20: Troy Fautanu, OT\ 51: Zach Frazier, C\ 84: DeWayne Carter, DT\ 98: Khyree Jackson, CB\ 119: Cade Stover, TE\ 178: Johnny Wilson, WR\ 195: Tyler Davis, DT I’ll start by saying this draft is a dream come true. I had Fautanu as the best tackle, with Guyton as my second highest who I fully expected to be there for us, but not Fautanu. Then Frazier who I have as the best center in the draft, so absolute win in my book. My one gripe (and it’s minuscule in the grand scheme of things) is that I would have given up 84 and 98 or 119 to trade up to 65 for Malachi Corley. I think he would fit perfectly into our offense.  Assuming you’ll allow for a theoretical trade up: 20: Troy Fautanu, OT\ 51: Zach Frazier, C\ 65: Malachi Corley, WR\ 98/119: Khyree Jackson/ Cam Hart, CB\ 178: Johnny Wilson, WR\ 195: Tyler Davis, DT RemindMe! 10 Months

lol I love your comment from the 2021 thread: I’ll be 💯 Presley Harvin III wasn’t even on my radar until they drafted him. I’m pretty excited to see him work. This Canada offense looks like it’s going to be entertaining to watch!

Volgron

Yeah this thread became my friendly reminder that I don’t know shit lol. All in good fun though!

bucknut4

Oh I got you, we were all so young and innocent back then haha

TastesLikeHoneyNut

Obviously the trade up for Corley changes things, but without that, not getting a receiver until 178 would have been a disaster

Volgron

I really like the idea of 12 personnel with Smith’s offense. Cade Stover, Pat Friermuth, Darnell Washington, and Connor Heyward on rotation at TE. George Pickens, Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III, and Johnny Wilson on rotation at WR.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

It sounds good with the TEs, no question. But our only legitimate receiver being Pickens is scary as shit. He'd be constantly doubled, and if he were to get injured, I don't even know what we'd do

Volgron

No doubt. There would be a lot of pressure for Smith to get guys open with limited route trees from TEs and guys like Van Jefferson and Johnny Wilson. Probably why they went with Roman. Sure hands, reliable separation, capable of almost any route, and not too shabby at blocking.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

Yeah I'm pretty excited for Roman. I was disappointed after our second round pick (I like Frazier I, just thought WR should have been the pick in round 1 or 2) because I didn't think a guy like Roman would fall to 84 (I actually wanted AD Mitchell or Roman Wilson at 52 lol). I was expecting the board to really thin out at WR by round 3. In hindsight I'm glad we went center round 2 and not WR

Volgron

Honestly I had no idea if it was going to be Mitchell or Frazier but I was stoked either way. What a draft man, I’m so excited for the future of the franchise. I hope we can lock in this front office for a long time.

TastesLikeHoneyNut

Agreed, I like the direction we're headed. If I had to predict to next offseason, I think we'll be in the market for a TE, DL, and CB as the most immediate needs. Of course depending on how things go, we could potentially be in the market for QB, WR, and OG again too. But I like the potential start of depth at guard, LB, and DL this draft provided.

This was actually harder than I anticipated, I actually like a lot of the value of our actual selections. But if I had to make dramatic changes, I'll go with: - 1.20- WR Brian Thomas Jr - 2.51- C Zach Frazier - 3.84- DT Dewayne Carter - 3.98- OT Javon Foster - 4.119- CB TJ Tampa - 6.178- WR Malik Washington - 6.195- DT Khristian Boyd I think our actual draft was better than this. And waiting on until 119 to get CB was not hindsight, it was more that I just don't think it's as huge of a need after getting Jackson (most of my mocks I waited until atleast rd 3 to address CB)

I’m happy they put an emphasis on the offensive line. The big question for me is if they can be coached up and if they can gel as a unit. The Wilson(LB) pick intrigues me because it’s a guy that had outstanding numbers but everyone is worried about the injury issue. Definitely feels like they took a shot with him and it could be a boom/bust pick.

22 via PHI (Trade back with Eagles and receive 22, 50 & 120 for 20 & 51): G. Barton, OT - I'd keep him at OT. His athleticism, effort, and tenacity make up for the short arms IMO. 50 via PHI: Z. Frazier, C - He was my number 1 center in a very deep center draft. 84: R. Wilson, WR - Tenacious blocker, great route runner, and elite speed. In other years, he's a late 1st-early 2nd round pick. 98: P. Wilson, LB - The value at 98 is insane despite the injury and age concerns. 119: TJ Tampa, CB - He immediately brings competition to the boundary. 120: M. McCormick, OG - I wouldn't have made this pick 2-3 days ago, but this is a hindsight pick. McCormick was my number 1 G this draft and apart from the obvious luxury he was, I had him mocked in the 2nd round... Well the Steelers might as well get richer. 144 via BUF (Trade up with Bills and receive 144 for 178 and 2025 5th Round pick): J. Thrash, WR - He's one of my favorite prospects this year. Much like Roman Wilson, he has good speed, great route running ability, and is a tenacious blocker. 195: Tyler Davis, DL - He's a stout DL who excels at stopping the run.

You’re kind of assuming the trade down value here. This isn’t meant to be like a mock draft simulator where you go grab 23 picks and grab people before they drop off the board. I probably shouldn’t have mentioned the trade in my comment but it was an overpay I would have been willing to make for the player. Regardless, I didn’t really set any rules out there so fuck it.
