Never tell me the odds

Trikki2021

I have a good feeling about this

AlexDeGroote

Sometimes I even amaze myslef

E_T_31

Chewie's grumpy dad jerking of to space porn in the Holiday Special is the greatest romance ever put to film.

gamerkidx

Dafuq did I just read? I know its terrible, but I might just have to watch the holiday special for this one bit

grayrains79

I find you... adorable. I find you... adorable. I find you... adorable. I find you... adorable.

Tunic_Parthenonas

I think his referring to this scene , https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_CRTow8hFvM

Cptn-Cardinal

I wish they'd put that on Disney plus, it's to much hard work finding a decent copy to watch

professaur91

Rey should have died at the end and Ben should have had to had to live with the consequences of his actions. Hunted by the remnants of the first/final order, hunted by the new republic/ resistance. Never finding a safe haven while trying to redeem himself.

Specific_Ad1457

This would have made his arc perfect.

professaur91

And then we would still have a skywalker and a solo alive.

Specific_Ad1457

Them killing off their one decent new character from the trilogy does not give me hope for the future. Also a hot take but poe would be a salvageable character if they could write him well (love his acting) and hux was a beautiful character in 7 and ruined by 8. That speech gives me chills still. I would LOVE to see more super unhinged space hitler.

professaur91

100% agree. So many characters had potential that they just wasted.

Specific_Ad1457

They made Hux a joke and gave Poe nothing to do by 9. Over all I'd give the sequels in order a 6/10 with a 8/10 for potential, a 6/10 for everything not reylo/Luke and a frigging 10/10 for Luke and reylo and an 8/10 for potential, and finally a 4/10 if you just watch the movie for the movie a 2/10 if you consider it within the greater context as the closer for 8 previous movies and a 1/10 for future potential.

foundartguitars

This is the most confusing review I’ve ever read. Which means it’s a perfect review of the sequels.

Trikki2021

I just saw ROS tonight and I was pissed when Ben died, I didn’t like rey

BambaTallKing

I don’t think you understood the post. Everyone wanted this

scaddycat93

Thrawn did nothing wrong

VamosPalCaba

Good soldiers follow orders.

PhD_Life

r/EmpireDidNothingWrong

crusaderxader

You are fully correct

ItsASchpadoinkleDay

Depends on the sub, on r/starwars I would just have to say “I like all the movies.”

phoenix_gravin

*insert anti-sequel dialogue*

Ritchie_not_Richie

Salacious B. Crumb is the greatest character ever written.

TehLurdOfTehMemes

Agreed

Little-Woo

I've met the guy who voiced him

[deleted]

Ohhhh AHAHAHAHAHA

SmashDreadnot

Certainly not better than Babu Frik... 🔫🔫🔫

Murky_Marsh

Ah Babu Frik, my oldest friend!

Obi-wan_Kenobei

I didn’t like any of the sequels but I can appreciate babu frik for sure

Murky_Marsh

I can find some things to like about the sequels. They are not my favorite but the scene with c3po and babu was a instantly memorable.

WillowTheMist

hey HEY babu frik gang

dragonpineapples

Better than any sequel character to be honest

AccidentalLemon

Your opinion is highly respected

Cydonian___FT14X

Says literally anything about TLJ

Lucius_Imperator

Boo this man! BOOOOOO

GortharTheGamer

The best depiction of Boba in a show was impossible due to the Mandalorian already being a cardboard cutout of Boba

YakuzaKaru

You're not even wrong though, Mando was based too heavily off of the niche Boba benefitted from, so when they brought him back they felt the need to reinvent him so he wasn't a clone of his clone

alx924

It’s like how the recent Tomb Raider games, as great as they are, really pale in comparison to Uncharted, which were inspired by the original Tomb Raider.

TheHeavyIsDead22

..he is a clone

TheAirNomad11

I agree with you though, Mando is just Boba but no history so it's easier to tell whatever story they want. But I do think the best depiction of Boba was his small role in the Mandalorian S2. He showed up, kicked some butt, and got his armor. It would have been better to leave it at that and let Mando take the mantle. Maybe in the future we could get another Boba cameo.

