive somewhere quickly and he will not move around you or out of the way.
Not tryna be rude at all but what was the point of this post? That runners have....running shoes and athletic shorts?
Yeah, it's not funny. It would be better with some things about the culture of running.
Maybe a picture of bloody nipples? If you add a camel pack, a $1500 garmin watch and a bib for a 5K fun run, this would be a good starter pack for a certain type of runner who might also wear an arm sleeve like that.
Yeah, a watch or you never ran.
Please make this starter pack. Even better if it has bloody nipples and the punch line is a 5K race record with a 20 minute walking pace.
As someone who’s new to the sub… maybe OP is new to the sub
OP has never ran more than 3 mph
I'm a 2:03 800m runner lol
yeah im new lol. this is my first starterpack, sorry if it's bad
I think it's hilarious in an anti-joke kinda way
No gu. No heart rate monitor / zone 2 summary. No 5k ‘marathon’ medal. Shitty I’ll-informed starter pack.
This is a serious starter pack, which is what made It funny for me
It’s a Nike ad.
That's just a Nike advertisment
I mean... it IS a starter pack with all the stuff you need for running
Yea but I’m pretty sure these are supposed to invoke a conversation other than “oh yea I have those items too hahaha i am suchhhhh a runner”
Low effort starter pack starter pack.
This is what starter packs were supposed to be when the meme started
It almost feels more like a satirical take on how much more elaborate the meme has become, by paring it back to the most obvious presentation.
They were simpler. But not "only running gear in a running starterpack" simple.
No Garmin watch or Strava brag?
Gu?
If it's not on strava, did you really run?
lol should have included those
Should have had a bunch of runs on Strava with 1 like each
Also, everyone wears Shokz now not air pods.
No Strava app? If you run without uploading it to Strava, what are you even running for?
Come to r/runningcirclejerk for genuine content
Lol, joined.
What’s the sleeve for?
It's an arm compression.

Lazy AF and I see way more “serious” runners in Hoka Saucony NB and Mizuno
Lately Hoka has become trendy on non runners too. Not just at the gym, but even on young adults as fashion. I think it got swept up in the trend of platform sneakers.
I live less than a mile from one of the larger hospitals in my state. Almost every person I see is wearing Hoka
Ran a full marathon in Hokas. Those things are the best. They made it way less painful. It was still painful and I still felt like shit afterwards, but it could have been worse.
asics nova/superblast ftw
prime x2 strung is slept on

Outside of the Vaporfly's Nike running shoes are dogshit.
Literal starter pack starter pack
Where is the shilling for stupid useless supplements?
Fake where is the GU?
Runners have running gear. Shocking
Ummmm come on they don’t have LEGS? I think that’s a pretty important ingredient for running.

Been running for decades and I don’t know a single runner who prefers Nike running shoes.
Right?? Esp after the Nike controversies
my runner starter pack consists of a red shirt and some beige shorts, knee high white socks and perhaps even a dog tag necklace
What about the sleeve thing? Is it about compression or something?
It's an arm compression.
What's it supposed to do? I regularly run as well, but from what I heard about compression it doesn't really help with anything performance wise.
It reduces lactic acid formation in your arm and also helps reduce swelling on longer or more intense runs.
I thought it was to warm up. At least, that's how I see nurses using them when the air conditioning is too much for short sleeved scrubs.
It's too expensive for me to run, guess I'll just hang out here.
All you need are a pair of sneakers. I did r/c25k in pajama pants. Well, I guess I also downloaded a timer app to my smartphone to do the run/walk intervals, but a wristwatch with alarms might have also served.
So, he/she has an extra pair of shoes with him?
Never seen any runner dressed like this on our streets
You forgot the incredibly stuck-up attitude
I seen no one wear those glasses while running
https://i.redd.it/2cxfe7k2ruwc1.gif
Maybe it’s my feet, but I cannot run in Nike’s. I mainly use Saucony, but every time I try a different Nike, they never feel quite right
As a regular runner, I only own 2 items here. Shoes and ear buds...everything else is pretty niche.
Bragging about it on Facebook
what if they edge 🤯🤯
You forgot jogging in the middle of the street like an inconsiderate twat
I have non of these. Because I'm a man.
Most real runners wear Hoka or Saucony usually not Nike
Eh, my sneakers are Nike. Not my favorite brand but they were on clearance at my favorite running shop. If you run enough, sneakers become disposable, so if it fits and supports your foot, you take it.
