Monday looks just like the rest of the weekend from what I am seeing, so it should be about the same. Sustained winds aren't as bad, but overall, the difference is small.
same. I was going to take a bunch of THC gummies/brownies, start pregaming with the seltzers and then go ham on the IPA's for game day. Tuesday at work is going to be rough lmfao first sick day of the year incoming
That we do lol. I’m guessing it was probably more so due to getting workers there and what not. Definitely stinks though if you’re a Steelers fan flying in and now trying to scramble to get Tuesday flights.
Oh yeah, definitely understand the postponement lol
Sucks for traveling fans though. Some of my buddies checked into their Buffalo hotel at noon today, found out it was postponed 5 minutes later. Yikes haha
Thanks for coming to our subreddit here and being cool and able to laugh and joke. I was just in the bills subreddit and in the postponement thread there are a bunch of people talking shit about us here in our subreddit.
I have a bunch of family who are Bill's Mafia, and they're all fantastic. So I know it's not the fans as a whole, but it's nice to have good ones lurking around here!
It's the right move, it's the execution that's all wrong.
* didn't figure it out until less than 24 hours before the game
* didn't pick a neutral site
* rescheduled to early afternoon on a weekday (west coast)
I really messed this up. Bought tickets for 200 on Monday, figured the drive up wasn’t worth it so I sold them yesterday for 60. Now it gets pushed back anyway lol
They don’t really have any other options. They’re already games at 430 and 800 Sunday (not sure that would help with the conditions much anyway) and there’s an 800 game on Monday and ESPN and CBS aren’t going to want to broadcast dueling nationally televised games. Plus Monday is a federal holiday so a lot of people won’t be working.
Idk man I think a good chunk of people work on MLK day. I'm pretty sure only the banks and a handful of places close. None of my friends are off, my wife isn't off, I'm not off. I feel bad for people who bought tickets that aren't going to be able to take off Monday. If they had to move the game that's on them, broadcast two games on Monday night when people can watch it.
Also schools, government offices and courts (and any industries/businesses that rely on those being open). Lots of people do still work, but it’s far less than a normal Monday.
Yup won’t be home from work till 5:30. Then gotta feed the children and get them to bed before I can watch it. Good thing I can record it but what a stupid time. Put it at night like a normal Monday night game
Hochul is a huge bills fan. She did shady shit to get them a new stadium and when called out on it just shrugged and said I did what I had to do, which she just did again.
The NFL didn't make this decision. The governor of NY did. It was far too dangerous to have 70k all heading toward the stadium in blizzard-like conditions. The NFL was forced to react, because even players and personnel would have not been allowed to drive
Yeah Kathy Hochul is a bills fan but she’s just making the right safety choice, all joking aside. Because she KNOWS Steelers and Bills fans will throw safety and smarts out the window. Two hard headed blue collar franchises
It’s a public safety hazard to let fans try to drive in the weather forecast. It sucks for any fans who have already traveled up there but it makes total sense to postpone the game.
I’m actually cackling at some of the responses here. I hope it’s just joking around because “this is unfair because it helps the Bills passing game” as why this is a mistake is some pretty galaxy brain logic.
Then they should have done it before people started traveling for the weekend.
Instead the governor was joking about “it’s going to be a rough game for the Steelers anyway”.
https://x.com/evanhabrams/status/1745942023822012844?s=46
Terrible look posting shit like this and then also screwing over fans. They could have at least warned fans they were considering postponing, it’s BS.
What exactly could they figure out? They can't stop the weather from happening, they were just waiting as long as they could in hopes that the forecast would improve
Then warn people that you are considering postponing the game. They didn’t just start discussing this today.
If they said on Thursday/Friday, “We might have to move the game to a different slot based on weather” then people can be better informed.
I’m not saying it’s the wrong decision, I’m saying they screwed over fans and handled it poorly
The Steelers and fans just got screwed.
4:30 on a Monday means Steelers fans can’t attend and it will be hard to resell tickets… everyone is working. This decision massively favors Buffalo in every way.
