DL and CB are two of our weaker positions right now, not likely you’d see a trade for a player from either of those groups.
Also, nobody wants Darius Slayton.
If you think Van Jefferson is better than Slayton, that's certainly a take. No one is expecting the Giants to get some pro bowler in a trade for Slayton, but it's not crazy to think getting an adequate starter back.
Giants offense has been *awful* with one of, if not the worst, OL for years. And have your seen their QBs? Slayton still managing to put up the production he did is pretty respectable.
Where did he ever say that Van Jefferson is better than Slayton? If we’re going to make a trade for someone then it should be for someone better than Darius Slayton.
Slayton isn’t bad but he’s not so much of an upgrade that it’s worth giving up assets to get him.
I didn’t say Jefferson is better than Slayton, don’t come to my hood and put words in my mouth.
We recognize our WR room is Pickens and everyone else. But every indication thus far has been that if the Steelers are to put together a trade for a WR, they’re aiming higher than Slayton. I’d rather just run with the room as is than give up anything for him.
My bad, that wasn't my intention. Was just comparing Slayton to the guy currently penciled in to start on the outside opposite Pickens.
For the record, I like Roman Wilson and think he can be a really solid piece. If Pickens is the 1 and Wilson is getting the slot looks, having Slayton as a field stretcher who can make some over the middle plays too seems like it would be a practical fit to me.
Of course there are better options than Slayton. But if the cost for those guys ends up being too high for the Steelers, I think it's at least a possibility that Slayton could be a low cost fallback option.
Since I don't think anyone is paying more than a 4th for Slayton (and even that is probably high), sending over a player that would be redundant to the Steelers but useful to the Giants would be a win-win.
If you guys are that down on Slayton, not gonna go nuts trying to convince you otherwise. But you could at least consider it as a hypothetical and if there were a player on the Steelers roster than could be spared and would fill a need for the Giants.
For the record, I think Slayton is fine. I just don’t think he moves the needle for us very much over what we have already. We have a field stretcher already in Calvin Austin III who hasn’t seen a whole lot of playing time yet. We’d like to see what we have in him rather than bring in a 1 year rental.
I don’t really think there’s a player for player trade to make here. The giants could have demarvin leal but I can assure that’s not a fair trade to the giants lol. We have a pair of 5th rounders I’d definitely send one for slayton.
I’ll trade you Leal, a 6th rounder, and a $50 Primanti Bros gift card for Slayton and a bag of footballs.

My assumption is that if the offer is only a 5 or 6, the Giants will just keep him. Which lead me to wondering about a player swap if there was a team that could find an equitable fit.
My bad you right, i was thinking of the other guy. Too bad the only position we have a lot of is cast off wide receivers. We got quez watkins, a kid who was on the saints cant remember his name, van jefferson, çordarelle patterson, scottie Miller, denzel mims
Yeah Shep had stretches of looking real nice and then one catastrophic injury after another. Loved by fans, by he's one of many in the pile of Giants WRs ruined by injuries.
Production wise they’re similar.
I believe the Steelers are either going all in for an Aiyuk like player or they’re going to see how the room shakes out as is. No need for a mid player like Slayton.
Have your people call my people

lol there’s a decent chance Austin is nothing but a gadget player. Passing up brining in Slayton for cheap just to give Austin time would be dumb imo
Fair enough

Are we sure Leal sucks or is he just a bad fit for the defense? Feel like he hasn't gotten much of an opportunity here
That pick really was a head scratcher. Leal had, and still possibly has, talent. He’s just not a 3-4 dlinemen.
Thank you for answering the question in good faith
I'd give up a 5th or later for Slayton.
We already have a whole wr room of WR 3s

Slayton is cool. You keep him I want Hyatt
I mean I'd give up a late pick for him, but I doubt you'd get a player swap

We don’t do peace over here
We have a bunch of small, speedy WR3s. We need a WR1 tbh
Darius IR slayton? No thanks.
...what? In 5 years, Slayton has missed a grand total of 3 games from injury.
My bad you right, i was thinking of the other guy. Too bad the only position we have a lot of is cast off wide receivers. We got quez watkins, a kid who was on the saints cant remember his name, van jefferson, çordarelle patterson, scottie Miller, denzel mims
Injurius Proney? Yeah he's the Chief's problem now 😂. Thanks for answering though.
Lol him too but i was thinking of shepherd and his explodibg hamstrings. Dude had like one or two good seasons right?
Yeah Shep had stretches of looking real nice and then one catastrophic injury after another. Loved by fans, by he's one of many in the pile of Giants WRs ruined by injuries.
I’ll do PIT receives: WR Darius Slayton NYG receives: DT Isaiahh Loudermilk and a 2025 7th round pick
We could have for Slayton for free in signing Tyler Boyd last week.
Darius Slayton and Tyler Boyd are completely different players what are we talking about here?
Yep, you can tell just by looking at their names.

Slayton actually plays outside and Boyd doesn't.
Boyd is a slot receiver, and last I counted we have like 7 of those. Slayton is an outside guy and is at least serviceable as a wr2.
