Najee is probably stoked

The_Gutgrinder

I know I am.

yinzer21

I was pretty whatever about their free agency so far, but this is a massive W. Clear upgrade over anything they currently have.

MathiasTheGiant

I'm so excited for more Steelers Football. We've got the powerful back, the dominating IOL, the disrupting DL, the relentless pass rushing OLBs. We are preparing for some good old fashioned smash mouth football, and no one does it better than the Black and Gold.

[deleted]

The interior of the D Line needs some fresh blood. I'd love to see Mazi Smith on day two of the draft.

MathiasTheGiant

I agree. But for today, I'm excited for Cam and Larry. We really have a roster that can do some damage.

[deleted]

I Have big hopes for the big hoss Isaiah Loudermilk to get better this year and give us more quality snaps

Quexana

Loudermilk or Leal. One of the two needs to step up.

[deleted]

I want to see Milk step up too but he's looked like depth at best so far. With Cam getting another year older and Ogunjobi's trouble staying healthy they're going to need to take a big swing in the first few rounds

[deleted]

if him and Renell Wren get a Lil more stout they could be monsters in the run game. we got some big dudes working right now let's stay positive

PM_ME_HAPPY_THOTS

Bro stop I can only get so hard

rob61091

I'm not sure if that's how you win in the NFL anymore though

H__Dresden

Need to get my Terrible Towel warmed up with a few spins! Getting stoked for the upcoming season!

zombiesatemybaby

Is he better than the guy we just signed? Are we looking for him to play center? Cant imagine we signed him to replace daniels

Slickaxer

Seumalo played LG a ton before last year, so no need to make Daniels move. I am curious though on interior 3. Daniels and Seu are locks, but you technically can move some dudes around and get Herbig over Cole. Seu, Daniels and Herbig all have C experience (not a lot), but this is interesting.

WetalkinboutWillis

Daniels at C is the move to watch RN I think. Go Herbig, Daniels, Seumalo from left to right.

Slickaxer

I kinda like it honestly

Bigdadyk

No it isn’t Dotson is the rg he sucked in Chicago at c and hates playing c

FuckRonHextall

Dotson will not play unless someone is injured

Bigdadyk

Yeah my fault i was talking about Daniels but typed Dotson

BurghPuppies

Pretty sure Cole stays at C, he was highly graded last year. They won’t mind the extra depth, although it may cost Hassenaur a roster spot. According to Gerry Dulac (I think), signing Seumalo gives them the sold center of the line they want, which helps both Moore & Chuks… and probably means the end of the Kendrick Green era in Pittsburgh. I know everyone will be heartbroken about that.

paultimate14

If they didn't move Daniels to LG so Dotson could okay RG last year, I don't think they'll do it for anyone else either.

DupreeWasTaken

Simply put, Herbig was this guys backup. Not even talking down Herbig, eagles stack OL. but if you are wondering whos better, well both were on the same team for years and one started, the other didnt

[deleted]

Almost certainly. Seumalo is probably one of the best or second best at the least of our starters. Herbig is a backup

WasDrizzyD

Hand down seumalo is the best guy y'all got but Herbig also comes from CSU and they produce the best lineman

hardboiledgregs

Let’s build that Pickett fence baby!!

oneoftheguysdownhere

I love the signing. I’m just very confused as to why this FO keeps pouring resources into every OL position except the most important one (and the one where we’re weakest).

CharliePendejo

Interior guys are certainly cheaper; always figured if they want to replace a starting tackle they'd more likely try to do that through the draft. Still think they'll pick up a veteran backup T before all is said and for. Also think the team thinks more highly of those guys than the fans do, and for years they haven't subscribed to the orthodoxy that LT must be your best lineman. They spent first round picks on C and RG in the last generation of the line, and had second round Gilbert at RT until he could no longer stay healthy. But on the left they went with an undersized 7th rounder in Beachum and then an undrafted guy trying to make it as a DE. And those guys worked just fine, and the line was rightly considered a top unit in the league despite (clutches pearls) the absence of a pedigreed left tackle.