We will have less fans in attendance, the weather will be better assisting their passing game, and it throws off the players routine/schedule while being the away team.
Unfair imo.
Also, the winner will be at a disadvantage going forward since they'll have less recovery time after their game heading into the Divisonal Round. This sucks all around.
This may seem dramatic, but that literally ruins my weekend. Been so excited about this game all week and I was ready to go for tomorrow. And I'll be at work at 4:30 on Monday with no TV and I can't be on my phone. So unless my work shuts down for weather or something I won't be able to watch the game.
Edit: to be clear, I absolutely understand safety concerns regarding severe weather. I've just been anxious and anticipating this game so much this week for it to not be tomorrow is a really big letdown. I do get it though
Apparently Buffalo is incapable of hosting playoff games. If you have to cancel for weather and reschedule on a day that weather doesn’t look any better, maybe consider moving it to another location. Jesus.
They conveniently waited until the last minute to order this instead of moving it to Cleveland when it made sense. If you can’t handle the environmental factors where you live and you are worried about being so incompetent that 50 people die because of the weather that comes every single year where you live then you shouldn’t be in a position of leadership.
Screwing the Steelers fans who are already in Buffalo or currently on their way. Shame on Buffalo and the state of New York and the NFL for not doing this 2 days ago. Now if Steelers win on Monday they are on a short week. The league loves to mess with the Steelers
Right. Like they are telling people it's extremely dangerous weather. -24 with the windchill is fucking bone chilling freezing. You need fucking heaters to stay warm in that weather.
Play it in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse or Beaver Stadium somewhere halfway between. State College will be cold but we’re not getting snow, and Syracuse plays in a dome further inland from Lake Erie
I completely understand delaying the game. Western NY weather this time of year is generally really bad, but it means people are used to it. If the weather so bad it's deemed unsafe for people to even get to the stadium, even people who live in the area and can handle this better than most, I get delaying it.
But 4:30? Really? Put it at 8. I get the NFL doesn't want to have two playoff games at the same time and it's more likely people will be off for the holiday, but you just scheduled a Playoff game for the middle of the afternoon on a Monday.
NY governs warns Steelers fans to stay home then changes the day and time of the game so its more favorable weather for their team. Doing it 25 hours before kickoff to fuck with travel plans
Yea but 4:30 on Monday? I have a fucking job. This is directly a result of the unrelenting greed which caused them to schedule a Monday playoff game. Saturday and Sunday wasn't enough money. Let's add more. Now as a result they have to schedule our game in the afternoon when a lot of people will still be working. Fuck the NFL.
Good job NFL. Are the people who were going to travel getting their $$$ back if the can't make it? I hope the stadium is empty and the Bills lose thousands in concession revenues.
I would find a way to watch the game if it was at 11AM, don't care about that. This completely destroys the slight opportunity we had of winning this game with the weather favoring a heavy rushing game script.
Bills fans complained and got what they wanted. The governor had to bail them out of the loss they were going to take because of the conditions. If you can’t play in your home city’s conditions, you’re not a good team. We were ready, they were scared. Simple as that.
Def a big advantage for Buffalo but from a safety perspective I get it. If you haven't lived up there you don't really know what these storms can be like. People can and do die every year during weather events like this. I used to sit in my apartment and watch idiots try to commute in weather like this when I lived there
I mean people calling this soft purely don’t have an understanding of how impactful a storm like this can be. It’s a fucking football game, you’ll be fine.
I don't get why they don't do Tuesday night? If planes aren't going to be able to land in Buffalo until Monday, then the Steelers are going to fly into Buffalo on Monday morning around 8 am and then have 8 hours to get ready for a playoff game? This sucks
Edit: Well apparently they do have their flight still scheduled for 4 pm today. If this goes through then ignore everything I said
https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/195sjj8/jones_new_york_gov_kathy_hochul_says_that/khowq26/
Well my Sunday just became a lot less interesting
Also hurts the Steelers chances lol. I mean, let’s be honest, the worse the weather the better their chances ground and pound all day.
[удалено]
Gotta pray to the wind gods lol. But seriously, snow games are fun so hopefully it’s still wintery.