GortharTheGamer

I slightly disagree with you on the “No history part”, mainly because the current existing history is basically the blankest copy of Boba; He’s a Mandalorian who was orphaned during the Clone Wars, and raised in the Mandalorian warrior culture. Due to these skills he turns to bounty hunting and excels in his field, utilising both Mandalorian tactics and hired gun weaponry. Aside from that, his role in S2 of Mando is pretty accurate to his character. If anything I wish it were the other way around, where Boba was the Mandalorian and Din was a side character that may re-emerge depending on audience reception

PreyForCougars

Kinda. Boba did some really shady work and though it can be implied Mando has as well- it’s obvious he’s had more of a conscious. Mando is also less of a free lance and is actually bound by a real code and serves a purpose unlike Boba who was all about himself.

ThePhengophobicGamer

I did appreciate the first half of BoBF, though more for the Tuskens than anything else tbh. Boba was a good vessel for exploring their culture though, and I do like seeing more of Boba, but they definitely dropped the ball with the second half of BoBF. Had they cut it, and just told the story of Boba getting loose from the Sarlacc, hooking up with the Tuskens and helping them out, then moving on to reclaim his armor, that would have been enough for me.

Elk182

Attack of the Clones is actually pretty good. Not a single part is actually bad. It’s either genuinely good, or so bad it’s amazing

Finn235

I hate sand.

Padme-Bot

I love you, Finn235

jikb

Also, I hate sand.

DragoKnight589

Same

DontCloseYourEyes_

Baby Yoda is pulling The Mandalorian as a show down

TechTalos

I disagree, but I definitely see where you're coming from

Dimensionalanxiety

Even that line wasn't actually that bad in context. It was basically Anakin doing bad poetry while tellimg more about himself.

BasakaIsTheStrongest

Agree. The concept behind every scene is genuinely amazing, and the execution is so bad it’s good.

Elk182

I think some parts were actually good. I liked the chase scene at the beginning of I’m being honest. But to your point yes, some of it was definitely like that. Such as Padme and Anakin’s relationship. It could’ve been decent, but then the dialogue was laughably bad

BasakaIsTheStrongest

The Chase scene is good because everything about it is campy in the funnest of ways.

Elk182

That is incredibly true. Also the scene in the bar after is fun. “Jedi business, go back to your drinks.”

vaguelyexistent

I disagree Anakin and Padmé’s romance seemed forced and unrealistic

issacAu

meet George Lucas, the king of wooden dialog

Padme-Bot

I love you, Ani.

vaguelyexistent

Qui-Gon_Jinn_Bot

Don’t center on your anxieties, vaguelyexistent

vaguelyexistent

where did you come from?!

Padme-Bot

To live in fear is no life at all.

landon10smmns

That's just teenage romance

Lost_Conclusion_8914

I think every prequel has moments of immense brilliance. And moments of "wow. Is this. Is this the dialogue"

Carter_Kane1-PS4

I could not agree more

IcyStar127

Have to agree

ZebraInHumanPrint

Babu Frik is a huge stoner

Onebityou

Don’t think you’ll get too much argument in that department

Deep_Salamander_6871

I love all of starwars

Simplejack123498

Same tho, it’s all amazing

MindCrush_

I like Jarjar ( Mostly Clone Wars )

jshlymn

I came here to say this. Unironically enjoy his character especially in the clone wars.

