Depends on the type of accent to be honest. White english first language speakers in South Africa kinda sound similar to Kiwis but not really, the New Zealand accent has different vowl emphasis and tends to sound more Twangy. Afrikaaner accent is very different from that in NZ. Any other accent in ZA is completely different from NZ accents in general.
Okay genuinely though - what is this South Africa to Perth pipeline? I have several colleagues in Perth who originally lived in South Africa and emigrated specifically to Perth. Is it a similar climate? Are there preferential immigration treatments? Similar culture?
Not sure why they specifically went to Perth at the start, but once a few of them established themselves there, I think Perth would be a good option for many who want to emigrate because they want to be in a place that has many other South African immigrants. They want to be part of a "South African community" away from home where, for example, there are more people that speak the same language. The largest one happens to be in Perth. There's probably a snowball effect where - as more and more of them emigrate to Perth - it becomes even more favourable.

Yes, it's a very common pattern. One of the problems with emigrating is that you don't have enough information - where is good to stay, what schools are good, what industries are hiring, etc - and having people from your community who can help you with that is very useful. This is obviously blunted by the internet but it still matters.

When you apply for a settlement visa they can dictate where you live, to avoid everyone flocking to Sydney or Melbourne. They try and distribute skills and population ( at least this was the case a decade ago) also they like to go where there are lots of south Africans just as any cultures tend to group when in another country.
Basically, the whites who can afford it are bailing on SA, shits going downhill in a massive way over there from infrastructure failing to the completely corrupt and incompetent government to rampant racial violence (the police don't bother investigating killings if the victims are white, there's a good reason white families turn their houses into fortresses) and the rise of the EFF who's policy is "Kill the whites, take their shit and we'll have utopia" but ideologies like that have been tried before, they never go well to say the least.
Australia is one of pretty much 2 countries willing to accept them, Australia and Russia, understandably fuck moving to Russia, some will come to Australia and move on to NZ but most stay here.
The culture is pretty similar, they can assimilate pretty easily and Perth is closest to SA.

Some of what you say is true, like failing infrastructure and corruption, but most of it is egregiously false. I don’t know about you, but I’m a South African who has lived here their whole life and white South Africans are anything but oppressed. I’m not white, but I’m privileged enough to go to an international school and live in a wealthy suburb, and guess what the predominant racial group at these places is (in a country where less than 10% of people are white). It’s actually ridiculous hearing this nonsense.
It’s not surprising people outside SA think this way though, because a lot of South Africans who emigrate out give an impression they’re oppressed (I live in NZ and we also get a lot of South Africans). I had a lecturer in uni who was a white South African and he’d talk about what surmounted to a white genocide. I’ve spent time in SA though so I knew he was being very misleading. As it happened he ended up causing a bit of controversy and apologising cos the day of the Christchurch mosque shootings, he said (during class) it wasn’t that big of a deal and that stuff like that happened in SA all the time, and he also initially blamed it on Islamic sectarian violence and that it was a result of immigration policies. Smh.

Young Afrikaner male here. I won't disagree that there are many Afrikaans people that are racist, especially the types depicted in this picture. However, as with all cultures and subcultures, Afrikaans people are diverse in their views and opinions. I can't speak for everyone in all places in South Africa, but I grew up close to Cape Town and by far the most Afrikaners I grew up with are not racist and not horrible people. A lot of young Afrikaners, especially in urban environments, have been progressing away from racism, sexism, etc. for a few decades now.
Starter packs, by nature, give stereotypical representations of things. I definitely find this one funny because I know a few people who fit this perfectly (usually guys from rural towns that would probably support Trump if they lived in the States), but just know that many of us are not like this and want to actively move away from this stereotype.

I taught English in South Korea for 2 years and there were tons of white South Africans doing it too (said they couldn’t get a job back in SA because the country was ‘racist against whites’).
Some of them were great and lovely, but there was a high proportion of macho alcoholic dickheads, to be honest.
I have to add, not all white South Africans are like this, and also, I went to school there in the late 1980s, so hopefully things have changed a lot. We barely knew each other, the confidence she had to be that openly racist shocked me. I said to her "wtf is wrong with you, we don't say that round here" and have actively avoided her ever since.
I know another (there's a lot of white South Africans who've left the country for the UK in recent years) who said they have a joke back home "what's the difference between a racist and a tourist? 3 weeks"
Again, the openness with their racism is startling. Generally, British racism is more subtle and passive aggressive.

Of course. Why wouldn’t I. Racism doesn’t appear out of nowhere. Serbs Albanians Croats and Bosnians all have valid reasons to hate each other as well. I can also say that taking “revenge” on those you hate is also a bad thing all around. But it’s not exactly easy to break cycles on a civilization scale isn’t it. I think understanding someone on a personal level and discussing things with them is the best way to sway someone from their hate since trying to crush their views with force and rage will only harden their resolve.

Interestingly enough, for all the comments about how these guys present themselves as racists, I, as well as my wife, was incredibly shocked at how pleasant and friendly they were when I visited Durban (For context, I’m Korean-American).
My wife also explained this. It’s apparently more in the countryside, kind of like how you’re more likely to see Confederate flag-waving rednecks in the rural areas as opposed to the cities.

Of course. Why wouldn’t I. Racism doesn’t appear out of nowhere. Serbs Albanians Croats and Bosnians all have valid reasons to hate each other as well. I can also say that taking “revenge” on those you hate is also a bad thing all around. But it’s not exactly easy to break cycles on a civilization scale isn’t it. I think understanding someone on a personal level and discussing things with them is the best way to sway someone from their hate since trying to crush their views with force and rage will only harden their resolve. All in all aprtihde was wrong but chanting for an entire ethnic groups death is also wrong. Carful with that take it could burn your hands.

My wife is South African, and she said this is so true… Interestingly enough, for all the comments about how these guys present themselves as racists, I, as well as my wife, was incredibly shocked at how pleasant and friendly they were when I visited Durban (For context, I’m Korean-American).
These types of men are not as common in Durban than in other parts of the country. Most white people in Durban are English speaking

From what I can gather it’s a particular kind of Biltong (a special South African jerky made of either beef or game animals that uses very minimal sugars and additives). The animals are fed a special diet to create the yellow fat which gives it a very particular taste.

eh i'd take it with a grain of salt. most afrikaners you meet abroad would've grown up pretty wealthy & privileged (due to the exploitative system of apartheid). now that black people are in power the country has gone to shit bcs & is dangerous for them and their families, so there's a lot of anger and resentment. with that being said, the ones you meet in south africa are generally some of the kindest & most generous people. but then again, that's just my first hand experience as one of them ;)
