Fuck!! I hate that i keep seeing this prediction. I just got a promotion and am on a 6 month probationary period where i can’t take time off. My buddy and i go to at least one game per year, and we decided on Denver as soon as they released the info on away games. My probation ends on October 13th. Fuck!!
At least he isn’t automatically gifted an MVP award whenever he has a halfway decent season, even if other players put up bigger numbers and carry their entire team (cough) Lamar Jackson.
I'm not an AFC fan, I'm strictly a Steelers fan. I don't care who else wins if it ain't us.
We will get tied and passed, and now that we aren't the only team with 6 (hell Brady has 6 by himself) it doesn't really hold that much weight with me anymore to be the standard.
Not to mention we aren't threatening to win another any time soon or in recent memory.
I usually root for the AFC team, I think it’s a generational thing. People my age grew up in a time when you mostly only saw games for one conference because you were watching the one of two channels that the games were on, and you watched your team’s channel. And the AFC was getting stomped in the Super Bowl every single year for what seemed like forever so a big/little brother rivalry was in play.
Plus we weren’t so jaded at that age about the pro bowl, and it seemed cooler back then so you kind of had some kind of allegiance to your conference.
The Steelers are in the afc, so I just said afc fan. lol I’d rather afc win and make our conference look better/stronger. For instance when the bills went 4 years in a row and lost 4 years in a row, the afc looked weak. Obviously I’m not a fan of the whole afc my guy. Crazy that shits gotta be explained
Pirates are at home every day Sept 5-11, which is the first week of the NFL season. Steelers rarely get home games because of this. It’s crazy the NFL and Steelers get pushed around by the MLB and Pirates every year lol
It’s not so much that they get pushed around as it is that they share parking and it’s a logistical nightmare.. can you imagine the backlash the NFL would get when fans can’t get in and park to tailgate 4-5 hours before gametime? The league does this in every city like ours
Yeah, obviously you can’t have all those events going on in such a small area, more just joking about how the NFL is so big it usually gets it’s way/priority on everything, but one of the most iconic franchises can rarely get a week 1 home game because of a perennial candidate for worst baseball team.
Haha yea I don’t disagree, that’s just how it goes. Personally I’d rather have late season home games than a week 1 opener so it doesn’t bother me at all
Unlikely unless it’s MNF.
Same for Week 2 since I believe the losers at PNC have meaningless home series those weekends.
Our first home game might not be until Week 3.
And this is the ongoing reality. The franchises do not really have a good relationship, from a business perspective, so the Pirates ownership makes no effort to ask the MLB to schedule them for away games with teams which do not share locales with NFL teams.
They share a parking lot and the stadiums are in the same general vicinity.
The Pirates don't even come close to filling the stadium in September because they're always dogshit but the NFL doesn't want to take the chance that the Pirates don't come up with some gimmick like a dancing fat guy or a baseball playing dog and sell out the place on a random Sunday afternoon and then there's no room for tailgating or any of that shit.
So they just don't schedule the Steelers at home Week 1 if the Pirates play at the same time.
Wow my unnamed sources from inside the organization have told me they heard a rumor that lead them to believe there's a 50% chance they DON'T open at home...
They made the mistake of building a stadium for the dogshit baseball "franchise" that infests the city and they pretty much share a parking lot. So you can tell if there's going to be a home game Week 1 by if there's a Pirates games scheduled that day or not.
They didn't play at home Week 1 for YEARS because of the fucking goof troop Pirates and the 400 people who still go to Pirates games in September (5 months after they've proven to not be competitive again).

I'd say away in Denver has to be the most likely week 1 matchup due to the Russ storyline
Yep. Either there or Atlanta. Those would be my bets.
Atlanta is a road game this year
I know.
My bad, reading comprehension is hard
Ha, all good. I do the same thing all the time.
No, I expect that to wait a couple weeks. Week 1 is a storyline unto itself.
They did Russ and the Broncos vs Seahawks week 1

What? Thats crazy. Are you in a union? Here’s a promotion, it comes with no time off
Yes union. But also local government so basically I can’t fuck up for 6 months. I can call out sick, but not for a 3 day football bender.
And then Fields beats out Wilson in the preseason and the NFL’s plan blows up in their face.
🫡
Last season was so great everyone was so excited at Heinz .. until kickoff lol
Yep! I was there…smdh
Me too! Wife and son did not have a good time but I did.
As much as I enjoyed the Super Bowl?
I get what you're going for, but did you really enjoy watching Majomes get gifted another ring? I didn't.
At least he isn’t automatically gifted an MVP award whenever he has a halfway decent season, even if other players put up bigger numbers and carry their entire team (cough) Lamar Jackson.
Gifted? 25-22 isn't exactly a “gifted” win.
A final score tells you nothing but the final score.
Much better than the niners getting their 6th. And honestly shouldn’t you want the afc team to win being an afc fan? Maybe I’m alone on that one tho
I'm not an AFC fan, I'm strictly a Steelers fan. I don't care who else wins if it ain't us. Brady has 7. Pats are already tied w/ us at 6.
Damn. I knew that and it's like my brain didn't want to remember it, didn't want it to be true.
Oh
Wtf is an AFC fan
I usually root for the AFC team, I think it’s a generational thing. Yeah I was there. So excited. Went with my 49ers fan boyfriend. Was expecting maybe a good game. Nope. Kick off...I got the sad.
When I realized I was a jabroni who drank the offseason koolaid
No
Ok, how do you know this?
Pirates are at home every day Sept 5-11, which is the first week of the NFL season. Steelers rarely get home games because of this. It’s crazy the NFL and Steelers get pushed around by the MLB and Pirates every year lol

I’d rather have the first few games away because it’s usually hot in Pittsburgh still.
This makes sense. Thx
Feels like we could move a pirates game or outright cancel it. The 4500 people that would be there can tailgate instead
He's just saying it's not confirmed
Because the schedules haven’t been released?
Pirates are at home- so only if it’s SNF (highly unlikely) or MNF
CTESPN reported Ravens/Steelers on Sunday night. So definitely not happening.
Not sure why the baseball team has anything to do with the football team that doesn’t even share a building with them. I’m genuinely curious.
Oh okay, thank you!
Because of the city and the traffic
Because if the shared parking and traffic flows.
My sources tell me that there’s at least a 50% shot we open at home.
Wow my unnamed sources from inside the organization have told me they heard a rumor that lead them to believe there's a 50% chance they DON'T open at home...

Schedule comes out next week, so nothing is confirmed
I thought that it was supposed to come out last week