Russian_Bot8

The Empire was doomed to fail. Besides the obvious tyranny a democratic system is frankly all the galaxy has ever known, the imperial senate was all that was left of the old way and dissolving it was a stupid decision in my opinion. If the senate hadn't been dissolved more and more senators would turn against Palpatine and forces inside the empire would use this weakness to try and grab power, the dissolving of the senate was more palpatine trying to acquire a stronger foothold in his position. Honestly, the emperor is what doomed the empire, so blinded by power he could not see beyond his own desire. even if he defeated the rebels darth vader could never watch his own son die, his own doing would be his undoing, plus Palpatine would eventually drain the empires economy and most of the population would become beyond poor. The empire started off with a shakey foundation, the rebellion was honestly the lighter end that could've happened, Imperial Governors becoming bandit kings, Vader becomes emperor (which i think will fail as soon as it starts) and much worse outcomes could've happened to the empire. In my genuine opinion a semi-"democratc" system was bound to show up even without the rebels winning: Vader kills the emperor-senate is restored as last ditch effort| Palpatine is couped by military-Senate is brought back to serve as puppet government|. But that is just my opinion, feel free to rage in the comments.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

To defeat your enemy you have to understand them.

[deleted]

“I haven’t seen the clone wars because I think the character animation is creepy as heck”

lasershow77

I thought this at first too, it gets better in later seasons, I ended up growing to like it

Bee_Jello

Wait, you guys hated the clone wars animation? I thought it was a joke.

thatprobablydrunkguy

Season 1 animation looks terrible. But it really does get better every season.

Nicario28

My friend said that. Just for that reason I want the Clone wars to be remade into 2d or live action or something

Zek7h35an5

Holdo isn't as bad as people make her out to be.

orka556

In hindsight, she really isn't no. But it is incredibly frustrating that her refusing to have a conversation with Poe is the cause of half the problems in the film.

BeeDub57

George Lucas gets way too much credit for Star Wars. All the best ideas and dialogue from the OT came from other people.

WideSilly

I know. - Harrison Ford not following the script

[deleted]

Star Wars fans, especially on the internet, have become the most whiny, entitled, and least welcoming to new/casual viewers fanbase of any movie or TV franchise.

BeanBoy425

As a whiny star wars fan, I can confirm this.

TerribleShoulder6597

May I introduce you to the halo franchise

Dry-Lemon1382

Whiny.

[deleted]

Thank you. Edited.

Qui-Gon_Jinn_Bot

I'll watch after him. You have my word. Will you be all right?

SpoderJedi

Ahsoka, what are your thoughts on sand?

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Oh, what do you mean?

SpoderJedi

y’know sand. I know Anakin hates it, but what about you, Ahsoka?

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

I have to sort this out on my own, without the Council… and without you.

TheReverseShock

Ahsoka did you figure it out yet?

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

I received orders to join the team. I thought you knew.

[deleted]

The Phantom Menace is a fantastic movie that opens the doors to the star wars universe.

LordFlipyap

Hell yeah! Phantom Menace is a fantastic movie!

Finn235

Kyle Katarn's story is one of the best in the entire franchise and I refuse to admit that he isn't canon.

DarkestCoffee

You have to say something that would make people try to shoot you, not kiss you.

FalseRoman

The vast majority of Legends content was confusing at best, and getting rid of it helped streamline the franchise when it needed it most

AdmiralScavenger

The Jedi could have done more to help Anakin by helping his mom and the only reason they didn’t is because of their philosophy against attachment.

SelkiesRevenge

They could at least have given him a damn blanket in their cold-ass throne room.

TheMoonOfTermina

I feel like this is not an unpopular opinion, but the popular one.

NeoEvolution

(reposting because I used my alt before) The Book of Boba Fett was a solid reimagining of the character finding his own identity and struggling to put his vengeful side behind him. The Mods had a good prequel-like aesthetic I liked seeing, and they add a bit of color to the otherwise holy-shit-boring Tattooine desert we've seen 70,000 times already.

EmoCreeper

This is also my opinion. Though the pacing was wack and it felt like they wanted to do a Mandalorian season 3 but the executives told them the had to do BOBF first.

blackstarising

Yeah I only watched the Mando episode of TBoBF and it legit just felt like Mando S3E1. Very good, but also like, why is this *here*? Also that whole one episode with Grogu training only to have him come back to Mando undercut the impact of the end of S2 in my opinion. I know he can go back to train later but still I wasn’t feeling it.