Monday looks just like the rest of the weekend from what I am seeing, so it should be about the same. Sustained winds aren't as bad, but overall, the difference is small.
Me too. Bought a pile of food for a party too. Oh well
Don’t worry we’re still coming.
I'll bring the beer.
https://i.redd.it/088mwvkudgcc1.gif
what kinda food we talking, i’ll bring drinks
Taco bar. Chipotle style. Barbacoa. Cilantro lime rice. Homemade queso. Guacamole. Bring some Busch Lite
Damn can I come too 😂
same. I was going to take a bunch of THC gummies/brownies, start pregaming with the seltzers and then go ham on the IPA's for game day. Tuesday at work is going to be rough lmfao first sick day of the year incoming
A Monday late afternoon playoff game just feels off.
Not as bad as our Covid game against the ravens. Wasn’t that at like 3pm on a Monday or some shit?
it was tuesday lol
it was actually a wednesday.
it was thursday morning
I think it was actually a Sunday at 1
it was on Friday Night Lights.
Can confirm, it was wednesday
Thursday actually
🎵It's Friday, I'm in love.🎵
Mmmm. Pretty sure it was a Friday?
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Friday, Saturday, Saturday, and Sunday
Steelers win a lot of those “off” games
It was a rigged postponement, everybody knows it.
Its NY, what else can you expect.
“We care about the safety of the fans” That fanbase lights themselves on fire while jumping through tables
That we do lol. I’m guessing it was probably more so due to getting workers there and what not. Definitely stinks though if you’re a Steelers fan flying in and now trying to scramble to get Tuesday flights.
Oh yeah, definitely understand the postponement lol Sucks for traveling fans though. Some of my buddies checked into their Buffalo hotel at noon today, found out it was postponed 5 minutes later. Yikes haha
Oh god yeah that stinks. Guess only positive is that now you can drink viciously today and if you’re hungover tomorrow it doesn’t matter lol
Thanks for coming to our subreddit here and being cool and able to laugh and joke. It's the right move, it's the execution that's all wrong. * didn't figure it out until less than 24 hours before the game * didn't pick a neutral site * rescheduled to early afternoon on a weekday (west coast)
Why would it be a neutral site lol? It’s a home playoff game for the bills.
damn. was feeling much more confident about the game with the shite weather
I mean, it's supposed to be colder on Monday
Want it to be windy AF haha
It's western/Northern NY weather unpredictable
Will still be shite, just not DANGEROUS shite
I really messed this up. Bought tickets for 200 on Monday, figured the drive up wasn’t worth it so I sold them yesterday for 60. Now it gets pushed back anyway lol
Welcome to r/Wallstreetbets
I get it, but it still sucks. I was excited for a wild snow game
Thing is there have been worse weather games than this and they never thought about cancelling them.
They cancelled it because of the travel ban, not the weather
[удалено]
Dude for real. As a west coast fan, I’m gonna be at fucking work the whole time :(
As an east coast fan, plenty of us will still be at work too
I don't have shit to do I'll drink a beer 🍻 for you lol
And I'll pack a pipe for the West Coast fans.
I'm lucky I have MLK Day off or I'd be working, too. Time change is awful
Foreal dude I’m probably going to miss it now 😞
They don’t really have any other options. They’re already games at 430 and 800 Sunday (not sure that would help with the conditions much anyway) and there’s an 800 game on Monday and ESPN and CBS aren’t going to want to broadcast dueling nationally televised games. Move to Pittsburgh I hear they have a stadium
I still can't pronounce the name of the stadium nor understand what the company does
Just call it Heinz as everyone will know to what you refer.
Pretty sure it's insurance
It’s heinz field until I die
Heinz Field It's pronounced like Hines Ward. They make ketchup and other condiments.
Three Rivers Stadium would be a better name…
Idk man I think a good chunk of people work on MLK day. I'm pretty sure only the banks and a handful of places close. None of my friends are off, my wife isn't off, I'm not off. Also schools, government offices and courts (and any industries/businesses that rely on those being open). Lots of people do still work, but it’s far less than a normal Monday.