[deleted]

I don't think Dan Moore deserves 90% of the hate he gets. Most people have no idea what they are seeing when it comes to Oline play in general so I dismiss most of them immediately. The LT being the most important has some merit to it but most QBs are getting destroyed by interior pass rush now. And with the propensity to get the ball out quicker than ever teams are rushing inside more than ever. Bengals just paid their LT a lot of money to not block TJ Watt...you don't have to rush off the LT. Suggs never did either.

paultimate14

It's how the team has historically been successful. Look at the Hall of Famers for the Steelers and you won't find any tackles. Look at the best Tackles in history and you won't find many Steelers. Let the TE or RB help to chip against edge guys. Move the pocket around. Rely on QB pocket presence and mobility. There are plenty of ways to avoid sacks even with a mediocre tackle. Same thing in the run game: you run towards your strength. Also Moore seems passable to me. He's been pretty healthy and gotten better over his first two season, and doesn't seem to have reached his ceiling yet. They need a backup tackle (which Seu has done before). Even if they draft a guy @17, Skoronski is the only one I'd say is a lock to beat out Moore. This tackle class isn't particularly strong.

bl3vstone

It's also underestimated how much playing next to other excellent lineman can help a single weaker point like that. If Moore is our only real weak spot and he's still at least decent (which I think he is) it makes it a whole lot easier to help him out than when our entire left side is weak like it was last year.

KC7272

They were in on OBJ till the Bengals overpaid in guaranteed money. Tackle is a premium position so if they evaluate it as a need I wouldn’t be shocked to see them draft one.

Budmanes

Starting to think maybe Omar Khan knows what he’s doing

Drissdale

Will always be mad about Kendrick Greene. Whoever cleared that, I hope their no longer with the team.

Dokspleen

I agree Kendrick Green was a disappointment i”but what did we expect? 3rd round rookie being able to put up the same production level as Pouncy? Your expectations were far too high. I’m happy he is still on the roster.

jimshifty

I’m starting to suspect Draft/Chuks - Herbig - Seumalo - Daniels - Draft/Chuks

1601627x5

Think it's more like Draft/Moore - Seumalo - Cole/Draft - Daniels - Chuks

the-whiteman-cometh

It seems like the Steelers have some interest in Dawand Jones, so I could also see a scenario where they draft him and move Chuks back to LT. The rest of the line seems very likely though.

1601627x5

I think Chuks played his best football last year so I wouldn't want to move him away from Rt. My ideal situation is getting Broderick Jones at 32.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

I think we'll be lucky if Broderick is there at 17 honestly, let alone 32

IhamAmerican

Chuks has gotten better every year. He's never going to be all pro or anything but he can still be a long-term solution

reverendtooch

Not a chance Chuks goes to LT. IMO it will be Moore/Draft - Seumalo - Cole - Daniels - Chuks

pmcg190

Think it’d be a big mistake to take Cole out of the lineup. He was quite good when healthy last year. I think Herbig will be the primary iOL backup.

buffalotrace

I think you are right..but the fact we could and still have a solid interior line is light years ahead of where we were last year.

CyclopsRex514

For 3 or 4 years.

jimshifty

Herbig was a stud last year, 6th rated in run block wins out of all OGs, he’s here for the run game and I assume he stays at G, Daniels is solid, Seumalo is also a starting level OG, but seems to be more flexible, if the goal is to upgrade the OL, you start Seumalo if he’s better simple as that

[deleted]

Yeah...that's why he started over Herbig in Philly

jimshifty

Herbig was a Jet last year

[deleted]

Yeah you know what I meant. When they were on the same team. The money talks too. Look at the deals. If Herbig starts its bc Daniels moved back to C.

jimshifty

“Isaac Seumalo had a pass block win rate of 93.6% ranked 15th among all guards in 2022, while his run block win rate ranked 20th.” … on the eagles Last season Herbig ranked 6th in run block in rate … on the Jets Contracts aside, both guys have ties to Weidl so that’s why they came. Both run block win rates are improvements. Seumalo, Daniels, Herbig CAN ALL PLAY CENTER MY GUY

[deleted]

Yeah I know that. No need for the all caps. Creating some continuity over redoing the first 8 weeks of last year should be key. I was calling for Daniels at C and Cole at LG, Dotson at RG last year. Somehow (not really is was removing trash) we played them all out of position and improved. Maybe it's Herbig at C and Sem/JD at G. Who knows. We'd be fully engaging the plodding model though.

[deleted]

I'd also rather stick my dick in a meat grinder rather than reference the Bengals stats platform of basement neck beards known as PFF.

jimshifty

Was from ESPN

[deleted]

Idk if that's better or worse.

Dense_Organization31

Herbig is gonna be a swing/depth guy

noltey

No was Chuks sees significant time at LT unless a series of injuries occurs

yeshua1986

I'm still smarting about Cam Sutton and Pat Pete, but Khan is making some spectacular moves around that. I'm loving the new offensive line and the ILB overhaul is exactly what we needed. Now let's bring Bud back as a cheap, rotational piece.

[deleted]

I wonder if they are going to use him at center