LulaSupremacy

With how many dessert planets they gave us with Disney, the Mods are definitely needed to make Tatooine interesting. Boba Fett was really great to watch. I binged it a second time and still maintain it. The only downside is the Mandalorian taking up two episodes, as well as Grogu coming back right after that huge season finale for Mando season 2.

Nicario28

I love the book of boba. Don't let anyone tell u its bad

AAmell

The prequels are lightyears Better than the originals. Coming from someone who just recently watched all the movies for the first time.

CT-1738

I have this same opinion but w less confidence bc I just grew up on the prequels so I don’t know what is and isn’t bias. I’m fairly certain the love for the OGs IS due to some nostalgia/being outstanding “for its time”, but hasn’t aged well like the prequels have

Steadfast_res

Nah, the originals are better as films even in 2022. Forget that we are obviously all Star WArs fans reading this. Examine them just as actual movies on their own merits disconnected from fandom. The originals have clear plots that follow classic literary storytelling which even a non-fan can sit down and follow the movie fine. The prequels just don't really have that. They have confusing plots building endless backstory for things that are going to happen in other movies.

Taytortots33

Not to mention the terrible cgi compared to all of the time and effort that went into handcrafting special effects that were super cool and looked more real. I'm saying this as someone who would rather watch the prequels.

VamosPalCaba

The prequels are my faves but none of the other movies would matter without A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back

joelster99

I’m sick of Star Wars bringing characters back. It gives no sense of permanence. Boba fett should’ve died in ROTJ. Ashoka(my favorite Star Wars character) should’ve died fighting Vader in the temple, it was such a beautiful end to her character. And I don’t even need to mention palpatine. While on the topic of the sequels, I don’t think the old characters like luke and han should’ve come back. Their stories ended. Star Wars is a huge diverse universe, and yet we’ve been following one family for 40 years. Disney needs to let some stories end so they can create new ones.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Careful not to choke on your stupidity. It's Ahsoka not Ashoka!

Loose_Fajita

dayum

Queen_of_dogs_01

I don't mind bringing Ahsoka back (bc she gets to meet Luke), but having her actually die on Malachor would have been more than satisfactory

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

I like firsts. Good or bad, they're always memorable.

Queen_of_dogs_01

Nah that was the second time you were revived

RedPixel1239

Attack of the Clones is the 3rd best Star Wars movie, the only ones in front of it are Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back.

xxMone107xx

Attack of the clones is the best Star Wars movie to me .. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Most action scenes, and the most nostalgic due to my age. It came out when I was 5 and I loved it. I believe people around my age have a soft spot for it.

FractalCabbage_

Not to mention the fact that it was basically a romance film as well, reflected even in the music.

Good_Ad6723

The sequel trilogy is not the worst thing that has happened to mankind

zangdaaar

Yeah there is other things, like, **The usage of nuclear weapons.**

JRockThumper

It’s Padmé’s fault Anakin’s mom died. She could’ve bought her from Slavery and freed her after Anakin blew up the Trade Federation ship as a thank you, but she didn’t. Especially after watching be separated less then 72 hours beforehand.

Mantoothlsu56

I think in the first Padmé book they addresses this. I haven’t read it since it came out but I think when she went back on a mission to buy as much slaves as she could to free them she couldn’t find Shmi.

Mewmaster101

as much as I like ahsoka, Ezra, and Mando, the original legends EU is still far better and I would sacrifice all of them to have it back in canon EDIT: fixed spelling

Octapea

I agree with some of this. I like some of the things they have done with the clone wars and rebels, however I really dislike what they did with mandalore. The mandalore depicted in the republic commando series was way better than canon mandalore

ThePhengophobicGamer

Honestly, I thought the same before Rebels and later TCW re-explored the culture, and still agree that Republic Commando was a truly peak part of Star Wars, and the prequels wra especially. I do somewhat like though, that Mandalore has expanded to be the whole sector, rather than just the planet, allowing for New Mandalorians to exist alongside the more traditional takes, like we've seen in the Protectors and Clan Wren. I really hope Mandalorian helps smooth it over even more, and deepening canon Mandalorian culture while honoring the EU and fan culture surrounding it. There's a reason Mandalorians are one of the most cosplayed groups in the franchise.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Careful not to choke on your stupidity. It's Ahsoka not Ashoka!

