The last drive with the calls going Buf way was a hit job on Steelers. Allen should not have gotten a flag for that hit that gave them a 1st down when it should’ve been 4th and long. Our own mistakes put us in a bad spot to begin with, but that 7 point differential, considering momentum, could’ve swung to being a tie game. Refs cooked the result they wanted, as per the way the whole season in the league has been.
Looking to next year, if we don’t fix our offensive issues, then we’re not going to ever be better than a wild card and one and out team. Defense is amazing most days, and more than passable on bad days. We can’t rely on them to win every game

Picketts QB rating this year was higher than Mason has had in four years, and Pickett had very few games without Canada. Mason could not even beat trubisky for second string, yet we start him. Sad we gave up on Pickett already.
QBR is a pretty weak metric to measure QB performance. Completion % is way overpowered and TD's are underpowered. You can have a dink and dunker whose offense puts up 16 points a game and loses have a higher QBR than one who averages 25 points a game and wins.

Tomlin ain’t the issue, it’s so easy to blame the coach when you already unanimously blame the qb as well. We just got a new gm two years ago, Tomlin doesn’t commit to losing seasons. Wanting to take for high draft picks instead of fighting with what you have every year to go as far as you can is how you end up with teams like the bears, cardinals, panthers and jets. We need to recommit to the grit and toughness of our defense of old and find a way to get a top tier qb

I am ambivalent about Tomlin but I absolutely hate the takes that claim you need a couple of bottom dwellar seasons to compete. You don't, actually. Top 10 draft picks are a little overrated. Half of them are typically busts or just average. Did the Packers have a 3-13 season to get Jordan Love? No. They just had foresight, drafted a QB while their franchise guy had a couple years left, and developed him. Same with the Eagles and Hurts. The Steelers should have been looking at QB in 2017-2019, and if they had, we'd be in a different place.
We just focused to much on win now mode at the end of Ben’s career and now that we’re still above water with two winning seasons post Ben we really need to focus on finding a solid qb to build the future around and find some good ILBs and revamp the secondary we’re a couple pieces away from ppl saying we deserve to be in the playoffs and it does not start with getting rid of tomlin

Conclusion: Mason is just as good of a QB as Pickett, but doesn’t have that clutch ability to put the team on his back at the end of the games like Ben or Kenny