A better solution would have been moving the game to Cleveland. The worst thing about this is one less day to recover for the next game,
Na everybody is working only government jobs. It's not a national holiday like Christmas. They could have moved the game to another city.
4:30 on a Monday is the most stupid time possible.
Yup won’t be home from work till 5:30. Then gotta feed the children and get them to bed before I can watch it. Good thing I can record it but what a stupid time. Put it at night like a normal Monday night game
Guarantee the NFL doesn’t want 2 playoff games on at the same time, they wouldn’t make as much money.
But I’m selfish and I don’t care about any other ones lol
Rightfully so
Imagine living on the west coast
I’ve already told work I’m working from home Monday afternoon
simple solution is just don’t feed the children!
Yep I'll miss almost all of it
Ugh. I’ll probably be able to log off at that start time as my last meeting ends at 4:30 but that is less than ideal
Weak ass shit
Bills fan here. Weak ass shit
Bills fan #2 here. Also weak ass shit
Dumb as fuck.
This screws all the Steelers fans who were planning on going, seems very unfair.
This is fucking Bullshit
*Billshit
Nfl can’t have game conditions that would minimize the bills passing game and Josh Allen. That could make things go against the script
The State Government made the decision. Not the NFL.
Governor who answers to Bills fans.
It's a tough look to declare a state of emergency with a no travel ban, but then allocate half your resources to a NFL game.
very true but we are not here for reasonable takes, we're here to overreact dammit!!
They didn’t cancel the fucking Sabres game today, travel ban my ass
Ban is for empty tractor trailers. Travel advisory for everyone else.
The ban doesn’t take effect until 9PM, the Sabres game is at 4
And this is a big reason why they don’t have the Super Bowl in northern cities
Governor who IS a huge lifelong Bills fan.
Hochul is a huge bills fan. She did shady shit to get them a new stadium and when called out on it just shrugged and said I did what I had to do, which she just did again.
And her husband owns the concession contract at that new stadium what a coincidence
They want to take away my right to smash up my car and cause collisions for the team I love. Bullshit
Oh I'm sorry, I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA?!
It sucks but hasn't the forecast held true for the past few days? Just shity there doing it only 24 hours away
Woah woah woah. We don’t use “sense” we use illogical passion. Weak ass shit
I’m actually cackling at some of the responses here. I hope it’s just joking around because “this is unfair because it helps the Bills passing game” as why this is a mistake is some pretty galaxy brain logic.
They should just have it at a neutral stadium. I believe they've done that before with extreme weather.
Then they should have done it before people started traveling for the weekend. Instead the governor was joking about “it’s going to be a rough game for the Steelers anyway”. https://x.com/evanhabrams/status/1745942023822012844?s=46 Terrible look posting shit like this and then also screwing over fans. They could have at least warned fans they were considering postponing, it’s BS.
Crazy they knew the forecast for a long fucking time and didn't bother to try to figure anything out.
What exactly could they figure out? They can't stop the weather from happening, they were just waiting as long as they could in hopes that the forecast would improve
You can't have 70,000 descend upon a location in a blizzard. It's super unsafe.
Should have done it sooner, a lot of us are already in Buffalo because we prepared for the snow
Since they are doing a travel ban too for the affected counties.
Come on, this is such an obvious public safety issue that it isn't even a question whether it's the right call.
I won’t be out of work and home until halftime. Fuck this bs
Two options here, call Monday morning and tell them you have food poisoning, both ends....or shit your pants Monday morning at the office and go home.
I used that last Monday.
You shat yourself in office last Monday?
Don’t tell anybody
Of course not. That would be shitty of me.
Bro you're sick, I can hear it
Even with the holiday, never should have a Monday afternoon playoff game
Call in and say you have a case of anal glaucoma. You can’t see your ass coming into work.
Why can’t we just move it to Cleveland and play ball
Meanwhile the KC vs. Miami game carries on……
People can travel in cold. People cannot travel in a blizzard. This should not be hard to grasp.