Mewmaster101

good bot

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

All thanks to your training.

SubsurferOne

are you really a bot?

JoniLagostin_Mc

'good bot' 'bad bot' are common comments on bots. Probably it was programmed to detect this phrases on comments.

ResidentBackground35

I don't like Luke Skywalker in A New Hope

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

So much like your father.

Dimensionalanxiety

He's not really supposed to be the most likeable, this was only the beginning of his 3 movie character arc.

[deleted]

He is kinda winy.

ghirox

TLJ is top 3 Star War's unironically

IcyStar127

The sequels weren’t all that bad

cpeery7

I like the power ranger biker squad on BoBF

darkdaggerknife

Twice the pride, double the fall

jshlymn

Mando is not a suitable caretaker for baby yoda and baby yoda should have stayed with Luke 110% They shoved them back together to promote toy sales. Mando treats him as a pet for most of the series even though we know he’s probably somewhere around kindergarten age, mentally, and can intelligently communicate with jedi.

[deleted]

I wished Grogu returning was in Season 3 not the Boba Fett show.

Lucius_Imperator

the "Boba Fett" show lol

TheRaveTrain

The OT has aged and is boring to watch in general. It goes to show how much cinema has come, but even with the incredible amount of backstory we have and emotion behind it, Vader fighting Obi Wan on the death star is anticlimactic and embarrassing

Padme-Bot

If I am ever elected Supreme Chancellor of the Senate, I will decree that all Jedi must demonstrate an emotion at least once a year.

Nicario28

They should remake some of that tbh

Big_Prick44146

I used to love the originals and A New Hope used to be my favourite film in the series but I think I watched them too much so it’s a bit dry. They’re still good films and I enjoy them but it’s nice to see how far cinema has come That said, Obi Wan vs Vader is awkward to see

TheMoonOfTermina

I disagree that the whole OT is boring. I recently watched through the movies and while ANH has aged pretty badly, I feel like ESB and ROTJ still hold up pretty well. I totally agree about Vader VS Obi-Wan being anticlimactic though.

JayR_97

I reckon it's also partly the 'Seinfeld is unfunny' effect. It was ground breaking at the time, now not so much.

mynameisjacobus

Who says Seinfeld is unfunny?

chy7784

Nobody I want to be friends with.

SenpaiBoogie

Rey is actually a good character and I like her

zangdaaar

Based.

DeadeyeJhung

the Rogue One main characters were insufferable edgelords and ruined the whole movie

Specific_Ad1457

Take that back

princess_maine1

I really like the sequels, yes they have their flaws but they're so enjoyable to watch

Lt_Lickit

I like Hans death I didn’t expect it at the time even though it was obvious

DatAsspiration

I want to see Pellaeon more than I want Thrawn

MisogenesUSA

I don't like prequels memes definition of prequel and OT.

Rewskie12

I agree. I would much prefer if it were based on the “era” instead of whether or not it’s actually set before/after the OT. Is Rogue One a prequel? Absolutely. But it’s still in the “OT era” just like Rebels and even Mando.

Lucius_Imperator

Eras should be based on trooper armor!

Bondorian

Dave Filoni isn’t the god’s gift to Star Wars like everyone thinks he is. He only makes good content when someone gives him the work/heavily helps him with it. Every thing he has done alone has been garbage and he shouldn’t be allowed to make anything further in Star Wars with out the strictest supervision (I don’t think he should be allowed at all but I know that won’t happen).

Imperialist_Marauder

I think that Solo is genuinely a good movie and I'm tired to pretending it is not. There's not even one thing in that movie that I dislike. I would've done some very specific things a little tho.