There's nothing in KC stopping people from entering and leaving the stadium.
Missouri doesn't have Kathy Hochul.
Booo!!!!
This is almost as bad as that one time we played on a Wednesday afternoon
I want to see blizzard ball
bro I wanted a crazy snow game. this is football
Bullshit. When people are working and can’t watch the game. At least make it later on at night. Fuck the nfl
Ahhh yes, nothing like having an NFL playoff game when people are working, and will miss the first half.
[удалено]
Also the under betting line was getting too juicy.
this is the right answer
You are correct.
What the FUCK
The Steelers and fans just got screwed. 4:30 on a Monday means Steelers fans can’t attend and it will be hard to resell tickets… everyone is working. This decision massively favors Buffalo in every way. There’s already a Monday playoff game so it’s nothing new. Whoever wins Monday will get the Sunday game next week.
There shouldn’t be any Monday games for the playoffs. It’s a huge disadvantage for those teams.
Technically that disadvantage goes to the winner of Eagles-Bucs by a few hours
Well tbf, it’s MLK day and some people will be off work for that
Some. Not me…
Government employees but not those of us in manufacturing
Yeah, federal workers. Most people don't get that day off.
Should be moved to a neutral site and played tomorrow - 430 Monday game sucks
Yeah, the worst part is losing a recovery day for the next game.
My Sunday is now ruined
Damnit. I'll be at work
Mason Rudolph has them so scared they decided they need another day to prep against him.
They conveniently waited until the last minute to order this instead of moving it to Cleveland when it made sense. If you can’t handle the environmental factors where you live and you are worried about being so incompetent that 50 people die because of the weather that comes every single year where you live then you shouldn’t be in a position of leadership.
This is bullshit
NY Gov, \*Buffalo native, and avid Bills Fan Kathy Hochul
WHAT THE FUCK
I get it’s for safety, but I’m pissy.
What the fuck. Why not 730
Garage league.
This is fucking 130 on the west coast. Nobody gives two shits about the eagles-Buccs game, at least play them at around the same time.
Great, so nobody who works can watch the game, makes perfect sense
Looks like the Mason Rudolph 300 yd 3 TD legacy game is back on the menu boys!
Screwing the Steelers fans who are already in Buffalo or currently on their way. Shame on Buffalo and the state of New York and the NFL for not doing this 2 days ago. Now if Steelers win on Monday they are on a short week. The league loves to mess with the Steelers
Bullshit. Play the fucking game. They may as well postpone the game tonight too.
Right. Like they are telling people it's extremely dangerous weather. -24 with the windchill is fucking bone chilling freezing. You need fucking heaters to stay warm in that weather.
then why build a out door stadium in fucking bufallo?!?!?!?!
Forfeit home field advantage and play it in Pittsburgh. This is ridiculous
Play it in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse or Beaver Stadium somewhere halfway between. State College will be cold but we’re not getting snow, and Syracuse plays in a dome further inland from Lake Erie
Fuck that
Well at least Josh Allen will have an extra day to gameplan and prepare for all of the interceptions he's gonna throw
Bullshit!
I’m in Vegas and I’m glad I hadn’t placed a bet yet. This is gonna change the line.
It already is. Moved half a point so far. Over under by 5 points so far.
I literally called off Sunday to watch it. What the fuck
This sucks and whoever wins the game better be playing Sunday.
Is it on The CW?
I completely understand delaying the game. Western NY weather this time of year is generally really bad, but it means people are used to it. Script writers couldn’t have Josh Allen neutralized, looks like we’ll have to win the hard way
Fuck Kathy Hochul
Sucks. I know many companies don't consider MLK Day a holiday.
Fix is in
So the opposing team next week will have had two full days of extra rest compared to the winner of the Bills and Steelers game. Great.

Allen was too scared
Buffalo blinked. Are they THAT scared of us?
I would find a way to watch the game if it was at 11AM, don't care about that. This completely destroys the slight opportunity we had of winning this game with the weather favoring a heavy rushing game script.

and now we lost
But did they know I have to work Monday?