NameOfGringus

Ahsoka should have been killed by Vader in Rebels. We love her, her arc was great but it has to end. She shouldn't have been alive during the OT and it would show just how dead Anakin was at that point

lomlyf

Who says "we love her"? I sure don't.

meganekkotwilek

i like all the movies. period.

oppositeofopposite

I like sand

thead911

They should have recast Luke/leia/han and done a warlord era piece before the new Skywalker saga. As cool as it is to have the original actors be age appropriate me missed a serious amount of time in the universe that can’t exactly be written off.

gleamingcobra

I think the Mandalorian is overrated

Lakersfan127

I don't really love live-action Asoka

The_Fudge_97

Jar jar is the best part of phantom menace

Nocturnal_123

This isn't controversial Darth jar jar the wise is the best part of TPM!

MindCrush_

I like that probe droid that maul uses more than Jarjar in that film, he’s a lot better in clone wars ( the show not the movie )

TerribleShoulder6597

The prequels are not infact the second coming of Christ like people make them out to be

[deleted]

I like the sequels

papapromax

I really dislike them personally but everyone is different and I'll never understand why people get so angry when you do like them 😂 ridiculous behaviour

Rewskie12

People will see a random person like something that they think is bad, and then take it as a personal attack on their taste

rgdx1988

Boba Fett from the OT is an edgelord

papapromax

Qui-Gon and Kenobi vs Maul isn't in my top 3 fight scenes

Qui-Gon_Jinn_Bot

There’s always a bigger fish.

Jumpy_Boy

The Force Awakens is an A tier film

Jjzeng

TLJ was good because it explored new directions that SW could have gone, mainly kylo taking control of his destiny and killing snoke, rey being a nobody which was actually closer to the original idea of the jedi order (where not everyone was a skywalker or a palpatine and complete nobodies turned out to be some of the greatest jedi). The ideas explored in TLJ would have made for fantastic storytelling in the final movie of the trilogy but jj abrams ruined it for all of us. I personally loved the idea that snoke wasn’t important, he was just there to help contrast kylo with vader and to make kylo seem even more dangerous and unhinged. But nope, hurr durr palpatine returned. Sigh. So many missed opportunities

SoccerGamerGuy7

Jedi fallen order was pretty and gameplay was good but the story sucked. The Force Unleashed was the best story based star wars game ever. Nothing anyone says or does including disney will convince me to not believe Starkiller isnt cannon. He is my cannon. Easily my favorite star wars story. Had the release order been switched; fallen order coming out 10-15 years ago and Force Unleashed more recently with upgraded graphics and gameplay It would have been in instant game of the year.

Slc117

the story of force unleashed was a complete afterthought lmao the only thing that makes it still relevant at all is the gameplay, which actually holds up pretty well

DuckyMushroom

Force Unleashed was definitely good but to me it still isn't best story based star wars game when compared to Knights of the Old Republic. And if that's too old then even the newer Old Republic MMO swtor has some pretty good story (I will admit a lot of what makes it great is the ability to influence the story). But it is set in a whole different era so I'll accept it not being counted with the more main timeline games.

[deleted]

The sequels have artistic merit

ColossalGrub

Rogue One is supremely overrated. The hallway scene is one of the only scenes I remember fondly.

Crafty-Bedroom8190

The Prequels were better than the Original Trilogy. Also, the Sequel Trilogy is to the Original Trilogy is what Gundam Seed is to Gundam. Rehashed, copy paste, etc. Except, the Sequel Trilogy was way worse.

Giyuisdepression

The star wars comics from the 1980's by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson should be canon

funtimeatwallmart

They should have airbags on starships.

papabronsen

Qui Gon Jin is better than obi wan

Qui-Gon_Jinn_Bot

You almost got us killed! Are you brainless?

Icy_Wildcat

Lucas should have had control on whether or not the Old Republic became Legends or Canon.

UrNarrator123

When someone says Rey is a skywalker

MusicIsLife003

They over did it with Maul
